Ed how much did Joel Robles cost about, and do you know anything of a buy back clause? {Ed025's Note - im hearing £1.2m D....but thats not written in stone mate..

In the Spanish press, they're saying (guessing?) 4m euros, i. e. about 3.4m quid - seems very high to me, but that's what's being quoted.

How is overrated Leighton Baines, who is valued at £18m lol, he is worth about £12m.
But in fairness he is the best LB in the League, he really is not, Cole is far better

whats with all the kopites suddenly giving out banter? going on about us now being everton athletic?
im sure we have only signed one wigan player this window and are still the same team that they have been looking up at in the table for the last two years even with spending mega money, personally happy with our signings well little gutted about kone as his age and record isn't great but still i'm excited to see what he can do in a blue shirt playing with far better players

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Could not have put that any better myself Baru.

TT

Agree0 Disagree0

Who are you calling a kopite soft lad all 3 players were at Wigan last year yes/no?

S1878

Agree0 Disagree0

3 players for 7 mil hardly breaking the bank for a bit of depth, RM knows the players well so it makes sense

MikeDeBlue

Agree0 Disagree0

Look at last season's stats - compared with Jelavic and Anichebe, Kone scored more, passed more, dribbled more, tackled more, created more chances and had more assists. Give the guy a chance! He's only as old as Van Persie!

Agree0 Disagree0

S1878, the only player we have signed from wigan is kone, alcaraz was released end of june so we got him on a free from no club and robles was from athletico madrid! do one back to your own pathetic little site

Agree0 Disagree0

They are all fa cup winners

Agree0 Disagree0

Although Geography was never my strong subject at school all those years ago I would be surprised if there was a Wigan in Spain, a Wigan in the Ivory Coast and a Wigan in Paraguay, maybe one but surely not all three!

Agree0 Disagree0

It's ironic as Liverpool used to be known as Everton Athletic and that is legitimate fact by the way

Agree0 Disagree0

Surely the kopites must have known they changed their name (well any decent supporter would) and as we all now they look up to us these days perhaps they just want us to be known as their team as well so they can support us both and not have soar necks next season

Agree0 Disagree0

So are Man United now 'Manerton' - because they got our old manager and about three of our back room staff and are hoping to sign at least one of our players?

So when we and Manerton stuff Liverpool home and away next season we can say we've done the quadruple on them, and both finished higher!

happy days! :)

Loving the speed at which Robbie is conducting his business, everytime I go on the internet we've signed someone. I know people will say all this ex-wigan cack, but they're proven premier league players who will add to the squad, and a decent young keeper who played well from what I saw last season. I for one am excited by the window so far and can't wait to see what else he's got planned. In Roberto I Trust!

It's so they can put ATHLETIC under Everton

S1878

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We only signed 1 player from Wigan. Get a grip.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree - thought roberto was renowned for his international scouting network - It stretches as far as Wigan - like the players bought on a cheap away day saver!

Agree0 Disagree0

Semantics mate all 3 were at Wigan last year

S1878

Agree0 Disagree0

Are you really Evertonians?

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes all 3 were at wigan last season but only 1 of the signings (kone) was bought from wigan, alcaraz had no club when we signed him and robles came from athletico madrid

In my opinion now if we ass moses/honda or 2 signings like that it is key we keep hold of fellaini and baines, they're both irreplaceable I think. With teams like swansea and norwich and southampton improving like they are I cans ee us fighting it out for 8th 9th if we lose felli and baines, hopefully we don't lose them.

What does everyone rate the chances of fellaini and baines both staying? And if they did go who would you like to replace them?

Btw when I reply to posts they don't seem to be getting posted I don't know if its from your end or mine?

Ryan.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Im sorry mate but the only player who's irreplaceable in world football is messie.
You might think Baines is irreplaceable now but if you think about it we would buy a solid left back and do what every other normal team does and attack through the middle more with say a Honda or whoever.

Agree0 Disagree0

Did you not see Baines' stats compared to Evra. One created 126 chances, the other around 24. He is irreplaceable as a left back, no other in world football comes anywhere near that.

If we only sell the likes of Heitinga, gueye and other fringe players and keep are squad. Plus add a box to box cm and fast powerful winger. Diame/Honda and Moses/Deulofeu I'd be one happy Evertonian.

Its a bit worrying that efc have put £18 million price tag on baines. Source tv

Believable0 Unbelievable0

No worries as far as i'm concerned if Utd pay up then we move on, but if they don't we still keep a very good player.

Agree0 Disagree0

It's the TV who have put the price tag on him not Everton.

If you believe all of the papers then today this is what is supposed to have happened depending on what paper or TV station you have read or watched:

We're holding out for £20mil
We've put a price tag of £18mil
Baines is asking for a transfer tomorrow
Baines has already informed chairman Bill Kenwright of his decision to leave
United have bid £13mil
United have bid £12mil

And all of this I tell you now has come from United and their luvvies in the press and none of it has actually happened. They do this every time to unsettle the player.

If you asked each reporter where they got their info from they would all tell you the same - from up their own a*se!

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jul 2013 19:49:15
Just on numbers taking away personalities, we operate a small squad and have done for a considerable period, maybe Martinez is more adapt at using a squad than running the same 14-15 players into the ground like someone else used to do.

To enable that to happen and to replace and refresh things we are bound to see (hopefully) a good few signings.

Cahill - was he actually replaced?
Neville

Hitzlerbeger
Mucha

Heitenga - likely to move on if a bid is received.

We must have some money, and what with the new Sky money. The manager bringing in people he knows can only help.

With our finances not being billionaire status, I think we are making steady progress on paper so far, if it transfers to the pitch. Europe here we come

Random but, thoughts on Howard staying on as a goalkeeping coach when the time comes?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He's said he wants to go and live back in the US when his Everton career is over

TC

Agree0 Disagree0

I was speaking to neville southall a few months ago, and I asked him if he would do it, and his reply was he wasnt asked as certain people didn't want big players from past at the club in a top first team coaching role, it was aimed at moyes

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm not one of these 'FACT' people, I have no sources but I think we will sign moses honda and deulofeu along with the 3 we already have, this would be a top window if we do that and keep fellaini and baines, maybe shift heitinga.

It cannot be called unrealisitic, all those 6 players would set us back around 15 mill and that is roberto's rumoured transfer kitty.

Would love to see Moyes face as RM adds new faces to the attacking line up

Moyes wanted to parachute one of his own lads in to the managers job so he could still pull the strings and have influence and the moyes method would not change

Would love us to do better than under moyes and moyes to fail at united!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

What's with the one-upmanship? Moyes has gone and is in the past. Forget about him.

Agree0 Disagree0

'One up man ship'?
Well, who'd have thought?
What do you think football is all about?

I'd love it if we shoved it to moyes next year after he ran his contract down deliberately, saving manutd a few million which they don't need when his supposedly beloved everton needed every penny

Then he tries to influence our next manager (to be a novice that would be worse than him)

Then he comes sniffing for our best player having been told it would not be welcome

Yep - I don't really like the guy any more and I'm not completely convinced he was that great when he was here - no cups - defensive play - wrong or no subs when required

Sitting back on one nils

Having every single player back in the area to defend corners

Playing phil Neville ahead of Barkley

Plus a few more - so yeah I'm hoping that he doesn't win a single thing at united

Agree0 Disagree0

Strange anti Moyes post - have you already forgot the mike walker and Walter smith days when we skirted with relegation not the top 4! All the time operating on a fraction of other teams fransfer kitties

Agree0 Disagree0

One-upmanship was, perhaps, in hindsight, the wrong choice of word (s). It just sounded a little bitter on first reading.
However, I actually agree with what you say in your reply and hope we can move forward next season with a young, modern, attack minded manager rather than the negativity we've been used to for 11 years.

Hi ed, I don't post an awful lot but I have a few questions for you, and other posters opinions,

How many more players can you see us signing?
Can you see us spending 7-8 mill on one marquee signing?
Do you rate moses? And if we got him would he play as a winger or uptop?

Also I am very happy with alcaraz (great defender believe me) kone (bit of pace and competition) and robles (hopefully future no1) I think we should go for 1 of diame/fer 1 of honda/chadli and maybe a loan or two, maybe I'm being to optomistic maybe I'm not COYB

Reply with your thoughts:)

Howard
Coleman Jags Distin Baines
Mirallas Gibson chantome moses
Felli
Kone

Bench: Peanuts, anichebe, jelly, alcraz, robles, barkley, dyer

Thats strengthening a squad much. Looks good and the bench looks solid aswell more options with attacking players. TOP 5 looks promising and I could be wrong with the players and he could bring even more in and maybe even honda or delfeoue would look awesome after that?

I'm hopin he's got a gem or two lined up. what do we think? {Ed025's Note - i think he will bring a big signing in dave..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I'm with you on this one Ed. I think he is shoring up the holes in the team i. e. Centre Back - Alcaraz (Free) Centre forword - Kone (5mil), Goalkeeper - Robles (800k by all accounts), cheaply but with premier experience and quality, which will leave a good amount in the pot for a surprise signing.

Almost surely a midfielder could it be Honda? or Moses? or Dyer? or Chantome?

My head is going to explode! {Ed025's Note - put a chin strap on your hat john.. :)

Also interesting to read an online paper saying we are after Moses, Robles & poss Dyer or McGeady.
Its certainly going to be an interesting few weeks.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Can't see how a player signing would overshadow that to be honest but if it's true fair play to them.

We will tread water at best with this standard of players. There is not one mentioned that actually makes you think YES WE HAVE SIGNED HIM!

If we manage to ship heitinga out, Martinez will move in for Ashley Williams. Sakho will also be looked at, although he will be costly, finding a long term replacement for Distin is very important along with competition for his and Jagielka's place in the team. However if we still have Heitinga, a move for a high profile CB will not be viable.

Kone and Alcaraz. Not exactly mouthwatering and yet there is something about the pure fact they have signed that means I'm extremely excited to see them pull on the shirt. Certainly optimistic and not disappointed. Hope we can keep hold of the big assets and we could have a better season than last year despite all the usual writers off.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Probably feel like that because we are so starved of buying players you feel like that mate. I think they'll both do well for us though, looking forward to the new season

What do you Everton fans think the chances are of Arsenal signing Fellaini and giving you Ramsey in part of the deal or instead us paying the full amount and you guys buying Diame as you've been linked with him recently.

Cheers

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Arteta plus 20 million. tp.

Agree0 Disagree0

Cash only for me mate, the longer Wenger dithers over Fellaini the more it will cost as the release clause is only in place till August as far as I know.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hopefully. None.

Agree0 Disagree0

Straight swap for Wilshere and Cazorla

Agree0 Disagree0

You can shove Ramsey up your hoops. It's 24 million or the wig stays.

Agree0 Disagree0

It would depend on how much plus Ramsey for me, at the end of the day though I would think Felli's wage demands are more of an issue then the transfer fee or whatever deal is offered.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd take Ramsey. other than heading a football he has more talent than fellaini

Agree0 Disagree0

One of these days we will be able to wander over to the Arsenal site 'in peace' and be able to ask them about one of their best players that we're thinking of buying - once we're in the champs league and they're not - see how they like that :)

yeahhh - "peace man!"

Agree0 Disagree0

Ramsey's s****, don't want him anywhere near our club.
Highly doubt you'll get Fellaini, the lad's got ambition.

Agree0 Disagree0

At 24m, he's a bargain, but moses, & Lukco and I might have a rethink.

Agree0 Disagree0

Moses and Lukaku play for chelski so would be difficult to include in any deal with Arsenal. {Ed025's Note - i think he meant with the dosh we would get..

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh yea, my bad Ed. Missed that in the OP as most of the replies were referring to Arsenal. Apologies to the Moses/ Lukaku poster too.

alcaraz (free) robles (loan) and moses (loan) would be good business and add necessary depth to the squad. diame and honda would make it a seriously good window for everton.

Just one icecream kone. score a goal for me. a brilliant player from the ivory.

Daily Telegraph this morning Blues, unbelievable, thought they offered more than that last month?

Manchester United ready to test Everton's resolve with increased bid of £12 million for Leighton Baines

A £10 million bid from Manchester United for the England left‑back has been rejected, and their next attempt is still expected to be some way short of the Merseyside club's valuation.

David Moyes, the new United manager, is eager to make his former defender his first major signing since he replaced Sir Alex Ferguson as manager at Old Trafford.

Everton have stood firm demanding for £20 million for their defender and the Merseyside club are unlikely to budge if United offer only a slight improvement to their opening offer.

Baines returned to Everton training on Monday. Fully aware of United's interest, he may feel torn as to how to respond given his loyalty to Everton but ambition to compete for the title and play in the Champions League.

Degsy

Baines may also see a move to Old Trafford as assisting his England challenge to Ashley Cole in World Cup year, but it seems highly unlikely that he will request a move unless United's bid gets closer to a figure with which Everton are happy.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Moyes has already insulted us once but if he comes back in with a £12 m bid then he really is taking the piss and showing a total lack of respect for the club that helped him to where he is today. Bill should politely tell him to shove it where the sun doesn't shine

Agree0 Disagree0

If this is true and not just press speculation then any respect I had for Moyes has just gone out the window, I look forward even more now to Robbie leading us to victory at Old Trafford and showing the dithering one how it is done!

Agree0 Disagree0

Is this some kind of softening us up song and dance routine?
They offer 10 - we're insulted
they offer 12 - still insulted

they offer 14 - go away we say

they offer 16 - turned down

they offer 18 and we sell and supporters are happy because we 'drove a hard bargain' - "we don't sell cheap" etc etc

as opposed to them just coming along and offering 18m which we accept straight away and the everton fans go mental etc etc

Is it just me or does anybody else every time they see Moyes smug kipper on tv fill you with hatred for the double standards he brings now he has left us.

You had my full blessing you ginger c*ck and I stood with my 2 boys applauding you at the West Ham game, my oldest was in tears because you were going (a good thing as it will learn him a valuable lesson about football and being a supporter) and then you pull the Baines stunt.

Sh*tbag

Believable0 Unbelievable0

How long have I been having a go at moyes on here and all I ever got was abuse after abuse. Now finally people are beginning to see what I have been telling them all along.

Remember what I say, as I am always right.

Mike

Agree0 Disagree0

HArdly mate, he was fantastic the job he done as a manager for us and can't see the reason you were slating him being that you knew he was going to sh*t on his own doorstep one day.

Hi all, Would Ed and fellow blues be happy with this as our squad for the new season.

1st Team
. . Howard.
. . .
. Jagielka. Distin. Coleman. . Baines
. . .
. Fellaini. Gibson. . Honda.
. . .
. Mirallas. . Moses.
. . . . Jelavic.

2nd Team
. . Joel. .
. . .
. Duffy. Alcaraz.
Hibbert. . Oviedo
. . .
. Diame. Osman.
. . Barkley.
. . .
. Anichebi. . Pienaar.
. . . . Kone.

Others Include

Springthorpe, Stones, Garbutt, Lundstram, Kennedy, and Vellios.

Dero. {Ed025's Note - very happy dero..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Not sure I would have Jags right back and Coleman centre half like and I think we're getting a bit ahead of ourselves with Moses. ;)

Agree0 Disagree0

Would be more than happy, but can't see us hang the finances to bring in those players (even though they aren't really expensive) without selling Fellaini or Baines.

As for the line ups, for me, Kone is an all round better striker than Jelavic and has shown he can already play in Martinez's 4-3-3 system. Yes, his age and price was a concern, but on the pitch, he offers us genuine pace, ability to hold the ball up and play with his back to ago, ability to run and take on defenders, scored and assisted more than Jelavic last season.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed, do you think Martinez will play us with 3 centre halfs? {Ed025's Note - he prefers that, but it will be hard for him to introduce it straight away, so i think he may start 4-4-2 to start with..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He will be playing with 3 centre halfs, jags, Alcaraz and Probly johnny, with Oviedo and seamus wingbacks that's why he is trying to buy a winger with mirrales on one wing and maybe mcgeady/Moses on the other with either felli or a strong box to box player in the middle with konehead and jelly up top

There will be a few surprise exits, along with baines

Just read that kone won't be joining the rest of the squad till the end of the month! If that's true he will miss half of the preseason games! Was looking forward to seeing how he gets on! got to wait longer now :- (

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He joins the squad next week not the end of the month
