How is overrated Leighton Baines, who is valued at £18m lol, he is worth about £12m.
But in fairness he is the best LB in the League, he really is not, Cole is far better

im sure we have only signed one wigan player this window and are still the same team that they have been looking up at in the table for the last two years even with spending mega money, personally happy with our signings well little gutted about kone as his age and record isn't great but still i'm excited to see what he can do in a blue shirt playing with far better players

Look at last season's stats - compared with Jelavic and Anichebe, Kone scored more, passed more, dribbled more, tackled more, created more chances and had more assists. Give the guy a chance! He's only as old as Van Persie!

Although Geography was never my strong subject at school all those years ago I would be surprised if there was a Wigan in Spain, a Wigan in the Ivory Coast and a Wigan in Paraguay, maybe one but surely not all three!

It's ironic as Liverpool used to be known as Everton Athletic and that is legitimate fact by the way

Surely the kopites must have known they changed their name (well any decent supporter would) and as we all now they look up to us these days perhaps they just want us to be known as their team as well so they can support us both and not have soar necks next season

So are Man United now 'Manerton' - because they got our old manager and about three of our back room staff and are hoping to sign at least one of our players?

So when we and Manerton stuff Liverpool home and away next season we can say we've done the quadruple on them, and both finished higher!

Loving the speed at which Robbie is conducting his business, everytime I go on the internet we've signed someone. I know people will say all this ex-wigan cack, but they're proven premier league players who will add to the squad, and a decent young keeper who played well from what I saw last season. I for one am excited by the window so far and can't wait to see what else he's got planned. In Roberto I Trust!

No worries as far as i'm concerned if Utd pay up then we move on, but if they don't we still keep a very good player.

It's the TV who have put the price tag on him not Everton.

If you believe all of the papers then today this is what is supposed to have happened depending on what paper or TV station you have read or watched:

We're holding out for £20mil
We've put a price tag of £18mil
Baines is asking for a transfer tomorrow
Baines has already informed chairman Bill Kenwright of his decision to leave
United have bid £13mil
United have bid £12mil

And all of this I tell you now has come from United and their luvvies in the press and none of it has actually happened. They do this every time to unsettle the player.

If you asked each reporter where they got their info from they would all tell you the same - from up their own a*se!

I was speaking to neville southall a few months ago, and I asked him if he would do it, and his reply was he wasnt asked as certain people didn't want big players from past at the club in a top first team coaching role, it was aimed at moyes

Wants to go back to the states when he retires.

I no he is signing players that he knows and one of the 3 was a free agent but I'm impressed by the speed they are coming in now rm is in and has his team sorted. Transfer abs personal fees agreed quickly. Allows him more time to go for the big player that we all want

I'm with you on this one Ed. I think he is shoring up the holes in the team i. e. Centre Back - Alcaraz (Free) Centre forword - Kone (5mil), Goalkeeper - Robles (800k by all accounts), cheaply but with premier experience and quality, which will leave a good amount in the pot for a surprise signing.

Almost surely a midfielder could it be Honda? or Moses? or Dyer? or Chantome?

My head is going to explode! {Ed025's Note - put a chin strap on your hat john.. :)

Must admit though Ed it's great to see them come in early, ready for preseason.

If we manage to ship heitinga out, Martinez will move in for Ashley Williams. Sakho will also be looked at, although he will be costly, finding a long term replacement for Distin is very important along with competition for his and Jagielka's place in the team. However if we still have Heitinga, a move for a high profile CB will not be viable.

Kone and Alcaraz. Not exactly mouthwatering and yet there is something about the pure fact they have signed that means I'm extremely excited to see them pull on the shirt. Certainly optimistic and not disappointed. Hope we can keep hold of the big assets and we could have a better season than last year despite all the usual writers off.

Probably feel like that because we are so starved of buying players you feel like that mate. I think they'll both do well for us though, looking forward to the new season

Decent early business. Add Moses and Honda whilst keeping our players would be our best transfer window for a decade. Until they go elsewhere it's possible.

alcaraz (free) robles (loan) and moses (loan) would be good business and add necessary depth to the squad. diame and honda would make it a seriously good window for everton.

A £10 million bid from Manchester United for the England left‑back has been rejected, and their next attempt is still expected to be some way short of the Merseyside club's valuation.

David Moyes, the new United manager, is eager to make his former defender his first major signing since he replaced Sir Alex Ferguson as manager at Old Trafford.

Everton have stood firm demanding for £20 million for their defender and the Merseyside club are unlikely to budge if United offer only a slight improvement to their opening offer.

Baines returned to Everton training on Monday. Fully aware of United's interest, he may feel torn as to how to respond given his loyalty to Everton but ambition to compete for the title and play in the Champions League.

Not sure I would have Jags right back and Coleman centre half like and I think we're getting a bit ahead of ourselves with Moses. ;)

Would be more than happy, but can't see us hang the finances to bring in those players (even though they aren't really expensive) without selling Fellaini or Baines.

As for the line ups, for me, Kone is an all round better striker than Jelavic and has shown he can already play in Martinez's 4-3-3 system. Yes, his age and price was a concern, but on the pitch, he offers us genuine pace, ability to hold the ball up and play with his back to ago, ability to run and take on defenders, scored and assisted more than Jelavic last season.
