If Wenger doesn't agree with the loan system why has he used it to ship Chamakh out to Palace?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

And why did he sign Kim Kallstrom? What if he had played every game, scored a few goals that kept them way ahead in 4th? You'd hear nothing about it. Just because he is a pile of crap and can't kick a ball doesn't mean Wenger isn't a low life hypocrite bitter against any team who gets the better of him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not that I am a fan of his but he does not really have an issue with it. His issue is with them not being able to play against their parent clubs. I agree with this as it does not make for an equal playing field. Maybe loans should only be on an international or inter league basis.
Having said that I believe it was Paul Lambert who on selling Stephen Ireland to Stoke made a point of putting in the contract he was not allowed to play against Villa so. if it can be done on permanent transfers why not in the loan system.
Either way the fact is we have broken no rules so anyone complaining should focus their attentions on the authorities and the rules behind transfers not on Everton who have done nothing but play to the rules allowed to us.

The Martin Samuel article stinks of a type of 'devils advocate' journalism, which I think is excellent and makes intriguing reading, but ultimately devoid of any substance.

How can anyone argue that loan signings improving a team is unfair? Why would you loan a player if not to improve your team? A club doesn't loan a player, give him a run out for the reserves and show him what the night life is like on a saturday night out on Dale Street. Loan signings are supposed to benefit both clubs, allowing the player to play competitive football with players nearer to his own level and of character building.

The financial argument is equally bizarre, we would have to pay £50m, well yes we would!? If Martin Samuel lives in a plush, suburban London house (which I'm guessing he does) I want him to do as follows. Walk down the street, knock on Joe Bloggs' door and tell him he wants him off the street and out the house because unlike big Mart, he's only renting the property. In effect he is saying you only deserve what you can buy outright, if that was the case I for one would be living in the back seat of my Clio.

We need to push investment in youth development and be wily in the loan market in order to continue to make strides. I think ultimately Arsene is peeved that whilst we have Rom, GB and Stepovers he loaned Kallstrom who fell over on a beach and slipped a disc.

{Ed025's Note - good read that CB...i think martin has some competition on his hands..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I was thinking the exact same thing shakey waah haaa haaa

I was also made up to see their season effectively finished, & them empty handed. However, I for one, want to see Moyes there for quite a while yet. I believe he has a glass ceiling, manager wise, that being 6th, 7th or 8th in the prem. Whilst I'd like to see them much lower, I'm trying to be realistic. Give them a few seasons without Europe & let's all watch both their glory hunting fans & greedy, overpaid players drift away.

hi ed its been a while but just a quick observation on the loan debate, they keep using the lukaku / chelsea argument, does it not register with these clowns that we beat chelsea at home and out played them at the bridge only loosing in the final minutes to a dodgy goal. delafaou can play against anybody, and city have still to come to goodison. so does this not defeat the argument. oh and neither chelsea nor city have put six past us on their turf so nads to you wenger!. grbefc

Just a thought about Saturday's game against Sunderland. With Gareth Barry on 9 yellows, should we rest him with the games against Palace and Utd coming up in quick succession next week? Sunderland look to be in a mess at the bottom, despite games in hand, so should we maybe move John Stones into the holding midfield role alongside James McCarthy for this game to ensure Barry is available fot the two home games? Just a thought because GB would be a huge loss against better opposition at Goodison.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i see your logic davey, but they are fighting for their lives, for me we will need barry in that game, if he does get booked, i think its then that we make the changes mate..

I hear your sentiments Ed, but with Alcaraz available (or Jags apparently ready to return), Gareth Barry deserves a breather and remember he can't play against City-where we're bound to seek a placement for one match.

Traditional 442:- howard, coleman, distan, stones, baines, mcgeady, barkley, mccarthy, mirallas, naismith, lukaku. This is the set up i'd like to see against both sunderland and palace so we definitely have gb both available but more importantly fresh for the Manchester United game. Think the 442 could cause both those teams problems particularly from naismiths movement and lukakus power. Wingers would have field days against their respective full backs, but the 442 formation would give us and roberto an insight at how much james mac has learned from gb and whether barkley and james mac could hold a midfield together for future or if they would be over run. Both are arguably young enough to cover the ground as they are incredible athletes, but my only worry would be if barkley would go missing when defending. If we were to switch to a 442, I would suspect both full backs would not attack simultaneously. What are everyones thoughts?

Agree0 Disagree0

We haven't played 442 all season and I doubt it will happen now

Agree0 Disagree0

We should go 451. If Barry goes out you'd keep JMac in the holding role and play a fluid 5 ahead of him, like Bayern do. 442 is too rigid for Martinez and I don't think we will ever see him start a game with it. If he was to go 2 up top he would sooner play his 3 at the back.

On a night I'm sad about Sandy Brown this KH has just posted from The Daily Mail (God I hate that right wing rag).
Everton fairytale has us hooked - shame it's built on £50m loan sham of Lukaku, Barry and Deulofeu (so Wenger's right to moan)
Everton's good season has been built around loan players such as Romelu Lukaku, Gareth Barry and Gerard Deulofeu
The Toffees have done nothing wrong but loan system is flawed
Lukaku, Barry and Deulofeu would cost more than £50m.
Good night Sandie, you played in an age when there were better journalists than the people we have to put up with.

To label our fantastic season as a 50m pound farce is disrespectful. The loan system has been used brilliantly by RM, and bitters are upset because we are doing very well for our financial situation. The loan system is very useful for clubs who lack the finances to gout ay who they want, and that jeopardises the nature of the Fair play rules?! I don't mind us ruffling a few feathers though, nobody would can't doing so well.

Agree0 Disagree0

Firstly, love the site, first time poster. I may be looking at this through rose tinted spectacles being an Everton fan but correct me if I'm wrong but aren't we paying for these loans?. I'm pretty sure ol' Jose didn't turn to Roberto and say here have a top class player for free this season, I'll even throw in a Persian rug and a Curley Wurley if you take him off my hands!.

There's obviously loan fees involved, I'm sure we've spent millions on bringing in Lukaku on loan for the season with no chance of recouping any of that from selling him on, something a permanent transfer would have likely allowed. It's a guaranteed 100% loss on that player and in any business, football or otherwise a 100% loss is shocking. Permanent transfers give the buyer the opportunity to acquire a commodity that can be sold on for a profit or only a minor loss unless the selling team are completely inept. Therefore the gaining Europe via the loan market is a just reward for making such net losses on players and should be considered on a level playing field and as fair as any permanent transfer.

So Wenger, shut yer gob, you're just running scared. Sure he wouldn't have mentioned it if he was still fighting Chelsea, city and Liverpool for the title.

{Ed025's Note - spot on gibbo.. as corporal jones would say.."they dont like it up em"..

This daily mail article is everything that's wrong with premier league. It's all about the top four, a closed shop unless you're owned by a billionaire.

It mentions the ffp as if it's been around for ten years and the top four have been biding by the rules. News flash. The ffp is there because they havnt. The reason we have to use the loan market is because the champions league has seen to it that for nearly 20 years four teams have started each campaign with 20 million more than anyone else whilst being supported by their wealthy owners pockets on top of that.

It's like turning up for a football match and being told you can't play because you borrowed your boots because your dad is out of work. Selfish elitist crap.

I only read this article because I know how moronic the daily mail is, and I wasn't disappointed

{Ed025's Note - its hard to argue with that ace..

WE don't care one little bit what anybody says or feels about our loan deals this season. They are just panicking in case we break up the big clubs which they are all in ore of.
We are Everton, we go the game, we support our club, we stand alone. That's just what we do.
DEAL WITH IT!

Agree0 Disagree0

My honest opinion is that no team should be aloud to loan a player to another team in the same league. In the days of super rich owners what is to stop them buying up all the best players and loaning out what they don't really want or need to teams in their own league. These players can then play against anyone apart from the parent club putting the parent club at an unfair advantage we would of beat Chelsea at the other week if the big fella would of been able to play for us
But saying all that if the rules don't change I hope we do it again next year!!
