Well we are currently on a roll (finally) . After some poor performances/ games we've witnessed this season this is a very welcome change of fortune. The stand out game for me was the fantastic performance against West Ham. I'm over the moon with wins against Chelsea and Arsenal too. But if anything, for me this has highlighted how wasteful we are in front of goal. We should have definitely scored more, I'm not trying to be overly critical as we did enough in each game. DCL yesterday put in a great display and I think he will get better but we need more clinical attackers. Bernard needs to add goals to his game. He had a gift yesterday and still fluffed it. I'd go as far to say I even praised Walcott when he came on and that never happens. I would also like to echo the other posts about signing Gomes and Zouma permanently if possible.

I thought we played well again yesterday and fully deserved a 3 or 4 goal win. On another day the players that missed those chances would take them all so no point in being too critical of them for missing. The whole team again played well and there were no passengers.

Don't believe Bernard's was as easy as you think. Felt the keeper closed him down really quick and gave him little to aim at. Would rather focus on how he read what the defender was going to do to get himself in that position.
The goals will come as the confidence builds. And on a final note it's nice to have a manager who shows passion on the touch line. Long may it continue.

Bernard should have taken the shot earlier but that is being overly critical as it wasn't an easy chance.
It is nice to see Silva celebrating with passion and I will be over the moon when we score in next season's derby and he does a lap of the pitch whilst cartwheeling around like a loon.

I don't think DCL missed many chances so talk of a more clinical striker is a little off the mark. The chances we created would have gone in on another day. What pleased me most was the clean sheet again and how we restricted them to very few chances but at the same time created loads ourselves. It is as Silva says. a confidence thing. On another day we could hav scored 5 or 6 against West Ham and 2 or 3 against Arsenal. But teams that do that are few and far between.

We are not suddenly going to sign Aguero or Sterling. So what we need is continual improvement. We have done that this season. We are creating chances and we are at last restricting our opponents to few chances. That gives us a platform to build from. We were like this in the 80's and signed Graeme Sharpe. He looked like DCL and most thought he would not be good enough. He was thought not clinical enough. How it turned out was somewhat different.

To be fair Degsy DCL has come on leaps and bounds but has also missed some real sitters this season.
We need a striker who will score them, we aren't going to have it all our own way in every game.
We need to be more clinical and that is not just DCL.

To be fair degsy, Sharps derby goal that not even the camera could keep up with lacked any sort of clinical technique. (There’s no better goal that I can remember in a royal blue jersey)

I have to say I don't remember him missing too many sitters but maybe that's my blue brain in action?

I did say clinical attackers and I wasn't singling any particular player out really (just the Bernard chance stuck in my head) although it seems everyone thinks I'm on DCL's case, I'm not. If I was to look to a player, it would have been Sigurdsson as he seemed to have the most wasted chances that I remember. As I said though we did enough to get the wins and the points on the board and I was very happy.

With regards to the final league position there's a lot of work still to be done. We have Man Utd and Spurs still left to play I think the chances of 7th are optimistic at best but I would love to be very wrong on that. The summer transfer window should be quite interesting with the ins and outs.

I don’t know why we persist with zonal marking? 3 clean sheets in a row and 5 out of6. 😜.

Singing, the defence still gets caught out. The real difference is fitness levels, pressing and doubling up in the tackle, because of it we even came back strong second half against a side that always do that. Impressive.

last two games great results and good performances, but let's not get carried away, both West Ham and Arsenal performed the way everyone who plays them would like to, but made to look worse by our good play.

Been calling for that for literally months BillyDean. That Squad of the 80's had skill but also that tactic/ method of doubling up and it worked really well. Royles warriors also worked hard but with less skill. The place was rocking yesterday, entertainment yes but first and foremost the will to win.

{Ed025's Note - and thats all we have been asking for BCT, commitment, hard work and some entertainment...and they gave it in bucket full,s yesterday, we are starting to look like a very good team but the hard work is just starting, we must secure the likes of gomes, zouma and gana or find top quality replacements mate..

Whoever brought the siren idea in deserves credit, it has got Goodison from out of the Library and into fortress Goodison again, once Goodison is in full cry, there is no other ground anywhere as intimidating.

Feel we need to get that Europa spot now to force them to spend in the summer. I know it’s a lot on the squad but if we want to push on we need to get used to the extra games season after season.

I have criticized Silva in the past especially after the Newcastle game but the games since that collapse have shown that we have the right idea going forward we just need the right personnel.

When evaluating the season based on what was inherited and what Silva and Brands have brought in I can say I see a major difference. Bernard started slowly and barely started but that was mainly because he had no pre season after being out with injury but now with fitness levels better and a run in the team we are finally seeing what he is all about. Zouma has been a rock and will take some doing to keep him permanent. Mina, looks injury prone and a modern day Woodgate, so that's a minus.

Digne, his stats back this up and that is that he is the he best lb in the league atm for crosses, chances created and possession won, Gomes, don't need to highlight this as it's plain to see what he brings, then there is Richarlison, who has his faults with his play acting but he is still young and learning this league, remember Ronaldo was the same and look at how he turned out.

So these signings have improved us and our style of football regardless of if we finish the same place as last season or not and if this blueprint is used as the template going forward than we will see the right personnel and finally the right, modern way of playing football. It took our neighbours 3 years to implement their managers style of play and it ain't harmed them so why not have the same patience and see how far our current set up can take us with the right backing.

I ain't against Silva anymore I see what I believed and read when we appointed him and that's a good coach with a good footballing philosophy and most of all dedication. Let's have it right we ain't going to win the league next season but if we carry the early season and last 4 games form into next season we can certainly ruffle some feathers of the supposed top 6.

I am with you mate. Too many were writing him off but the players he signed are the ones now making a difference. When you think of the money that top 4 clubs have thrown at their squads over the last 10 years, Silva has done amazing to get us anywhere near their standard in half a season!
