We looked like the away team tonite! should we be happy with a point? These are the points that make me disappointed after tonight's game, we still look like we are lacking confidence why?
My opinion of the team
Robles - improving as he gets games
Oviedo - decent performance tonight never let's the team down
Jags - getting back to his old self
Stones - quality and assured player
Coleman - better but not the performances of old to much talk of big transfers has affected him
Barry - got his big pay packet doesn't offer the team anything now well past his sell by!
McCarthy - welcome back
Besic - always 100% but always taken off by RM why?
Mirallas - biding time waiting for his move, not sure why he was taken off still has that something special up his sleeve
Naismith - has loads of endeavour and heart but sadly lacks some quality
Lukaku - really needs an aggressive edge needs to be more Costa and less coffee!
Lennon - looks sharp and is well worth a start!

so most of the team played well in your report and your disappointed! sort of contradicting your self. but I do agree to some points, we did look like the away team, we looked ok at the back but going forward cutting edge is lacking, rom need some serious ball control practice, when we break his touch let's us down badly

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Feb 2015 22:08:33
The strategy for RM is clear. He said his goal is 40 points.

Well, 14 more draws and he can have 41 points and say the team exceeded expectations.

And lose 6-nil on aggregate to the silly team from Switzerland.

14 games. play Barkley, Besic, Lennon.every week. And get Garbutt and Browing out there. Wow, Robles is looking better every week. Why didn't we keep Jelavic or Vic? Same offsides and ball control, for a lot less money.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

08 Feb 2015 00:23:44
Yes but its also a lot less goals. Lukaku has more goals in 1 and a half seasons then anichebe got in 7 seasons, and he's younger! And less injury prone! And so much better! And don't get me started on kanchelskis'.sh*te twin jelavic

Agree0 Disagree0

Most posters say we should play Besic McArthy Barkley in midfield with lennon on one wing Mirallas on the other with Lukaku up front. The only problem for me is Lennon, I could be wrong but I do not remember him being played on the left which means one position is static.

Sorry ed stiil so unhappy with this manager, he's just been quoted as saying, 'I want to see Ross starting to enjoy playing again'.
In the last month all he's saying is about the players 'enjoyement'.
Well excuse me mate how about the providing the bloody supporters who pay your massive salary with some enjoyment rather than the weekly dross we've experienced for over a year now.
Growl, off to bed now, sorry but I really was hoping for fireworks tonight, instead we got a 1d sparkler (now that's showing me age).

Believable0 Unbelievable0

To be honest in my old age I am pleased to see we are at last getting the defence right first. For me also Roberto is not the right manager because I/we know he is going to revert to type. I am of the School of thought that a 1-0 win is a win, oh yeah Roberto and that means whether it is from open play, free kicks or corners.

Agree0 Disagree0

Just read the ssn ap and the scores they awarded everyone for the match. Besic a 6. Mc Carthy 6 and Gerrard a 7. I must have watched a different match.

Its everywhere mate, according to the mail, jordan 'headless chicken fake hardman sideways' henderson was better than besic today. Jordan 'hit the post and done bugger all else' ibe was also motm today apparently. Also apparantly sky gave the motm award to a liverpool player which just baffles me, dunno who it was, probably that emre can, the one who 'bullied lukaku' (if running into your own corner flag for 2 minutes and then going left right left right left right before getting pushed over by the wind means youve bullied a striker then johny heitinga is the best centre back on the planet) or it wouldn't shock me if it was gerrard. So biased, some papers will give, for example, stones an 8 but another will give him a 5 saying he struggled, makes sense.

I have given a lot of stick as of late and a lot of it warranted but I take a lot of positives out of today's game. I know it wasn't out best performance going forward bit we've been so poor at the back this season I love watching a solid everton team once more. Stones and jags look great together Joel makes hard saves look easy. Besic and McCarthy could be the best midfield pairing in the league! And Martinez changing his tactics and getting it right in my opinion. Let's get behind the team now because I think we've got an outside chance at Europa. If we managed to win it it would go down as our best season for decades

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Win the Europa?
I like an optimist mate but are you having a laugh?

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Feb 2015 23:41:12
Statd don't lie Kingy, we didn't play well. Only one chance of note, Seamus in 2nd half, although they didn't have many either. If any blue is happy with a scoreless draw against that lot then I despair. We are running out of games to grab points, I think we are lucky that there are at least 4 teams that are worse than us or I'd fear the worst

Agree0 Disagree0

Like I said it wasn't our best game but why are we in a relegation battle? Because we haven't defended well all season. How many times have we had great stats possession/shots ect and lost by 2 or 3 goals. After the run we've had it has to be back to basics. Stop hemeraging goals and we've got a platform to hopefully start winning games again. I can guarantee if we went out there yesterday with the same attitude that we had 5 or 6 weeks ago we would of got stuffed 4 or 5 nil. I'm not an optimist mate I'm a realist!

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Feb 2015 21:03:08
Dreadful, sorry dreadful.
The only bright spot was that shower paid millions more for their 'tippy tappy' approach than we did.
Was that a derby? Dear God, 'Beam me up Scotty'.
One shot on target, we will stay up but if any of the Martinez fan club posters would like to defend this boring, sterile approach I would be interested to read the way forward here.
One shot at the Glad end with Grandad Gerard on his last legs in the last 20 minutes.
This bloody Liverpool side played a 90 minute Cup Game Wednesday night guys!
Two years ago we were two or three signings from having a team to compete.
Tonight?
But we did get a draw- shame on all those who accept that.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I was bored s#§¥~less mushy but I do love besic mate :)

Agree0 Disagree0

The object of football is to win or at the very least not lose, the attitude of this poster is far more akin with Mr Martinez than they think. The draw at least shows that Roberto is recognizing the need to at times get the defence right first.

Agree0 Disagree0

Couldn't agree more mignolet a mere spectator making 1 save from Coleman in the entire match.
Only 1 team wanted to win it & it wasn't us 4 sure very negative.
Mind u cast your mind back to the heavy 4-0 defeat @ Anfield last season where they carved us open @ will so can't have it both ways.
No service for lukaku again but he's very frustrating being caught offside time & again.

Ed025: we said we'd review our situation after this evening's fixture, so what is your assessment of where we now are?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - he has run away to Spain. Not sure if that was due to this performance or he is on the run from the police......}

I guess he's a fugitive because - if the mischievious stories are true - he was caught on CCTV trying out his budgie-smugglers in a strictly one-way system ;-)

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Feb 2015 19:58:34
Positives, McCarthy back, Besic just looks better and better, Stones rock solid, and Coleman getting back to his old self. Negatives, still look slow going forward, hopefully Lennon will help with this. Three holding midfielders is to many. Now Macca is back we can play Ross again, just let him do what he does.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

07 Feb 2015 20:53:35
Which is nothing but lose the ball, i'd play macca and besic, mirallas, lennon, naismith and lukaku

Agree0 Disagree0

Kevin average today, Naisy lovely lad works hard but can't pass. Ross makes mistakes but also creates chances. But I tell you what let's not play exciting attacking football. Let's just lump it up the pitch and never leave our half. Like watching bloody basketball today. But hey we got a point!

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Feb 2015 22:55:49
i agree with swan

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Feb 2015 23:45:21
Barkley should play in the middle with Besic And Jimmy Mac. Despite what Swan says, this is his best position, one where he can be effective in games. At least then we don't have too many defensive midfielders, we set up for a draw today rather than going for the win. Negative but it worked I suppose

Agree0 Disagree0

Thing is to play barkley Roberto has to drop one of Barry, Besic or McArthy, no prizes for guessing which one. In the time of DM we accused him of having his favourites well this bloke takes it further, there is no way he would take Barry out of the Team if fit,

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Feb 2015 19:43:56
Another clean sheet and another unbeaten fixture - that's two good things.
We didn't do enough to win the game - who could genuinely say otherwise - so a point is welcome imho.
We set up to stop the opposition's pace and attacking threat, which we did pretty well - and overall we were being tactically very cautious.
On a cheeky note, we win this season's home & away league fixtures against the darkside on away goals.
:-)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

07 Feb 2015 19:36:01
Was same old apart from a clean sheet we looked amature at best I am beginning to hate the team, literally hate watching them.
I think we're the slowest team in all 4 divisions, I think Barry is awful, well the whole team are besic aside.
Martinez had no answers we were playing for a draw

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Barry was rubbish again mate

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Feb 2015 19:25:58
Roberto it's time to go!!!

Besic best player on pitch and taken off, alcaraz should never play again. Barry was dire, slow predictable and gave away to many free kicks.

Lukaku was shattered should of brought him off and put Kone on. Roberto what do you see. One shot on target!! Very very poor but at least a clean sheet and robles is looking more assured.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He played alongside Besic against QPR and scored a beauty and created loads of chances in that position. Hsn't played there since!!Your comments are spot on!!

Agree0 Disagree0

Besic took off as a precaution imo.booked and was getting frustrated.Mccarthy booked and was his 5th yellow so I think he is banned for next game.no point losing besic too

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Feb 2015 20:58:01
It took a deflection and anyone could look good playing against qpr, him in central midfield would be like having mcgeady right back. he's basically a more unreliable, fatter and lazier version of barry, without the ability to tackle people #clevsisbetterthanbarkley

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Feb 2015 18:21:52
Really think we should change Barry for Barkley just think Barry gives us nothing now, can't pass or tackle to many free kicks and gives possession away to often, great to have McCarthy back!
We need to create more second half we almost look happy with a draw!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

07 Feb 2015 23:01:13
Totally agree Wak, but it seems a lot of our supporters don't want creative players, they make mistakes. Our mid should be Macca, Besic and Ross with Lennon on one wing and Kev on the other Luk up top. Job done.

Does anyone know who liverpool are playing today as all's I've heard so far is bloody liverpool and believe it or not it's Gerrard's last derby!!
we are in trouble as Sky have well and truly influenced this game. my bet penalty with Gerrard taking it.
Please, please blue boys win this game!!

There's a good article on the BBC sport/football page at the moment on the lost team in Liverpool. There's a team called Liverpool Caledonians that played in the Victorian era that local historians are trying to trace. I think yakubu played for them! And yes, I know it's not Everton, but thought some of you might be interested in the local history. If your not too drunk before the game.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Ha ha the yak played for them, that made me laugh Lee. Seriously though I did read the article about the lost team, was interesting. Saying that, the way this derby was built up through the week you would of been forgiven if you thought Everton was the lost team in Liverpool.

Ed. Would it be possible for someone to go back through the records and see when was the last time we were able to start our strongest regular 11 against the rs. I seriously can't remember. now no baines!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - That's your homework assignment for the rest of the weekend, SWG. It'll be interesting to see the results and fair play to your for volunteering. :)

07 Feb 2015 15:08:25
Is anybody else getting irritated by the Gerrard show? The headlines have been written already! All I want is a fair game aslong as the ref doesn't get seduced by the stevie g love story I can see us beating these shower of horrible chaps today! Besic will be key! The rest of the lads need to watch this kid play and put a shift in the way he does. We need to get right in their faces from the first to last whistle. Forget about form and tactics player for player Liverpool aren't better than us time to stand up and be counted blue boys

We are everton

Robles
Coleman stones jags baines
Besic Barry
lennon naismith super kev
Lukaka

Mccarthy; barkley; kone to come on when or if required

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Zulutoffee: looks like a good lineup, but I woudnt be surprised (disappointed, but not surprised) if McGeady starts (with Lennon in the bench) and McCarthy (although probably not ready) also starts in place of Besic.
My preference - if these players are truly fit - would be a 4-3-3 formation: Robles - Coleman Stones Jagielka Baines - McCarthy Besic Barry - Lennon Lukaku Mirallas.

07 Feb 2015 15:26:17
Sorry degsy, is this you lying again? don't remember ever mentioning rooney should of stayed, or moyes tbh. I was happy moyes went and i'm hardly gutted rooney didn't stay 'loyal' like osman, because osman stayed after a bid from Manchester United at the age of 19 didn't he oh wait, he's never had an offer ever. Haha 'expected loyalty', oh yeah because moyes was me fav wasnt he

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd read it again swan. Then pretend u got the joke first time. Nice one degsy!!

Agree0 Disagree0

I remember you moaning about Moyes and his lack of loyalty Swan. I think I remember you acting in a similar way about Rooney and the fact he was not loyal to us. My point was the fact that you show no loyalty to our loyal players like Osman. You are totally disrespectful to him in the same way as you are disrespectful to me when you post utter drivel like you do. Then you resort to calling me a liar or tell me to go off and support Manchester United just because Fellaini is scoring goals and helping them up the table. I only point this out because I am irritated by your comments about ex players (who again you show no respect what so ever). I will put another post about your accusations that I am a liar!

And as the Bible states,
The Red hordes descended to honour and pay homage to the son of the beast.
But the Lord was displeased with their outpourings and Gabriel's sword dispatched them to eternal suffering.
And there was great gnashing of teeth in the wilderness.

Just one problem, Jimmy ain't played for a few years now so Lukaku will have to do it.

Just one request, please let duncan do the team talk, before the lads go out, and if by chance we win, the spanish bullsh. er can take the credit, just like he did last season when he was gifted a full working defence until he f. ed with it.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hopefully one of our players will be a hero today by scoring the winner. I don't care who scores as long as we win! The kopites think they've already won this game.
