Cleverley doesn't excite me but names like Guidetti, Sako and Meireles make me worry!

It was talksport who had us going for John guidette not very reliable think mystic meg must do there transfer gossip as far as meireles he was poor at best when he was with the reds so why would we want another 32 year old player in midfield when we have ie osman piennar barry all in there 30s and gibson who has the fitness of 40 year old so think that is club trying to sell him for 4 million euros ed is there any news on us making a move for nolito as r number 10 seen him play few times and he is a quality player he scores and creates lots chances plus it give Barkley someone to learn from

In the wake of the Cleverley signed ( I am reserving judgement as he isn as bad as we all think, he's not that good either, & is similar to most of our midfielders in that he doesn seem to find a killer ball an assist or many goals) I thought i'd throw a list of signings we didn want who turned out ok & vice versa
S**t list
Nic Alexandersson - delighted when we signed him. Was awful lightweight no end product, useless!
John Collins - Outshone by Olly Dacourt & Don Hutchison, never moved the ball quick enough and played his better games when he was leavin or as emergency right back.
Simon Davies - Enough said.
Alex Nyarko - compared to Vieria, how?
Stephen Hughes- a few goals against watford one a ehoppin free kick that got us back in a cup tie, one in an easy home win, waste of money that was given away halfway into a 3yr deal.
Richard Wright- remember one great save at home to blackburn, nothin else! Fell out the loft then hurt hinself on a sign that stated he couldn train where he was training.
John Heitinga - maybe a shock to some peopl, but he had one good season the rest was a lot of mistakes and gifted goals to opposition, although if we had a 25 year old him now he'd fit right in.

Surprising
Darron Gibson - Better player than we all thought, just never fit.
James McCarthy- so many people thought we wasted money, they were wrong.
Landon Donovan- again, much better quality than most thought, we were all desperate to keep him
Aaron Lennon- Same as the others.

Theres a few as I need to run, but the point is now we have cleverley we should get behind him & not give him grief straight away, just be worried he isn replacing
somebody

Good post, worth thinking about, we will have to wait and see. I will get behind the lad until I have a reason to dislike him in a blue shirt

When we find ourselves in times of trouble
Cleverley will comfort me
5 yard backwards passes, Cleverley.

And in our home of Goodison
We all watch in disbelief
playing sideways passes, Cleverley.
Cleverley Cleverley, Cleverley Cleverley
The blues have found a saviour, Cleverley.

And when the happy of the people
All watching in awe agree
That we all know the answer, Cleverley,

And although we may all be fooled
There is still a chance that we will see
The footballing genius, Cleverley.
Cleverley Cleverley, Cleverley Cleverley
5 yard backwards passes, Cleverley.

And when the night is cloudy
There is still a man that we all see
A footballing maestro, Cleverley.

Playing to the sound of music
Cleverley is just unique
Playing the game with wisdom, Cleverley.
Cleverley Cleverley, Cleverley Cleverley
We've finally found the answer, Cleverley.

hahaha quite possibly the best post I've seen on this site Mike!

But joking aside, as much as I don't rate TC, it is our duty as fans to get behind him until he gives us a reason to dislike him. Getting on his back before pre-season has started is not what Everton is about

I wonder how it feels to join a club knowing that hardly any of the fans want you here and the fans of the 2 clubs you left behind are delighted you have gone. I suppose the 50k a week makes it a little easier. Cleverley is now on more money than mccarthy. Unbelievable.

Yeah but he played under Ferguson so is world class.

06 Jun 2015 13:44:46
Anyone who genuinely thinks that picking up a 25 yr old, current England international with lots of Premier League exp. (and a winners' medal to boot)is not good business for our club really is a little bit sad!!

I'm not saying he is world class or my fav player, but what do you expect us to do? Go out and buy Pogba or Vidal? Of course, everyone knows how wealthy we are. Why not splash the cash!!

Come back to reality! We have just acquired an 8-10m pound player for nothing!! Whatever way you look at it this is good business for Everton. You can say he is sh@te all you want. but most of you don't have much of a reliable track record in your judgement of talent, do you?
I have heard the same rubbish about Coleman, Barry, Naisy, McCarthy, Fellaini, Gibbo etc. etc. Yep you were all spot on about those guys!!

This is a Great bit of business for the Blues so stop all the nonsense and get behind the player. If he turns out to be awful we can sell him on for a decent fee. Wow! How terrible!!

Amen. I remember what was said about Coleman. Give Clevs a chance. A lot of time to go to see how RM and Blues front office fills out the squad b

06 Jun 2015 15:59:18
his England caps are irrelevant. He has more than Le Tissier, if you could have one at their pomp who would you have. He isn't free, 2m signing on fee and 50k a week. You can mention them players. They weren't crap EVERYWHERE they have been and been hated by EVERYONE they have played under. Anyone who doesn't think it is brilliant business is simply looking at the facts.

Agree0 Disagree2

06 Jun 2015 18:19:43
Well said aflm good business as you say def sell on fee if we chose to sell further down the line

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - maybe thats what we have become as supporters coby..brainwashed into thinking that a player who cant get in any top 10 side is good enough for us, or maybe we can make a fast buck on him!...sad really..

06 Jun 2015 20:17:10
As a business any sell on value is good business IMO as I said before I don't really rate him under fergie many were rating him as a fantastic player like many united players are, providing McCarthy or besic don't make way for him then I don't really c this as terrible business as we are very short on numbers so a few decent frees won't do us any harm like most on here I was one who did not want Lennon, think now most will agree that he done really well and changed a lot of opinions whether we rate clevs or not I hope he will be givin a chance before everyone turns on him

Agree3 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i think they will coby..

07 Jun 2015 10:21:53
He's awful, been terrible all season no better than what we have so is it good business to sign someone who dosnt improve you of course it is, I see a lot of fans saying let's get behind him I was at every home game and it was silent so that's tosh aswell

Agree0 Disagree0

07 Jun 2015 19:04:57
Mike and Ed025 we can't afford to go out and sign the really top players that's sad but also a fact!! So moan all you like but needs must! Would any of us actually look to sign Cleverly if money wasn't an issue. Certainly not! However it is an issue and therefore this is good business.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - good business yes maybe aflm, am i happy to see my club used as a cash cow....no...

08 Jun 2015 01:09:42
You miss my point don't sign him at all, pointless he's an attacking midfielder who didn't create a shot for villa in the final, not goal they never had a shot

06 Jun 2015 12:33:28
Watch Cleverley prove me wrong and single handedly leads us to top 4 next season.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - there is not enough humble pie on the planet if that were to happen QB..

06 Jun 2015 18:16:18
Id take a serving for every single person who slated him Ed.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - as i said QB...theres not enough to go around mate..

06 Jun 2015 08:47:08
Right how about this. Macca and Mo holding mid. Clevs center mid running around kicking anyone and everyone and Ross center Mid standing around watching him. What could possibly go wrong?

I just read an online article regarding the Tom Cleverly signing. The article stated he has been brought in to offer something different in our midfield as he is more of an attacking midfielder and could be used on the left for us. I always believed he was a defensive midfielder but haven't watched too much of him lately. Except for the Cup final in which he was shockingly bad. Where does everyone think he will play for us?

{Ed025's Note - hes a blue now mike...get used to it mate..

06 Jun 2015 10:44:01
i think he may play behind the striker

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - or maybe the top of the diamond bretto?..

06 Jun 2015 16:01:33
attacking midfielder?. The problem ross has is he has no vision and can't support rom. Cleverley has the exact same problem except he's smaller, weaker, slower and much much worse. If this is the 'playmaker' martinez is on about then dark days are ahead. #MartinezOut

06 Jun 2015 10:02:26
Well going by yesterday it's prob more than likely well go for him, I'm actually embarrassed to be an everton fan if anybody asks i'm saying tranmere save some face, poeple saying give him a chance we are everton fans can do one its like signing a heskey or a bramble he's a laughing stock

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - like it or not mike hes here now, would not have been my choice either mate but we will just have to suck it and see..

06 Jun 2015 02:10:06
I'd just like to say give cleverley a chance forgive rated him highly and played him a lot, although granted he has been poor at villa and under moyes at utd but height just be a decent player by no means am I saying he's going to be a world beater but he'll be a good squad player better than Gibson who plays 1 game and is out for 10 after give the guy a chance.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - hes one of us now ryan so the game has changed, clean slate and all that mate..come on clevs..

06 Jun 2015 05:52:17
If Cleverley does half as well as Gibson (a stretch I know) I will have 'I Love Tom Cleverley' tattooed on my manhood. Plus a tattoo of his face on my arse.
