My opinion is that the next three games will determine where we stand this term, tbf we have had a ludicrously difficult 6 fixtures, albeit we didn't play too well against the top teams and Newcastle today, we need to wait and see if we can get back to our old trick of destroying relegation fodder(which, to be fair against Wigan, West Brom and Fulham we were showing we can do again) and then asses whether or not this will be anything more than a tenth -twelfth place finish or sixth-ninth place finish. we need to get 9 points from a possible 9 against Wolves(h), Swansea (a) and Bolton (a), we do that and we are looking at being around seventh or eighth with a game at hand and a very enticing looking Christmas period ahead with the potential of Pienaar and Donovan returning in January, i'd suggest we don't throw the towel in just yet. {Ed025's Note - im not saying throw the towel in mate, but you suggest that some teams around us are relegation fodder, two of our three wins were very lucky, we beat blacburn in the last minute, after being outplayed, and only for the miss by zamora, we could be sitting in the bottom 3, wolves, swansea and bolton will not roll over, and we will have to play a lot better than we have been, to get maximum points....so come on david, get the team motivated, and lets show this league what we are made of!..COYB..

Looking at the fixtures coming up, apart from Arsenal away, every game is winnable. Not to say we will, but we have not got a really tough month of fixtures until feb. {Ed025's Note - all fixtures coming up are going to be tough, you make it sound as though we are better than the sides around us, but with the exception of wigan and blackburn...we are not!

This is not so much of a rumour, more of a critiquee, the type of football we have played since we managed to pries Steve Round (from relegated newcastle utd.) has been woeful, just wondered if anyone else noticed our decline & thought it might be linked? Just a thought!

Hi all, Moyes needs to change the system, I fear if he does not we will be fighting relegation. When Neville got injured to day the boos rang out when Distin came on,not against Distin but Moyes negativity. 2-0 down and brings on a defender for an acting and very poor midfielder. When you look at Everton its no mystery why we are poor in the final 3rd. During most of this season and today we are playing with 8 natural defenders and 1 forward. Natural defenders Hibbert,Neville,Coleman,Jagielka,Heitinga,Rodwell,Distin,and Baines. Alarming, we are not going to win enough games playing so many of these guys. Moyes seems to have no fight in him, which is a reflection of how the team are playing at the moment.The next 5 games will determine if we are going to be fighting relegation or a mid table finish. Barkley, Vellios, Cahill, Gueye need to come in and we need to attack. Everything Moyes has tried has not worked but he is stubbornly sticking to this 4-5-1 and all the fans realise its not working. The next 5 games are winnable but not playing the drivel we are playing at the moment so Moysie come on have a go at least try, its hard to watch that s--t right now.. Do you agree Ed. COYB {Ed001's Note - I don't think anyone can deny that Moyes is far too defensive against the stronger teams. A comment I read further up summed it up for me, saying that it is like he has already accepted defeat before it kicks off. Far too often his first thought is to bring on a defender when he makes a substitution.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Actually the boos where because when distin was on loan there he didnt make his move permanent therefore they hate him :/

Agree0 Disagree0

The boos of 2,300 blues up in the gods at St James Park would not ring around the stadium or register that much on tv. That was clearly the home fans booing. The substitution was as close to a straight swap as Moyes could manage, Johnny into Neville's position and Sylvan into Johnny's. The manager clearly felt that the system didn't need changing. Everton were clearly the better side yesterday but were behind to a freak own goal and an unstoppable wonder strike from a fullback. It's not like we were being outplayed and we were creating chances well enough.

We just need a reliable goal scorer to convert chances into goals. The same can probably be said for 95% of all football clubs!

Agree0 Disagree0

When we got to the fa cup final all we needed to kick on after that was a world class stiker & a right midfielder, but we didn't invest in the squad & this is the consequence of another missed opportunity, under the Kenwright regime

calm down - we've played away at the team currently 3rd in league after run of games where we played chelsea man-u man-c liverpool+ref and now we get to play some normal teams - so we're in false position

but Moyes really does have to look at this appalling record when playing 'top' teams

he just seems top accept we're going to get beat by them instead of sending the lads out to do battle

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Yes its true we have had a hard run of game but 3pts from possible 15 and out of the cup, but last year we won against some of the top teams and drew a couple. Buts its not the points its the manner in which we are playing, no flair, no creativity, and no pace. I have big fear for the rest of the season. We are poor up front but worst than that we cant and dont look capable of keeping a clean sheet despite having more than half a team of defenders. Come on Moysie get the fire back in your belly and pick the lads up and have a go ATTACK, ATTACK and of course ATTACK. COYB.

When Arteta left us in summer I remember reading a lot of fans comments that he was passed his best anyway, injury prone blah blah. I think he has been a massive loss and we miss him BIG time. Watching him for Arsenal he is on fire and is so creative. We must replace him in Jan, don't care who but we have to have a precision passer, I remember Manny Fernandez coming in once who offered us some creativity in the short time he was here. Moyes needs to find a loan signing of that kind in Jan... and then in the summer, we must find an Arteta V2.0... but we all know we need a striker too... Lets pray for that investment... And then lets pray any new owners dont ruin our club.

In mean time, I guess we all gotta really get behind the team now after another poor result today.

Howard-at fault for own goal!
Hibbert-same as usual!
Jagielka- poor first half better 2nd with Distin
Heitinga- didn't look interested
Baines- did ok,didn't get forward as much
Coleman- very poor, can't believe he played whole game
Rodwell- doesn't do enough in games (yes I know he scored)
Osman- tried to get us playing
Neville- looked better when he went off
Drenthe- tried to make something happen, needs to move ball quicker
Saha- not his day but capable of producing that bit of magic

Distin- gave better physical presence
McFadden- looked ok on first game back

Just thought we looked disinterested today, never have enough movement off the ball, need more players around the ball as we give it away far too much with long balls!Missed Felli and desperatly missing Arteta!

no matter what the price we need to sign doumbia, love or pappis cisse i no we dont have much money but spend the money we got of sale and get 1 of them

Still not going to jump on the moyes bandwagon like everyone else.
Last month was hard and nearly every other team would of lost them 4 games, today 1st half was decent and we got the goal and then did nothing in the 2nd half.
Teams are happy for us to have the ball because we can't do anything in the final 3rd. Losing Pienaar and Arteta and not replacing them was a massive mistake, because we keep the ball well but don't create anything !!
Not going to predict anything yet like everyone on here is, the next 3 games are massive if we show same tactics and negativity and lose then we can all start to panic !! {Ed025's Note - i agree with all of that mate..

Need to smash wolverhampton at goodison

We could have taken points in all of the last 6 games but we aren't creating anything. So a mesage to all of you who thought selling Arteta was good business, you were wrong. We are almost at full strength it is a good job there is a lot of dross just above us in the league. I'd take top half now. {Ed025's Note - take top half?????....your in dreamland at the moment mate..

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Be lucky to be in top 15 looking at wigan didnt they hit the bar just after we levelled the scores and thank f***k zamora missed that open goal or we would be bottom no easy games now all fighting for survival lets see whos got the guts for it coz i dont think we have

i am fuming, that was so annoying, we need changes at this clus FAST! coleman had his worst game ever, didnt produce nothin and should have been swapped at half time for barkley, all the talk of us having money to spend in january is probly another lie but if moyes wants 10m to spend SELL BILLY AND JONNY ASAP. i dont hink people realise how bad this season could go, wolves next who will come to us fearing nothing, i can see us loosing again, we are in deep deep sh*t. {Ed025's Note - calm down mate!....i hear what your saying. and agree with most of it....but i still think there are quite a few teams who are worse than us, lets wait a bit, and after the next six games, which i consider to be point gaining opportunities, we will have a better idea of how we stand,,

Believable3 Unbelievable0

Agree strongly mate & also think cahill very ineffective

not happy
we should have won but we cant finish!
we need to sell heitinga and bily
i want to see a team like this played more.

howard
hibbert jags distin baines
drenthe fellaini rodwell osman
cahill
saha

Believable0 Unbelievable0

That's practically the team that played today

Agree1 Disagree0

Practically the same? interesting
exept with heitinga, neville and coleman who all played awfully

Agree1 Disagree1

Jags was injured, felli was banned, and cahill hasnt scored in 2011, who else could of moyes played to make us play any better?

Did you watch the game? Jags played!

Coleman off Barkley on Coleman very poor today {Ed025's Note - totally agree, absolutely useless........by the way....nice touch by the club with the poppies on the shirt...bit of class..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Colemanhas been terrible but so to saha,im not been negative but we may 4get about europe and concentrate on this relegation dog fight {Ed025's Note - you my friend are a realist...like me..

Agree1 Disagree0

I think Everton deserved something today hey were the better team imo {Ed025's Note - newcastle were not great...but we were playing wit 8 men, the contributions by coleman, heittinger, and osman ....were non-existant

Its gonna be a long hard season, i get myself worked up every week, thinking this might be the week, this might be the time we turn it round, and then you see a performance like that!!!

we are 1 dimensional, no inventivness mere passion is simply not good enough anymore. we've lost out 2 most creative players within 8 months and not replaced them. And as for our defending, the less said about that the better!

Bill Kenwrong is facing the possibility of going down in history as the most hated evertonian ever (p johnson was never a true blue) {Ed025's Note - i agree with your last point mate....but we are still in this!...if louis gets his shooting boots on...we can even win it!...i know were not playing great, but lets keep the faith..

I am really worried for this season we look poor defensively. not much better going forward alarmingly need a winger to work opposite Drenthe and a bloody good striker and a right back and a playmaker.

We need 2 experienced good attacking mids and a proliffic striker. Lose Billy and Barkley, bring in Peanuts and Donavan. Billy £3m and Barkley £15- £20m (Mancs and Arsenal will pay that) with the money left over, Defoe , Berbatov or Clint Dempsey.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

Clint Dempsey is a good shout but would he leave Fulham as they are in Europe at the moment?think we should go for Hugo Rodallega once he is fit again(if we have the money!)

Agree0 Disagree2

Don't sell Barkley, if we do we'll be in the same position in the future, no creative player in midfield.

Agree1 Disagree1

Yeah but £20m cannot be sniffed at. Just think what DM could do with that money now that the bank is satisfied.. {Ed025's Note - you are presuming that the bank is satisfied....im not so sure..

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Nov 2011 10:52:55
Talk of us going for Donovan on loan again, not a bad signing I don't think. Just can't see though why we don't make a move for Defoe! There is talk of him going to QPR for £8 Mil, surely he'd choose us over them and I just think he is the out and out goalscorer we really need? If there is any money there to spend, that's where I'd spend it! Your thoughts Ed?!? {Ed001's Note - Defoe? I really don't rate him, he is very hit and miss, it took him about 25 years to score 100 goals! A top striker should be getting 20 goals a season, he is nowhere near that level and suffers regular injuries. I don't think he is the answer for Everton, not with the training regime at the club, which is tough. Everton need to look at more robust players, ones capable of handling the training.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Defoe has only played 72 league games for spurs since 09.

Give him a chance and he'll score 20+ a season

Agree1 Disagree0

05 Nov 2011 10:14:16
Let's all be realistic for a minute people, apart from the loss to QPR we have only lost against teams who have spent far more money than we could dream of ie Utd, City, Liverpool and Chelsea! I think we would all agree that we would have been happy with a point against any of them!yes we should have beat Villa but we've beat the other teams who we should be beating!last season we struggled against those teams but beat the likes of Chelsea, City and Liverpool if we can get some momentum v Newcastle today and with a run of 'easier' games coming up then we will shoot straight up the table!let's all be a bit more positive and you never know Santa might bring us some money to spend in January!COYB!

Hey Ed, do you think George Green will get a call up to the first team next season or atleast for some of the pre season friendlies next year?
Plus, have you seen him play? {Ed001's Note - I would expect him to get a run out in pre-season friendlies but not much more. I have only seen him play once and I was watching someone else in that game so didn't take much notice sorry.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Who were you watching Ed001?
Also do you know anywhere you can watch him on the internet like Youtube? I really want to see if he's as good as he's made out to be but I live in Ireland so that rules out watching him in matches or trainning {Ed001's Note - I was watching a game live, they were playing a top flight club, I can't remember who it was now, I only remember it because someone was talking about him just after. They were asking what I thought of him because they had heard all the big clubs were looking at him. Do Everton not screen reserve and academy games online? Might explain why I have only ever seen them when they have faced United or Liverpool!}

Ok Ed001, ty
