mcgeady having a woeful game against serbia, still bothers me what roberto seen in him

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yep. I think he is only a squad player at best. I have seen nothing from him so far. Swan says he is a great player, so I will give him the time he suggests. So far I have seen. nothing.

{Ed025's Note - I'm with you on this one degsy..

06 Mar 2014 15:47:22
i don't rate him, I never said he is a great player, why do you insist on putting words in my mouth?

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry Swan. My apologies. it must be the dementia kicking in again. I did read a post from someone rating him and I had thought it was you. Sorry about that.

In work but but been told Hodgeson picked 5 L'pool players to start, ha I remember when they played 10 and were sh*t*, c'm Denmark!
(If there was an Everton player on the pitch I would have a different viewpoint!)

hope agger scores a hattrick along with bendtner!

Agree0 Disagree0

You aren't missing anything mate. It is boring.

Roy Hodgson should be sacked. If the FA really think this is the man to lead us then God help us. England have no chance of anything with this clown in charge.

Hodgson is in the same school of dinosaur managers as Allardyce, Pulis and moyes.

Get rid.

{Ed025's Note - i know its against all i stand for...but i really do agree with mike!.. :)

This is a public service announcement. Operation Goodison has commenced. Listen boys, I am NOT a Moyes lover. I don't want him to do well. I do not want Manchester United to do well. I appreciate what RM is trying to do. I don't know why you all think that I am still a Moyes lover? I am appreciative of what Moyes did for us in the past and I have moved on. I think some of you mis-understand my point of view sometimes.
Arrrrrgh!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Moyes did nothing that nobody else couldn't have done, and that's more than proved now, so sorry I don't appreciate anything moyes did because as far as i'm concerned he held as back and had as all believing 7th was as good as it could ever get while all the time he was hiding behind his own managerial deficiencies.

Agree0 Disagree0

It may have something to do with what's contained within what you post about moyes, Degsyp? It certainly comes across as a love story.

Agree0 Disagree0

I can't say any more than this. If you guys read something else into this, there is nothing I can do.

Agree0 Disagree0

I Think we will all understand your point of view the day we see a negative remark about the previous regime without your name underneath leaping to an emotional and irrational defence like he's your husband.

2 things about the announcement that Liverpool made a £50 million loss in the last financial year.

1) How come no one in the media is banging on about them having to sell their prized assetts you can guarantee if we announce any loss, it'll be all over that we will need to sell half the team.

2 It's already started how this will not affect their involvement in European games, despite breaking FFP. Stand by for a Daily Mail campaign if there is so much of a hint that Liverpool will be barred due to FFP rules.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

And more importantly they also lost 40 million last year. it breaks all the fair play rules. How can the fair play rules be broken so blatantly and they not be punished in any way. Surely there must be a set punishment for blatantly breaking rules that were implemented to stop this sort of bank rollering. That's the main reason we do not have a rich sugar daddy owner. When you consider th 200 million they nicked off the previous owner to keep them going, it seems to me they are a bunch of criminals running that club.

Agree0 Disagree0

This is typical of the hypocrisy of the RS. They've clearly broken the rules and yet what will be the repercussions?
Apparently there is one other PL club in a similar situation (and it's not Chelsea or Man City by the way) who've fallen foul of the rules. So what will happen?
The RS will continue without anything happening because the FA have not got the b***s to make an example of them.
Again one rule for them and to the hell with everyone else. Seems to be wrong in my opinion.

Agree0 Disagree0

Who cares, why not go over to the Liverpool site and talk about it there.

I'm sick of reading about them on here.

The Real Mike.It is diagnosed as being a "bitter blue". Some years ago I went to my GP complaining of stress and anxiety. He asked me some questions about fairness, luck and interests in sport. When I explained that I was an Evertonian, he smiled and suggested that I was suffering from "bitter blueness". This is apparently a severe and fairly common mental illness caused by multiple factors including: cheating, unfairness and bad luck. Bitter blue seems to be carried by a host who in himself is not affected although he is likely to have a nasty red rash that usually covers the majority of the upper body skin. People can suffer for many tears if untreated. Psychiatric treatment can help, but the underlying cause is not yet known. Apparently it can be passed from father to son (and daughters sometimes). It can also become an obsession (mine has) whereby regular visits to Goodison Park for therapy help somewhat. Once diagnosed, the prognosis is not good. Like many addictions, it does take over a persons life and they will spend large sums of money feeding their addiction at the expense of family or friends. although quite often the illness will spread though a family and affect many members as well. Bitter blue is not fatal. In fact some people can cope with the illness for many years and live relatively normal lives. It turns out that my GP is also a bitter blue and he is very sympathetic to me and we often have theraputic meetings where we have a good moan at each other about how bad our luck is compared with "they who should not be named".

Traore out for up to 6-8 weeks.
Bearing in mind he was nowhere near fit on his debut and would need match practice on his return. By the time he is match fit the season is over!
Cannot see the point of this one myself, are we paying his wages?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

05 Mar 2014 13:02:44
Theres no way we will be paying his wages Mush, his owner club have probably said we can keep him for the season and try to get him fit, if we get a couple of games then maybe a bonus, if not then no loss.

Thats what I think anyway

Agree0 Disagree0

Spot on that Degs, they will pay his salary, we administer the appropriate treatment at our expense, we have him for the run in.

Agree0 Disagree0

Could only happen to us. Get shut and give a couple of the kids a go.

Agree0 Disagree0

Insurance will be in place. But WTF did we sign a player who was injured in the first place? Short sighted when we could have gone for a decent forward in Danny Ings who is fit and scoring goals for fun. If someone else signs him in the summer this could come back to bite us big time.

Agree0 Disagree0

06 Mar 2014 08:22:13
Or ings could be similar to taraabt. scoring for fun in the championship, but struggle to score in the prem. Then the whinging brigade would be out in force asking why did we pin all our hopes on a championship striker, we should have looked abroad. In hindsight the alternative option always seems better if the option you chose doesn't quite work out as planned

Agree0 Disagree0

Daveyboy I think he was a complete knee jerk reaction to the sale of Jelavic. Whilst I wasn't his biggest fan, who would you rather have in the he squad now? A fit and ready Jelavic, or a crock who won't even play a game. Rare poor moment of judgement from us.

Agree0 Disagree0

And I keep on saying this one.coz it is so obvious to me. only "get rid" of someone within a football club if you already have a replacement lined up. otherwise you might find yourself short. Jelavic is a classic example. Ok we brought in Traore, but that was a cock up.

We always hear reports of 20, 30 or 40 million to spend in the transfer market. never do.

My gut feel is more around the 10-15m mark in transfer kitty, maybe more with player sales.

I think we will invest heavily in the loan market again in the summer. Transfers after a World Cup are always inflated as players who have a half decent run move from middle of the range to world beaters and the big money clubs pay over the odds on the chance they can replicate form in the league.

I think we will finish 5th as spurs have their usual Mar/April collapse. A late run from United is likely although there is so much ill-feeling over there that it will be difficult to turn around.

All thoughts now though to this weekend! Lukaku to score 2 in a 2-1 victory!

COYB!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

5th would be great with an FA cup as well.

what I think our squad will look like next season without any ins or outs bar barry (i am certain he will sign, fingers crossed)

goalkeepers
howard-first choice
joel-second choice, doesn't fill me with confidence
springthorpe-apparently very flappy and unreliable at under-21 level

overall=decent enough, will do I suppose, with prospects like taudul, stanek and griffiths all coming through as well, still think we need a new second choice as competition and should send joel out on loan

full backs
coleman-love him, first choice
hibbert-new contract needed, great for the kids and will do a job when needed
baines-first choice
oviedo-cant wait for him to get back, compo
garbutt-needs to go on loan for one more season and then asses him

overall-left back is fine, we need a young right back (sam byram etc) as longer term player, browning and stones can play there but are better at centre back

central defenders
jagielka-captain, should he start though? I dunno I do love him but his lack of ability on the ball is sad
distin-big man marks strikers out the game, great
alcaraz-solid defender and footballer, good option
stones-same as alcaraz only younger, next season he could be a starter?
browning-we know martinez loves him, he's said he is ready for the first team, I think next season he will be in a similar situation to stones this season

overall-have enough players plus duffy although I don't think martinez rates him, how will we fit thlse five all in? I dunno, browning MAY have to spend one more season on loan I doubt it though, don't need anyone else here

central midfielders
barry-our new mr reliable, great player
mccarthy-same as barry only younger
gibson-injuries are a concern but great when he plays
osman-can make up the numbers I suppose:)
barkley-number 10, hopefully next season he will be better, he will
lundstram-his time has got to come eventually and he could save us money on another midfielder

overall-if martinez doesn't think lundstram is ready then fair enough we will need another defensive mid, we definitely need an attacking midfielder who can play that final ball, we have george green and connor grant but they are also not ready

wingers
mirallas-certain starter, our best winger
pienaar-impact player now imo, getting on
mcgeady-will run at people, useful asset to have, I will judge him next season
kennedy-another who I think is ready, martinez rates him highly as did moyes and the kilmarnock manager

overall-if kennedy isn't ready then another winger is needed, preferably not callum mcmanaman or some crap like that, doofy loofy going back to barca next season is 75-25 so we need another

strikers
kone-will do a job
mcaleny-22 now, he must be ready
hope-maybe in a year or 2, looks quality

overall-2 needed at the least here with romelu and lacina going back, I like kone but he will not do it by himself, we have other talents such as chris long and the duffus brothers but they are not ready, vellios doesn't want to be a footballer, let him go

quite a few players need to be brought in and if we get europa league we will need at least 7 or 8 coming in, squad, quality wise, looks very good bar up front, depth however, it is lacking hugely, some great players and great talents, let's just get this season out the way first ay

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Missed Naismith off your list Swan.Apart from that its quite a decent summary. Only thing I don't agree with is saying a young player isn't ready for 1st team. At 17, 18 or 19, if your good enough you should get your chance. But that's just my personal opinion.

Agree0 Disagree0

This is a wind up surely Swan? I put a post on last week saying how we will need to replace 7 or 8 players and in my opinion this was too many at once. You ridiculed me for saying it and asked me to name the players. Then you come on this post and say exactly the same. By the way. please name the players in the remaining ones who are going to score all our goals. because that was the other part of my post that you disagreed with. Besides Mirallas, Naismith (who is not mentioned in your post) and Kone. I do not see many goals. I only see max 20 between them. So we will need to buy or loan 3 or 4 players who will contribute with goals. Where will we find such players for the 4 or 5 million that we usually spend on players?

Agree0 Disagree0

Great post Mike and for once you're spot on (one less sherbet tonight?)
Your assessment of the kids looks good and of course there are injured players to come back into contention.
However I would disagree with your opinion of Jags and Osman. Both are good enough to start next season and after the WC Jags should be seen for what he is. A class first choice for his country when fit. Yeah he's struggled with injuries but never let's us down as a captain on the pitch. Ossie is still an impact player and can turn games despite his age. Unless someone comes in to replace him he still remains the only alternative to Ross in the middle of midfield as a number 10.
We've got a massive game to play for this weekend. Let's go for it.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Mar 2014 20:44:59
yes if we get europa league we will need about 7 players in for cover, that's not 7 or 8 changes as in, 7 out 7 in, we are adding to the squad, not replacing anyone bar vellios and gueye who don't score anyway so don't worry, i'm not discussing goals again as it has become a boring topic you keep repeating, also point out, if you listened that, for liverpool, sturridge and suarez are scoring all the goals, why are they not moaning about cissokho and lucas or joe allen? why? because they don't need to, if we get a striker, our problem is solved be it a loan or purchase I don't know as I don't have my crystal ball on me, leave it degsy, you said come back into this topic 10 games in, we have that amount left THIS season and you are still going on and on, after 10 games, when we have a negative goal difference do to mccarthy and barry not scoring enough (martinez should drop em for osman? right?) you can come on here and say 'i told you so', until then, please change the record

Agree0 Disagree0

Swan, nice post fair assessment, see a lot of talent in that squad. I think we can be optimistic it's about whose coming in this summer rather than whose going out. A luxury we havnt enjoyed for some time. A question, could this be Kevin Mirallas's time to be top dog? Let him play up top from game one next season and build the team around him? The lads a magician. Take away all his defensive responsibility. Free him from the converted wingers curse bestowed by David Moyes and restore him to his natural game.

Daveyboy, I agree players like Osman and Pienaar should be part of the club for as long as possible. Whilst I don't think either is top class they can still impact games. And by starting less it keeps them fresh for when we need them. Jags I agree with Swan he's not comfortable on the ball. But for every Pique there's a Puyol. And every club needs a Puyol.

And Degsypulford, the smashed to smithereens rendition of Celine Dion's 'All By Myself'. A quite timely outburst, Quad Erat Demonstrandum.

i don't know about that mate, mirallas against villa looked dodgy there, he is too weak to be a lone striker, his pace and skill is great but he is better beating players (when he feels like it) than pienaar, I would rather we played kone or whoever we get there, mirallas just isn't big or strong enough

Agree0 Disagree0

Last one on this. yes they have S&S. Where are we going to find 2 players who even remotely get close to scoring 20 each? Bony would have been better than Kone imho for many reasons and I said so at the time. These sort of players very rarely come around. Benteke, Lukaku and Bony in recent years. I hope we can get one or two in. I don't think McGeady, Kone, McCarthy or Barry will score more than 10 in total all together. Lukaku will probably go back or elsewhere and Del boy and Traore too. That leaves us really short on goals. I do take your point on S&S scoring most of their goals and maybe you see me as being a bit overdramatic on this. I will shut up on it now and like I said we can discuss next season 10 games in.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mirallas is hardly a magician, he has talent but doesn't do the easy stuff, he can't play up front either, when he's played this year he spent the whole match running offside, I'm guessing he's been spending too much time round jelavic
