Yes he is a good player (from what I have seen) , the slight hitch is that at this time of the year we need players that can literally hit the ground running. RK's comments seem to support this.

I didn't hear what was said at the AGM. Nor do I know what goes on in the background. However, I was hoping we would be further down the line regarding signings in this window. We had the situation in the last transfer window where players were being linked and employees of EFC were making comments of this player and that player were close to signing. then most fell through. So I had assumed we would have picked up the negotiations and moved them on to a conclusion. It begs the question, "are we starting from scratch again? " Perhaps Ed001 can answer that. He seems to be in the know re how these things worked. I am particularly meaning ones where we were apparently so close. eg Gabiadinni?

{Ed001's Note - it is a restart, but mostly because Koeman has had time to assess and Walsh has had time to provide fresh options. Koeman was happy with the defensive options, but now that is an area he is very keen to upgrade, both fullback positions and centre backs he would like to add a player in. So that is a fresh start. And so on.

So some of those being chased in the summer are no longer priority, others were just long drawn out negotiations so the club is looking elsewhere. One was done from the summer (Lookman) and Gabbiadini is still dragging on. Though Walsh has put forward different options instead of him I am told, so he is on the backburner from what I am told, simply due to the difficulty of putting a deal together.}

Really? Further down the line with signings? It's the 5th and we are close to announcing our first signing? Who else has made any significant signings?

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed025's Note - we do need to show some patience cropper but degsy does have a valid point, you would think that most of the negotiations would have been done before the window opened and it would just be a case of dotting the I,s and crossing the T,s, we have lost out in previous windows by trying to do business late and its ended up with us missing out, i know tapping up is not allowed but we all know it goes on and hopefully walsh will have identified his targets and that things are starting to move mate....if only to wipe that smug smile off that lecherous jim white,s face when deadline day comes.. :)

By the sounds of things we have spoken to players agents and they have spoken to the players but it is the negotiating with the clubs that will take the time.

Lets just chill out for a couple of weeks and then see who is or isn't in. No need to panic just yet guys.

Ed001 who is the alternative to mankind gabbadini if you don't mind me asking thanks.

{Ed001's Note - there are a couple of possibilities that I know of, one was Berahino. Another was Scott Hogan of Brentford. I would expect Steve Walsh to unearth someone from abroad though, to be honest, that I have not heard about. He has a totally different set of people he deals with than those I know within the game. Oh I do know Celtic's Dembele would be chased if he does become available, so you are watching and waiting to see on him. Oh and ex-Man Utd striker Javier Hernandez is another that is very possible.}

Hey I am chilled out. It was an honest "technical" question to the Ed's regarding how it works. The comment I made that I would have thought we would be in a more advanced position was based on the fact we were told during the last transfer window that we were signing 3 or 4 other players and yet at the last minute. the negotiations broke down or never got completed. If I was one of the Everton employees involved in those negotiations, and we were still after those players. I would have done my darndest to ensure everything was in place when the transfer window opened. So that as someone else said above. we could cross the t's and dot the i's. Ed001 has explained to me clearly and helpfully how it works and I understand we may be after different targets now. but the Gabiadinni one may yet still come to fruition?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - the problem with him is Napoli. They are extremely difficult to deal with, as Ed002 mentioned in his recent Chelsea Sharkopod.}

Have I just read the words 'Javier hernandez' and 'very possible' in the same sentence. That would be an amazing signing.

I wouldn't mind hernandez or dembele but berahino has to stay at wba otherwise I'm 400 nicker down.

We may be further down the line Degsy but not quite over the line yet. Keep yer fingers and toes crossed I am sure Rk, SW and moshiri have it under control this time.

Thanks for the info Ed001. My own view is that with the FFP rules applied, we will have to sign a mixture of up and coming youth from lower leagues (which some of our fans won't like) and the odd established player. but not for the sort of megabucks that some expect. We need to balance the books at the end of each season and the stadium cost also needs to be considered. Please let us know if you hear about other lower league players being linked.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - the plan is to do what Leicester did, which is exactly what you have just described. Davis from Birmingham could well be a possibility if you can clear out a few in midfield.}

05 Jan 2017 17:55:15
Cheers ed I'd be happy with any of the lukaku just needs someone to share the pressure with not like he should have any. I'd take a punt on berahino not go in to be that expensive with his contract coming to a end. And maybe wait to get dembele to replace lukaku?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Dembele is a difficult one as he wants to play regular first team football, he is likely to stay put for another year at least I would think.}

05 Jan 2017 19:08:32
Cheers for the insight ed looks like it could be a interesting Jan.

{Ed001's Note - welcome Eddy.}

Pulis is saying Berahino isn't fit so may as well wait till the summer and get him cheap.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Jan 2017 15:01:21
The words knee jerk reaction spring to mind. Priorities have changed from the summer and remember you are only allowed a certain amount of players in your squad, so we need to make space before we can bring in the 25 players some fans demand we should have signed by now, 5 days into the window and with 26 days still to go.

Very happy about what was said at the AGM last night, but so sad for Bolasie, I hope he isn't out for the year. Massive blow!
