If Big Vic gets injured before the Derby what options do we have?. Jelavic is lost. Its Velios and Felaini. We so should of got a striker on board!
Markyg

Believable4 Unbelievable2

I guess the fall back option after that is Naismith upfront. don't see like there wold be any other option. is there. with support from screech. Jlaff

Agree0 Disagree0

Mate the derby is in May, Jelavic will come good eventually. I hope.

ToffeeMike

Agree0 Disagree0

Derby isn't until may, plenty of time for jellyfish to get his confidence back

Mirallas could also play up front if needed.

Don't call Jelavic "jellyfish" what an embarrassing name

Sorry Nikica if that is you?

We don't just have Fellaini and Vellios after Vic and Jelavic.
We also have Naismith and Mirallas

Really worried if Jelavic doesn't find form. If Baines or Falaini don't score then that only leaves Big Vic. That won't be enough to beat the red rubbish

I really hope Jelavic finds his form or We are not even going to finish 5th. Surely we could of taken a chance on a striker till the end of the season. Any injuries now and its lights out. Loved the season so far though {Ed025's Note - we have a new striker..his name is..BIG VIC!..and hes doing the business at the moment..

Believable2 Unbelievable2

Bar an injury Ed {Ed025's Note - we have got jelly, and vellios as back up..

Agree0 Disagree0

Ok ed we will see how long big vic last for behonest with yeahself {Ed025's Note - i was a detractor mate...but fair play to the lad, he has been great for us..so i cant knock him..

Agree0 Disagree0

Fingers crossed eh

Agree0 Disagree0

If Jelavic doesn't find form and Vic gets injured how do we beat the red rubbish?
Markyg

Agree0 Disagree0

Victor has had his critics in the past but the lad is flying at the minute, great hold up play, strength, and finding the net. Jib the negativity and let's have a good go til the end of the season. We'll get something out of the manc's. (Wavertree Blue)

Ed's. Do you know what's going on here with the Twente chairman? He has come out and said "One minute it was sorted at £8.6m, next it was a loan they wanted, then they offer £2m. This was before a medical, before he'd even got on the plane, ridiculous, I don't they (Everton) had the funds at all, they need to be investigated by the authorities"

Surely our board didn't stoop to a all time low and "pretend" they had ambition and money, only to try and get away with it? Or is this Twente chairman a bit mad as some have suggested.

If it's true what he is saying this will play into the hands of the fans and the blue union.

Thoughts?

Steve {Ed025's Note - he is noted for being as nutty as squirrel s*it steve, when we realised there was a problem, we did try to negotiate, and that seems fair to me...like if you buy a fridge, and theres a scratch on it, you want a reduction, we did have the money mate, he is just making excuses..

Believable1 Unbelievable2

Sounds to me like you've been brainwashed Ed {Ed025's Note - well one of us has mate!...when aliens land here, or the dead start walking...come back on for another chat..

Agree0 Disagree0

But they must have known the fridge was scratched before he came over ( if he ever came over ) surely it must have been common knowledge that he had had injury problems {Ed025's Note - to them it might have, but we were not aware until we examined him..we have doctors..not mind readers!..

Agree0 Disagree0

Sounds like we've got some pretty sharp scouts

Agree0 Disagree0

Something doesn't add up about the whole thing - moyes said before trf window we might a couple loans and maybe have a million or two - then this big trf appears from nowhere at 8mil ( shortly after we announce a 9mil loss previous year accounts) but what a surprise his knee is knackered - and the whole thing is off and we end up spending 3 m on a future prospect - they have no intention of busting a gut on champs league place - they're just going the slow route - the twente chairmans comments seem to fit with our suspicions - no one gets to own a football club who is completely insane {Ed025's Note - then you my friend....should own a football club..

Agree0 Disagree0

Right, we offered the 8. 6 or whatever, they agreed, he came over for a medical, Everton saw something wrong with his knee, and wanted to change the terms, that is, include more appearance based clauses instead of handing the money over. Twente rejected that proposal and then negotiations were at a standstill

On deadline day, Everton wanted to resurrect the deal, thus they offered Twente a loan fee of around 2mil Euros and after a certain amount of appearances for Everton, the move would be made permanent. Twente again rejected the deal, most likely because he is vital to their title hopes and well if they send him out on loan they couldn't get a replacement in.

Everton, if all goes well, have told him to sit tight and they will look into him again in the summer.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks Ed25 - and there was me thinking you were hopeless! ;)

maybe you should own a website, too!

We didn't sign anyone in the January window (Coz we're skint)
City didn't sign anyone in the window neither (guess their skint too?)

We're pushing for top 4

They are/where pushing for the league.

Yeah I can see the doubters points.

Conspiracy all the way!!

This is sarcasm for the weak of mind among us.

I hate to join the negative band wagon but becoming more worried bout the moyes situation, I think most would agree that if we don't achieve fourth felliani will most probably move on (and for good cash) but the reason we have become so consistanly top half is a steady ship. to many clubs employ gun ho mentality in terms of mangers I would hate to see moyes leave at the end of football year which until a contract is signed may well happen and us searhing for another 1

Another manager leaves Nottingham Forest - what a way to run a football club. For all his self-confessed inability to substantially fund our club himself and his forlorn (to date) pursuit of really big investment, BK has supported DM in overseeing our club's progress during the past decade from what was the danger of relegation through mid-table and top-half security to challenging for the European places. For those fans who blame BK for not handing over to new big-money owners no matter what their attitude and agenda might be as long as they splash the cash, be careful we don't end up with those who seem to lack the patience, knowledge, and wisdom to hold their nerve. IMHO, no-one who invests in a professional football club should expect to make a financial return - even in these days of huge television money and lucrative European prize money. Even the successful clubs with massive income, turnover, and (occasional) profits seem to be based on absolutely enormous debts. Investing in a club surely has to be just like being an ordinary supporter - it's a labour of love albeit tempered by financial prudence and not pouring money down a black hole and not putting the club's very existence at risk. Owning and/or supporting a club cannot be defined in my mind by any rational explanation. That's why it's: once a blue, always a blue!

Mirallas now back in the starting line up for the last two games jelavic been crying out for some service into the box so he doesn't have to run the channels looking for the ball and moyes has decided on both occasions not to have them both on the pitch at the same time as far as I can see jealvic is in a bit of bad form but every team plays there best players when available. mirallas and baines are our main players for assists so when they are playing it makes sense to have our main striker who has proven he knows were the net is on the pitch
lets hope moyes puts this right and also drops hietinga I have never seen a center half perform so bad in a blue shirt and still looked like he didn't give a s**t after it if we want fourth place we need to get back to our fluid best from the start of the season 4411 for me fellani back into cm he is good enough to go box to box osman over to the right and get the big man back up front and let's give him some support and get off his back!!

Believable6 Unbelievable0

Pienaar and Fellaini are actually are highest assists this season with 6 each, but I do get your point regarding Mirallas and Jelavic. They should play in the same team.

Agree0 Disagree0

IMHO, John Stones will be the eventual replacement for Phil Jagielka as (right-sided) centre back. He might be eased into the team at right back, as many young centre backs play at full back in the first team until they are physically mature enough and experienced enough to cope with the power, pace, and guile of the centre forwards they'll have to play against. Just like with young goalkeepers, young centre backs have to gain confidence in the position and deal with the fact that if they make a mistake it would most likely (especially in the EPL or against European teams) cost a goal. I also agree with those who predict he will be Everton captain one day. During the next few years, I'm looking forward to Stones, Ross Barkley, George Green, and hopefully a few others coming into the team alongside others reaching their peak (if we can retain them) like Fellaini, Mirallas, etc. , - maybe even Anichebe and Coleman will be consistently effective : -) Hopefully, Jelavic will rediscover his scoring touch. Perhaps Garbutt and Kennedy will become the new Baines and Pienaar. Perhaps one of the young keepers will progress well enough to be first choice when Howard leaves. Perhaps Francisco Junior will mature into a reliable midfielder. Perhaps Duffy will become the replacement for Distin. I know this is all 'jam tomorrow' - and the mantra always has to be just 'win the next game' rather than thinking too far ahead - but I really am looking forward with high expectations to the next developments at our club. If DM decides to move on - I hope he stays - then I say thank you and good luck. I just hope that whoever is manager for the next few years, they continue to develop the talent we have to its full potential. Once a blue, always a blue!

Good post Sid. As I always say, I try to watch as many reserve games as I can, although the players you have mentioned haven't played this season for the reserves as most of them are on loan I have watched a few of them and the one's that I am convinced will make it are Duffy, Garbutt and Barkley. The rest have potential and hopefully will but them 3 mentioned have star quality.
I actually can't believe Duffy doesn't get much football in the first team, he is on the bench regular now but he is quality trust me. Quick, strong, reads the game well, always organising and talking to players around him and great in the air in both boxes.
Garbutt is a lot like Baines he can be a bit selfish going forward but obviously he's young and will learn and Barkley, none of you need much explanation we can all see his class he just needs a bit more time.

Looking forward to the future.

A tenuous link to everton, but I just wanted to send out good vibes and best wishes to Paul Gascogne who apparently has gone for alcohol abuse treatment. I appreciate the school of thought which is he is a grown man. blah, blah. But for me such a shame for this guy to end up like besty. (1) by common consent, moyes is one of the best paid managers in the prem. (2) the claim is, that he has a very good relationship with the owner b/kenwright. so (3) why the hell has he not put pen to paper on the contract offer that has been on the table, all season? does he want a better deal? is he activly considering other offers, or is he waiting on asurances on the clubs budget for team building in the summer? I think we deserve answers.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

It's a good question and I think you can analyze it till the cows come home. it definitely ain't money. not for him personally. I reckon he could be weighing his options up. Reckon his heart wants to stay but his head is thinking about what he could achieve with a little more collateral, also I think he wants some guarantees. just like the players do. my personal opinion is that he wants to see where we finish, and he also wants to use that as leverage to keep the players on their toes. keep them on edge and giving their all. He knows that if we get a euro place then efc are in a much stronger position to keep players and he is in a much stronger position with the board to take risks and buy more players. that's my take. Jlaff

Agree0 Disagree0

Good question mate. I honestly think he wants to know what ambition have the board got. January wouldn't have helped so hopefully they assure him in the summer

Tbh I think he is using the contract situ to get money out of the board for players i. e show me you will back the team with funds and I will sign (no false promises) kinda thing it the only bargining tool he has got really
