Ed please ignore the last half completed post. I sent in error before completion. here it is re written:

I was thinking about the amount of gloom and despondency going around and wanted to re assure people a bit or give an explanation as I see it:

1. Our pre season was diabolical. someone should be held to account for it's terrible organisation. It put a tremendous strain on our squad for the first 5 or 6 games.
2. Talking of our first 6 games, they included Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Man Utd. Tough start even without the pre season fiasco.
3. Fitting in a Europa League schedule that included a small trip to Russia as well as some other tough games. particularly Wolfsburg away.
4. An injury list that beggars belief. We have lost all the following players at some stage: Coleman, Distin, Stones, Alcaraz, Baines, Besic, Barry, McCarthy, Lukaku, Mirallas, Naismith, Osman and McGeady. In particular, some of these players were showing their best form at the time of injury. That is 13 players!
5. And this is the most important bit: Even with all this disruption and bad luck, we are still only 7 points off 4th. Imagine if we went 6 games being able to pick the best team? That's what Chelsea have been able to do.
Yes I know it all looks bad at the minute, but we have turned things round before today. 1995 rings a bell.

Degs I think our best chance now of champs league is the Europa I think we should prioritise it we won't go down no way but I think 4 th spot maybe gone especially if we lose tomorrow we will finish no less than 10 th in the league the Europa stands our best chance in my opinion the Hull result to me says it all we are just not consistent enough in the league this season.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree prioritise europa league would be happy to win a trophy the 1st in 20 yrs & automatically qualify 4 champs league.
I'd settle 4 that & settle for 6th position in league oh & a decent F.A.Cup run 2

{Ed025's Note - not after much then jonsey?.. :)

Joneses not going to happen there are enter teams than us in the comp mate, and in the league. 12th, 4th round and out in the quarters of euro.

Agree0 Disagree0

If our players are knackered now - not even halfway through the season - how will they cope with all those matches in the Premier League, Europa League, and FA Cup in the second half of the season?
At least we're still in with a chance for now - albeit 'Slim' or 'None' - and it sure looks like Slim's about to leave town.

Just been reading the posts below. So many with people down and despondent. Then I thought.why is it so bad? And to give some answers.
1. Our pre season was a disgrace and someone should be accountable for it's organisation. I hope RM has this in hand so next season we are better.
2. Our first 6 games were against the teams expected to finish in the top 8. A real difficult start if you think about it.
3. Injuries have besieged us this season. No less than: Coleman, Baines, Distin, Stones, Pienaar, Besic,

Pretty much every club has had injuries this season and we're no worse off than some of them. RM, to his credit, never uses Everton's injury list as an excuse. The bigger issue imho is the players' inability to play a full match with energy and intensity and urgency. I don't know if that's tiredness, lack of fitness, or just tactics, but we're losing winning leads and dropping points far too often.

Only chance of a point Saturday is get more defenders on. Howard, Hibbert or Browning, Jags, Distin, Oviedo or Garbutt, Coleman, Mcarthy or Barry, Besic, Baines, Mirallas and Lukaku. Will defend better and hopefully be able to counter better.

Good shout SC and KM down the right LB and BO down the left If Naisy is back the he can sit behind Rom with any of Barry Besic or Jimmy Mac in the centre mid with Jags and Distin or Browning in centre def, oh and let's not forget Tim between posts.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd go with a revolutionary 2-7-1-1 formation and play for a 0-0.

Howard and Joel in goal. (don't know why other teams haven't thought of that)

Coleman-Browning-Hibbert-Jags-Distin-Garbutt-Baines. (A flat back 7).

Barry (Defensive Midfield)

Besic (free role)

We are Everton
#Wedontwinanything
That's what we do

Agree0 Disagree0

I would say the forward line is a bit over indulgent. Can we really afford Besic to have a free role Mike? I would drop him into defensive mid with Barry and put two of the defenders on the line behind the two goalkeepers.

Back from not feeling too well. Wow, moans, groans bitching and belching . Yes a crap performance but give it a rest - PLEASE. It's our club - love it warts and all. More importantly, what the hell is going on with the stadium fiasco? No news again and all I see right now is the reds starting development of Anfield - from Monday! Leaving us trailing again when we've had every opportunity to lead.

Don't say moan then have a moan classic

Objective moan - stadium, subjective bitching moan - this player, that player, the manager

Agree0 Disagree0

Mikedeblue, stop moaning about Torontotoffee man moaning about other people moaning. Swan and me will have to have a moan at you and each other. And where will that get us? All this moaning about moaning about moaning? I will tell you where it will get us, it will turn us into moaners!

Moaner Teaser, Moaner Teaser,
We have named you,
You're the poster with a cheeky p**s-take style,
Is it only 'cause you talk baloney,
That we've slammed you,
For that Moaner Teaser strangeness in your style.

All in jest, lads ;-)

Love it Cowpat! It's at times like this that you can see the difference in supporters. We must all be masochists!

If our team continues dishing up the same poor performances, the same poor results, and the same pathetic post-match excuses as they've been doing for most fixtures this season, then the naming rights for our (supposed) new stadium are done and dusted: just call it "The Stadium of S***e" and also get Dyno-Rod as the sponsors, since we'll need them to handle all the muck we're seeing on the pitch.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

We have put in some good performances this season you know? 1 defeat and everyones moaning as usual.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - its not the defeat alan, its the manner of how we are playing that is irking the guys mate, our play has become predictable and tedious, and unless this is addressed as a matter of urgency our season could implode..

Good summary Ed025. If you go back 10 years we were playing absolute trash. Slowly over that 10 years, we started playing some qhite delightful football. When Moyes left, we were playing pretty good stuff. Then Roberto came in and took us to another level. Last season's football was the best since the 80's. Then all of a sudden we are tip tapping it about without actually getting anywhere. Added to which, fortress Goodison no longer exists. Teams come and press so high up the pitch, we have our defenders under pressure from minute 1. Instead of having a plan B, we continue through the game doing exactly the same thing over and over.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - when bobby came the football was excellent, no more hoofing it up in the sky but controlled football, it was great, now other teams have worked us out by pressing our back line and its making our defence very nervous, so we need a plan B as a matter of urgency degs..

I like Martinez he's doing a good job, he wants the team to play a certain way which needs time. Bobby will bring us silverware in the future guaranteed.
