Are we able to offer Gareth Barry a contract in January as his City contract expires at the end of the season to make sure we don't miss out on him?

{Ed025's Note - we will make him an offer AL, lets just hope he takes it up.

Urging bit of caution for Arsenal away. The derby, big stoke performance, massive Utd win. The players will be feeling it, and now the games come thick and fast. We rely a lot on energy and intensity. If fresh and at it we can beat anyone. But if we turn up without same energy we can get hit. As long as we are prepared for that day and as fans can treat it as a blip and not attach blame, we can continue with constant optimism.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think they might have one eye on midweek. hopefully we can exploite it

Im going with a 3.1 win for us on sunday last year we created some good opportunities at Arsenal but this year I feel were better equipped to take them chances and have a stronger midfield and with the pace were playing at I think the gunners are in for a suprise and if this result comes off which i'm confidant it will and we bring in two quality players in January without selling any of our best I think we can challenge for the league and believe me that is how I honestly feel.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Don't get silly now, yes we just won at Old Trafford, but Arsenal a step up in class to Utd me for one would take the draw.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with second poster. They no mug.got to carling cup final with kids.hard game but not unbeatable. We doing good though so let's see what happens

I agree. Arsenal (A) is the toughest fixture in this season's Premiership. Anything we can get out of this match would be welcome.

I'll just be glad to get out of there alive ;-)

Great win for us last night.Still can't believe it. Away fans did us proud and nearly lifted the roof from old trafford.

Anyway. Not been to a game myself for a while so am a bit behind on the chants. Apart from the belting Oviedo number, what was the other main chant at the end?

Also Deulofeu looks an absolute gem (bit greedy at times tho)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Allez allez allez ohhhh, allez allez allez ohhhh, Everton F.C, Roberto's blue armyyy.

Also after the United game we were singing: Jingle bells jingle bells jingle all the way, oh what fun it is to see the Everton win away, hey!

Another fantastic win in what has already been the most enjoyable season for a long long time. Knew Martinez was top man and knew McCarthy was class, however had my doubts on Barry but knew he was what we need from the moment he made that clearance against Chelsea after Howards error in that game. I also loved Moyes but have have lost every last ounce of respect for him since he left for Man U. Cannot remember being so confident going into any game. Man U will never ever have the spirit of Everton, you can't buy it Moyes as you must have now realised. The only player who shows the spirit and passion of Everton is Rooney and where did he get that from? Remember what Bill said made him believe in Martinez? It was when Martinez said he will get us top 4. Even if we don't get top 4, I for one couldn't have asked for anything more from Martinez and the team. Our creative players now have a manager who appreciates flair and creativity and knows how to exploit other teams with attacking ideas. Mix that with the spirit and hardnwork ethic we have and who knows where we could finish. So so happy to be a part of this. COYB London blue

My God some of the hate delivered at DM from these 'so called' United supporters.
One I just read stated he hoped DM would die! (Nice)
Whichever city you live in there are thousands of United 'fans'. Yer right, like Liverpool, like Chelsea most of them would need an AA map to find their way to their own stadiums.
Glory Hunters.
This morning I met a neighbour a Utd fan in his 80s who travels to Old Trafford for every match and has done for over 65 years. He praised EFC and just hoped we could do the same to Arsenal!
I respect that man but not the Man U Numpties who throw a 'Hissy Fit' when they lose.
Supporting a winning team is easy.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I am down in Devon these days and over recent years have seen an increase in Chelsea shirts on kids.It used to be all Manchester United or Arsenal. However, I recently saw Man City shirts on kids for the first time. There are certain areas around the country where Premier teams are lacking. Devon for instance. This is where the kids support whoever is the winning team at that time. Problem is, times change and that team won't be the winning team by the time they grow up! By then they are so used to supporting a winning team, they expect it all the time.
Degsypulford

Agree0 Disagree0

Mushy how does it make you a glory hunter if you support a team when your not from that city or country.Do you know how many Irish fans that travel to Goodison to support Everton and have been doing for decades does that make them glory hunters when Everton were at the top of the English game look maybe I took it up wrong but if you could explain glory hunter to me I would appreciate it.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lets be honest guys, if they were glory hunters they would have run out of patience following us years ago. Onwards and upwards now though so expect we will attract some in the future.
RickTee

Agree0 Disagree0

A Glory Hunter Stef is someone who says he supports a team but isn't totally gutted when they lose and needs a map to get to the ground. (Should I draw you a picture?0

Agree0 Disagree0

To be fair to Mushy I don't think he was having a go at Evertonians who don't live on Merseyside. He was referring to the glory hunters clubs like Man U and Chelsea seem to attract. Let 's be honest. These clowns support a success story not a football club. You could never accuse an Evertonian of latching on to a successful club because it's been so long since we 've won anything (although I can feel the wind of change). We all follow Everton because it is the club of our hearts and may it always be that way.
Ways stay this way.

Agree0 Disagree0

Degsypulford unfortunately with the rigged champs league these 4 teams will still be at the top by the time they grow up and they'll still be there when they die - when will people realise that the league is now set in stone at the top?

Though I can't see Lukaku ever playing for Chelsea again I still can't see him being at Everton next season. if that's how it turns out, I for one would love to see us do a swap deal involving Baines and Hernandez. I don't think its that unrealistic either as he can't be happy with the amount of game time he's getting. Oviedo has shown he is ready and Baines will be 30 next year. Surely this would be good business?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hernandez is good only as an impact player imo .Never does much when he gets the nod from the start.

For me u don't need a load of superstars to win. You need to be a team and that means u become a band of brothers prepared to go to war for each other.
That is now evident.
To be Lukaku just looks so at home with us and everyone just knows their roles.
Our players have belief in Roberto and his footballing sense.
Long may it continue.
If any player is looking at joining us, don't come for the money, come to play for the best club!

Anyone at the game notice Lukakus positioning when we didn't have the ball? I could see Roberto quite clearly from my seat bellowing at him to stay right and to not get involved trying to win it back. Evra was constantly getting forward leaving a massive space for Lukaku to occupy, where he went on to severely expose Vidic and Smalling for strength and pace when we got it out to him. Thought it was class tactical management from Roberto.

Agree0 Disagree0

Nice post mate.

Agree0 Disagree0

Fair play to you for coming back to eat your humble pie Chris haha. I think most Evertonians dislike towards David Moyes is because of his actions since joining Man Utd. I remember he got a standing ovation at our last home game. i'm sure you and most Utd fans can see why we have turned against him. To be honest Manchester United and Moyes made themselves look foolish with their initial bid for Fellaini & Baines.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Dec 2013 18:20:06
Good on ya Chris. i'm sure once youve rid yourself of Mr Negative and appointed a genuine manager like Klopp you can return with the smugness you had last time. We got win on the day but it was a close game, respect for coming back.

Agree0 Disagree0

Dislike our fans attitude. Go check your own. Wishing death on your own manager, a human being! Sick, twisted and disgusting. Your fans have a sense of entitlement, that you should always win no matter the opposition, that's arrogance. We, on the other hand, merely find Moyes' comments towards our club disrespectful, distasteful and insincere, it's not bitterness. But you've shown you have some balls to come back, fair play.

Agree0 Disagree0

Excuse me? When have I said anything like that? I don't need to check my attitude at all mate, mine is fine.
I came, I gave u stick (which I lot started by the way) we got beat and like I said I shall returns to reap wot I said.
I dnt think u are better than us and I dnt think u will ever be as big as us. This is meerly my opinion. U have caught ua at the right time, had u caught us a month ago i'm sure we would of steam rolled u but at the moment we couldn't fight our way our a wet paper bag!
Us losing to Everton believe it or not is not the end of my world, but for u, is beating us the highlight of yours? If so how very sad u are.
I also take exception to this glory hunting tag we have we have many great fans all across the world like u, just because we win we are glory hunters?

Agree0 Disagree0

Not you, your fans, d'uh.
We ARE better than you, we may not be as big, but our values will always be superior. Of course you will always be able to spend your way out of trouble, or change manager. The former we can't do but I'd rather a team who play for the shirt over a team of highly paid mercenaries any day. Your fans' arrogance knows no bounds as evidenced on your page.

Agree0 Disagree0

'I dnt think u are better than us and I dnt think u will ever be as big as us. i'm sure we would of steam rolled u'

Your arrogance is so distasteful. I read your statements and genuinley pity you as a man and also as a supporter of Man Utd. Real Utd supporters must cringe to read your posts. Its just your opinion but as usual that opinion carries a high level of arrogance. You can't steam role anyone in this league. We are a better team on the pitch right now. Your team is totally average and you have a 400m debt bill. Your best player wants out and your second best player is an evertonian. The irony. Your latest signing is a 27m Evertonian and your entire team is run by Evertonians. Not only that, in Leighton Baines and Ross Barkley, two of your main transfer targets are. oh yeah that's it, Evertonians. Apparently its your club with the fixation

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm sorry Maximiliano if a touch of realism is not what your feeling atm but its only the truth, Real united fans? hmm. lol good one that nearly hurt me that :)

can u please stop being so god damn nasty to me or like kenwright when we signed Rooney I may have to cry and phone my mummy.

There is no arrogance from me my friend I fully accept where we are in terms of the league and we DESERVE to be there! Likewise we have no divine right to win anything at all, everything in this league has to be earned through commitment and hard work once you have conquered that the skill and ability come into play and that normally is what separates the best from the rest, and right now there is no way we can claim to be the first!
I suggest you get your head outta ya backside and take what I say as what it is BANTER!
A few have grasped this and since then we can have a adult discussion, unfortunately you seem to be as sharp as a door knob!

Your stupidity is not my fault but I'm afraid its somthing you may have to live with for a while!

MEEOW GRRR :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh its banter? I wondered what it was you were trying to do. Side splitting stuff. I appreciate that growing up with a Sir Alex Ferguson sized silver spoon in your mouth might have given you a false sense of self importance as a supporter of Man U. Similar to the thousands of 'supporters' seen streaming out Old Trafford with 5 mins to go at just 1-0 down. But the realism, as i'm sure the real fans I speak of understand, is that you have the worst possible person in charge of your club. i'm not quite sure you appreciate what is going to happen to your club under David Moyes. When I speak of arrogance, it refers to your genuine belief that you can just go out and buy yourself a Marco Reus. The front 4 of Dortmund like to roam around in a free form. Moyes doesn't do free form. He does rigidity. He will coach every ounce of quality out of a decent player. i'm sure Reus will be salivating at the prospect of keeping to one section of the pitch chasing the opposition full back all game. If he still has any energy left after 30 mins he might even be able to enter the opposition third. But I forget, he'd have the class acts that are Tom Cleverley and Marouane Fellaini protecting his interests wouldn't he? World class players don't want to play with crap. They also don't want to play under crap. At Utd they would have the pleasure of both.

So, hit that Man U page post haste. Youve some serious planning to do. All those big new signings to write about.

Agree0 Disagree0

Lol Max. Did I hit a nerve?

I grew up before the SIR Alex era.

Some may be arrogant and expect us to win every game, myself however I am a football fan and understand that is near impossiable to do. I also don't jump on the bandwagon after winning one big game like a few others, but equally I dnt panic and cry when its not all rosey, we will get it right that i'm sure of until then I will smile and follow my team even if sometomes it is from behind my seat or my sofa :)

Got to be honest I was never a Barry fan, and couldn't understand how he ever got in the England team. But I watch him now, how wrong was I. Him and McCarthy just gel so well, and this short passing game seems to suit them perfectly. No fuss or frills just doing a solid job with loads of quality. Thanks Gareth long may it continue.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

My sentiments too Twoold. I thought he was ok as a player but nothing special. In our team with McCarthy he knits us together. The amount of opposition attacks he breaks down is staggering. McCarthy too. Then its off up the other end with the ball or a simple sideways pass to bring others into the game. The fit is perfect.

not posted for a little bit and still buzzing after last nights match, but thought now is as good as any time to come on and well eat a big slice of humble pie :D really didn't know what to expect with martinez and doubted his ability to win us games but my oh my he's wonderful, the team look class, we are improving every game, lukaku looks like someone who really wants to play for us showing a lot of passion no matter who scores, same with mirallas, gaz baz, oviedo etc barry has been a revelation, its like we have finally got a new lee carsley to just do all the little un noticed things we were missing, oviedo dare I say it looks a more complete player than leighton though its only two games but if it means keeping lukaku i'm all for getting rid of leighton now after seeing oviedo step up, but that forward line of lukaku barkley mirallas deulofeu seems to scare the **** out of people its great. proper made up we picked martinez, just need to keep backing him and remember we are still in transition so it won't always be this rosey this season, was also great to see gollum looking very blue now he's a red too the little gremlin

now i'm off to the united page to give them that congratulations on winning they wanted me to come back and give them when they smack us .

I really do not get them mate, 'we are playing the everton way not the UNITED way (remember the caps as they are so far up their own arses)' and 'we are everton in everything but name', well no you are playing like a david moyes side not an everton side, manager picks style of play not the clubs history, they are utterly delusional, did they say 'arrr we are playing the aberdeen way not the UNITED way' when ferguson took over? Do bayern say 'arrrr we are playing the barcelona way not the bayern munich way'? No they didnt, and they wonder why they are the most hated team in the world and why their home support and fans in general are one of the worst in the world? Hate united and everything they stand for, thinking they are better than everyone else and I mean their fans personality not the team they support, youve all heard my gym story about the manc (from preston) saying he should not pay the same amount as my mate callum (a tranmere fan), they heavily rely on reputation as their only means of arguing when in reality they speak no sense and are about as sharp as a door knob, lol

Loving every minute of this season. we are finally playing a brand of football us blues can be proud of. the difference with last year is unbelievable. the entire team is filled with fantastic players with an amazing attitude. Paying tribute to a few:

Tim Howard: This guy has been immense ever since he decided to grow a beard. I've not seen him in this form. At the moment it just doesn't look like he's gunna be beaten. He deserves great credit for taking his game to the next level. Genuine decent human being too. Does a lot for charity and the community. Proud to call him an Evertonian.

Sylvain Distin: A collossus. He is a great man. He is everything Everton football club stands for. When we lose this guy to retirement itl be a huge loss. Defensively right now he's on top of his game with Jags. But at his age to move around the way he does, with the agility and power he still has. Youd think he was 26 not 36. Dedicated, talented, humble, loyal. The image of him parading Oviedo on his shoulders last night will stay with me for a long time.

Gareth Barry: Well well well, I admit I never rated him. Thought he was slow, lethargic, played simple passes. Yeah right. He is outstanding, there's nothing more to say about him, he has simply been outstanding.

James McCarthy: People who raised eyebrows over his transfer fee can lower them. This guy is class. the energy he brings to our game is invaluable. i'd go so far to say without him we wouldn't be where we are. He compliments Barry perfectly. The thought of him at the heart of our midfield for the forseeable future.

Bryan Oviedo: The amount of times I've listened to joke fans of other clubs who claim that WHEN baines leaves we will be in trouble. Every time I've responded with the name Oviedo. He played a huge part in Costa Rica getting to the world cup and is considered a god over there. It was always gunna take time for him to get his chance but from what I've seen, he is actually a better footballer than Baines. Two footed, quick, skillful with an end product. He would grace most premier league teams as a winger based on his attacking ability.

David Moyes (Ahem): Got no time for him now, as a man he's failed on so many levels. But can't forget this is primarily his team of players. He made a lot of unbelievable signings as Everton manager. Being dull, negative and boring does have its upside. it makes you very hard to beat. it gives you a defensive base on which you can attack. My observation is that our team still has all the good david moyes characteristics. they're motivated, determined, organised and intelligent. But Martinez has changed the way we attack. His appointment has proved to me that Moyes is just a glorified defensive coach. He should be a no 3 or 4 in the backroom staff. But to not respect the role he has had in getting us where we are now would be wrong. I don't like him, but I don't hate him. I actually felt sorry for him last night. He looks a beaten man. That reception from our fans will hurt him. He knows he can't ever come back now. Something I think in the back of his mind he has been clinging onto. Sorry David, there will be none of that. What goes around.

The Manager: I don't want to sound OTT but is this guy not first and foremost the ultimate example of how a human being should act? not to mention being an unbelievable manager. We now attack how the manager likes to attack. Our transitional play is up there with the best in EUROPE right now. Watching game last night commentator Davey Proven said at start of second half: 'this everton side have come to old trafford set up like a TOP european team in the champions league'. 'technically they look superior to Utd on the ball and there's a purpose to their play which will cause Utd big problems'.

Sure there will be tougher times ahead but I rub my eyes in disbelief at the speed we attack teams now. We are a nightmare to play against. Sit back and we will pass it around all day ripping teams open with precision. Come at us and we will nick the ball and then counter at lightening pace.

VERY SATISFIED BLUE

Just got wood reading that lol.

So far I am massively impressed with the class that the man oozes!. He has been like a breath of fresh air this season, I would have been over the moon with a top 10 finish this season, but Martinez has got me dreaming and believing top 4 is a real possibility.

Been trawling thorough some of the comments from Mancs over the last few hours, am genuinely surprised at the huge number who are saying Martinez was the obvious choice for the UTD job!

Would also like to congratulate the RS on winning the Prem last night. what they only beat Norwich at Home, easily pleased that lot!

My goodness, I really cannot believe things this morning. We have still only lost one league game and we are 14 in. We have played Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United and Man City.not to mention Spurs and one or two other possible banana skins. We have the Arse away next and right now they look better than any other team in my view. If we can get a result there (even a draw would be positive. then beat them at home later on) then I really think we have made major strides. Barry and McCarthy were awesome last night.although not a single player let us down in any way. I know we will have a poor run at some stage (as all teams do). I am hoping the two nil nils against Spurs and Crystal Palace were our poor run. My expectations are rising all the time. I don't want to tempt fate by making predictions, but I do feel very optomistic at the way our squad is developing.

The RS had a high score last night and as usual there going on as though their world beaters, they beat Norwich at home - not exactly a great feat and I think they've forgot they got rolled over by Hull only a few days ago, to any reds that view this site - get a grip!

We turned UTD over in there own back yard!

My thoughts exactly! I had a load of kopites spouting the same $h1t3 to me, on how amazing and great they were! for them having so many "World Class" players in there squad I would expect no different from them, especially at home

We had great win last night and all u can do is talk bout liverpool, who cares, we know how the song goes, we dnt care what the redsxxxe say

Well done Mike Oxlong

I read your posts on the Man (dis) United banter page. I am just laughing so much right now at how much they rely on their reputation.
Nice tussle you had with that Redman joker. You came out well on top. Just like the lads did last night.

Anyway, listening to the radio this morning it's all about crisis at United. Normally this would annoy me because our performance was yet again overlooked, but I'm quite enjoying listening to Brazil struggling with his usual man u / Moyes love in.

Well done to the lads last night. Although we might hear Moyes taking credit for signing Oviedo despite not having the bottle to play him.

Question I have for you all is. Of the three games, Stoke, man u and arsenal. Would you have been happy with six points from the three fixtures?

Toffee ace

{Ed025's Note - i would be far happier with 9 ace..

I would be happy with the 6 points and I still would be content. But I have the belief, Martinez has the belief, the players have the belief and the rest of the fans have the belief to get maximim points. And that alone is magical. COYB!

Great win last night and for once luck was on our side a times but all credit to the lads who played with belief throughout. The look on Moyes' face was classic at the end and just reward for the demeaning, patronising comments he made prior to the match. "He (Roberto) is doing a very good job. He has very good players there. I always told them they could play without a manager because they are very well organised." And then the biggest insult of all: "I only found out about the UTD job four weeks before the end of the season"'
Lying bar steward- even Sir Alex purple nose admitted starting the poaching process the previous Christmas.
Sorry to have taken up so much space on here but the arrogance of the man beggars belief.
Roll on Saturday and let's play AFC with similar resolve. I bet the UTD fans wish they'd looked towards Martinez instead of Moyes!

If Manchester United still want Baines who else thinks that maybe if he were to be sold we could keep Oviedo at left back and use the money to help buy lukaku and/or deulofeu

Tbh if Oviedo continues his good form then yes defiantly and even if we got 15-18 mill I still think we could just about scrape 30 mill at a push wether that would be enough I don't know. Also you would think Many of the other top teams would be interested and could easily price us out by paying something stupid like 40 mill. But it mainly comes down on where we Finish if we do manage to qualify for the champions league then its up to bill and co if they could find 20-30 mill a season we would be sorted. If not then I feel we will slowly slip back to competing for top 10. Even the promoted teams could outmuscle us in the transfer market . And say 5-10 years time barring a takeover we will slip further and further away, so I feel the next couple of years will be crucial in determining are future.
