After reading lots of comments on here (especially the Ed’s) it certainly looks like Silva’s time is up and his days are numbered. Question is: when does he go? I don’t see Dunc as caretaker manager tomorrow doing anything for us - he’s been there since 2014 and I haven’t seen much impact on the attack. It’s arguable he’s part of the problem. Sitting in the relegation zone doesn’t make us an attractive prospect and neither is the high turnover of managers.

Do we try and get someone in over this busy period? Wait until the New Year? Keep Silva until end of season and see if we can muster enough points to get to 40?

Then there’s the question - Who do we go for? An upcoming manager from Championship? Overseas manager with no premiership experience? Current Premiership manager (can’t think of anyone decent who suites the club and willing to come) ? Is sticking with Silva less of a risk?

The talk of Rafa, Moyes and Hughes can’t be the solution. I’d rather see someone like Peter Reid be caretaker manager till the end of the season and appoint in Summer. I think we are really looking at barrel scraping if we look to appoint now.

Whatever happens, it feels like we are in a mess and it’s of our own doing: unbalanced squad; not replacing players leaving; injuries possibly down to poor training techniques as Ed mentioned. Lots of worrying things on and off the pitch.

{Ed0666's Note - I’ve said this so many times It’s getting nauseating. You need Rafa Benitez. He’s knows the city, his family is settled in Liverpool. He is a winner, he has incredible credentials, he is not a yes man, he can handle a challenge and above all he puts the onus on not losing a game first and anything else is a bonus. You need an infrastructure you need a blueprint which Rafa represents. Benitez is a short, medium and long term option and maybe he’s not a sexy one, maybe he doesn’t have swag and maybe you’re mob think he’s a fat Spanish waiter but he’s the best guy out there for you’re current predicament. You guys are in the bottom 3 of the the league in all seriousness which world class manager is gonna run into you’re arms?

04 Dec 2019 23:25:18
Benitez won't touch Everton.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed0666's Note - Why not? He’s not gonna get the top jobs in World football any more. I’d think he’d relish the challenge to get Everton back on their perch.

04 Dec 2019 23:30:48
Totally agree with you Ed.

05 Dec 2019 01:02:26
Been saying for weeks we should try and get Benitez, glad you are singing from the same hymn sheet Ed.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed0666's Note - hes the clear and obvious candidate mate. Who cares if he has a red history? The guys a consummate professional and will sell his own kids to be the best he can be in any role he commits to. What he did at Newcastle was nothing short of a miracle, imagine if he had some money to spend which he would do at Everton and a blueprint (pardon the pun)

05 Dec 2019 06:31:15
Pretty sure he won't come to Everton. Yes he would be an ideal appointment but can't see it happening!

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Dec 2019 09:40:32
Big Sam all is forgiven.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Dec 2019 06:22:38
I’m not sure Ed0666. The ‘small club’ comments might still irk some of the fans/ people at the club. Plus would he work under a DoF? He come across as someone who likes to be in control of all aspects of the club and is another fan of zonal marking which hasn’t been a great success at the club under Silva.

I don’t know who the answer to the problem is. I think that’s the problem for most Evertonians at the moment. There is not one stand out candidate and all the ‘options’ seem unconvincing.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed0666's Note - Mate it’s a fallacy Rafa uses just zonal marking he has a flexible approach depending on the opposition.

04 Dec 2019 22:51:39
As bad a performance as I have seen in many years. Midfield were non existent and the 3 centre backs looked like they never played football before to be beaten by a straight ball on numerous occasions. Would take any manager who could organise us defensively and get us playing as a team. With fixtures coming up we could be in serious trouble by Christmas.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

05 Dec 2019 07:12:03
We're in serious trouble already Dunc. A rudderless ship heading into oblivion.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Dec 2019 22:43:12
I’ve said this a few times tonight, and I’ll say it again - it is still mathematically possible for us to win the league!

Chins up lads, he will be gone soon and we will recover. When I was in the army, we had a morose, gallows sense of humour that got us through bad, bad times - we sang “always look on the bright side of life” in our darkest moments.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed0666's Note - I think I’d rather be in the trenches at the moment if I were an Everton fan

04 Dec 2019 23:11:04
Good to see some optimism on here. I’d settle for 41 points to get us over the safety line than winning the league after recent performances.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Dec 2019 23:17:01
This lot have no idea 666, to be honest neither do you.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed0666's Note - I concur mate. I really don’t have an idea but I would have got away with it if it weren’t for you pesky kids.

04 Dec 2019 23:31:57
Ed, I’ve been in the trenches mate and believe you me, being an Everton supporter is a doddle in comparison 😂.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed0666's Note - touché Pierre

04 Dec 2019 22:40:20
If I wake up tomorrow and Silva is still manager my account is being deleted.

Seriously there has been no fun supporting Everton despite all the money since Moshri took over.

It's a total shambles.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

04 Dec 2019 22:47:35
And support who? I’ve been an evertonian for nearly 50 years, good times and bad times. I’ll support us in the Vanarama National League (Northern Division) if I have to. Get a grip.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed0666's Note -There’s teams in the Vanarama league looking forward to playing you Pierre.

04 Dec 2019 22:57:09
Your right. no defence, there is no organisation whatsoever. No leader on the team. Passing is woeful. Whoever gets the job will have a tough job on their hands. You have to question what does Brands does? And as for the board, they are utterly clueless. Sorry Bill you need to go also! Sorry to be so negative . it's no fun being an Evertonian!

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Dec 2019 22:24:58
Wow just wow. no other words
RIP EFC. we've had a good innings and all that history looks like it's about to be undone by mercenary non football people. oh the irony!

Believable2 Unbelievable0

04 Dec 2019 22:38:00
Behave. I’ve had worse days as an evertonian, many many days worse than this. He’ll go soon and we will be ok.

It’s still mathematically possible to win the league!

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Dec 2019 22:54:50
In that case and if silva does go shall we get Klopp as our next manager? everyone has a price!
Sorry just trying to find something to smile about.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Dec 2019 22:24:57
I am just so sad, they were more aggressive quicker to the second ball, no one is organising us on the pitch everyone seems to be all over the place and how three centre backs can get beaten like that puzzles me, yes you can see why they are top but even so that was poor. I am just so sad this is not my Everton.

Please someone make this stop how have we become so bad from the end of last season what has changed something is very wrong with the team and coaching side whether within or outside influences
Just so sad.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

04 Dec 2019 22:39:43
I think your organising on the pitch is a very good point. Sigurdsson is a luxury player and not captain material he ghosts through games and doesn’t appear to galvanise the team. We need an out and out leader like we had in jagielka unfortunately there appears no player like that in the squad to step up and take control on the pitch.

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Dec 2019 22:23:47
That was awful beaten in every dept.

04 Dec 2019 22:11:19

04 Dec 2019 22:21:03
Depends on whether we can find a suitable replacement for Silva.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Dec 2019 21:35:41
Is he still here tomorrow Everton?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

04 Dec 2019 21:48:50
Be amazed if he is. brings on Sneiderlan when you have Walcot and Tosun on the bench. What a dick!

04 Dec 2019 21:57:47
The 'marcoistas' will still say he needs time, I have had it with silva and people who want keep him and risk relegation.

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Dec 2019 22:07:35
I think even a top lawyer would find it hard to argue a defence for him. Not all his fault but as manager you carry the can. Never see a director or owner sacked!

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Dec 2019 22:07:48
Should have the decency to resign but won't. I am starting to worry about where we will be playing next season.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Dec 2019 22:11:15
Ive never done this, and I've supported the blues thru thick n thin like all on here. but decided i can't take the emotional turmoil nor embarrassment (if i'm completely honest) anymore, so i will not be using my season ticket until this clown is replaced with a suitable replacement. All these pundits keep asking what do everton fans want. My answer is i want a team that understands how privaledged they are, that play with pride, that compete for honours of some sort. I want a manager and a board capable of delivering that team. that's it! The club are failing miserably.

Agree2 Disagree0

04 Dec 2019 22:12:34
Why would he rip up his contract and not receive any pay off.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Dec 2019 22:13:10
To bring on Schneiderlin when we’re 4-2 down is baffling. I think it’s time for him to go as he’s clueless.
Defence an absolute shambles, we need some one who can sort out the basics, not sure the players we have are cut out for a relegation fight, worrying times indeed.

Agree1 Disagree0

04 Dec 2019 22:21:49
I said in one of my posts that this is the worst situation the club has been in 74 years of supporting the club.

Even in the Johnston era the players played to the best of their ability even though they were crap.

Presently we have a squad that is playing well below their potential, a board that is fractured and has no idea how to get us out of this mess, a manager who is well above his head, an owner who has lousy advisers and a Director of Football who doesn't seem to be using his expertise.

Silva has to go and now, and the management needs restructuring.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Dec 2019 22:37:50
Brining schnids on at any point, no matter the score, is baffling Dan.

04 Dec 2019 21:19:32
So difficult to watch, something has to change in the morning it can’t carry on.
Bring Kean on up with DCL and just go for an all out fight. I’d be in tiers other than the hope that Silva will be gone after this.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

04 Dec 2019 21:18:01
This club is a disgrace feel for us fans tha manager is clueless bernard should off started sidibe should off stayed on an took keane off. The boards fault he should not of been in a job for this game defending a high line against one of the fastest Teams in the prem on the attack buy silva.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

04 Dec 2019 21:04:57
I hope to God that the PR department like Parliamentarians, have people that peruse these boards.

This situation is down to you Mr Kenwright for your refusal (despite lack of football knowledge) to let go, and you Mr Moshri for taking advice off someone that clearly has motivation other than football knowledge. Lastly you Mr Silva, for your arrogant belief, despite the irrefutable proof of your CV that you are a Premiership Manager.

Between you, you have ensured that this great Club is fighting relegation at Christmas time.

Never since my first knowledge late 50's, have I been so worried. The fault is yours Mr Kenwright and yours Mr Moshri for not applying your business accumen.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

04 Dec 2019 20:55:13
Centre backs all over the place do they not talk and know who they are picking up? Absolute basics!

Believable1 Unbelievable0

04 Dec 2019 20:58:06
Totally agree, and then he takes of Sidibe. Baffling.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Dec 2019 21:17:48
What do we do in training regarding defence, we make it so easy for other teams, we look like amateurs at the back, the basics of defending have eluded yet another of our managers.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Dec 2019 21:24:34
Because he's always out of position and passing was terrible.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Dec 2019 20:37:50
I'd of liked to see a four four 2 with moise Keane up front with dcl.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

04 Dec 2019 20:59:16
I think a lot would tbh. This formation is a disaster. The Liverpool goals were good but all should have been avoided (I'm posting this at HT) defence has been an absolute shambles. I don't think sidibe knows he's supposed to be playing RB.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Dec 2019 22:19:13
To be fair to Sidibe he was playing Rwb not RB.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Dec 2019 22:40:36
He's was stood near the D when Liverpool put it over the top for the first goal. And out of position for others and most of the game. I get he was rwb but he can't forget his defensive duties. Even when we play 4 at the back he's always out of position.

Agree0 Disagree0

04 Dec 2019 20:05:24
As it stands before we've kicked off we find ourselves in the bottom 3 as Saints are ahead against Norwich, scary times now.
