It looks to me as if RM has the same problem that Moyes had. Favourites, it seems that certain players are guaranteed their place no matter what, and that the younger players will have a couple of appearances on the bench with maybe a cameo role, then no matter what (Browning in the Derby) they're back in the reserves. Also why is it that in Europe we use pace to hit on the break, but back in England we don't move any faster than a trot?

RM only has to do one thing to turn our fortunes around - read the blogs on this site, from Evertonians who know their football, and put them into operation NOW!!

went the hull game and watched the spurs match he can not play osman barkley barkley eto, o in the same team he can only play one in the team. the reason we have bin so poor in the last 2 games as thier has been no one on the right which means we are very compact in the middle. tim has to go he costs to many goals this year he has not been the same since the belguim game the amercians have made him thing he is in the top 5 keepers in the world which is far from the truth

Fuly agree

It is very stressful, in my opinion folowing the Blues.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks and agree with your post above

Agree0 Disagree0

Tim has made mistakes, a lot really, but how much pressure has our goal been under for large parts of Every game.

The whole season has been the same. Sideways and backwards then sideways and backwards again. Anyone dares to try and play and they get taken off (Besic last night).

Hull were very poor last night and we couldn't even take them because in the end we were no better. It wasn't as if we deserved a win because we didn't.
RM having a go at Hull's tactics?? they played it exactly how they should have done and got a point.

Honeymoon is well and truly over with RM and he should realise it and have a word with someone who has a plan B.

I don't want to win the Europa and get relegated in the same season. And believe me that was relegation fodder that was dished up last night.

Still fuming

Agree0 Disagree0

We won't get relegated and is it time to give joel a fair chance team for tomorrow howard or joel coleman distan jags baines besic barry macarthy mirallas lukaku mcgeady

have 3 holding mids and hit on the counter with mirallas mcgeady and rom pace

Agree0 Disagree0

To me it's a no brainer. I would have Naismith behind lukaku every time when fit. Mirallas has to play. either flank. Barry and McCarthy also go straight in. Then you fit the rest of the midfield in as necessary. Choose from Besic, Osman, McGeady and any others available. Kids included.

R/M is a real nice guy, and I wish him well in his next job, but, he cannot be allowed to stay at the helm of our club. Slowly, he is turning us into wigan mark 2, and, we all know how that story ends. He talks the talk, but when it comes to results, he cannot walk the walk. I am no lover of moyes, particularly after the disrespectful way he conducted himself before and after leaving, however rm lived on the tight defence moyes left, last season, this season, all the wigan type faults are starting to come though. Just hope he is gracious enough to recognise he is out of his depth and stand down rather than being sacked, the longer he stays, the further the trouble we are likely to sink into.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I won't go as far as to say sack him, but yes he does need to address the problems in our play and fast, I feel he needs to give the players a nice big kicken and stop the nicely nicely approach.

Agree0 Disagree0

JCW100: I've overreacted to the poor performances and results this season as much as anyone - and admittedly was pleased when RM took the job and pleased with our football under him last season - but your call for RM to go is way over the top in my humble opinion. Who would you want (realistic candidates only please!) to come and take over at this stage of the season - or at the end of the season?

I agree with what people are saying, for once :), martinez is too positive, last night he said our first half performance was enough to win the match (despite us being crap for 35 minutes in the first half but I digress). He does know football matches have 2 halfs, just once i'd like him to come out and say that we wernt good enough and some people are not pulling their weight. But no its the same every game, we lacked energy (change the team every now and again then!) or we were unlucky, no, we were bloody awful and have been most season, I don't want him to come out and assault individual players like di canio did. But he needs to show he has a different side in the dressing room but we have no evidence to consider this, he's too nice and I think gets pushed around by the players into picking the team, he needs to show some passion and determination.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Swan: I agree - let's hope there's a tougher, take-no-crap, staight-talking side to RM the we don't see/hear in media interviews - someone who tells it how it really is (and not how it's spun for the fans) on the training ground, in the changing room, in private with the players and coaches and club hierarchy.

arrggghhhh! still fuming over the past 2 results, I can't believe how slow we are in our build up, we have no power, no pace, no width and no idea what to do in front of goal its so frustrating, lukaku and mirallas seem to be getting back to some sort of good form but its only mirallas who seems to link up well with lukaku, bobby has got to take most of the blame for poor results this season, playing barkley and osman out wide just doesn't work, then last night he took off the only forward player with pace (mirallas) and replaced him with pienaar when it should have been osman for mcgeady leaving 2 natural wide players on the pitch, also besic was outstading last night only to be dragged off. just simply not good enough even though we do miss naismith and mcarthy we can't rely on 2 players to save the day, I would love bobby to show some aggression on the line, we were drawing 1 1 with hull at home and playing the ball from howard to jaga to howard to distin ect. ffs bobby should have been screaming (like we all were in the ground last nigh( get the f**King ball forward. must do a lot better. rant over (for now) coyb!

am not suprised at the way we have been playing in the league, I said at the start of the season, we would struggle - we simply do not have the squad and quality of players to battle on both fronts, I also said if we pick up injuries we would stuggle and we are,, too many of us have the blue tainted glasses on, we all love everton and want the best and we all have opinions so heres mine

howard
pienaar
osman
barry
distin
hibbert

all bar - baz gaz are the old and early moyes era way the premiership is played now there too old and not good enough, tbf hibberts done ok but he's done

were along way off top 4/6 that we need to be being realistic. we needed more players in the summer and didn't get them

id like to see rm blood the youth more - most teams do it if there good enough we have. joel - garbutt -ledson-browning-galloway-lundstrum-kennedy-mcaleny -long there good enough there old enough along with couple of loanns in january maybe few permanents, am sure rm knows whwt he's doing and perhaps he knows the old moyes era is coming to an end and the big overhaul will be next summer

definately the distan and barry shouts are for me too slow and why our build up play slows down in our own half!!st team centre mids now has to be when fit McCarthy and Besic. Centre backs when fit are Jags and Stones, with a replacement for Jags in the January or summer window a priority along with at least 1 classy winger. Let lukaku and barkley play the league games up top and etoo and naismith the cup games, keeping all 4 of those fresh is pivitol to ensure we have movement up front.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - what i would like to see craig...is bobby come out and say that that performance was not good enough for everton football club, and that from now on these players are playing for their futures, so its shape up or ship out!, i admire his rosy outlook on things but sometimes it just does,nt cut the mustard..

Ed025: I'm not sure I'd want to go as far as publicly and threateningly saying certain individuals are playing for their futures - which is obvious anyway for the aging players coming to the end of their contracts - but I can certainly do without:
the unwarranted positivity;
the blaming of tiredness;
the empty statements about how we deserved this or didn't deserve that;
calling inconsistent and under-achieving players "phenomenal" just because they might do one good thing every few matches;
and the Wenger-esque insistence on scoring the perfect outfield goal and no plan B, C, D, etc. At least, as someone else posted, Wenger has won trophies and consistently qualified for the Champions League.
I wanted RM as boss and I was pleased with his first season and I still want him to succeed, but now he has to get our team back on track and PDQ before our season (at least in the Premier League) slumps into midtable mediocrity. The warning signs are there - and some fans booing the team off at the end of the Hull match is an emerging indication of what we're unhappy about.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i dont want individuals singled out either sid, well not in public, but for me he has to show a bit of backbone and not be the easy touch he seems to be, as its easy for some prima-donnas to take advantage..

Ed025: are RM-backers like us blithely giving him the dreaded "vote of confidence" that directors do when things aren't always going right? Will it be like late-1983 when the board stuck by HK - or will it be, like at so many clubs, merely a stay of execution?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - bobby will be staying sid...it would cost too much to remove the mural of him on the ground.. :)

Posted last night on what RM might say in his post match press conference.
I was hoping for something along these lines:

'I will keep this brief, have just spoken to all the players present on the pitch tonight and have informed all of them that that performance falls far short of both the club and the fans expectations of Everton Football Club.
The players will come in for a further debrief tomorrow morning and we hope to see a vast improvement.'

But what did we get?

Basically he slagged off Hull and accused them of coming for a point bemoaning the fact that they had one shot on goal and scored!
If that wasn't bad enough he actually praised our shower for digging in and getting a point at home against a side who are heading down!
I described this guy as a double glazing salesman last night, apologies to Everest etc.
They sell glass all this guy sells is gloss.

Can someone please explain to me why we have "fitness" coaches at our club if RM uses tiredness as a reason why our players don't perform and seem unable to compete for an entire match. The stats show that we are winners in the first half of matches, but fail badly in the second half.
I had imagined that the "fitness" coaches were there to improve the players' energy levels (stamina), speed and strength so that they could not only play an entire match, but also cope with the extra UEFA Europa League matches. That also means imho having effective rest & recovery routines that deal with the disruption of midweek travelling and having three matches in a week sometimes.
Finally, why is RM is selecting clearly unfit players ahead of others in our squad? It must show that he doesn't rate these other players and he's utterly dependent on the few players he trusts to play the way he wants.

Have to agree Sid. We knew at the start of the season that due to the poor pre season debacle the players weren't fit, but ffs we are now nearly half way through the season, and we still have too many players who can't last more than 50 minute. WHY?

Really scared of the thought that Villa could be ahead of us come 7 . 30 pm on Saturday Jesus a couple of weeks ago I thought they were goners it just goes to show how quickly it can all change. But looking at the hull player who spoke before the game last night he said it is a very hard place to come and get something from the game here I hope we can, he then said we have a very experienced manager and he has a plan for this game he watched Everton, that is exactly what teams are doing but are we doing it? I don't think so we were lucky against West ham beaten and rightly so by Spurs dropped points against Hull at home face a severe hiding by City on Saturday as they are coming in real good form now 7 goals in there last two away games and one of them was Southampton, I think it's going to be a long December blues time to batten down the hatches and hold tight.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

04 Dec 2014 09:48:31
As sid said below, I can see martinez panic and rush naismith and mccarthy back too soon, which will probably lead to more injuries, 6-1 I reckon on saturday, aguero 5 and lampard 1, with clichy scoring an own goal to give us the lead

Agree0 Disagree0

RM's task is simple: get to the magical 40 points asap. All the talk of winning trophies or Champions League qualification is "pie in the sky" given our performances and especially our results - such as regularly throwing alway winning leads - this season. Even our very good UEFA Europa League results have been down to us riding our luck big time imho.

Agree0 Disagree0

What annoys me is the manner in which the players and manager talk to the press, all week, about their aspirations, then collectively fail to deliver, week in, week out. It's not good enough

Agree0 Disagree0

Bloo: I agree. Like most fans, I crave any and all information about our club, but I can do without all the hollow big-talking from players & staff before matches and likewise I can also do without their post-match claptrap rationalising why we performed poorly and suffered a bad result.
Do your talking on the pitch!
Simples.

Fortress Goodison? Don't make me laugh.
There used to be a joke about the sign at the exit to the players' tunnel that read "Welcome to Goodison Park" - supposedly it had a note that read "And welcome to the three points". Well it might not be that bad, but opposing teams come here and too often get let off the hook by our poor second half showings. Why can they up their game and appear to want it more than us?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i think due to the hype we are seen as a big scalp sid...oh how i wish that were true..

04 Dec 2014 17:30:14
I feel the reason our 1st half performances are so much better than 2nd half is due to the team talk at half time. The players commonly look fired up in the 1st half and play good football, then they get in the dressing room and RM praises the backsides out of them, but then goes on to say let's keep the ball. This is apparently not what happens in the opposing dressing room where the opposition gets a right good rolicking by their manager and are fired up for the 2nd half. Christ if RM's press conferences and after match interviews are anything to go by, he would never shout at the players even if we are 6-0 down at half time!

Agree0 Disagree0

I wonder what his halftime teamtalk will be at ManCity if we come in having, as many now fear, already been ripped to shreds and conceded a hatful. Those 15 or so minutes back in the changing room could be the defining moment, not only in the match, but also in this season and, indeed, his tenure at Everton to date.
I implore RM to prove that he's "the right one, the bright one" and get us back on track.
Once a blue, always a blue - but why is it so difficult?

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Dec 2014 23:54:44
Looking at our next few fixtures - and those of the clubs currently below us - I don't think it's too dramatic to suggest that we are at risk of slipping into the relegation zone come the new year! All I can do is:
(1) support the players and give them every vocal encouragement when they're on the pitch and wearing the shirt, but there comes a point for even the most loyal fan when it's like flogging a dead horse; and
(2) trust that RM will prove that he's 'the right one, the bright on', but I can do with less of the 'we deserved this, we deserved that' interviews and more of him getting some energy, intensity, urgency, belief, and (dare I say it) courage back into the players.
Harsh words - but as a longstanding Everton fan I'm feeling exceedingly down about taking just a point from the latest two fixtures when we were in positions to take all six.
Ho hum - a thrashing at ManCity, a pointless (probably literally given the likely team selection) match against Krasnodar, QPR doing a number on us (like Hull did) and then the familiar tale of Christmas and New Year failures.
Bloody hell - I'm feeling even worse than I thought :-(

Believable0 Unbelievable0

On your first point no ones supporting the team at the min, for a while the atmosphere at goodison is dead, like not there, it's down to the way we're playing though it's hard to get exited about a training esq match, we should of been pushing them fowardv on the last six mins of extra time but hull wernt a team that were hanging on for a point, in past games we would have them hemmed in but that seems to have gone

Agree0 Disagree0

The style of football does not help with the atmosphere. It is great if we are giving someone a thrashing, but in finely balanced games, we sit deep and eventually win possession. When we have eventually won possession the crowd gets all excited and wants a quick break. But no, we then decide for it to go to Howard, who then rolls it out to Distin, who gives it to Baines. Then Baines gives it back to Distin. All the excitement then drains away from the supporters and the following slow build up becomes tense. We should be mixing it up a bit more than we do and get players like Besic running at players in the middle. not in the middle of our defence.

Agree0 Disagree0

Ring the changes? What's there to change? Different players, same tactics! To paraphrase The Who: "meet the new team, same as the old team" as far as RM is concerned. Come on, RM - prove that you're "the right one, the bright one" and get us back on the right track - please!

Oh how I long for the days of degsy choking his chicken while speaking of Osman! I always try to echo Martinez and look at the positives in every game, but I struggle to see anything that we can take from this game. I agree with everyone below. This is not what I expect from Everton anymore. I am always one of the last people to boo the team, but it's more than deserved today. I realise we have had bad luck with injuries and such, but this had 'home banker' written all over it. Ring in the changes Bobby lad! :(

Last time I posted on here I was slated for being negative but after tonight I think justified we can kiss any thoughts of top four goodbye, we are not good enough and very transparant and predictable to the point where managers are just watching us on motd! After the spurs game I was understandably very hacked off but I thought having a home game against hull so soon after could quite easily make me forget the spurs defeat. But we are everton and that would be too easy. Now I am left thinking how do we avoid a total embarrassment against city. This is not a knee jerk reaction but I would rather the kids played with 100% passion and we lose rather than watch this drab slow predictable dross. Come January I would ship out pienaar osman mccrappy robles howard atsu .bring in delph, get Lukaka to tap up Benteke, find someone exciting that can offer us anything but the crap currently served, bolasie would be great. oh and I would get barkley some studs that actually helped him to stay on his feet. i'm just so fed up with it all at the moment. but we are everton and this is when we go to city and win 2-1!

I would like to apologise on behalf of my football club to all those supporters who went to the game tonight. I do this because I think you deserve it and it's highly unlikely you will get one from the team, or its management. Unlike you people I don't get to many games any more (live in France), so I'm very much an armchair supporter these days. and I like many others believed we had turned the corner last season, and that we were developing a serious top four side. Am I gullible or just use to disappointment I'm not really sure. So i'm sorry you all had to watch that and hope and prey that we have just played our worst game, though I doubt that. All the best WB.

Okay.

I usually don't post on the back end of games, but for this certain one, I'll make an exception.

Never have I seen our whole back 5 out of sorts in a game before.

Howard- After such a great world cup, I was worried we may not be able to keep hold of him. But after that performance. why didn't we sell him while the iron was hot. (Is that the saying. I dunno) anyways.

Baines- Seems a shadow of himself from 2 seasons ago. Even last season I wondered what was up, but then I was too busy praising Coleman to actually question it.

Coleman- What are you doing mate? Where's your confidence gone?? Where's your swagger gone?

Jags- basically, you know how Alcaraz was a back up CB last season? Yeah, Jags should take his place as that, and we should get someone else in. I'm not saying he's past it, or bad. He just needs to let go of the reigns now.

Distin- basically, you know how Giggs retired last season? Distin shoulda followed suit.

I think this Jan window is make or break for us. No mattrr the outcome ofcourse, and how frustrated I get, I will always back the team, but the team doesn't do any favours for itself.

Shoping List:
CB
CAM who can give Barkley a right go and kick his head in to gear.
A quick 1 on 1 course on "Being a Goalie for Dummies" which they shpuld enroll Captain Fantastic (AKA Joel) in. I reckon he's better than Howard ever was. (No joke. okay a little bit).
