Do people really believe what they read and/ or write. Find it shocking sometimes and proves that football fans are extremely fickle. People quoting Lukaku as 'terrible' 'garbage' and '1 good game in 5-10 games'. Seriously? I know I'm not being naive buy has Lukaku himself come. out at saying he wants out or criticised the club? After last season (including 3 bad months - which you can correctly be bitter about) if he came out and said he wanted to sign a new 5 year deal or such like, these same fans would be labelling him as a hero. But since his father and agent have supposedly said such remarks (which I believe have only been quoted in the press, have there been videos of these comments? ) would the comments of 'not fit to wear the shirt', convince him that Goodison could be his home for the forseeable. If he does manage to stay, or at least play a few more competitive games for us, let's get behind him because for however long, his success is/ could be successful for us. Sorry. Rant over.

I think it is ED002 who says football fans in general are stupid and naive. This is an example that proves him correct. When I see comments about lack of effort etc then see the sweat running down Lukaku's face, it makes me laugh. His efforts may well be misplaced or not in the right areas, but no one can say he puts no effort in. He runs around on his own up front with long range clearances booted up to him and he is expected to control them perfectly every time. I do understand his control and touch could be improved somewhat, but to say he puts no effort in?

Oh and while we are on the subject of Rom how about his 61 goals in 121 games basically playing up front alone for most of them. He is our best striker for ages and some of us are still not happy. Okay he has a languid style and doesn't have a great 1st touch but he certainly knows where the back of the net is. I thought that's what makes a striker great? Not is work rate closing down passing etc etc.

Right. Lukaku does not want to be at the club and Kingo he has said this, many, many times. He wants to play Champions league or go back to Chelsea and his agent and father have both spouted their mouth off wanting him to leave as well.

I don't like the lad and I don't like the way he's been going about things. I don't like the fact HE said that he will listen to what the new owner has to say before making a decision. That's not a committed footballer.

As for performance. Do I think he has improved over the past three years - No. Can he still improve - of course he can. Anybody can improve as long as you put the effort and work in. Do I think he didn't put effort in - of course he didn't but he wasn't the only one in the team. If they all put in the effort every game then we would have finished in the top places in the league. And Degsy just because he's got a bit of sweat on his face doesn't mean he's put the effort in. He might have been dying for the toilet!

That TEAM last year let us all down, including the manager.

However, if the lad stays and I've said this before I will back him 100% and sing my lungs out but don't make out he's a saint. He's got a lot to prove to himself, the manager, chairman and most of all the ones who cheer him every Saturday.

I won't slag him off and he will get my support but while playing for Belgium he was interviewed by a Belgium tv network (last friendly near the end of our season) and he said live on air he wants to play champions league football next season he said if it's Everton fine if not I will for someone else this all happened around the same time his dad did the interview.

so as I said I will support him but I will never love him like I did Ferguson Rideout Sharpe or Gray he looks at our club as being below his Standard and 2-3 years ago we would of cashed in on him the difference now is we have moshiri who seems ruthless and unless he wants to sell you then your staying and I'm made up.

Agree it's a tricky situation. Like I say, without being cocky, I genuinely haven't heard him say it, but if he has, it's a little disrespectful. But everyone in every walk of life is ambitious. My feeling is new owner, manger, backroom = new era. IF it doesn't match his ambitions after a year, and HE'S RESPECTFUL, then he can leave. We kind of need him more than he needs us as I can't see us able to attract a 20 plus goalscorer at the moment. Whilst we've got him, let's do our best to keep him and get behind him.

I have a feeling Koeman might go back to Southampton for goalkeeper Fraser Forster, yes I know he has just signed a new deal, but that means nothing these days. I might be wrong but it's just a hunch.

Getting bored now of all these links spread by Journo's and Agents. Latest today about Draxler and Benteke. One to make Arsenal stump up more cash for him the other because RS want to get at least their money back, because they want a new Striker and can't get rid of him. Also today Jorge Mendes has reared his head about Carvalho n Silve saying Everton will have a fight on their hands here as he's got more clubs interested in them, just bollocks. Not even known if were interested in them. Were going back to up the bid for Williams today! are we?! or are Swansea just wanting more dosh so have started this, just on the quote from Koeman last night that we are getting more signings in soon. Listen ignore this whole Circus lads n just wait to see if we as a Club announce anything, not the Journo's or the Agents, its silly Season afterall.

agree there Howie, everyone knows the English clubs have the money so they are holding out for top money, we are no different with stones and Lukaku so Swansea are doing likewise. so many players now overvalued, yet it gets worse.

Anyone else annoyed at Jake Humphrys talking crap last night he must of watched a different game granted due to work I only seen the second half but I thought we played ok we created the better chances and looked good defensively yet he says UTD will have a great season and we will have a long hard slog. I did enjoy Hargreaves and Ferdinand shooting him down though but does anybody else feel Sky and BT have a dislike of us?

Last nights game was certainly " a game of 2 halves " In the first half I hate saying this but Manchester United did look like a top 3 side. Both teams played their hearts out and Utd tried everything to score. Our defense was actually impressive for something that can be classed as "work in progress". In fact I would go as far as saying we looked better at the back than Utd did.

I think he means by " a long hard slog " is that we are not yet a complete team, this showed a few times last night, but saying that I feel our defense has come on leaps and bounds since the Belgium manager left, although we still need a lot of work. If we have no more signings, and if our play does not improve then yes it will be a hard slog, but I think we will get other players in and we will get our act together.

Have to agree defensively we looked solid, however, going forward it was not good. RK needs to find the right blend in midfield and upfront. On last nights performance I hope he starts Saturdays match with Davies and Gibson in CM with Kev and Delboy supporting Rom. If we go back to a Back 4 then he can add an extra MF not sure Ross should be picked, maybe give one of the other lads a chance. We definitely need another striker though as Kone IOM is just not good enough anymore.

Agree2 Disagree4

04 Aug 2016 15:02:51
The two main things I noticed with Ross last night was

1) Match fitness, he was no where near as fit as he should be if he wants to give us 100%

2) His hunger, To me it just seemed to be lacking at times, now this may have something to do with his fitness or it may be the left overs from RM. Whatever the reason he desperately needs to get it back again, he is too young a player and still has great potential he just needs to address his desire. I am sure RK will work it out and get him back to the same Ross we all loved and talked positively about.

Granted I missed the first half. I wasn't impressed with Stones but thought Holgate looked to have real potential regarding Jake Humphrys when Hargreaves disagreed with him he looked shocked as he thought they would agree I personally think we will have a good season and can't wait to ram it down his throat at Goodison.

Daily Mail claiming we're 'infuriated' with Chelsea's attempts to unsettle Lukaku and are ready to refuse to sell him to them.

I think this would be a disaster. Unsettling a player is unsporting and Chelsea should be punished, but it will have hardly taken a lot of effort to convince him he wants to move. He's had his eyes on the door for 6 months. The figures we're being quoted (£65-70m) are absolutely absurd for a player who only puts in a good shift once every 5 games and who is shocking in the others. He clearly doesn't want to be here so keeping hold of him, so he can cost us points, or sit on the bench, and missing out on £70m just to keep some pride would be shambolic, even for Everton. Get the money and get a replacement soon or we're somehow set for an even worse season than last.

Believable4 Unbelievable6

04 Aug 2016 13:15:08
I think it is just press talk at the moment. By all accounts both clubs have yet to even have an official first chat regarding Lukaku let alone discuss figures.

If anything was happening then I am sure his dad or his agent would of made a press release. Remember it was not that long since Lukaku apparently said he would give another year at Goodison, and since then we hear nothing from Dad and agent.

Any one else think that last night Stones played like someone who did not want to be in the team? The mistakes he made were ridiculous for someone of his skill set. I don't think he realises that by playing that way he stands a chance of turning Man City away from him. SHAME on you John Stones for being the worst player on the pitch.

You guys need to get a grip, what about the mistakes Geri or McCarthy made does that mean they want to leave, I can't believe you are so desperate to get rid of him.
It is no coincidence that the team that is most likely to win the league this season want to sign him.
By the way McCarthy was the worst player on the pitch!

04 Aug 2016 19:40:53
Can we not start to look for the positives?

You've got to be fair to Stones. He's not been public like Lukaku but kept things to himself. It's nothing but rumour in the papers. He will get better and for a defender he's a baby. He won't be peaking until he is 28/ 29.

If he goes he goes if not I for one will back him all the way.

If they pull on the jersey and walk out on that pitch especially in how important this early stage is in our development with a new manager, they should be getting full backing from us supporters.

Stop with the unnecessary vindictive attitude towards our own and get behind them.

I keep saying it but Stones is not a CB or rather not a CB at this stage of his career and I think RK will see that. Stones is more like the old Libero or sweeper and as such would be far better utilised in front of the back four or three.

04 Aug 2016 20:56:14
BlueJohnUns for a £50 million rated player John Stones was awful, that is not being vindictive that is just saying it how I saw it. Our defense played so much better than last season but that does not change the fact that John Stones played no where near as good as he can do.

I have no objection to a player giving it 100% and not playing well but when a player only gives it 25% then he is robbing someone else a place in the team.

They call it a team for one simple reason, all the members of said team give 100% to achieve the best result they are capable of. Start having members of that team not giving it 100% then it turns into a rabble. Stones gets paid a lot of money so the least he can do is play as well as he is capable of.

It is because I have such a high belief in Stones that it annoys me when he plays that bad and I really hope RK tears a strip off him and not do a RM and pretend all is well. He is capable of better and owes it to the fans to show us just how good he is.

On the other hand I could say " Wow last night we were so good. The team was awesome. We don't need new signings we have the right team now to conquer the world" See that's positive.

Sidutton it is not about wanting him to leave, I for one would love him to stay. But don't expect me to pretend he played well when a blind man could see he just was not all that interested.

Grumpy you are setting your expectations too high. He's still a kid and as for his price, it's not him that has set it.

A price tag doesn't mean how good you are. It sound ridiculous hearing people say it. He's not a 50mil defender, he's not a 60mil striker. Stop thinking about it like you're playing Fifa or footy manager!

Stones does havd potential to be a great defender but he needs developing. He's been with a defensive manager for the first time in three years and he would develop under him but not inside a month.

If you can't see that then I suggest sticking to fifa.

Agree0 Disagree0

05 Aug 2016 09:58:04
BlueJohnUns Never played Fifa or footy manager in my life just googled them to find out they are games.

Now to make my point a little simpler to understand in all of the above where I have made the error of putting in a price please swap that for England National Team player. It won't be difficult as price has only been mentioned ONCE.

Again I will say he is capable of much better but did not produce anywhere near what he has done in the past.
