I've read some posts expressing concern that if Deulofeu does really well with us, then Barcelona will want him under the buy-back clause they insisted upon. Well, in my humble opinion, if he does well, then that should mean that Everton will probably be doing well also and that's surely good.
It's just as RM has said about the interest shown by other clubs in our players: it's a compliment to the players and to the way we are developing them. Besides - as has been shown with Stones and others - we no longer have to transfer our players for purely financial reasons. Plus, when our players leave, it's because we get top-dollar for them (Fellaini) or they're not in the manager's plans (Anichebe) or they've not renewed their contracts (Long).
So, I hope that Deulofeu - and all of our players - are brilliant and we have a successful season - and we carry on rebuffing the interest (aka bullying) by the wealthier clubs :-)

After hearing the things the so called South American Football expert said about Mori, why am I getting Glen Keely in my head. RM says he's ready for the Prem n may make his debut V Chelsea!!

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - I was very surprised at these two - Mori because of the money. Leando Rodriguez really doesn't seem to be EPL fodder at this time - not sure how he will ever get a game.}

04 Sep 2015 03:45:48
Two players I don't get signing, swan had a go at me for saying martinez was lucky to have the squad he did, I say that because his signings baffle me, we have never been a team to sign players for the sake of it but we prob have a bigger squad than last year with the europa aswell

04 Sep 2015 07:52:55
One was signed for potential and the other for 3rd choice Centre Back/Left Back option due to injuries. Ever heard of cover or squad players? Not pointless.

04 Sep 2015 10:03:46
Time will tell on these two

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Then Everton must have a great deal of money to waste if they are going to spend that much on a third choice player.}

3rd try at sending! Gorcouff apparently. 1yr contract with a view to but for 2 more yrs depending on fitness and games played, however the hell you work a contract like that out??!!

Only one I can think of might be worth a punt is Ron Vlaar. I know people are going to say he's got a bad injury and so on. Beggars can't be choosers eh. Don't think he'd do much harm. Worth talking to his agent at least imo. Be well covered in central defence then.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Sep 2015 19:40:42
If Vlaar gets fit enough to play, would he be satisfied being fourth (or lower) choice behind Jagielka, Stones, Mori (and youngsters like Browning, Galloway, Pennington)?
As for Gourcoff, his injury record - and his "alleged" attitude issues - would surely be ringing massive alarm bells.

03 Sep 2015 21:12:50
On Vlaar, bar the injury concerns and wages, I don't like the idea of him halting the development of Browning and Galloway.

Decided to start a new thread re: NTBT's McGeady post below.

Swan I just wanted to say that I was not in any way suggesting that you or sa90 abuse any of our players. In fact I find that you are generally quite fair in your assessment and criticism (Howard aside lol). But just think that we should get off McGeady's back a little, perhaps then he can start relaxing more and playing with a smile on his face, as at the moment he looks extremely unhappy while playing.

Not saying we have to chant his name just stop giving him stick. If we do, we may actually start seeing the best of him. And that's good for Everton! I think that's what all of us want at the end of the day. You said you don't want him to play again and that's fair enough. But I'd prefer to see him playing well as during a long season we need every player to offer something to the team.

Having said that with Lennon returning I don't expect he will get many chances. If he does though, I hope he can start playing well and enjoy his football more!!

I agree aflm78 I wasn't saying Swan and sa90 were giving him abuse either. I was talking about the wider range of supporters. I have no problems with anyone's posts on this website. Everyone are entitled to their opinion

03 Sep 2015 15:04:44
Alfm your saying we might see the best of him?! The problem is I think we have seen the best of him it's not as if he's going threw a bad patch or anything he's just terrible he has been all his career

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Sep 2015 15:17:53
Thing is, I've never seen him have a good game for us. I wouldn't heckle the guy but I'm just not convinced he is good enough for us.

Where as some players have had excellent performances but also been poor showing inconsistency, Mcgeady has never shown me an excellent performance. So I fully understand why he gets very little support on this site. Sometimes you just have to concede that some players just aren't good enough. He wouldn't be the first either.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Sep 2015 16:03:26
All of your comments are fair guys. And like I said I'm not saying he has been good because he hasn't.

In fact he probably would not make the bench for me at the moment, however should we end up with lots of injuries like last year then we may need to use him. If that happens it would be better to have a relaxed and happy player who can hopefully make some kind of impact for us.

Anyway can't wait for the Chelsea game. Let's hope we can get a good performance from both the team and the crowd and start feeling a little more positive!

03 Sep 2015 16:14:28
Just to clarify I would love McGeady to start performing on the park and would be happy to see him included in the match day squad if other options were not available. I just think he has lost what little form he had and can't see him getting it back in the foreseeable future. As always any player that wears the shirt gets my full support on the pitch.

After a very good display against Barnsley and now for his national team should we be worried that Barca may come back for GD, another goal albeit a peno and another assist seems to be getting better and better each game.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

03 Sep 2015 13:39:45
Really? People are getting worried already? He only joined a couple of months ago!. Messi, Suarez and Neymar are not exactly pensioners, Messi and Suarez alone probably have over 5 years at the top. Calm down.

Not panicking but if he carries on with those stats they are going to wonder why they ever got rid.

03 Sep 2015 14:09:26
I wouldn't be lancerboy. We all knew they were the terms so we'll just have to live with it. I'm actually afraid of the opposite. I think he should be getting more game time at Everton and am half afraid he'll go stale if he doesn't get more game time. Can't wait to see him in full flow. Seemed to me he has improved on passing. Passed across the goal against Barnsley when I thought he should of shot himself.

03 Sep 2015 14:48:28
Yeh agree he should start seems like a player that wants to play every game as long as he stops flapping his arms about when nobody passes to him. He's magic.

Barcelona put buy back clauses on all of their sales but rarely activate them.

Just sit back and enjoy what he does.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It is far from all of them.}

03 Sep 2015 16:28:13
Don't forget he has to want to go. Barca can't just come knocking and that's it he's off.

He came to us because he wants to play most weeks. even if Barca do come back can they guarantee he will play, I don't think so.

As for playing time at the moment, I'm not sure if he is fully fit. Every game he has played or come on he has felt his hamstring and I wonder if there is a little niggle still there. Maybe it's best he comes in slowly. I'd hate to see him out for 2 or 3 months.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Sep 2015 17:37:39
I was thinking the same BlueJohnUns but he's after playing 90mins for Spain U21's so he surely can't be that bad, injury wise. God forbid, I would hate for an injury to keep him out for a couple of months.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Sep 2015 18:57:48
the buy back clause, what does this mean. if they want him, we have to sell him, because I thought it was first refusal clause if we wanted to sell him.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It would typically give the club an option to buy back the player at a fixed price at a certain point in time - if the player agrees.

So if they sold Everton Messi for £20M with a buy back clause for £30M falling due in two seasons time, Everton would not be able to block the move if Barcelona and the player wanted it.

First refusal is what it says. If Everton are due to sell Messi in two years time and Barcelona have first refusal, if Everton accept Bristol Rovers bid of £30M, the Barcelona have the option (first refusal) of taking him at the same price - if the player agrees.}

I've laughed my head off today at his pics this time he really has a beaming smile, made me chuckle.

I'm glad he is back real pace.

Would play him on the right delboy on the left cutting inside mirallas behind ROM and Barkley behind them at home and really attack teams.

Away I would use Lennon's pace to counter force opposition to have a high line play thru behind them Lennon feed ROM running onto the ball rather than holding it up as we know holding it is definitely his worst skill
