I've come on here on my birthday hoping for good news but I agree with most Martin O'Neill would be a disaster worst than Roberto. I put him in the same bracket as the fraud Harry Redknapp, who has destroyed virtually every club he has been at! I have been banging on that we should go for someone like Eddie Howe but I've got to be honest when I saw Joachim Low linked I kinda got excited. let's say Germany win the Euros what else has he got to motivate himself? Surely an exciting club project would appeal? I think he would be an excellent (although very ambitious choice) . What do you guys think?

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - low would suit me just fine duaney,,,and happy birthday mate..

04 May 2016 01:22:46
Alot wanted pellagrini but it think he is somewhat like Martinez. he can't organise a defence. I watched city be pulled apart by Southampton, and believe koeman would be a great choice. organised defence and a good attack. and managers have a habit of going back to there old club for players. Frazier Forster, sadio mane and van dijk would be good to start with lol.

Agree4 Disagree0

04 May 2016 15:26:21
I've said for a while koeman is my number 1 choice. Think he's the right fit for us and he's done a great job in the league so far. Maybe just maybe the transfer warchest might be enough to tempt him. Plus it's not like we have a crap squad. There's a lot of good players and we're only a couple of signings away from a top 6 at least. I'll be a very happy blue should he make the switch. I'd even consider putting martinez head of youth development not that he'd accept it.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 May 2016 19:58:43
If O'Neil comes I will never go again, he is the start of the decline at Aston Villa paying too much for players giving them long contracts and then walked out! God help us.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i have to admit i dont want him one little bit HBKAJ..

03 May 2016 20:19:42
I shouldn't worry about it. I know this is a rumour site but people are getting ahead of themselves, I include myself in that but am at last beginning to see the light. There has been no message or hint out of the Club that Martinez is leaving and Martinez himself is talking and planning as if he is staying. Does that sound like a man who has been told he is going or a man that has been given some kind of re-assurance.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - you make a good point mate..

03 May 2016 20:52:47
I don't think it is either humpin. I would suggest that it is the Everton way not to say anything until the fat lady sings and the taxi arrives, in which case Martinez's strategy would be to carry on as normal, which is what he is doing. Of course it could take at least another year before the taxi gets through the traffic, by which time you will probably be humpin your own leg in desperation.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - love it mike..

03 May 2016 21:16:03
All prem clubs are big businesses now, no major business let's it's MD (the manager in footballs case) do a major open staged interview like the Carragher one, release it to the press (it would have been reviewed before being printed and the video being posted) unless it was an accurate message from the business (club)
I wrote on here as soon as it was released that it was the club statement and it was. He will be on the touch line in August.

03 May 2016 21:16:12
Won't just be my leg though will it. You have heard of a Hyena bonk I take it!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - a hyena bonk?..your having a laugh.. :)

03 May 2016 21:24:51
I'm 76 mate, at my age any sort of bonkin is a treat.

{Ed025's Note - im a youngster of 57 mike and have totally give up on all that lark mate...give me a bacon butty with HP sauce any day.. :)

03 May 2016 21:55:02
I agree Svenny, I would like to think that Mr Martinez is capable of changing but in 7 premiership years he has not and has no intention of doing so (his words) .

Agree1 Disagree0

03 May 2016 22:18:39
And here's me thinking I was the oldest swinger in town.

{Ed025's Note - no frank its deffo mike...he was in the same 5-a side team as methuselah mate.. :)

BlueMike75. You have made my day after reading your retort. made me smile that.

As much as I am pleased for Leicester it also is very frustrating as they so remind me of us under Moyes tenure, hardworking, defensively strong, quick counters and a strong team work ethic. Then you look at their players and see how they have almost overachieved again a bit like us, now they will have a fight to keep the cream!
Maybe Everton FC players and management need to take a long hard look in the mirror and ask themselves given Leicester's achievement have we really done enough for ourselves, the club and the fans?

Believable6 Unbelievable0

03 May 2016 18:46:52
Every single club in the league could say that, some more than us. It's a remarkable story that all football fans should just enjoy without finding within it a reason to be miserable or have another go at our club. Jeez.

Agree3 Disagree1

03 May 2016 19:48:11
Dortmund villareal and athletico play same way as Leicester and it works liverpool r tryin to do the same but u need a strong defence EFC haven't had that in the last 2 seasons and the manager won't change his philosophy it seems so it needs to be that type of manager so who fits the bill is the question simone would be considered boring in premier league if he would come Id be happy wid koeman.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 May 2016 21:16:34
You just need to look at Bayern and Athletico tonight one 4-1-4-1 the other 4-4-2 RM needs to abandon his Barcelona wannabe game plan and expand his horizons.

03 May 2016 15:13:03
Newspapers in scotland are suggesting that the Rangers management team of Mark Warburton and David Weir are top of our list for the managers job.

Believable0 Unbelievable6

03 May 2016 15:25:03
Either deluded or on a wind up to sell papers.

Agree2 Disagree0

03 May 2016 16:39:10
Yep agree 24/ 7. there's no way we could go for that. Not ambitious enough for me.

03 May 2016 16:39:45
Weir perhaps as a defence coach.

03 May 2016 17:11:01

This campaign to vote Niasse our player of the season, although vaguely amusing it is essentially bullying one of our own players who really has not had enough time to show us anything so I ask everyone to vote seriously, my choices were Barry, Mori and Lukaku.

Believable7 Unbelievable0

03 May 2016 15:16:29
If you ask me Niasse is trying too hard, or he did on Saturday. I seem to remember some Everton fans asking WTF have we paid £800,000 for this load of crap for, the guy in question was Gary Lineker.

I'm not comparing the two, but at least give the lad a chance.

Agree6 Disagree0

03 May 2016 15:44:15
Hit the nail on the head there Svenny its just bullying why some would even consider this is beyond me. Its disrespectful both to him and the players that actually deserve the award.

Agree4 Disagree0

03 May 2016 15:49:47
I don't think that Niasse is a stand alone striker. He showed some neat touches on Saturday and would be best if playing with Lukaku IMHO. Of course my opinion does not matter and the fact that we have played with a single striker all season (I don't count Kone as a striker) means the situation will not change unless we change the manager.

Agree2 Disagree0

03 May 2016 16:42:50
Having a laugh Frank, Lineker was different class. Saw enough of this lad on Saturday (and in Russia) to recognise that yes he is unorthodox but sorry to say Roberto was thrown a wobbly one with him.

Agree0 Disagree2

03 May 2016 17:08:20
Yes Lineker was different class, agreed.
I wasn't comparing the two, just making the point that Lineker got a few moans and groans when he arrived.

Martin O'Neil, 64 now so a bit old for my liking. Not a bad record though.

Guided Leicester City to the Football League Cup final three times, winning twice. As Celtic manager between 2000 and 2005, he led that club to three Scottish Premier League titles and the 2003 UEFA Cup Final in Seville. After joining Aston Villa he achieved three consecutive 6th-place finishes in the English Premier League and guided them to the 2010 Football League Cup Final.

Thing is Frank our epic shortlist seems to be a work in progress?

Agree0 Disagree0

03 May 2016 15:00:59
Celtic/ Rangers. My Grand Son could win that League with either of those two. Ask Lennon how he did with Bolton, when he came down to our league. I don't particularly want him back but I believe Moyes with resources would do a very good job and better than some that have been mentioned. Benitez, Pellegrini (a Gentleman but knows what he is doing) are better than Moyes in my opinion. However, all this is hypothetical surely, have an inkling that Mr Martinez will still be with us next season. Hence why I and my son are holding back on our season ticket renewal.

Agree2 Disagree1

03 May 2016 15:07:30
Agree, not the big name fans would want but could certainly do worse. His record with Ireland is pretty strong as well.

Agree1 Disagree0

03 May 2016 15:11:37
Yep, I did forget to mention that betfair have made O'Neil 5/ 4 favourite for some reason and this is why I posted it.
I agree with your Moyes comment. I liked him, at least we had a pair with him in charge although I think there may be better choices out there.
Interesting times ahead.

Of course they would ED or they'd end up skint.
Bear in mind bookies are not always right, but never much wrong either, it's why they exist.
I just wonder why some people seem to have had a flutter on O'Neil, maybe it was another Finch Farm inside job :)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I was answering your "for some reason" comment.}

03 May 2016 17:00:20
I do not see a reason for it but as Ed indicates they must have had a substantial sum posted, in any case I know who has come out on top over my many years of the occasional flutter.

03 May 2016 13:41:53
Well if Mr Martinez is leaving Everton Football Club after the Norwich game, then judging by his comments on the future either he has not been told or he is in never never land. Of course on the other hand, the certainty that NSNO seem to have on his leaving could point towards them being sold a crock of porkies and they fell for it.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

03 May 2016 14:41:00
I read those 'predictions' on NSNO too, and thought it bold to pinpoint etc.

However RM's comments have always been a bit 'iffy' to say the least and thankfully it's not just disgruntled blues who are thinking this any more.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 May 2016 15:12:53
I'll go for never never land.

Fair play to Leicester but what were Spurs trying todo last night. Terrible naivety to enter into a brawl with Chelsea. If I was a spurs fan I would be livid with that performance last night.

And Pochetino coming on the pitch! The whole team and the coach mugged themselves right off last night. Shocking.

I watched it with my other half and have to say it was a bit gladiatorial so much so the missus didn't get bored at all.

03 May 2016 08:58:58
Full marks to Leicester, as for us, my Dad used to say at the end of each season,

'Ah well that's us, Always the Bridesmaid never the Bride'.
Jees, last two years we haven't even been invited to 'the night do'!

Well done Leicester super achievement and not one defeatist comment from claudio like i'm taking a knife to a gunfight unlike mr moyes giving up and making excuses if he didn't believe then what does he expect from his players point bein having moyes back as manager would be a massive step backwards no thanks claudio must have bought a tank for the gunfight well done again have to say i'm very jealous rite now but happy for Leicester.

Agree1 Disagree2

03 May 2016 12:18:33
If Moyes is a massive step backwards from which situation are you taking your level, for instance, how the heck can Moyes be a little step backwards never mind a massive one from where we are now? If Martinez stays and we have heard or not been told anything to the contrary remember, I predict you and your ilk will be on these boards complaining the Board did nothing about it.

Agree0 Disagree1

03 May 2016 14:08:50
They could put groucho marx in charge and he'd do better than the ilk we've had before.

03 May 2016 07:46:25
Leicester, fewest shots, fewest passes, lowest possession since 2006, lowest passing average for 10 years. But only 23 players used (settled side) won most games 1-0. The list goes on. What they did do was win the Premiership and they did that with Teamwork and preventing the other Teams from scoring. All very well Mr Martinez and Mr Rodgers with your theories and refusing to change but this is the Premiership playing a game that is a results business and Mr Ranieri has just showed you what could be accomplished if only you would take your heads out of the sand.

SHML

''theories'' that's about the sum of it your'e spot on mate!
and like certain pundits (who have played in th PL btw) say RM's idea of football just doesn't fit the PL and perhaps may suit La liga or serie 'a' much better.

Agree4 Disagree0

03 May 2016 05:39:39
Ranieri came in and asked the players what the success to staying up was, he then went with that. We had a foundation laid by Moyes which was ripped up by stubbornness and cost us dearly. Fair play to Leicester proves that hard graft and togetherness can prevail over spending millions on prima donas. You watching last night Riola, bet you don't offer ROM about to Leicester.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

03 May 2016 02:56:22
Don't even care about Everton today, just so happy for Leicester. What a great day for football. Can't wait to see Ranieri's interviews.

03 May 2016 02:22:20
Well congratulations to Leicester City on winning the Premiership. I am very please that the Everton team and Manager (and hopefully Bill Kenwright) will be able to watch Leicester parade the trophy and their fans serenade the squad. I don't know how much the Leicester team cost but Morgan was about 1M pounds, Huth cost about 3M, Vardy about 1M and Mahrez less than 0.5M. The amount of cash offered by Chelsea for Stones could probably have bought the whole Leicester team. Hopefully it will be a lesson for our Manager who only offers excuses for gutless performances, our board who don't aspire to the same level and for our over-paid and opinionated players whose teamwork and performance is a pale shadow of their Leicester counterparts.
