Kone. Anyone know what his contract situation is? Think he's been unfortunate with injuries but after a decent run in the side don't think he is the answer. I think we are woefully short up front if Lukaku gets injured.
Anyone also know what the deal is with Ramadan dates and whether this would impact on Besic as well as Kone?

So we lost. So what? It's been a buggar of s season with so much verbal hyperbole from RM I'm switched off from it. Such utter BS. The truth is out there and I've manned up and seen it. We have a narrow and limited number of skilled players. The rest are squad journeymen. We have a limited range of tactics. When they work, its great but the tinker is at it every week it to change. Old adage - Don't change a winning formula. So I suffer a miserable Saturday afternoon. I'll get over, now I am looking for that silver edged cloud. I can only look forward to the next match. The question burning me up is. what team will turn up?

{Ed025's Note - hopefully a winning one TT..

Not only did we lose yesterday, but also had to put up with that smug "Super Manager" Sherwood. Guy actually believes it's all down to him. Though this does put me in a bit of a dilemma here. His philosophy is don't pass it unless it's a positive move, so don't pass for the sake of it. RM's philosophy seems to be pass, pass, pass, because possession wins games. Try telling the Mancs that. So who should I prefer? Sherwoods look at me I'm great, and my team can beat anyone. Or, Martinez we control the games and lose even though we're phenomenon. I think I prefer goals win games, not possession. Bye bye Roberto.

I actually thought he was very respectful of Everton no matter what he thinks of himself, either way it was a very good win for Villa.

Sherwood has turned it round pal.
Beat lpool in semi final sumut we couldn't do got Benteke back 2 his best & dare I say it got cleverly playing in more of an advanced midfield role scored couple of goals in recent weeks.
Bet if Lambert was still there they'ed have been relegated & knocked out of the semi by lpool so in a nutshell he's worked wobders in short time he's been there & if they win the cup then he will be a genius.
Again we ain't won a trophy in 20 yrs shocking when u think abt it.
Oh villa won a European cup sumut we've never ever achieved.

I was starting to get concerned that we might sell some of our promising young stars, after that truly disgraceful performance, i'm now inclined to say sell the bloody lot and let's start againe, with a new manager, and a new owner. The good old boy from the boys pen, mr evertonion, has draged our club to the point where prem servival is seen as a good season and a major achivement. It is not your personal train set, you are merely the present custodian,, of a cherished institution and if you had any real reguard for the club, you would accept that it is time for you to move aside.

It is an old saying but also a very valid saying, 'If it ain't broke, why fix it'. Having said in the Echo how he is not one dimensional and is tactically astute, against villa he changes the side that played some of the best football this season against Utd, no midweek games, can't be to protect them against tiredness. The tactically astute Manager did not set up to counter Delph, considered by many to be the midfielder on form, the tactically astute Manager did not put anyone on Benteke the inform striker but instead allowed him the freedom of our panalty area. Finally do not be fooled by Kenwright or Martinez into thinking this is a one off, but a sign of things to come, we have better players yet Martinez will still endeavor to turn us into a middle of the table team vis a vis Wigan. One other thing Coyb's, have any of you heard him yet apologise for taking Wigan down and look at them now.

You think that was a let down? I just watched the 2 best fighters of my generation, something I've waited 5 years for. What did I get? A half assed manny pacquiao getting wrestled for 36 minutes. Still made better viewing than our time under moyes.

02 May 2015 23:43:46
Right, we lost, oh well, we got beat because 1.we were too negative first 25 minutes, 2.villa are on fire and 3.benteke is on fire. We didn't get beat because 'osman didn't play and we all know he would of outjumped benteke, outpaced cleverley and dominated the whole game by himself'. He wouldn't of made a difference, he didn't when he came on (WHAT! I THOUGHT HE WAS GOD?) and neither did barkley who, by the way, i'm running out of bad things to say about him but He. Is. Garbage. Tim howard, what are you?, the natural thing to do if you want to be direct is hit it to the 6 foot 3 belgian up front (or 5 foot 7 jesus reborn osman who we all now would destroy 6 foot 3 vlaar in the air!) but, what does he do? Oh what's that? A 5 foot 5 not even 8 stone wet through aaron lennon? Here ya go mate! Woops!. let's face it, he's terrible, oh what I don't get is 'give baines another season' yet these same people, 1. don't think joel is good enough (IRONY, HORRIBLE HORRIBLE IRONY!) and 2. Thing we shouldn't sign lennon 'because barry hasn't been as good as he was', WHAT, so don't sign him INCASE he's not good? Ah well, good job lads, in fact, let's NEVER sign anyone again and let's NEVER promote a youth player again INCASE they're not as good as we thought. Oh yeah, that will make us a successful club won't it!? Hello? HELLO!?. And don't even get me started on coleman, you see when its clear a player on the left is having to much space and is evidently dangerous, the normal thing to do is get tight and don't give him room to breathe, okay seamus? Good lad, NO ITS NOT BLOODY OPPOSITE DAY, what did he do? gave him even more space, OF COURSE!, genius, ah, ballon'd'or here you come!. He doesn't make subs, erm, bobby? You might want to change it up a bit if its not working, but I bet this same team starts vs sunderland, he won't change a losing team but changes a winning team first chance he gets, FAIL. Of course people will point towards martinez and poke him until he breaks. Have you heard of bill kenwright? he's the self serving person that is chairman, yes, chairman of this football club. Is it any wonder we aren't a top team?. Oh believe me martinez has his faults, at least he tries to get us playing entertaining football and makes exciting signings, this guy stuck with david moyes for TEN YEARS, TEN YEARS of endless boring drifting through time, managers get sacked if they don't win the league, they get sacked if they get relegated, but he didn't geg sacked for winning NOTHING for TEN YEARS, oh, yes, he brought us jagielka, mirallas and naismith. 'but moyes never had money to spend'-ahaha okay mate, james beattie? Yakubu? Bilyaletdinov? Heitinga? These guys wernt bought for 50p at a car boot sale. This fool called victor anichebe (the worst striker to EVER wear an everton shirt, he also lasted 8 years) the new didier drogba. Bill? Hows about investing a big of that arteta money you still have in a shoebox back in yours? How about getting elstone and that other plonker to invest? No, you don't have the balls. 'oh but he only wants the best (remember the meaning of that word) for everton because he's a blue'-really? Is that why the club is currently mid table and since he's took over has only been top 6 consistently at best. That consistency came under david moyes, who, never improved and never had a winning mentality, so what did bill do? Kept him here for 10 years and let him walk off to utd and slag us off and what did bill do? Called him the worlds best manager of course, well done 'blue bill'. he's the best because he wouldn't complain about you using this club for your own gain and would happily keep the club just above 10-14 other teams so you could rake in all the cash. If you really want the best for this club, bill, get us some investment and please LEAVE the club. don't say 'oh you pump money in the club while I remain chairman, make all the key decisions and never have to spend a dime'. Anyway, back to this season. Its been awful, it really has, can't wait for it to be over.

you know what Swan, I've just had enough. I will not be logging back onto this site which in general I really enjoy. Mostly because of your incessant negativity, I actually thought Ross and Osman made a difference when they came on. Yes we were poor but FFS calm down they actually had something to play for. Our season is over and yesterday was a bit of going through the motions and I believe that's understandable. My mother used to tell me, if you haven't got anything nice to say then don't say anything. How about it? Goodbye all and thanks for the, in general, interesting posts.

At first I couldn't be bothered to reply to your post Swan. But here goes.I will state some things that I feel are facts.
1. When Moyes took over we were playing terrible football and were in the bottom 3 and looking certs for relegation.
2. In his final seasons we were playing football that was far more entertaining than what is being served up now.
3. In his last few seasons, we got through to cup semis and finals as well as qualifying for Europe and remaining in the top 6.
4. We had a policy of bringing in youth and not aging players. odd exception. We also scoured lower league teams and far reaching leagues for shining stars.
5. Under RM we had an amazing 1st season, but then did some strange transfer business.see previous posts were we disagreed.Kone, Alcaraz, Barry as worst examples.
6. RM seems to have tried to make players play this season in a way that they are not comfortable. It bores the crowd silly and then we get on the players backs their confidence drain away as quick s a pint of Guinness in an Irish bar.
7. He cannot seem to stick to a winning team and tinkers every week.
8. Statistics (not my opinion.statistics) show we are about 100 times more successful with Osman in the team. Not getting into the details yet again because it bores the asses off people.
9. We look a million years away from winning a trophy now. At least under Moyers we were getting close.and in my opinion, if the git hadn't buggered off to the red side of Manchester, we probably would have by now. Funny how we see things differently eh?

Agree0 Disagree2

05 May 2015 08:25:40
1.true but we also finished VERY low under moyes. 2.no we were not, in his final season all we did was hoof it fo fellaini and that was it. 3.we went 4 years without europe, woops!. Yes we reached semis and a final but what happened when it cane to them? He bottled it of course, 1 nil up after 25 seconds vs chelsea and he has everyone sitting back, what a fool. And no, he went 10 years without a trophy but because he left it means if he had stayed we would of won one? Please degsy this is too easy. 4. Yes! All those youth players like, um, stones (who he didn't play)? Garbutt? (who he didn't play), ah, um, gueye? (haha lol). I mean ooh yeah all those youngsters, under martinez we haven't signed any young players except galloway, stanek, besic, henen, deulofeu and lukaku but apart from that, in 2 years? Yeah he only gets really old players. 5. Yes because as well all know having jelavic, anichebe and vellios and ending up with lukaku, eto and naismith is terrible! Anichebe achieved far more in his career than poor sammy eto, who was always crap, that jelavic guy who had 2 goals in 9 months or something is miles better than 19 goals in a season lukaku. Oh and as we all know, david moyes never ONCE made a bad signing, oh apart from wright, yakubu, bilyaletdinov, johnson, beattie, jelavic, davies, that italian centre back who we paid 5m for, forgot his name, that chinese fella brought in as a mate for le tie, drenthe, straquerlarsi and the list goes on and on. Yes, because moyes never bored the crowd, hell, the only exciting player EVER bought was mirallas. HOOF! HOOF!. 7. This is true, problem was, moyes also had his favourites, howard, neville, osman (how didn't we win the league!) and if players did well on a rare chance, what did he do? Banish them to the reserves for 5 months, OF COURSE!. 8. Jesus christ change the channel, your boring drivel is about as riveting as a kick in the balls. 9. I already answered in 1 so i'm finished.

Actually the only winner in this is Toffee Ace.

Personally, I think Moyes got a lot right during his reign as manager but the problem he had is that he never took risks. Either on players or in matches. He always took the safe root and we as fans never questioned him until toward the end of his time with us.

Martinez is the opposite. He takes too many risks and instead of playing games safe early on when a win isn't so vital (Keiv) or changing inform players when there is no need to rest them (weekend).

I also think that the poor early form this season made him stop the right/left backs from attacking and instead relied on the wide players. Mirallas was injured most games and the others like Atsu and McGedy were not good enough and this hampered what should have been an early recovery.

Nerves, lack of confidence and poor decision making from both players and manager after that through desperation just caused a snowballing effect.

As for the players you've both mentioned. They have all contributed to us getting to Wembley, 5th in the league, Europe, winning points or yes, losing some as well.

I think Osman is a player that creates time and space and rarely chooses the wrong option but is not going to light up the pitch with pace and skill. I also think in a winning team Barkley excels and Jelevic was the loser in a battle of styles to suit either him or Fellani and because of this it shattered his confidence. He is still only 1 goal behind Lukaku in the league and in a poor Hull team as well.

Mirallas always thinks about himself both on the pitch and off it. Robles deserved to stay in goal as he was fantastic but he is still prone to stupid mistakes. Howard is steady but shoot from outside the box and you will score as he stands on his 6 yard box line all the time but again these are just my views.

You both have yours which are rubbish(only joking) but it's the beauty of this site and why it's called a Banter site.

Steverton don't listen to anything any of us say, unless it's Ed! It's just some steam and it's good to get some other views other than your own.
