Another rant (sorry guys). I think the summer window before next season should be when we sell any players not committed or pulling their weight or losing their touch (even if they are star names i.e. Baines, Jagielka, Pienaar and Howard to name a few) then we need to rebuild with fresh, young and passionate players. Everyone wants to see a team that tries its heart out even if it may take a while for results to come. There are only a couple players I see doing that at the moment: Mirallas, Besic and Barkley (more often than others) and coincedentally these are the players that are creating things going forward and have been actually decent this season. Get it sorted Martinez or get out.

By 'players I see doing that' I mean putting in passion and trying.

Hate when people blame Europa it's utter rubbish! Players that earn that much should be able to play twice a week for god sake! And also we haven't had any Europa during the time the last four games were played, so how can we blame that for our short comings and trash performances?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - very true TMH ..

. tottenham r in the Europa league & they aren't doing so bad r they.??!!?? It's all excuses I'm afraid, Everton fc is in the worst mess I've seen for years & the buck stands at the manager - time to get rid, never wanted him in the first place, his managerial record confirms all you need to know - he cannot defend & doesn't know how too which costs us points & ultimately relegation!! Come on, I mean even the crazy gang + Vinny Jones won the F.A cup but that doesn't make Joe Kinnear a great manager does it? Can't quite believe Bobbys still in charge, any other premier team would of sacked their manager by now amidst all the un-motivated newly-signed contract lazy buffoons!!

Howard jags baines Distin kone hibbert Alcatraz osman eto pienaar Barry .all over 30.throw mcgeady and robles in .and most should not be any where near are club.please can anyone tell me why bobby or what was he gaining giving some of the players the contracts he did.a badly ageing squard.unless something is changed quickly ie players who are not good enough shipped out.we need young hungry players people who will come off the pitch look in the mirror and say to themselves I gave 100%.sick and tired off players wailking around.but then again how do you motivate multi millionaires.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

To be fair an awful lot of the blame lies at Martinez feet. Barkley is not a DM but a very effective AM and Roberto not on the wing you person. Baines is an effective wing back or LM he is not a CM Roberto you person. Your unbelievable arrogance is going to end up with the demise of this great Clubs Premiership membership. And you Mr Kenwright, where is your input.

Fully agree with that richie, we need to ship out those who are not giving their wahe worth and replace with those who want the chance to play for our club, whether that be promoting within such as browning, green and ledson or replacing with other available players. I'm not too concerned with jags or even howard (as a back up keeper) but to move forward we need a 1st team quality keeper (begovic would be my 1st choice), a centre half to the same dicipline as jags or distan a few years ago, preferably in mid 20's, 2 wingers, preferably delufeou and konoplyanka. Barry, distan and 2 existing wingers need to be far from our 1st team, shipped out or retired if possible. Thereby leaving a squad of:-
Gk. Begovic, Howard
Rb. Coleman, Browning
Cb. Stones, Jags, New Cb
Lb. Baines, Garbutt
Dm. Besic, McCarthy
Cm Barkley, Ledson, Osman
Rw. Mirallas, Delefeou
Lw. Knoplyanka, Green (Although likened for a cm role, I feel may develop into a sheedy type winger)
cf. Lukaku, Kone, Etoo, Naismith.
Playing a 4 3 3 (1 defensive mid and not full running full backs should shore up the defense while operating still as an attacking unit) Half the goals we have conceeded is due to full backs being out of position, teams counter attacking this particular weakness and barry/distan/mc carthy not being fast enough to replace the player in a more advanced position and also not able to defend against on rushing attacking threats. This I believe is why we need to ditch the full out attacking 4231 which becomes 2 centre backs 2 centre mids trying to defend against teams, where j mac and barrys natural positions are midfielders and not full backs we are being caught out. Back to basics of if we are attacking down the left, the left winger, left back and right winger are involved in the attack, likewise if attacking down the right wing, the right back, right winger and left winger are involved in the attack. My starting line up would be Gk begovic rb coleman lb baines cb stones, new cb/ jags, dm besic, cm barkley McCarthy, lw knoplyanka, rw mirallas, cf lukaku. Plenty of ability both going forwards and defensively, very little players over 30, enthusiastically permitting youth and energy into the team (particularly in midfield where it is needed) pace and trickery on the wings and with that attacking football across the front line rather than sideways and backwards possesion football. Those signings would not cost too much but could make the important impact needed to drive us forward into the new year. Would never have thought I would have said this a season or 2 ago, but the sooner Stones is back in the team rather than distan, the better, likewise besic rather than barry, 2 over 30's who I feel are more intersted in their own ego's & salary than E.F.C.

Agree0 Disagree0

Good post that Craig. I agree and like the look of those signings. Reality however.

Matty Kennedy back from Hibs in the next couple of days, surely must be given a shout over McGeady and pienaar?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - he would be if i had any say in it QB..

He's coming back because he couldn't get a minute for hibs, he really shouldn't be getting any for us yet at that rate.

Is anyone else deeply troubled by the revelation that Justin Bieber is an Everton fan?.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Just a bit!!

Happy for him to invest as long as he never steps a foot in the UK or has any involvement in anything to do with the Club

Agree0 Disagree0

Probably media speculation, but hardly the role model that we would want to influence younger Blues

Would personally give Stanek Lundstrum and Browning run ins against West Ham.

Cant be as bad as Robles, Barry and Alcaraz surley?

And I reckon Lundy would do well next to Besic or Jimmy Mac.

Dont think i'd keep lundstram at the club after what blackpool fans have been saying about him.

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't think Lundstram would be up to it mate, apparently he was average at best for Blackpool in his recent loan spell

Yeah, but playing along side trialist 2 and 7, its probably going to be hard for any young midfielder with hardly any first team experience to move about and make an impact surely?

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jan 2015 22:56:57
Yeah but he was WORSE than trialiat 2 and 7, some saying he's the worst footballer they have ever seen at the club.

ed, are we close to signing anybod, are we chasing any targets?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - not anything tangible rob, we are looking for a keeper but who im no privvy to mate..

03 Jan 2015 14:42:12
Here's one for the think tank!
how about Charlie Adam (Stoke)
play him in the old Peter Reid position,
make him captain for the leadership we are missing?

nearly ever time we have signed an ex reds player we have won something,
I can hear the growns now, but we need a true captain now, & he wouldn't cost 28 mil.

Ive heard from the grapevine that a Liverpool player called Steven Gerard or something is going to be made available for free in the summer. Maybe we should consider him too?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i think we have enough players who are past their best QB..

03 Jan 2015 15:08:22
If we want an old, fat & useless capt. we can give Barry the armband

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - its not just barry that fits that description pod..

03 Jan 2015 15:14:44
Haha fair point ed, and Pod, our current captain is old, fat and useless anyways.

I wouldn't let Martinez spend another penny in the transfer window. The squad is good enough to stay up. They just need proper organisation, square pegs in square holes, belief and a leader on the pitch. Seems obvious. Delivering it is another matter.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Square pegs in square holes is exactly right. The players don't seem to know where they will be playing each week. We have forwards on right of midfield, 3 potential number 10's picked and squeezed into the team at the expense of cohesion. Confidence has now dropped because of it. Gareth Barry needs to get hold of a game with a more balanced team on the pitch. A return to fitness from Osman would help. or even play McGeady ahead of Barkley, Naismith or Eto'o in that right side position. Trying to accommodate Eto'o, Barkley and Naismith takes away our right sided threat and puts all the pressure on the left to deliver. Teams press us high and Baines can't get forward so we look like we will never score a goal even for our 60 odd percent possession that we usually have.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - play mcgeady before barkley?..im not ross,s biggest fan degsy, but thats taking the piss mate!..

Dont play mcgeady things aren't that bad yet. He is up there with the worst I've seen including nyarko.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes Ed. I would play McGeady before Ross. Ross is obviously a better all round player. But McGeady is a wide right sided player. This is what I think Tedster is on about. Square pegs in square holes. Look at the teams through the season that RM has picked. Early on when McGeady and Osman were fit, we did ok. Then when Osman got injured and McGeady lost form and confidence (coz he is hot a bad player overnight), RM began tinkering by trying Eto'o or Ross or Naismith on the right. none of which worked. He even put Lukaku there for a game I think? Anyway, that also allowed him to put either of the other two as the traditional number 10. So in effect we had two number 10's and another on the bench. For some reason people seem to forget the work that the likes of Osman, McGeady, Pienaar and that type of player do. They link the defence to the forwards. Holding onto the ball turning and bringing the overlapping fullbacks into play. No disrespect to the 3 mentioned above, but they are used to either doing it further up the pitch or being more direct. Out of all the players mentioned. to me it is a no brainer. Osman is the best adapted. So far we have played 20 games and won 5. Osman played in 4 of them. He has only played in 1 losing league game. I know Swan and a few others do not like me going on about him, but please look at the stats. We have won 1 game in 20 without Leon Osman!! That was against QPR. It is not because Osman is brilliant. It is because we don't have anyone better to play that role on my opinion. People talk about getting rid of players. I would rather get more players in!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - mcgeady has not become a bad player overnight degsy...he has always been crap!, pienaar is finished as well imo mate..

That's unfair on him Ed. He has looked ok in the past. He has just lost confidence lately. You know from my past posts he has never been my favourite player, but he is at least a right sided square peg that can fit into a right sided square hole. I would prefer Osman of course. but I would also prefer Angel De Maria or Andros Townsend. Both of whom work extremely hard and link the defence to the attack. But what's the chance of either of them now?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - no chance degs..

To have a positive balanced side you must persevere with either Atsu and McGeady.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i do like balance tedster, but its got to be achieved with better quality than them 2 for me mate..get the cheque book out bill..

He would just go for Moses or McManaman.

Agree0 Disagree0

Come on Degsy. McGeady has to be the worst of Martinez's signings (and he never played for Wigan unlike Robles). Let's start the search for a new manager as quickly as possible before he's given the chance to squander any more of the money in our coffers which would be an attraction to a new boss.
