Use our rumours form to send us everton transfer rumours.

03 Feb 2015 23:04:57
This has probably been the quietest January transfer window for a long time and, all in all, I am happy with our dealings. Eto'o has gone but, in my opinion, he flattered to deceive. He was never going to be a regular starter and I think his contribution, during a very difficult period, was minimal. Lennon, on the other hand, is an experienced Premier League player and I welcome him to our squad. In my view, we are stronger after the window, rather than weaker. We have good players who have underperformed this season. Interestingly, we have 15 games left. If we won all of them - highly unlikely - we would equal last season's points tally. On current standings, we'll do well do be in the top 10.

Problem with letting Eto'o go is yet another goalscorer leaves and we sign yet another player (Lennon) who does not score. I understand Eto'o as disruptive, but RM ss to have a policy of letting players go who have chipped in with goals and then replaces them with players who average less than 1 goal per season. In my view this is a recipe for relegation. Besic, McCarthy, Barry, McGeady, Kone and now Lennon have all been brought in and score probably less than 8 goals a season on average between them. He let Anichebe, Fellaini and now Eto'o go who probably score 23 between them. Yes Lukaku was also brought in, but if you think Mirallas will probably go (another 8 to 10 a season), you can see why we need to play games the way we do at present. ie holding on to the ball as much as we can. Another factor is that Osman and Pienaar regularly chipped in and we have not replaced them. To rely on one player for the majority of goals is very risky if he loses form or gets injured (as happened earlier in the season). I can hear Swan groan as he reads this, but last season when I was suggesting this potential problem, he and others started to question my sanity. The proof is in the pudding. If Atsu progresses, then there is a possibility of goals there.but he is not even our player. Likewise if we sign that goalscoring machine, Tom Cleverly, then we will be ok I am sure. I also understand that our current tactics mean our 2 fullbacks have stopped scoring. Perhaps that's area that Lennon can help with? I certainly hope so.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes degs but if matinez let eto go six months after we got him then he must of been upsetin the apple cart mate and you never no but lettin people like that go could be the turnin point in our season one way or another

Agree0 Disagree0

I always begin reading your posts degsy and wonder how long it takes you to mention osman! As good a servant he has been he is just that, a has been. We need to be looking forward not backwards and to mention Mccarthy and Besic as non scorers is irrelevant due to their position. They provide protection for the defence not support for the attack. I for one would rather see a midfield with them 2 in then one with osman and pienaar! Pick your strongest side on ability and not with sentiment. I understand it's opinion but sometimes opinion needs sense.

Agree0 Disagree0

Shakey, I agree that Eto'o had to go. My post was aimed at saying we are signing a lot of players that score very few goals.

Now I know there are certain sections on these pages for certain threads but because its such a big game, would this be okay on the banter site ed? Team for the derby lads?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - they will have to go on the teams page really mate, the head honcho,s tend to frown if teams and formations are put on banter....sorry..

:(

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i know mate..

Would seriously consider 5 at the back of jags stones alcaraz Coleman and baines. Besic and Mccarthy in the centre with kev and smiler on the flanks. Naisey playing the false 9 position. 5-4-1. Potential gamechangers on the bench in Ross and Rom.May come across as negative but with the position we are in and with Chelsea up next gives us a different way of playing by
setting up to defend and hit on the counter.

Agree0 Disagree0

Im not a fan of five at the back

I posted several times in January that I didn't want RM to have any money to spend in the window. Got a bit nervous when I read about possible exits though. Big decisions in the summer.
On balance I am happy. I will take a loanee who plays wide right and has some pace that we haven't had since Deolefeu. So if RM sees him as a wide right player, a position that one or two say we have a slight weakness and plays him there it's not a big risk. It should help us play more directly, especially on the counter and get to the bye line, which will allow Rom to receive the ball facing goalwards for a change.
Whether I rate Lennon or not he wears the shirt so has my support. Go mental with my kids when earrings, piercings and tattoos are under discussion though, but that's just the Meldrew in me. I'll forgive Besic though 100%.

Just seen our latest on loan signing being interviewed, diamond earrings in and looks like he just got out of bed. I know blades are expensive but bloody ell he needs a shave.
Forgive me fellow posters I was born in an earlier age.
Shirt, tie and a nice suit to boot!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Fair comment that Mushy, personally speaking he can have as many diamond studs as he wants, a gob full of gold teeth and a ZZ Top beard for all I care, so long as he does the business on the park.

03 Feb 2015 18:59:15
What does the way he looks have to do with his football ability? Just like I said in an earlier post most of our fans our judgmental.

Agree0 Disagree0

Mushy is not being judgmental. It takes 5 minutes to have a shave. You can botch up an interview for a job if you haven't made the effort, what's the difference here?

These are the little things that make the difference.

Agree0 Disagree0

Toffie ace the diff is he already has the job so he don't need to impress with the way he looks

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - it would have been nice if he would have smiled a bit though shakey, and at least looked as if he was happy to be here mate..

I don't really care how unhappy he looks ed as long as he produces on the pitch that has to be the b all and end all don't it surly mate

If you would still go to games an support our team if we got sent down then reply yes. If you would not then reply no

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - yes

Yes, it's a huge part of my life.

What fan would say no??????

Yes, cheaper tickets aswell.

Agree0 Disagree0

Of course.

Agree0 Disagree0

Of course. We are all a little masochistic, I guess.

Agree0 Disagree0

No way, I'd go and support Man City instead.

Only joking, it's like a marriage supporting Everton, till death us do part.

Agree0 Disagree0

100% yes. Season ticket holder for life

Agree0 Disagree0

I would crawl over broken glass from my home in Swansea.

Agree0 Disagree0

Its suprising how many people said yes but while were still in the pl and in europa and for the last month while we have been rubbishI would say 95% of the fans have been slaggin our team off certanly on this site so I say if you would support if we dropped down why not support us now while we have things to play for and that includes getting behind bobby aswell as the team I understand it sometimes gets frustrating but once a blue allways a blue so support us through the good times and the bad instead of calling for the heads of players and staff

Agree0 Disagree0

It's not surprising at all. Fans being frustrated want to air their views on this site regardless of their desire to support their team.

Now that you've revealed the true motive behind the question, it probably wasn't worth answering in the first place.

Agree0 Disagree0

The point of the question was no matter were we are we should support them through thick an thin do you remamber last season martinez an the team were the bedt thing since dliced bread now we have a bad spell there all crap an need sackin its a banter site not slag ye own team of in every post site I bet the playrrs and staff read this site an think what's the point

Agree0 Disagree0

No offence intended to you shakey, however the point which you do not seem to grasp is those who are unhappy and voice their opinions support the team no matter what.

Just because you are unhappy with something does not mean your feelings towards the club or the team change, it means you are unhappy at how things are going and say so. It is a concept called freedom of speech.

It would appear there are a few on here who think as you do with regards to what support is and how to do it. Which is fair enough, everyone is entitled to their opinion.

However some of those who think that way (And let me add you are NOT one of those) Can be totally obnoxious in putting their views over, they do not wish to discuss, just hurl insults and be hypocritical in their condemnation. But what is telling is the fact that none of those holier than thou hypocrites answered your original question as to would they support the team if relegated.

Also if the players and/or staff do read these pages, good, let's hope it gives them a reality check, to see that a lot of fans in other words the paying public, without whom they would not have their over paid jobs are not happy about how they have been going about it. If it offends their delicate sensibilities that much they are in the wrong career.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - good post wedge..

03 Feb 2015 16:20:26
Now that we have Lennon and McCarthy, if we play George (Green) and sign Ringo Abdulrahman from Al-Shamal Sports Club in Bahrain (he is a real footballer, honestly) we'd conquer Europe no problem whatsoever.
But let's start with a massive 3 points on Saturday first. COYB!

{Ed025's Note - yeah yeah yeah..

03 Feb 2015 17:48:57
after the derby, it'll be more a case of "While my guitar gently weeps" for the blues

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - you know as well as i do juicer that form goes out the window in a derby, you are a fantastic team playing brilliantly at the moment, all your players are better than ours and your supporters are the best in the world, add to that when you s**t it smells of roses and you must be 1/50 mate, surely you will demolish little old everton?..

Juicer? Wait till we 'squash' you, you won't he coming on here taking the 'pith' then.

Not been on for a while but erm yeah, happy with the 3 points, didn't think it was possible to win a game without osman. Annoyed distins not gone, not happy with lennon and I don't want cahill back. The good thing with lennon is its a loan (que everloan shouts) and if he's bad (which he will be) then he goes back, if he does well (which he wont) then he goes back, yipee!. Shame we didn't do that with mcgeady, enjoy your day

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Same old negativity. Fans like yourself that let the rest of us down.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Feb 2015 10:44:10
haha okay mate, as I said, enjoy your day

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - we have to look forward now i believe swan, there has been a lot of negativity on here, myself included, but what say we give the guys a break and see if a bit of positivity can rub off on the team, we have 3 mega hard games with a tricky leicester game in the middle to look forward to. so im saying new month new start, COYB..

03 Feb 2015 11:27:03
Ed025 even I've been somewhat negative lately but this has been caused by a series of poor results and performances by the players and the manager and a general lack of communication from the club to the fans!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i agree wakka, its been hard to see anything positive lately mate, but they are still our club, and im getting fed up of looking on the bleak side, im saying lets see if we can improve and rescue this season and maybe have a go in the europa cup, i think its worth a shot..

Well said ed, everyone is entitled to a little moan every now and then but feels like no matter what we do at the moment people moan. Even when we keep a clean sheet against a in form palace team away, people moan that we were lucky. Everyone has been saying how much we need a winger with pace, we get one in on loan and people moan.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - its been a hard time for us all HB, lets hope we have turned a corner and the smile returns to our faces mate...and a win on saturday would help..

We have all had our moans sure, and most of us have been genuinely worried by where the club is and what has been going on behind the scenes. Much as I doubt we will find out for sure it does look like Eto'o was a trouble maker.

From almost the moment it was mooted in the press that Eto'o was on his way, things have changed, we mixed it up against Man City. 10 men give West Ham more than a run for their money in the FA Cup replay. Okay we were poor against WBA, but even last year we struggled against teams who parked the bus at home, it is hard to play against a team that has come for a point and put 10 men behind the ball.

Against Palace yes we were lucky to keep a clean sheet yes, but by the same token except for a good save from Speroni and poor finishing (Confidence?) we could have put the game to bed.

As far as Lennon goes I was against a swap for Mirallas of course, but as an addition to the squad it is a different matter. He will give us something different, more direct and will get the ball forward faster.

At the end of the day I am actually looking forward to facing the dark side on Saturday, two weeks ago the thought of it was a nightmare. Now it is different, we are into a run of games where no one expects us to get much out of. We know form goes out of the window on Derby Day, if we can get a win or even a draw with a good performance we can push on.

Agree0 Disagree0

Finally some positive talk on here all doom and gloom lately thinks fans need to get behind team now massive games coming up won't b easy, glad to come through window with mirallas tbh think we can get result next week coyb

.looks like Etoo is about to be booted out of Sampdoria after just 1 week of being there. refusing to participate in a training session after a 5-1 defeat after the weekend apparently. mmmmm.I'm beginning to wonder what if any disruption he had on our dressing room when he was with us?!? & whether he was 1 of our big problems behind closed curtains. He was the same at Anzhi apparently & Chelski & Mourinhio got rid. 1st game he's gone & we win our 1st game away against high flying Palace.
