lucas digne addresses the tattoo question in first conference saying 'its nothing to do with football but with a necklace his mum and dad gave him on his first day of school " the Liverpool fans are probably just angry I said no to them twice, I am blue"

My last post got swamped by FFP comments by mistake (my fault) .

I’ll asked more directly: do you reckon we will bring in any more signings before the deadline or is our business more than likely done? If we are to bring people in, is it more likely loans, loan to buy or outright signing?

Bluereason3 it all depends over the next few days who goes and see how many signings can be made due to FFP. 🤣🤣🤣.

Is it me, or have we spent way to long try I g to get mina, when he didn't want to come to us, not being funny but he's tall but not a lot more, he couldn't get in the Barcelona team, and I don't rate them at the back, As that good, at Barcelona you don't do a lot of defending. Now rojo, I mean come on, him and kean next to each other, he was kept out of the team by smalling, Jones, why aren't we after these first, there obvously rated more highly at utd.

Believable0 Unbelievable3

{Ed004's Note - I would fly over to Manchester and drive Jones myself to Everton if they made an offer for him. Rojo's injuries are what have kept him out of the squad. He's never been able to build a proper relationship with any cb at the club}

03 Aug 2018 11:47:19
I just can't see why we haven't, I understand the rojo injuries, but what happens if it carries on with us, left short at the back. just hope it's paper talk, but time is getting short.

Utd want Mina, how better to take Everton out of the equation and stop Barcelona upping their price to utd than to offer Everton Rojo, for a similar price.

So we pay the same price for Rojo as we would for Mina.

Am I missing something why we would roll over and give utd the money to buy our top target and in their view, a player not as good as Mina but the same price.

I would look elsewhere, there must be other centre half’s available other than Rojo.

Let utd stump up the cash from elsewhere, before we become an even bigger laughing stock at Utd.

{Ed0333's Note - Is Mina that good tho bignev? I’m not so sure he the colossus people are making him out to be. I’d put him on a par with McGuire and I think Mcquire is just a poor mans John terry, a very man actually nae destitute. There’s better players out there for the reputed £35 million like Matip. Now there’s a Rolls Royce of a footballer you can have off us for a cut price 35 million. Well even throw in a free taxi ride on us to Goodison.

03 Aug 2018 15:53:17
Ed004, if you're thinking about driving Jones to Goodison I'm heading out after tea to start taking road signs down :-) The lad's guaranteed to commit one horror mistake per game. I'm pretty sure Brands and Silva have got better options than him. Lascelles at Newcastle for starters.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed004's Note - Where theres a will there's a way. I will not fail in dropping Jones off at Goodison.}

03 Aug 2018 16:40:06
We'll pay £30mill for you to keep him.

Neither for me but in my honest opinion a consistently fit Rojo is streets ahead of Mina. For the life of me I cannot understand this Clubs constant fixation with recruiting rejects and relegated personel. Brands I like and he has a CV and contact list to rival many with greater 'names'. Silva, you will not be surprised to read I have my reservations. No 1 is not his Managerial/ Coaching CV but his commitment. For one reason and another the bloke does not stay long in any Club. Now I have to ask, does that really fit with Evertons long term planning. No 2, is Silvas CV Premiership record, I do not care about 'he did this, he did that' in other Countries, I am concerned that his current CV does not bode well for a Club of our History and forward planning.

To be honest Ed I agree, he had a decent World Cup, but at club level I thought there were plenty of mistakes in the guy as well as looking slow.

Would not bother me one bit if we pulled out of the deal.

Ed004, depends how quick your car is because you drop Jones off and I'll have him back at Manchester before you half way back lol.

Not really concerned about the teams around us improving this year.
Leicester have lost Mahrez so unless they spend big and buy quality, he is going to be nearly impossible to replace.
Burnley don't seem to be able to buy anyone and the Europa challenge may distract them, if they qualify.
West ham look to me to be doing the same as we did last season. Buying for the sake of buying.
Newcastle finished 10th but have no money to spend, well, unless they sell Lascelles to us.

So we could do something this year if we can get the players in we need.
First couple of months might be a bit of a roller coaster with everyone adapting to Silva/ premiership.
But as the season goes on we should be stronger.

to be honest i'm not really fussed on how other teams are improving, just focus on us if we get things right then we'll do well.

As a football fan of many years, I sometime write posts on here as an Evertonian through and through. On other occasions I write as a football supporter generally. ie even without Everton, I would still have the desire to watch football whenever possible. This actually gives me a bit of a conflicting thought at times. eg Yes we have made 2 good signings and yes we have some great kids coming through. But in football it usually takes time for a team to "gel" together and we all know how poor we were last season. None of the 3 managers got us playing anything near attractive football. We have "got rid" (I hate that term) of some players who featured last season and await other signings with bated breath. That so far doea not sound to me like we are in a stronger position. maybe the manager will get us playing great football we will see. My main fear as an Evertinian is that our biggest rivals have quietly (for once) gone about their business. They had weaknesses in thei squad and signed Salah (what a revelation) and more recently a solid center back and keeper. I suspect they will do more than challenge Man City at the top. Their squad scares the you know what out of me. Get ready for noisey neighbour time I think! And on this subject, I really do hope I am wrong!

They who must not be named have been going through a building process over the past 2-3 years and have thrown a lot of money at the cause.
We are at the start of that process but cannot spend the same amounts as them, so logic says it will take us longer.
The optimistic view is, we are in a better position to build than we have been for so many years.
We must trust in Moshiri, kenwright and Brands to take us up that level.

With Brands I feel we have a good chance of 1st cementing 7th in the league and then challenging the 6th best team in the league, whoever that may he at the time.

Degsy the way I get by is I don't follow their results mate, but to be fair I ain't bitter, I just don't follow them BUT I think your right regarding this season. them or city. and in all fairness the Mgmt and recruiting by both clubs has been top draw if we are being honest. as Smit said we have stumbled a little bit. I have got a feeling that our team may even surprise us this season. if we can get another CB, another striker and another cm (dembele or nzonzi type) and give the youth a chance. lookman, Davies, dowell etc iwe could be pleasantly surprised.

The team from the other side of the park look ominous but we can't do anything about them except take them as inspiration and motivation to get above them. Considering where we both are it won't be this season. I doubt it will be next season but we must keep working to that aim.

Have faith, have blind faith, have any faith you can get your hands on but we will get there with the right management, the right ownership and the right support

You are looking at this all wrong. Man City, Lierpool are not our rivals at this time. We have make sure we compete with them on a 1 on 1 basis but in terms of the league and squad, we are looking to get closer to them and pull away from the rest from 7th downwards.

We all need to stop looking above us for now and concentrate on the teams around our current level.

Very true Blue John, optomism can be good but to much of it can only lead to disappointment and unrest among fans. This unrest transmits to the players.
What we need now is realism and try to get closer to the teams above. Play football the right way and give 110% in every game, something lacking last year I feel for a number of reasons.
Yes I have moaned about the appointment of Silva but will support him and the team and hope to be wrong.
Now the season is almost here, let's hope for the best and also that the other lot come second to City lol, would hate them to win the league but if we look as though we are going in the right direction who cares.

Do not be worrying about our neighbours, no denying they have a top forward line, but it only takes an injury, or teams sussing them out and defending deeper that it can all go tits up, City have as good as a third team they could call players up from, for me it will be a couple of seasons before anyone gets close to City.

In the meantime, we can continue rebuilding season by season, Silva has sussed the slackers out, he is doing his upmost to get them out of the club, slowley bringing players in where needed.

It may take a couple of seasons, but the early signs are that Silva and Brands do not suffer fools lightly, just be a little more patient.

For the first time in a while, we have someone who sees what we see and has took action.

I really think they are very strong and have signed exactly the players they needed. 3 or 4 seasons ago we had caught them up and were really quite close, but whereas they have recovered, the wheels at Goodison have wobbled off and we have fallen behind again. Hindsite is a wonderful thing, but the way we have wasted so much money on very poor signings just surprises me. We have also changed direction more times than the Spanish Armarda. We need to sit this one through no matter what happens. It might become a bumpy ride but fellow Blues need to stay calm. Especially if we start poorly.

A little behind but just seen the news Williams has gone!

Feels like a least one dark cloud has been lifted now time for the other couple (Kev and snids)

Never quite understood how a professional player could turn up to pre season in the shape Williams did last year, think it just showed a little snippet into his attitude off the pitch.

Now for a CB who can actually run! Onwards and upwards blues.
