Just announce the manager now. It's boring. United did it quick. Even Stoke

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yes everton should rush the most important decision in the next 5 years because your bored. Good call.

Agree0 Disagree0

United didn't do it quick and we're not stoke!
Mr Blue Sky

Agree0 Disagree0

Moyes was in place at united for at least the last 6 months and well stoke are only stoke, a small club compared to us

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes, but Stoke got it wrong; very badly wrong. Would you rather we had rushed in and appointed Hughes?

Agree0 Disagree0

Yea, stoke did it quick, and look who they got, mark hughies, that's 1 relegation spot sorted for next season

If we were to renew fellaini' contract, would we be able to get rid of the release clause so we could get highest possible for him?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Short answer-yes! Though his advisors might insist on a clause, we would probably look to make it higher.

Agree0 Disagree0

His dad insists on a clause, he never wanted him to come to everton and has always tried to get him to go elsewhere

31 May 2013 21:08:56
Ok well let's look at the evidence. 9 days ago it was strongly rumoured that VP had been offered a contract. day later everton denied this. BK then asks wigan permission to speak with RM if talks break down. Talks broke down and BK has met RM. Then everton fly in RR for an interview and he impresses. In the meantime Felliani who has hinted at wanting to leave comes out and says he would like to stay. Felliani and VP have links to standard liege. There is also an unknown 3rd person who we don't know if its VP or not. The plot thickens. Well BK does like a good soap opera!. Are we going to see 1 or 2 new faces. is their a take over. will we see anyone internal get the post. confused. you will be. to be continued. blueboy1878. {Ed025's Note - good post that mate..

Don't reckon any announcement will be made over the weekend. Not sure that I like the idea of a 50 odd yr old German, (who has a history, of what is known more commonly in medical terms, as being knackered)taking over. Might just be in there for last big pay day! Unless he comes in, in a similar role as his existing one and acts in an advisory role to Phil Neville, Who has all of a sudden gone quiet! I personnally think the new recruit needs to be young and enthusiastic and in touch with what is already going on Bluenose Will

If moyes does take all of our back room boys with him perhaps Martinez or whoever could bring in all of fergie's old Man United back room boys instead?

All change!

In fact why not stop there - let's swop the first eleven as well? Then the old Trafford prawn sandwich brigade can watch their team struggling to hold on to a one nil lead long after they can see moyes needs to make a change - but not doing so until after they concede :)

Ive just got to say i'm happy with the way Bill Kenwright is thoroughly going through the manager process. I thought he had his heart set on Martinez and that is that. But he is giving everyone a chance and is finally in my opinion looking out for the club and fans best interests instead of his own. I'm looking forward to the new appointment {Ed025's Note - me too mate..

I actually applied for the Everton managers job in 96 after Joe Royle had walked out the previous year and Dave Watson had been caretaker for the rest of the season. Can't remember what my reasons were now but seem to recall being fed up with the shambles that was going on at that time and applying through frustration more than anything else.
I got a very polite reply off Peter Johnson telling me to ef off and that Howard Kendal had been given the job for a third time. Still got a copy of the application somewhere and the carefully worded reply.

The bloke's an absolute belter to be honest with you won. He goes to a pub by ours and is so arrogant its unbelievable. The day after we won the fa cup in 95 he turned up at the pub that evening with the cup in the boot of his car and passed it round all his sycophantic friends to have their photo taken with it. I'm glad he knocked me back really I couldn't have worked with him.

this is without a shadow of doubt the worst hunt for a new manager, martinez the relegated manager with a 25% win rate, ralf the missing man for a year who no one has heard of, oh and the mystery man, which we all know is inside the club otherwise he would be named, forget all the petitions to get paul mccartney to take over or moaning about a badge, the main petition shoult be to remove Kenwright

efc4ever

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Oh my, do you have to be so single minded and negative? You want Kenwright out saying he's doing a bad job but in fact it is good he is taking his time to get the right man, I'm sure you would be complaining if he got a new manager straight away and that manager got us relegated. Martinez, managed a team full of crap players, he done very well keeping them up so long! Rangnick, took Hoffenheim to third after a season when they were an average side. Other man is meant to be Pereira, he would be a big risk believe me! Instead of being so narrow minded and against Kenwright all the time, notice the good he is doing at the moment. Just think who would be cheap and easy to get, Mark Hughes, Neil Lennon and others, but no he decided to go for managers who are very respected. And if you don't want Martinez because he got a team relegated you really don't know much about football, Klopp and Wenger have both relegated teams, look at them! Be positive and not so narrow minded

Some of us remember the pursuit of Don Revie to replace Harry Catterick around about 1973. After much umming and aahing the deal fell foul of the government's rules forbidding (those were the days!) the proposed massive increase in the Everton manager's salary and Revie, thank goodness, didn't join us. A year later he took the England job and within another few years showed his money-grabbing instincts by walking out for a big-money job in the Gulf.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 May 2013 16:01:48
Rangnick not only got Hoffenheim to 3rd in the Bundesleiga, he started in their 3rd division!

I think Kenwright is doing a good job, he may not have the money but I would prefer him in charge to any of the knee-jerk, interfering owners who mortgage the team's future on short term gain

Wait until the appointment to be made - and then have your inevitable moan regardless of who gets appointed

Get behind the team and the new man - its still EFC and its still my club!

Agree0 Disagree0

Spot on with that post TC. It takes time to appoint a manager who will take the club that next step. For the people slagging Kenwright off just remember he ain't a american or russion billionaire. He is a life long EFC fan. He not going to rush into appointing a manager. Stoke have and look at who they got. He knows what the some fans opinion is of him and I believe he is truly trying to find the best manager for the club. You have to think on aswell that he is a buisness man and his work can't completely stop abd he will also as well as trying to find a manager he will be trying to get investment in aswell.

The rumour of Martinez as manager and Rangnick as director of football is complete tripe, we don't have a lot of money so why would we have that position made? Also signings how can we be linked with people when we have no gaffer? its a rumour forum not total b******* forum. COYB

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Moyes was on good money. would rather spend more on getting the right manager/people in place who will find bargains. rather than someone like a harry redknapp who spend for england without great success.

Agree0 Disagree0

Get over it its a rumour anyway the rumour was Pereira with Rangnick as DOF not Martinez.

Agree0 Disagree0

Martinez will want total control IMHO.
Rangnick and Pereira, as DoF and Head Coach respectively, might be a rumour that has legs - albeit one with a limp ;-)

Do we think Everton are looking for 1 manager or maybe a manager and a director of football type?. Interesting that BK has interviewed a lot of people so it depends what role/s they may have and if we have decided to take a different route (Shock a know! BK being ambitious).

reports in mail this morning say academy boss alan irvine poss on way to old trafford to join other poss targets jimmy lumsden chris woods steve round poss phil neville etc only rumours at mo of course all to join david moyes its poss united are dismantling everton structure what's next barclay baines fellini and be warned irvine knows and deals with star kids and there parents not that i'm suggesting anything like that would happen its just very worrying. and I don't read about any comp for all this. but is it usual for a manager to be even linked with taking academy boss with him to new club. ?number 2 yes but academies these days are top secret. anyway i'm sure david would not allow this his beloved club to be stripped bare and also everton would not take this lying down all rumours no truth in it all any comments would be welcome. tp.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

By the law of averages, by writing stories about all possible outcomes - however unfounded or unlikely - the lazy journos are bound to be proved right on rare occasions. If they, like managers, were judged on results (in their case it'd be their stories proving to be accurate and true), how many journos would be sacked each season just like some managers are?
As for the story in the OP, the idea that we'd allow pretty much our entire coaching setup - from first team through U-21 and U-18 to the Academy - to be ripped from us is way too preposterous even for a cynic like me.

tv posted this last night:

tv reporter Vinny O'Connor said on Thursday evening: "There have been several rumours about the next Everton manager.

"And one of the names who has constantly cropped up is Ralf Rangnick, the former Schalke coach. He enjoyed success with them in the Bundesliga, but left in 2011.

"It is my understanding that there has been a meeting between Everton and Ralf Rangnick, and he is one of the contenders for the vacant manager's job.

"We know (Everton chairman) Bill Kenwright met with Roberto Martinez yesterday, and we also know from sources at Wigan that they want an answer relatively quickly as to what's going on regarding Robert Martinez, because they want to find a replacement should he be going to Everton.

"So, we know Kenwright met with Martinez, we know he met with Porto coach Vitor Pereira last week, and now we also know that Ralf Rangnick is another name in the frame. "

I have not seen any rumours reference Rangnick before so It just goes to show that nobody really know what's going on at Goodison and its all speculation.

IMO BK is looking at various applicants and will eventualy pick who he thinks is the right man for the job, I can't see fan pressure influencing his decission so we will just have to wait and see who gets the job.

He will want someone too run the club right through like moyes did, and then the one with best ideas that fit his and understands the role will get it I think!

great point by a recent poster. if we do get martinez, why do we focus on the relegation and stay negative? both wenger and klopp have experienced relegation at the beginning of their careers and I for one would not mind being in dortmunds postion or the postion wenger has had arsenal in the past. so positivity is the message of the day.

i really want Ralf Rangnik as our new manager. if you look at the players in his team at Schalke (raul, huntelaar, howedes, holtby, farfan, etc) then it will be very exciting as this is a manager who likes very high quality players. I know he didn't necessarily buy all those himself but indications are that we will see a new calibre of transfer targets. it definatelt beats raiding wigan for their players!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

OP:

My take on this situation is BK is looking at the 3 main candidates to see which has the DM factor or in his own words that 'majestic' aura,

Lets hope he gets it right

again!

Tell you what 247 that's about right because bill likes to have someone he can leave it to and have less worry over the day to day things, moyes just about did everthing for him at finch farm and elsewhere.

Just to explain.
The odds originally offered by a bookmaker usually reflect their judgment of who the new Eveton manager will probably be. A bookmaker may offer artificially low prices on a candidate they feel will win in order to discourage punters from backing that selection. Additionally, they may offer artificially high prices on a candidate they feel has no chance of winning thereby encouraging punters to back that selection with them rather than another bookmaker.
Once the book has opened and the bookmaker starts accepting bets the prices will change depending on the money received for each candidate. They obviously don't want to lose a large amount if a heavily-backed candidate does get the job. So, if a lot of money is received for one particular selection then that candidate's price will shorten, therefore acting as a discouragement for punters, while lengthening the price of all other candidates. All the time the bookmaker is monitoring his liabilities and changing the odds to ensure a profit is made.
A bookmaker is in the business of making money and, at the end of the day, it's the punters who determine who the favourite is. The bookmaker has no more idea than any other informed individual as to who will actually win the race for next Everton manager, but the bookmaker does depend on the (mug?) punters in order to make money on all those losing bets. Bookmakers hate it when favourites win - because, by definition of "favourite", so many punters will have winning bets. Long-priced outsiders that win are loved by bookmakers - not least because it means that the favourite has lost and the majority of money betted has, by definition, been lost by the punters to the bookmakers. Whatever happens, the bookmaker should have set the odds to make a profit whatever the result and the punters, as a whole, will never outdo them.
Simples.

Not sure if anybody has noticed, but oddschecker appears to show barely any odds on next everton manager, almost all blank. Could this be it?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Which clubs has this German guy - Oddschecker - managed?

Agree0 Disagree0

31 May 2013 00:01:37
Can't say I know a lot about Vp or the German guy being linked to the club. putting the debate aside about whether RM is the best manager for everton or not. the one thing that comes across from the guy is he is a very humble, with no ego to speak of. and I kind of like that type of character (RM was not my preferred choice but ill support the club no matter)little snip bits I have read about Vp could infer that he is of not similar demeanour. and I know nothing about this other chap despite living in germany for some time. any thoughts anyone? Jlaff

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Val Pollard (VP) is far too busy in Emmerdale to take on the Everton job as well, but, if it was possible to do both, perhaps we'd also get a few Dingles in the back room staff.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah that's right so you want us to have Ricky Martin instead?

Really stuck for choice here eh?

I much prefer Roger Moore though personally!

Agree0 Disagree0

Very good gents. although 1st responder has me worried. Emmerdale? and you know the characters names. don't tell me its because your better half watches it because I won't believe you! and Ricky Martin and Roger Moore. some might say you have a type after reading that :-) Jlaff

Jlaff:

Are you comparing Sir Roger (my preference we need a James Bond right now!) to a certain Mr Martin.

You must have an alarmingly vivid imagination :-)))

Where did you get that from?

Agree0 Disagree0

Blue I ain't comparing no one but "License to thrill" could be a term of reference used by some to describe both chaps depending on ones preference and age. personally I have neither - as long as we don't get someone equivalent to Brook Bond or another british super spy like Johnny English :-). That aside just want the whole saga to be resolved now so that we can start panicking and speculating over new transfers! :-) jlaff
