What's everyone thinking about Tosun being dropped and Niasse being brought in? I'm hearing tosun has been poor in training, I hope this isn't true the guy looks like he has potential, maybe it's kust Everton killed Sandro and looking more and more likely killing klaasen, and lookman out on loan? What's everyone's opinions?

Can't see it to be fair. He's still new to the league, maybe just thought it'd be a battling game tonight which, at this stage of Tosun career, would be more suited to Niasse game at the moment. 2 weeks at a club doesn't usually make you a bad player. But, at the moment, with most Everton fans it seems, if we signed Messi and he didn't score a hat trick every 45 minutes, there would be a story or we've been ripped off etc. The lad just needs some bedding in time. All I've heard about him so far is 'He's ruined his career now signing for us" as he is destined for much bigger things.

I'm keeping this short. Seamus Coleman is absolutely frickin awesome.

His first senior game since his injury and on 93 minutes he runs from our penalty area to theirs. He's like the terminator.

He scared the sh*t out them tonight. Also, how good does his partnership look with Walcott?

Can't knock anyone tonight. I know some will want to but they worked hard all of them. That's all I ask for.

Thinking of left backs. I noticed sevilla had released BenoƮt TrƩmoulinas i know he's 32 but could be an option if sam doesn't trust garbutt to fill baines void until we find someone more fitting in the summer. Anythings better than cuco the clown.

Managala will be an excellent signing. Hopefully true with the 15m tag if we want to keep him. That's going to be a steal. He puts everything into the game and he's a big strong lad. I think he can be a bit dodgy when dribbling out of the back 4 though. A very positive signing.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

31 Jan 2018 23:19:25
Think we have nothing to lose on this. No loan fee, just covering his wages. Not a bad player, but is partial to a mistake or 2. Different manager, different style maybe her rid of these. Good signing in my opinion. Would like to see a Mangala, Keane partnership.

31 Jan 2018 22:36:23
How much ground did Gana Gueye cover tonight, nearly every second ball was his. If he could find a settled partner it would be great.

31 Jan 2018 22:30:20
Really pleased with the win tonight, showed great heart through pressing and the confidence seemed to allow us to play with more style. Made it difficult in the end but that's the Everton way. Coleman gueye and Walcott were mustard tonight. Onwards and upwards blues no idea why Lookmans gone though.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jan 2018 22:00:28
The result was the most important thing tonight. Even though we are closer to 7th than we are relegation I still find myself looking down rather than up.
I was feeling positive earlier today Mangala in would give us better balance.
Thinking that Garbutt would play.
Width of Walcott and Bolasie and Lookman as a replacement for either.
I am shaking my head now thinking why play players out of position when we have players there.
I understand Martina playing as Baines injured and there must be something we donā€™t know about Garbutt!

Believable0 Unbelievable2

31 Jan 2018 22:11:03
Watched garbutt few times for u23 doesn't look like the answer but at least he's left footed.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jan 2018 22:18:54
It is quite baffling Robbie. I really get the Bolasie, Walcott thing, even more so when our Manager (who by the way is not the neanderthal, many would have you believe, he is the exact opposite, very methodical) , says on record Rooney and Siguurdson cannot play together.

31 Jan 2018 21:47:56
A great performance from Walcott, fantastic to see Coleman marauding down the right wing again and a really valuable 3 points against a good team. What a welcome change to recent performances that was!

What a weird game to watch though. We were awful, then fantastic, then awful then pretty good. I think that inconsistency in the match shows just how mentally fragile this squad is at the moment. I think many of our problems this year have been caused by the poor mental toughness of the squad.

It was nerve wracking to watch at times but hopefully the fact that we had to hang on and did it effectively after that dodgy 5-10 mins after the penalty will be a boost to the confidence of the players.

If the mental strength and confidence can be improved on in the coming games there is plenty of quality in the squad and I think we will be able to win some games.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

31 Jan 2018 22:08:32
You need certainty and consistency and may I say what a difference a couple of tackles can make add to that we looked far more mobile. I still don't rate the bloke, but Martina put a couple of good tackles and intercepts tonight although I have yet to see the replays later tonight (old age, alcohol and seat position not the best LOL) . Question, always been an advocate of don't change a winning Team, thought that playing and managing. Do we stick with that side or use Niasse as super sub.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i imagine mangala will com in for jags and hope tom gets a rest myself DFS..

31 Jan 2018 22:08:39
Coleman and Wallcot just make us so much stronger on the right. Good summary of how we were. I like that.

Agree1 Disagree0

31 Jan 2018 22:28:10
Nobody has doubted the quality and everyone expected a few tweaks here and there, what we got was a new owner (with dosh) arriving with a new manager whose CV did not stand up to scrutiny and a good Scout appointed way above his pay grade, resulting in a massive influx of players in some cases tripling up for one position. We are now desperately trying to repair the result.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jan 2018 21:47:29
Well. What can I say.
Terrible defending, offering nothing going forward, disjointed and lacking in ideas.
Leicester were terrible.

31 Jan 2018 19:42:58
Letting Lookman go out on loan is. A big mistake.
Don't really understand the thinking behind team selections and the effect it has on the players, it's like musical chairs.
It's not the supporters who need a reality check!,

Sam literally said a couple of days ago Rooney and Sigs can't play together, yet he's gone and picked both. He said Lookman wouldn't go out on loan, but now poof! - he's magically transported to Leipzig where he's sure to get all the valuable PL experience Sam said he needs. Maybe things come in threes. So what's next? I think we've been downgraded from mushrooms to the shovel with the sh! t that feeds them in the dark.

31 Jan 2018 18:40:02
Hi Ed 025 what do you think of Big Sams window so far mate, with us signing Tosun, Walcott and now Mangala seems he has improved our squad no end, but no doubt there will be the odd one who does not agree, but for me Sam has done really well.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed025's Note - the window has been fine GB, we have some very decent players at the club now and with seamus back the ingredients for decent football and safety are certainly there, but the head chef needs to mould them into a team quick smart and give the supporters something to be proud of, im not sure sam is the man to do that but i will give him a little more time to prove me wrong, i have made excuses for him up to now as i want him to do well but the patience of the faithful will only last so long mate, but heres to a bright future an a new beginning and the hope that we will improve and play some entertaining stuff, if not the gloves will be off and i fear my patience will finally snap, lets hope not though as we all love the club and only want the best for our beloved club...NSNO..

Ed I know this will not happen I'm not saying it will. Fantasy land.

However, city has apparently pulled the plug on mahrez could we afford that sort of Deal at this time? I. e. The reported 50+ million on a player?

I know we ain't going to sign him, I'm just wondering at this stage in the market do Everton have the financial power to just go and spend that on a player?

Just curious Ed,

Everton the gear.

Just been said on Sky that no formal offer was issued as Leicester wanted a Ā£95M deal involving a player aswell! Seriously know we wouldn't go looking for that kind of package as City have decided. Leicester are delusional and now have a disgruntled player plus apparently angry team mates unhappy he didn't turn up for training yesterday or today!

Davy wanting to stay and fight firms up my feelings of wanting to see him given another chance. Eds said there's a player there, he was loved by the Ajax fans and played really well in the Europa last year. The lads got bottle and I feel a run of games for it to gain confidence would show us a different player. He can't offer any less than Schneiderlin does so give him a chance Sam lad.

Guernsey I will support the team but reg mangala he hasn't played well since moving to England and us fans are allowed to say how we feel I hope he proves me wrong and if he signed he will have my total support but he isn't what I expected to go for today as I think we are crying out for a box to box mid someone who can pick the ball up and run and that's Nzonzi for me but as each minute ticks down I'm realising that's not going to happen so we have to pray we stay up and regroup in the summer.

Just like to say I'm happy with the 2 players we've bought in this window, but would like to no what Walsh is doing to earn his money, I mean it didn't take a brain surgeon to no we needed a striker and more pace in the attack, did he find any gems! No we have bought established players in there own league, wasn't hard to find, now I see we are linked to Mangalore, spelling, now is this really the work of Walsh or Sam, I could go to the top clubs look at the players who can't get into there team and ask to loan them, we are paying Walsh 1million a year, now if everton are willing I would do the job for a lot lot less, I will go around to all the top teams see the players who can't get games and come back to everton and say he's better than what we have in my opinion. Doesn't seem to me worth paying a million pounds a year.

Super-roo take it you haven't watched them this season then! For a start I have an 11 year old Grandson who has more positional sense and timing than Martina, I am serious. Schneiderlin on form is a class act but to keep picking him in his current form is detrimental to the team, his confidence and ego. He doesn't even show commitment at the mo.

31 Jan 2018 12:14:48
I've been and watched every game this season weather its at goodison or at home on TV schneiderlin will come good I think we all have the same opinion on Martina but doesn't look like we will be getting a lb so what can we do just think if we show a bit of confidence in what we have might get them going a bit for use instead of getting on there case and making there heads drop.

Look we all agree a new DOF is really the way forward. But just stating over and over "what's Walsh for? " Is getting a bit tedious to the rest of us that have to read this drivvle.

You can't even be sure who he has or hasn't signed for us. I'm sure his skills are and always were in delivering top transfer targets.

Wait. to the finish line to judge if spending over Ā£50 mil in this window is satisfactory.

Agree1 Disagree1

31 Jan 2018 09:19:19
Mangala hollgate Keane mori jags Williams. You would think someone will leave. (Williams back to Swansea? ) . Going forward hollgate Keane Mangala mori Kenny Coleman and new left back should be main defenders at club

Klassen Rooney sigurtson - again someone has to go (Klassen to Napoli? )

Besic jmac gaeye sniderlin, Davies (besic will go - think jmac would have too if not injured)

I think we need a much smaller squad and add quality rather than 4-5 signings every window. We must have had the biggest turnover in players in the last 24 months out of any prem team? Apart from city - this policy is not allowing anyone to settle and is simply not working. Doesn't help we are on to our 4th manager in 5 years either mind.

With the news that two of last summerā€™s allegedly exciting acquisitions now going out on loan should the club complete the hat trick and send Steve Walsh somewhere so he can learn the job?

Believable7 Unbelievable2

31 Jan 2018 11:57:04
To be honest we got rid of keoman, now I think Walsh should go as well, all of the players aparts from pickford haven't done well at all, now he has to take some of the blame, the board need to come out and say they made a big mistake and fire him.

Hi Ed 025 we finally get linked with replacements and off some posters go moaning like kids surely it's got to be good news for us at last, I see below some are moaning about Tosun c'mon get real and get behind Everton for goodness sake.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

{Ed025's Note - i agree with getting behind the club GB but they have to give us something back mate, the bunch below us are gaining points and if we dont start getting our act together we could well be back in the mire, i agree that getting on tosun,s case so early in the piece is just silly and mangala is a step in the right direction even though a bit underwhelming for me but we will see..

31 Jan 2018 08:52:18
Gotta say tho, mangala does not install me with any confidence. Surely there must be some good young cb's even in championship we can bring through. What happened to the rumours of Gibson from Boro. He was on everyone's shopping list last summer.
going to be a roller coaster ride and I will support whoever we bring in (even mangala) because we can't judge until they played some games for us. Also it is far too soon for tosun to be getting pelters. Give him til Christmas before judging. Players have to settle.

Mangala may well turn out to be a good piece of business. especially not having to play passing game.

31 Jan 2018 08:24:22
after watching Every Everton game this season it's clear we need a box to box midfielder someone who can pick the ball up and run at the opposition something Barkley could do the question is will we bring somebody in or will we have to keep watching these inept displays of sideways and backwards passing.

mangala just what is Steve Walsh smoking he is a terrible defender.

Believable1 Unbelievable8

31 Jan 2018 08:39:10
He's been a lot better under Pep this year than when Pellegrini was the manager, he is a lot better than Williams and Keane also. this is about the best defender out there for us, plus he was in French squad when he played for Porto so he can't be that bad!

31 Jan 2018 09:46:56
Er isn't this a loan deal to try to fill an area of weakness that's been highlighted. Maybe this is just seen as a short term addition with an option to buy should the player turn out to be a great addition to the squad.

31 Jan 2018 10:41:55
DGold I have watched city a few times and I pray he proves me wrong but whenever I have watched him he has always had a mistake in him I Still believe we need a box to box midfielder but Sam on talksport said mangala will be the only player coming in.

31 Jan 2018 13:24:05
He was a young defender that was one of the most promising in Europe. A big money move and to a club with little patience. He has had more of a run in the last 3 years due to Kompany being a sick note.

He will be much more comfortable with the humble surroundings at our gaff. He will also be much happier smashing clearances instead of trying to play football.
Think he will be good for us. I'm sure a couple more to follow would give even the grumpiest of fans a shot in the arm.

I know its not ideal Bluey but we desperately need the left hand side sorted out, at least we finally sorting out the biggest issue in the team, if only the loan term, I think this is better than sticking with Williams and Keane, Williams in particular.

Hi Ed 025 with this deal for Klassen very near according to reports, do you reckon we will now move for new recruits, ie Nzongi.

linked with nzonzi and go for mangala you just can't make this up.

Mangala is a left sided cb so could see us switch to 3 at the back.

{Ed025's Note - instead of 10..

Haha love it Ed, although with Schneids and Martina its only 7 1/ 2 at the back.

Today is important for two obvious reasons.
Firstly, who transfers in and out of the club.
Secondly, who starts - and who's in the squad - for the match against LCFC.
I hope the Eds are ready for the fans' emotional posts today, as there'll be fuming whatever happens!

I am beginning to worry for Tosun. Obviously the guy needs a goal but Everton aren't the easiest side to score for. I have a theory that the longer a striker plays for a new team without scoring the less likely it is that he will succeed at that club. I have 5 games in my mind as the watershed. At that point I think his morale goes and he gets edgy.

Can anyone name a striker who was bought for proper money who has gone on to succeed at a club after a dry start?

{Ed001's Note - Peter Crouch at Liverpool.}

Note: I said worried FOR him not about him. Yes it is only 2 games but so far he hasn't had even had a real chance. If he goes goalless tonight then I am afraid the doubts will start to gnaw at him. He was signed after a lot of hype as the solution to our toothlessness. I have said before I think he has been given a cross to beat. It worries me that he isn't getting a cross to finish.

Last Summer's transfers are being dismantled one-by-one. It's clear that we offered massive wages to attract those players and that's not left much room under the financial regulations for bringing further players in this window without moving current players out and off the wage bill.

The Leicester match is imo a must win game as opposed to a must not lose one. With the teams below us snapping at our heels we can't afford anything less than three points. It won't be easy the way our lads have been performing this season but if they finally decide to stand up and be counted it is doable. It's not easy I know but Keep The Faith COYB!

No LB in this window, anybody who is left footed who is half decent to get down the flank and give tosun some service, is a disgrace - should have a loan deal tied up by now - really concerning that Everton FC believe that cuco martina will do a job until end of season - we currently have worst full backs in league with a constantly rotating, unsteady and lacking n confidence CB pairing, not much of a foundation! Rocky road ahead! Loved Roberson at Hull and always hoped we would Sign him - looks like one of the first names on team sheet for the reds now had another good game Tonight - in the words of delia - Steve Walsh let's be having you!
