It's a no brainier imo. Even if we loaned him back til the end of the season. Let's be honest I can't see us holding onto rom next season.

Theres a rumour on twitter Tim Howard is on his way to L A galaxy before the deadline. Sounds like bs to me but just passing it on.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

31 Jan 2016 20:51:49
We don't have the squad for him to go. That is unless we are moving for someone tomorrow but no one is going to all their number 1 on the last day of the January window so we would only be going for someone's back up. Personally I think it will happen in the summer.

31 Jan 2016 22:33:06
Twitter? Is anything true on that tw.t of a site. Sorry don't go on twitter. I'm sure the people who use it find it interesting, just not my thing.

This website and facebook does me. And I hardly use Facebook. Seems a lot of people use these things for a laugh or to wind people up.

Can't see it but there are reports we've enquired about Psg's 2nd choice keeper. Bit late in the window but we'll find out tomorrow.

Sky transfer centre reporting Fulham striker mousa demble deal to spurs off.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

31 Jan 2016 19:58:35
Honestly would like us to go in for him. Apparently the move broke down because they wouldn't loan him back for the rest of the season. I think we are in a position to do that if needed. Depending on what happens tomorrow it could be a decent signing.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jan 2016 23:13:22
Is he any good? What I've seen of Fulham matches he only b sub at best not a replacement for Rom. Hope rom stay another year with proper manager we get top 4. If he goes 60m minimum. Can see stones going too so will have 100m to reinvest if this happens have to have proper manager to buy right replacements!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - It would be nothing more than speculation right now. The ball is in the court of the Americans. It is fair to say that there are investors from China looking to invest in an EPL side - but for now, speculation.}

Would not be suprised if the Yank deal has been completed and we are keeping it quiet so we don't get shafted at over priced players this window.

Job done: into the next round.
A clean sheet: very welcome, even if only against a fourth-tier team.
None of our players went missing and they all put in a shift. Lennon was the pick. Our possession play and passing was good. Only tiny criticism is perhaps that we should have scored a couple or so more goals, but that is being really pernickety.
Here's hoping for a decent draw in the next round AND for a productive transfer deadline day AND for a winning run in the Premier League (starting on Wednesday against Newcatle United, who will now be more of a challenge than they would have been earlier in the season) .

{Ed025's Note - not asking for much there then sid.. :)

I still think/ Know RM is not the man to take us further (backward at the moment) but just watched his interview and comments after the Carlisle game. His use of words such as special, exciting, phenomenal is because of language and differences in the English and Spanish definition.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jan 2016 18:42:32
Watch the Paul Merson explanation of Everton and Martinez well over the top but so much we all post about especially how he describes RM.

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jan 2016 16:08:52
Ed025: why not be positive and ask for that much after a good result and performance like today's - we've had more than enough knee-jerk, doom-laden, often vitriolic, pessimistic negativity following poor results for far too long.
Mind you, a poor result/ performance against the barcodes will no doubt unleash a torrent of frustration, despair and abuse AND pile more pressure on RM - not only from the fans (as it has for quite a while) , but also from the pundits (who are now also turning on him) .

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - im all for positivity sid and the performance against carlisle was just the ticket, i would love to think we will kick on from here mate but lets see how we do on wednesday before we promise any false dawns..

Just leave cleverly alone he had a solid game. Some people just never happy! And Kone scored!

Agree3 Disagree1

31 Jan 2016 16:50:52
Yes Kone scored but against 4th tier opposition and placed on a plate for him, the rest of the time it is no exaggeration to state the bloke is ordinary and especially on that left hand side.

31 Jan 2016 18:44:14
Let's hope we sign this other striker Kone looked poor today against bad opposition.

I saw someone mention they would of all three to leave (i. e Ross, Lukaku and Stones) that they would rather see Stones leave. So I am going to ask who would ye like to see replacing Stones for me it would be FABIAN SCHAR he would cost around 30m which may leave you with 20m or thereabouts to buy a playmaker. Posts please.

Who cares about yarmelenko. Seriously you would think he was the only player ever. Because he was mentioned and someone else has put a bid in, all of a sudden we are losing him to stoke. First of all how many actually honestly can say they have watched him week in week out and know all about him. I never heard of him before we played them and got beat. Let's just remember Russian players don't do to well in prem. Seriously can we just drop the yarmelenko stuff he ai t no world beater and we got Kev, geri Lennon.

Very good player PB I wouldn't mind having him play in a Everton shirt.

31 Jan 2016 14:59:11
I agree he's a very good player that destroyed us in Europa but he wants a bigger club than us and I feel we are waistline our time with him and should move on to targets that are more realistic.

Well gibbo somebody has to be optimistic. If the arse can go a whole season unbeaten well I think we can go unbeaten for 14 matches, it is considerably easier. That would give us a max 71 points that gives us a chance. I think that is possible if we recruit smartly this transfer season.

So RM wants to be judged by the fans at the end of the season and not at the present.
A fair point you might say.
The fact is there's 14 games to go and unless we improve dramatically on our previous 14 games results indicate we'll finish on 44 points!

That means that around Easter the vast majority of us will be 'bricking it' watching Stones taking on three opponents in his own six yard box whilst we scramble a few home draws to get us over the 40 point mark.
Now call me Mr. Pinickerty but I don't fancy that stress one little bit!

Some of us remember avoiding relegation on the last day of the season - 1994 against Wimbledon and 1998 against Coventry City. There might even still be some supporters who were alive when we did get relegated in 1951!
So, although we won't relish any more scrapes like those, we're fairly battle-hardened ;-)

For God's sake Cowpat their are plenty of us who were alive in 1951. I was eleven and it was devastating but I still went to every home game with my mate Neville Smith who latter wrote the "Golden Vision" and it was great when we came up, second to, yes you know, Leicester.

31 Jan 2016 16:26:40
BlueMike75: but what happens after you're signed by the club and do well for us and your agent then starts touting you around the Champions League clubs? Do you stay with your boyhood club or move on to win trophies? Besides, would you really be happy (truly, honestly) playing for an Everton side that's under Roberto Martinez? Would you still have the hunger to play once you're coining it on £50K-plus per week? Like was said by a waiter to George Best, as he delivered the room-service champagne, while Miss World was sprawled in the bed and wads of cash were strewn around the room: "Where did it all go wrong, Georgie? "

Agree0 Disagree0

31 Jan 2016 17:46:41
Would never leave Everton Sid. Wish I had had the chance and in my day the top wage was something like 20 quid a week. Can't blame the players of today, few have any affinity with the club, it's just a job but in my day it was, and still is, a passion. As far as Georgie is concerned he was a waste of talent, I have my Mrs. World and she is from Prescot and we have been married 50 years and I don't need wads of cash, I have everything I need at this stage of life.
Enjoy your posts,
Mike.

{Ed001's Note - it is a shame people like you are not the norm.}

31 Jan 2016 16:05:18
In my day boots were boots Ed, not these little girly things that they wear today. Of course the ball was much heavier in those days with a big lace that gave you concussion if you were soft enough to head the ball. You could give the ball a good welly with those boots though. I'll definitely bring those boots along.

At the end of the summer transfer window, we named 24 players in our aged-over-21 squad. We're allowed to name 25.
At the end of the January transfer window, we need to give a revised squad list.
I imagine that Garbutt and Jumior will still be omitted, as they're each on season-long loans
We've added free-agent Mattioni in between the windows, but he might also be omitted if he stays out on loan.
Our two signings so far this window - Tarashaj (back out on loan) and Foulds (aged under 21) - will be omitted.
Naismith has left, so we have a squad of 23 (if we omit Mattioni) . If McGeady goes on loan, that'll leve a squad of 22.
So, we could add another 3 (2 if we do name Mattioni) aged-over-21 players _ perhaps more if there are departures (like Gibson on loan) .
A striker certainly seems on the cards - and a deadline-day surprise or two might also be in the offing, so here's hoping we recruit well and have a strong squad at the end of the window.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

31 Jan 2016 00:54:08
We also have 4 players (Browning, Deulofeu, Pennington and Stones) who will be classed as aged-over-21 come the summer Add these 4 and the 3 aged-over-21 players currently on loan (Garbutt, Junior and Mattioni) to the current squad and we'll have about 30 players that'll have to trimmed down to a squad of 25 players this summer - with even more being "trimmed" if we want to bring in new players. Then there's the prospect of players like Lukaku and Stones leaving anyway - and not forgetting those others who'll be at the end of their contracts come the summer.
All in all, it looks like there'll be quite a turnover in our squad this summer.
