Use our rumours form to send us everton transfer rumours.

30 Oct 2017 22:59:00
Realistically we should be looking at 2 choices. Eddie Howe would be a preference but his style may mean results are not forthcoming and it is debatable how much patience the board and the fans have but I think he is a brilliant manager. Sean Dyche would bring instant results but isn’t the sexy choice nor the big name that the board thrive to take us to future title contender status. The likes of Sam Allardyce shouldn’t even be considered they are the Calibre or manager we would have expected round the Walter Smith times and represent a distinct lack of ambition.

31 Oct 2017 09:02:37
If the club's history and motto still mean anything Allardyce should not even be considered. I like most of the other candidates mentioned they clearly all have risks and merits.
What we do need is someone who can build a project, we don't want to be looking for another manager this time next year. Yes there is an immediate need for points but we are not desperate we have a strong squad and a transfer window in 2 months time. Ancelotti sounds from his recent interviews like a man who wants that type of job.

. we are desparate mate. I'm just not desperate enough to want big Sam, pardew, Moyes, rednapp or Warnock.

So I haven't posted for quite a while, probably since Moyes went and so far I haven't been wrong. Martinez wasn't the guy to move us forward and Keoman should never have been employed as manager because he didn't have the required skills to take Everton forward, so since Moyes left the team have been going backward. Unsworth isn't the answer and if Allardyce the cheat/ money grabber or Dyche turn up then we're moving even further back. Something bad has happened at the club for things to go so wrong. I point the finger at Bill Kenwright for making the poor decision to bring in Martinez, Moyes was becoming boring and Martinez was a joke. Keoman was Mashiri's mate and that was a big mistake too. After Moyes I wanted Di Matteo as he had done the business and proved himself at Chelsea. I'd still put him ahead of anyone else at the moment. There isn't much out there so let's hope the boardroom split can be sorted and that they actually listen to what the fans are saying. There's 28 games and 84 points still to play for that's enough to get us safe, that has to be the priority now, no talk of Europe etc because once again the boys have proved they're not good enough so the sooner the European fiasco finishes the sooner they can concentrate on trying to win a game in the premier league.

{Ed025's Note - welcome back mate..

30 Oct 2017 22:27:32
The fans are saying dozens of different things and it changes after every game. Just a few days ago, Rhino got as many votes as all other candidates put together in a poll on here; now almost nobody wants him. Also, the vast majority on here wanted Koeman at the time he was appointed (read the posts - I remember having the debates) - it wasn't just Moshiri who wanted a big name. If the board listened to the fans, it would be even more chaotic than it already is!

Anyone fancy moyes back?

I think anyone mentioning Moyes name should be made to write "He is a loser" 500 times or run naked round Stanley Park. He went to Man U and told them they were not good enough. Great confidence boost. He went to Sunderland and told them they were not good enough. Great confidence boost. Our players confidence is low. They don't need it ramming down their throats. They need it boosting.

30 Oct 2017 23:18:41
I get why you wouldn't want him ed and probably agree with most of them
But going solely on getting the best out of what we've got, and staying in this league then he's got to be as good a shout as some that have been mentioned we've been on a downward spiral since he left, found some great servants to the club in Cahill, Coleman, Arteta jags all on a small budget.
If he keeps us up I'll forgive him anything.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i cant mick, not only did we play boring football and never even tried to beat the big boys (knife to a gun fight), but he also dissed the club by his comments then tried to buy our better players offering pathetic fees, forgiving is not in my nature..once a traitor always a traitor mate..

31 Oct 2017 00:12:59
I think he'd be a fantastic appointment ;) lol only messing, you'd be going from terrible to terribly bad if he was to return. Avoid like the plague.

We need someone who can get the right formations and get us to january with the hope of making at least two major purchases. a 9 and a centre back with experience and pace to bring keane or holgate on. sadly baines has become a back passer or speculative crosser as his engine runs down and williams and jags need to be kindly moved on at the end of the season. Coleman back we hope by mid January but the defence must be tightened up in the short term as anyone with pace splits us open at present. I don't think jags and williams should play together again barring injuries but I would put Jags there with one of Keane or holgate depending on whose confidence is less shot. who is our best midfield? Cannot really say based on erratic form but up front would tend to go for Vlasic in the centre as he has a bit more weight to throw around and give lookman and DCL the wing positions with Rooney or Sigurdsson hopefully providing a bit of subtlety just behin. and Davies and Schneiderlein linking defence and protecting better than at Leicester. I know it all sounds speculative but the truth is we now have a brittle defence which wasn't truly looked at in the transfer window and the duplicate Number tens mistakes of koemans signings. Although it may not be popular with all blues I would take Benitez as boss for three reasons. experienced in the league, will organise the defence as best it can be at present and the fact that his name will attract better players in the market going forward. On another note, dear Joey Barton! unsworth may not be as slim as you want! but he would buy and sell you as a good human being.
Oscar.

{Ed025's Note - amen to that oscar mate..

30 Oct 2017 21:16:34
Hopefully Rhino will play our best performers against Watford. Baningime and McCarthy in the centre. Lookman and Vlasic and if the stats are correct Siggy instead of Rooney. Apart from Pickford and Keane the rest are much and much the same. Maybe put Sandro in for a bit of pace up front.

Wow Ed 025 just seen that interview with Carragher, do you know anything about this board split between Bill and Mr Moshiri, if true non of this is going to be of benefit to Everton, another bad moment for us fans.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - only that they have different views on who should be our next manager GB, apparently bill wants rhino and moshiri wants a high profile foreign one mate..

30 Oct 2017 21:22:15
Ed I thought the rumour was Moshiri wanted Silva who is foreign but not really a big name? Or is it all just speculation?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - it was marco silva smit though tuchel was another name who has been attributed to moshiri mate..

30 Oct 2017 21:40:27
What we need is Rhino to get a bit of luck, a penalty or an opposition red card or a mistake so we can grind out a win and get some level of confidence back. Hopefully we just go for it on Thursday and get a win.

BK is both an Evertonian and a bit of a fantasist in he would love nothing more than a former player that proudly wore the Royal blue moving up to manage the team!
The reality is we need a more experienced manager and I would guess that when you are looking at the options Dyche is starting to tick most boxes, let's face it the last two foreign managers one of them being high profile have not worked!

Agree2 Disagree1

{Ed025's Note - thats fair comment wakka mate..

30 Oct 2017 19:38:33
It's stating the obvious that everyone is worried sick at the moment. I'm lying pawake at night going through every line up imaginable and only Jordan Pickford is a shoe in.

I had no argument with the Koeman dismissal and no argument with Unsy getting a trial run. Unfortunately despite others Big Dunc, Joe Royle assisting the set up against Leicester was all wrong. Leicester won the league counter attacking and brought back Gray as well against a slow defence with an inexperienced right back.

Whoever the new manager may be I am anti Big Sam. Dyche has succeeded at Burnley largely with a 4411 with the 4 midfielders being defensive, something that made Keane appear rather better than he has shown so far.

I think Moshiri will favour a more glamorous manager and however bad we are there will be no shortage of mercenaries and other mangers who will want to come.

I think we need to consider very carefully our next move. We need to keep our nerve for the time being and try and find a blend that includes pace, which we do have in the squad, but is often overlooked.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

30 Oct 2017 21:11:20
We have a great keeper.
Coleman to come back with Kenny as a great understudy Keane will come good and is quality. Jags can do for one season and Baines is still one of the best left backs in the league. We have good DMC Gueye, Sneideelun, McCarthy and Benni looks class.
Maybe all this turmoil lately is for a reason and Ross comes back in and is appreciated by our fans. Calvert Lewin will be great in a couple of season. Mistakes have been made in rest of positions. Was there a need for Klassen and Sigurdson? Proven that they are good players.
I would have Bolasie and Lookman on wings with Ross behind a proven striker. Davies to push Ross for starting place. Rooney is a substitute impact player.

If Dyche, Unsworth or Allardyce are appointed can they attract such a striker and have they got the calibre to take us into top four? Probably not like Moyes did maybe a bit harsh on Unsworth.
We need to go all out and get Ancelotti or Benitez to attract top players who will buy into the project.
Jamie Carragher made a comment saying Newcastle have championship and average players but have a champions league manager.
I believe we have premier ship players and a couple that can be champions league players. Imagine what a champions league manager could do with them.
Still don’t know what striker they will bring in though as there is not many out there.
Things aren’t all doom and gloom just yet. A couple of wins and a Manager in to get the team playing in a shyster where everyone knows their job the quality will shine through. Watching Newcastle and Burnley tonight makes me encouraged that we are better than this.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed025's Note - but burnley beat us only a couple of weeks ago on our own midden robbie, which means we are not as good as them at this present time mate..

Player to player we are and it’s obvious now that Ronald lost the dressing room. Once the right man is in. And get these players playing to the levels they can. We will beat these teams.

So, Keane in Hospital. Barkley on his way. Ageing back four which is nothing new and no striker.

Sadly I don't trust our Boardroom to get this right although if I'm honest I don't know who is the right man. Does anyone else?

After spending all that money. A new stadium on it's way (supposedly) , why was I more optimistic back in 1994 when Joe Royal came in. What a sorry mess.

Even if appointing Fat Sam as a short-term option is a good idea (which I'm pretty sure it isn't) , why on earth would he take on a project like this as a short-term deal? "Right, Sam, we're in the relegation zone. We'll employ you to get us out of it, but we don't think you're the right manager for us beyond that. So even if you keep us up, we'll be getting someone else in for next year. Course, if you don't keep us up, you'll still be getting sacked but will also have the stain of relegation on your CV. " Tempting.

Plus, people are talking like our only choices are Sam or relegation. He isn't the only manager with a track record of taking teams from the lower reaches of the league and improving them quickly. We have to think longer than 6 months ahead, however desperate it seems at the moment.

Believable1 Unbelievable3

30 Oct 2017 19:21:08
Why would he be sacked if he was on a short term contract? I think seeing as he is unemployed it is in his interests to keep on managing in the top tier of football.

Agree2 Disagree0

30 Oct 2017 19:36:05
How about give Unsy 3 or 4 more games and then if were in the bottom 3 get Sam in until the summer. If he wants the job longer term then let himnearn it. Listening to him talk to Gray yesterday I think he'd leap at the chance and if we are still in the bottom 3 in the next 4 to 5 games time then we really do need the fireman.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Oct 2017 22:34:18

Think Niasse needs to start in the prem, he makes good runs, seems to have a knack of being in the right place at the right time and never gives up.

Also would like to see Sandro on the left wing, where he seemed to drop back to for Malaga last season.

For Watford
Pickford
Kenny Williams Jags Baines
Beni gana Sigs
Lookman Niasse Sandro

Would likle Holgate an Keane at the back but they'd get bullied by Watford.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - they will if troy deeny has his way oli..

30 Oct 2017 19:09:05
I'd agree with that team but drop Sandro for mirallas but then again I'm a red, just think Kevin has that bite you's seem to be missing even if it is from the wing.

Too slow at the back with Jags Leighton and Ashley for me mate, no pace there at all.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Oct 2017 19:16:14
Only them two at the back for this game, Deeney and co will bash Holgate and Keane around more so than Jags and Williams. Would happily swap Sandro for Kev or Vlasic. There's so much of the defence that needs replacing or are too inexperienced it's frightening.

Agree1 Disagree0

30 Oct 2017 16:45:28
Who would everyone want our next manager to be? We look to be in real trouble right now. We are not creating any chances, and our defense will get us relegated if it continues. As much as I hate to say it, I believe our best option until the end of the season is Big Sam. He is proven to know what it takes to survive relegation battles and I believe he would sort out our defense rather quickly. It is much too risky to appoint a manager like Tuchel who has no perm experience, or Ancelotti who hasn’t had to manage a title contender in years, let alone a team in the relegation zone. We then could go in for a more attractive manager in the summer.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - a lot of supporters are saying allardyce denver....i can tell you that im not one of them, i know things are bad but now is not the time for us to appoint someone like that fat headed charletan, i cant stand the guy and we may as well all give up if its come to this, of course thats just my opinion which nobody takes any notice of anyway mate..

30 Oct 2017 17:06:32
At this moment in time we should probably let go for Dyche has done well at Burnley probably my deserves a chance to manage a bigger club and the one for me is he has perm experience my choice would be Marco Silva but it would be hard to convince him and Dyche looks like the right appointemdnt at this time if I am being honest. The job at the moment though is a career defining one fir anyone who takes over.

Agree1 Disagree0

30 Oct 2017 17:09:30
To be fair Ed, we really are in the brown stuff, already 4 points adrift of 11/ 12th place. As someone else pointed out we need at least 30 points just to survive, can you or anyone else tell me how or where we are going to get those from. Sam is the very man we need right now not in January but now. He has never been relegated to my knowledge. Dyche is one for us once we have a few points on the board so he has something to work with.

Agree2 Disagree2

{Ed025's Note - i can see what you are saying DM, unfortunately my soul is not for sale mate..

{Ed025's Note - along with moyes they are my worst nightmare KK, i know things are bad but one of them would just compound things for me mate..

30 Oct 2017 17:38:33
I agree with you about Silva and Dyche Eddy, but I don’t know if they would leave right now. Marco Silva is my first choice, but I don’t see him leaving after 3 months. I also completely understand why people wouldn’t want Sam as our manager and under normal circumstances I totally agree, but as the saying goes “desperate times call for desperate measures”. I feel the defense is most important thing to fix because I can’t see any manager getting us scoring 2 to 3 goals a game with no number 9.

Agree1 Disagree1

30 Oct 2017 17:40:58
Sadly I think fat Sam may be our answer, the team is in such disarray now that it will probably take 2 maybe 3 seasons to fix. It just is not the matter of appointing a couple of strikers I think the problem goes far deeper. The spirit has gone out of the team.

At the same time I do not feel that fat Sam is our answer long term but one of a short term to rebuild our foundations and get us ready to have a manager capable of moving us up.

When the boat is rocking you don't just speed off into the distance and hope for the best, instead you slow down and stabilize it, and then resume the journey.

Agree0 Disagree2

{Ed025's Note - but when that boat is the titanic you need to proceed to the best equipped life raft you can find grumpy, an old upside down table is likely to sink very quickly mate..

30 Oct 2017 17:50:14
Irrespective of him as a person, Allardyce has a proven record of rescuing clubs in this predicament, however could you not also consider his style similar to that of Joe Royle's 'Dogs of War'? ad maybe just what we need?

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed025's Note - but joe was an evertonian who knew the club very well wakka, sam is a mercenary who wont lose any sleep if he fails as long as his wallet can break his fall mate..

30 Oct 2017 19:12:27
The thing is yes Sam/ dyche shoes will sure up the ship but next season would you trust them to spend and make the step up to challenging for Europe/ cups etc? I think you're in a predicament as getting one for those managers and them finishing mid table would probably warrant a fair crack next season but expectations etc will increase and they aren't the managers to do achieve that. But would an ancelottti or more exciting manager take the role at the minute?

The thing is though alanthomo, Unsy knows the players and put his best side out he thought could get a result. Our best Team we could put out is full of players way off form. So what else was he supposed to do. The two that are slowing our Team up now are Rooney and Williams, Rooney because he will not be disciplined and stay in the position he is put and Williams because he is slow, gives the ball away and makes crucial mistakes at crucial times. Unsy is no mug and after yesterday has seen this. I wouldn't mind betting that Rooney and Williams do not feature in our next Premiership Game.

When Coleman and Bolasie return from injury - probably in the New Year - I've no doubt that they will boost the team and performances/ results can be expected to improve.
However, we have another dozen or so PL fixtures before their likely return and we cannot afford to keep on dropping points in the meantime.
If we're adrift at the bottom of the table, it could be too late by then.
I want a win against Watford, but right now I'd reluctantly settle for a 0-0 just to stop the rot.
I fear that another defeat would be met by a wave of numbness and a general resignation to our scary - but increasingly inevitable - fate.
Bloody hell - this is so depressing, especially after a Summer of high expectation!

Don’t think you will see them back in the first team until Feb so we can’t wait on that scenario.
0-0 would have been the best result yesterday i.e you don’t lose and keep a clean sheet.
A decision has to be made in strongest 11 then have options from the bench.
Cards must have rubbed his hands with glee seeing out CB pairing.
My team would be
GK Pickford - Robles on bench
RB - Kenny
CB - Keane - Jagielka on bench
CB - Holgate
LB - Baines
DM - Beni - Gana on Bench
CM - Davis - Rooney on Bench
CM - Schneiderlin - Sigurdsson on Bench
LW - Sandro - Mirallas on bench
RW - Vlasic - Lookman on bench
CF - DCL - Niasse on Bench.

I've read and heard many fans say they'd stop going to the matches - even give up their season ticket - if the club appointed certain named managers.
Fine - those fans are obviously entitled to their opinions and they resolutely stick to their principles, BUT for me it's not a question of a manager's reputation for a particular style of football, but rather his RECORD of turning teams around, getting results and points, and keeping a club in the division that I'm interested in for the time being.
We're dealing with an unbalanced squad of players - several ageing and others inexperienced - who are struggling in the battle for PL survival. Get that sorted out before we can realistically consider challenging for trophies or European qualification.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

30 Oct 2017 16:26:26
Our back 4 should be stronger than last year and we were ok back then. Keane should have improved us in the centre, Baines is lacking in confidence to go forward. They are all lacking organisation and belief/ confidence. Its the same with midfield Schneiderlin and Gana haven't become poor players over the summer they are lacking confidence and organisation. Our number 9 is worse than it was last season but we have to find a way to deal with that.
It is down to the manager to build this team up in confidence and that starts with defining a way to play, picking a team and sticking to it until a player gets tired or injured, then you have to rotate and rest. If a player comes in or on and plays well then he has to stay in the team not be dropped the next week or not even get in the squad. That is how you P**s the players off.

If you don't score, then you can't win, but you can still lose even if you do score.
If you don't concede, then the worst you get is a goalless draw and a point.
We need points.
We cannot afford (in every sense - footballing and commercial) to drop out of the PL.
What'd be the point of a new stadium if we weren't in the PL?
Would there actually be the financial/ commercial structure to make that move if we weren't in the PL and getting the massive broadcasting income?
So, reality check: what do you fear most - being relegated OR having a manager that preserves our 60+ seasons of top-flight football? Honestly, if you'd rather risk relegation than have a manager whose reputation you don't like, but knows how to get results, then I'm flabbergasted.

Does anyone think we should start shifting players like Klassen, sandro, Martina etc in January - It seems Unsworth is not going to give them much game time at all and if a new manager comes in I doubt they will either.
Need to start freeing up some funds for new players as I doubt Moshiri is going to keep pumping money in.

Just imagine ( and I say this loosely ) Moshiri decided to walk away if the club is nosediving into the championship - we owe him 80 mill already from a loan - we have no ground sorted as yet - the players are ageing and we have no players who have real great value ( as was the case with Lukaku ) . it is imperative that EFC stay in the premier league by hook or by crook as we could easily end up a portsmouth etc

History is great but it does not count for a lot these days.

They have not become bad players overnight! They are adapting to the premier league which is tough and takes time. I think we all thought they would walk in and start giving top drawer performances from pre season.
I also believe they have no confidence as they have been mismanaged to this point!

I think the players lost respect for Koeman and once that happens it needs a strong experienced manager to regain the players respect.
We need a united group of players to fight our way out of this mess.
I do not see Unsworth being capable of convincing players of his management ability nor restoring belief or commitment to be honest.
The swift appointment of a manager with experience of this league and a good track record is the only way to turn it around.

Maybe put Rooney up top and fine him if he comes back past half way line.

All the hype to start Tom Davies and Jonjoe Kenny has failed.
Tom is easily knocked off the ball, no shots on target, overruns the ball and runs around like a headless chicken.
Jonjoe has not shown he is a first team player.
They though are not the reason we are in the sh?
Jags, Rooney and Baines passed it.
Williams should never play, why can't Rhino see this.
All the new signings a waste of money except for Pickford.
Nobody will want to come to us in January.
It's a pity we will not be playing Wimbledon
In our last game of this season.
Sad times, but will always love our Everton.

That is a sad post. We are in trouble for the time being but I still have hope. If we don't have that we may as well not bother playing any more games and resign to being relegated already.

We have good players. Need a manager who will get the best out of them. Don't care who it is as long as he puts us back in the right direction.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - im not resigning myself to relegation just yet NBTB but its difficult to argue with what mag is saying, where is our next win coming from?, we have played probably the weakest couple of teams in brighton and huddersfield and failed to beat either of them, its great to have faith and some are saying we are too good to go down but i can tell you now we are not, the players have no confidence and the lack of quality is in a word shocking, unsy is trying his best but you cant make a silk purse out of a sows ear mate, i really wish i could put some kind of positive spin on things as i dont want to feel like this but im finding it very hard at the moment..

30 Oct 2017 12:36:14
Exactly my sentiments as well NBTB mate, I have seen people on here saying we are too good for the drop, what a load of tripe at the mo we can't beat anybody where the points are going to come from I just don't know, for me the only cance we have is for Mr Moshifi to move quickly and appoint a new manager which I am sure he is in the process of doing right now thing are very grim let's keep our fingers x that whoever is asked WANTS to come.

Agree1 Disagree0

30 Oct 2017 12:40:16
Don't think you can blame two youngsters for what's going wrong at the club. We have too many senior players who are just not up to it anymore. And as for the players we signed, they are not a waste of money, they have been poorly managed and are low on confidence. No point signing a midfielder and then sticking him on the wing.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Oct 2017 12:43:30
Ed, one of the biggest issues is that we lost a key player from defence, midfield and upfront. all of whom created opportunities AND scored goals. Coleman, Barkley and Lukaku. and none of the new arrivals look close to being replacements. the only positive in all of this is pickford. that's the only area we have truly strengthened. but as I've said previously, what strategy were the board buying into with the addition of 4central midfielders. koeman may have wanted the players but the board bought them. knowing that we had not replaced those players mentioned. regardless we have who we have and for me the first thing the team needs to do is stop losing. not winning, stop losing. and the management team need to look at each opponent with a view to nullifying the scoring and creative threats. for me we need to balance the flanks such that wingers and defenders can double up when attacking and defending, they need to protect the two central defenders. Gana and another whoever is the number 10, or second striker to be able to interchange between a 4-5-1 formation and a 4-4-2 formation when needed. right now I'd honestly play Gana and maybe McCarthy there and take your pick between Davies, Sandro, sigurdson, Rooney to be that false 9/ number 10/ box to box midfielder. got to defend together and understand the main players of each opponent. they need to be drilled on the defensive aspects. the talent is there. just disorganised still.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Before you rush to replace everyone you need to see how they react with Koeman removed from his post. Everton has some very good players who arrived this summer - they now need the opportunity to express themselves.}

30 Oct 2017 13:06:15
A team is never too good to go down. Totally agree with that. We need a manager that can grind out results at the moment. I don't think we are in a position to go with someone who is established.

Not saying Moyes as the way he left and how he conducted himself leaving was disgraceful. But one thing is for sure, since he left we have been all over the place. When he was here we were consistant and steady.

Not calling for Moyes but do think we need that consistency and steadiness otherwise we are up s*it creak.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Oct 2017 14:21:57
Ed, I don't think I would replace everyone. the back 4 other than Williams imo is set. pickford set, then Gana for me is a definite. their me the rest is up to manager. I have my preference, but as I said it has to be the best 11 for a specific game plan, and that game plan has to begin with do not concede.

30 Oct 2017 09:39:02

Unfortunately I agree, we are missing players in key positions and worried no manager will be able to turn it around with what's at his disposal. Crying out for a centre forward and a CB, no matter how many chances we make if nobody is there to bang it in the net then it's pointless.

Agree2 Disagree0

30 Oct 2017 09:15:23
Don't like to have to say this but we are relegation prospects this season.
We cannot keep a clean sheet.
We cannot score goals.
We have 4 very experienced players who seem to be automatic starters namely Rooney, Jagielka, Baines and Williams play now as if they are past it.
Whoever was responsible for allowing Lukaku to leave BEFORE a replacement was in place has a lot to answer for. Talk of signing a striker in January is easier said than done. Iff still in the bottom 3 in January, who would want to come to the club, sign a contract not knowing if he would be playing Premier or Championship football next season.
At least one top CB should have been signed last summer as Jagielka replacement. I think Gareth Barry's prescience is being missed more than expected. A players contribution is not always recognised until they are not there.
I am not a footballer, only a spectator so cannot pass comment on how a ream should be set up etc, but can see the obvious problems,

Need a much harder Man Manager type to handle the likes of Williams and Rooney if I am being honest. Yesterday Rooney was picked in the No:10 role, yet wanders off post leaving no target man up front. Williams I am sorry to say is woefully out of form. I also agree with the poster that said, it is rapidly comeing near to Sam time the other one I would like is Dyche - down to earth and gets the basics down pat before pissing about.

A few thoughts. For me Holgate is the best centre half at the club, I don't understand the reluctance to playing him in his best position. We need at least one holding defensive midfielder, gueye lacks the positional discipline, Davis needs more freedom, time to give Beni an extended run.
We have been undone by some individual brilliance in a few games this season, Besic the best man marker at the club remains largely unused.
Despite the results I am still positive we have a good squad of players. We need to build around a spine of Pickford, Holgate, Beni, Davis and DCL.

Nobody wants Sam at the club Murf, but the situation is getting serious now and apart from the younger players like Davies and Benni there does'nt seem to be a way forward. Our defence is shocking, even Keane was getting ragged in his last few games. Jags is getting on now and Williams is finished from what I've seen. Rooney to slow, losing posession, what has happened to Gana? All the talent brought in by Koeman/ Walsh either sitting on the bench or not in the match squad i.e Klassen, Sandro.
No wonder fans are looking at a manager to avoid the drop.

30 Oct 2017 09:41:40
No conspiracy theory but it did seem just before Koeman left that there was a bit of an ashurnai going on behind the scenes. Koeman/ Walsh and even Moshri/ Kenwright in disagreement. The main one for me though is what one of the Eds alluded to and that is who the heck thought it was a clever move to promote Walsh beyond his pay grade from Scout to Director of Football. Bizarre. As Ed25 says make no bones about it we are in a relegation struggle we are stagnant and in danger of losing touch from 12th place after a third of games gone.

I've supported Everton for over 50 years and have never known anything other than top-tier football.
I've never suffered the pain of relegation (despite some narrow last-day escapes! ) , but I've read accounts of our club's relegation in 1951. I doubt if there are many fans still around who witnessed that - and maybe just as few who remember the promotion in 1954 - but I'd be fascinated to read more about their recollections of those days and what they feel about the current situation - especially if they think it's being blown out of proportion at the present time.

5 years old in 1954 BobbyC. First started supporting Everton in 1963. Remember those games all to well. Seen good teams and good Managers come and go. Believe it or not this Team and Squad we have now is easily good enough for top 8 at least. Something has messed their confidence and affected their abilities and it needs addressing quickly. What has happened to us? Since the premier league began, we have been the poor relations. We had little cash to spend the moment millionaire owners became paupers as the billionaires rolled into town. As soon as we get decent financial backing behind us we implode spectacularly. We all looked at the previous manager but it seems that there is more than meets the eye.
We have a team low on confidence. A team that doesn't look like they know how to score, rarely working the ball into the box and taking pot shots from 30yards+. A team that keeps less clean sheets than the pontins in Southport. I hated the way RK hooked a player at half-time nearly every week, for me this just shows that he got his tactics wrong in the first place. Rhino subbed two today! I'm not bashing the latter here but surely we should be getting the team, shape and tactics sorted before the game? Without a decent out and out striker, we will continue to struggle but this can be rectified in January. Fingers crossed that we haven't fell too far behind the pack by then. Defensively we are shocking, more so than I can remember. Under DM, we were quite solid at the back but Roberto came in and took 12 months to undo that ethic. We have struggled ever since but it is more noticeable now that Rom has left. I think it is too big a job for Rhino to be expected to take on, especially with his limited experience. Get in a manager for the short-term and put DU as his assistant to learn the ropes. The club needs to be decisive over the next manager and sort this mess out before it becomes a fully fledged crisis.

Well said Blue Potato
If you look at our home fixtures from now to Xmas the hardest game is this next one against Watford .
Yes the next few are now hard games but would have been games we would expected to have won comfortably before our present crisis .
We must ensure we give ourselves a fighting chance once January comes and look to make Goodison a fortress and try not to see a big gap open up by then .
Incidentally I think and it won’t help us this year that the fixtures we started with should not be allowed in future .
Yes I know you have to play evryone in the end BUT if you have such a start and loose them it is much harder than if they were spread out evenly from a psychological point of view
We need a minimum of 17 points at halfway and then hope we massively improve from January.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Oct 2017 00:05:37
We have 11 Premier League fixtures between now and the end of the calendar year.
The transfer window opens on 1st January (when we also have a PL fixture) , so it's really 12 fixtures before we can actually transfer new players into the team. That will leave 16 further fixtures to ensure our survival. Think very hard about what we need from a manager in order to survive this season - especially in those 12 fixtures before the transfer window - even if it's only a short-term, staving-off-relegation appointment until the end of the season.
