Oops just wondering what the chance of bringing young Henry Onyekuru back in January. If possible will help us up top surely.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - he wont get a work permit mate..

01 Dec 2017 00:17:38
How highly rated is he?

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Dec 2017 00:52:58
My understanding is that we will be selling him (probably to Juventus) before he ever plays for us.
Such a shame but a quick profit eases the pain.

30 Nov 2017 22:09:51
Thank ed. Just kinda hoped he'd played enough games or jumped through the required hoops to get one.
I'm sure the club will identify a striker for January. My only concern with Sam's history is it could be a lump like Andy Carroll, who is permanently injured or benteke who is woeful.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - lets hope not geoff we dont need a lamppost we need a quick mobile forward or two mate..

01 Dec 2017 07:31:10
Let’s not worry about Sam’s history as historically he’s never had much money to work with so this is totally different scenario.

Hey Ed 025 Just been watching Mr Moshiri in an interview on TV this guy is the real deal, he was talking about Sam and his experience and ambition and stability for the Club, our owner certainly knows what he is talking about, changes coming up with the board rumblings in several reports on NSNO.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i like him as well GB..

30 Nov 2017 22:15:39
So frustrating to read so many posts knocking him ed025
They wanted a wealthy owner got it chairman that loves the club got it we are re learning to become a top club in a different era so if Everton is in your blood support the club and it’s custodians descisions!

A lot of my pals are West Ham fans and they really don’t like Big Sam because of the style of play and comments he made when he left. Yet, he done okay with West Ham and to be honest, he didn’t really didn’t really have anyone outstanding.

He will get the team to tuck in, work hard and we will win games under him.

He knows the league. Knows the teams. Knows the managers and knows how to get in peoples heads.

I remember a comment he made about Tim Cahill a few years ago!

He’s a football man. He’s English. Wouldn’t you rather give the role to an experienced English top manager than some foreign guy who no one had heard of until last year? I certainly would.

Just seen the report on SSN re Big Sam joining and I am impressed, he wasn't the first manager I would have tried to get but i will back him and his staff all the way, this is the sort of guy I like, he has masses of experience and knows this league, and he is saying all the right things, anybody who is going to get the club back in line and climb up the league will do for me, so many posters on here were moaning we were stuck with our backroom staff, well we have a look backroom staff no no more negativity, let's all get behind the club.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

30 Nov 2017 18:44:23
I didn’t want him! Il be honest fella. I wanted koeman and look how that turned out! Whether I like Sam or not, I’m 100% behind him! There’s only 1 Faaaaat Allardyce 😂😂😂.

30 Nov 2017 18:45:23
Good post GB. Let's give the guy a chance, he's the right manager for the task ahead and he may yet surprise a few doubters. If he parks the bus for the Derby and we beat Liverpool 0-1 he will be hero worshiped! Let's welcome Sam Lee as well, he played and coached at Liverpool years ago, so what! He has good credentials as a coach and tons of experience. We've signed players from Liverpool in the past and Peter Reid was a red until he seen the light, maybe SL will convert too! As long as they both work hard in Evertons interest we should get behind them both and keep supporting our EVERTON no matter what.

Got to be honest Bill will forever be in our hearts for saving us from being another item in a Christmas Hamper but it really is time to know when to give up the reins. As for Mr Ecclestone I have no personal opinion of him but as CEO he has to take some responsibility for some of the chaotic if not incompetent goings on. The buck as they say should stop at the top.

30 Nov 2017 18:02:59
As I've said couple times over last 24 hours. I'm firmly on the fence regards Sam. I didn't want him as manager but I can see where we are as a club and can understand not being able to attract big names.
I hope he does well as the club will do well. I also think he was ahead of his time at Bolton with prozone etc and he may not turn us into a long ball team. He may be able to adjust his tactics to our players.
I don't think he will have a lot of goodwill in the bank if we continue to struggle but, like most fans, we are a fickle bunch and we will get behind him if we start doing well.
Time has come for results based football, not pretty but 1-0 wins will do me.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

30 Nov 2017 17:56:52
Lets get a couple of things straight. Everton have been truly awful for weeks on end and one swallow does not (and all that) . NSNO state 'Everton were wonderful' (against West Ham) , no they were not. Unsy I see Wayne in a deep role, talk about the bloomin obvious. Many of us old and new farts have been saying this for weeks if not months, yet far more experienced and knowledgable people (Managers, including you Unsy) have insisted on playing him in the striker role. That said, I honestly believe that no nonsense Sam will get us playing and not conceding. No mistake it will be ugly stuff at times but he will get us playing to win. Isn't that what we all want, none of this Martinez, 'it isn't the score that matters' and 'free kicks and corners are not proper goals'. 1 - 0's and take one for the team if need be. That will do for me. let's get some pride back.

We could've gone for a more astute manager rather than a panic appointment.

Ed I’m hoping SA gets us playing solid football again, brings the defence age down and gets rid of the dead wood. When the team progresses I would hope the management also does. Chity didn’t just bring in PG straight away, it was a progression.
We are what we are and I don’t understand how people can see us as this amazing prospect to all these top managers.

I was very happy for unsworth last night but at the same time i was annoyed at why those players couldn't produce this display for hin 7 games ago.
13th in the league a few points off top 10 does it look so bad now?
Panic button well and truly pressed and i firmly believe it was way too soon.
Looks like unsworth turnes a corner.

Believable2 Unbelievable2

30 Nov 2017 17:38:34
Yes it is still as bad, did you not see how bad West Ham was? The game and result flattered to deceive. SA is the manager now, let’s give him a fair crack of the whip before we condem him.

30 Nov 2017 17:46:16

30 Nov 2017 17:54:37
Hind sight is a beautiful thing. We conceded 9 goals in the previous 2 games to teams finding it difficult to score normally.

Fair enough if you had full confidence that this 4-0 result was coming, but I think if you asked the rest of us we would probably of thought you were a bit soft.

There was in my opinion no panick appointing SA. He’s not my choice, but I completely get why the club had signed him.

30 Nov 2017 16:34:21
Interested to know what Ed002 thinks of our New Manager and backroom staff. Did the club seek the right person to give the most professional advice? Or was it just a desperation move? Moshiri couldn't get either of his Portugese guys, so did we opt for the Steve Walsh choice? Thanks in advance.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - The club did not take advice although there was someone who shared some views with Moshiri. SA and CS was routed in what Steve Walsh suggested and it is a positive move in that SA will work from a maangement perspective first of all and will look to get the players on side or they will be moved on - and SW can deal with the logistics of moving them on whilst also working with SA with a view to bringing in players to help the cause. Craig Shakespeare knows both SA and SW well and will work on coaching the players with Sammy Lee assisting. Obviously Lee spent much of his career at Liverpool but since Dalglish sacked him (before getting himself sacked over the Suarez affair) I don't know what his thoughts are about Liverpool. I know that a few folks have kicked up a fuss about Lee because he wears Super Stevie G brand pajamas to bed each night, but the fans should give him a break and let him get on with his job. This is not the person Moshiri wanted but I suspect Kenwright gave his support. The initial task is clear as you know, and I see no reason why SA cannot achieve that. After that it is a different matter.}

30 Nov 2017 17:43:49
Well said ed, SA is a good choice for where we are and what was available.

no one seen how made up Sammy lee was when palace beat Liverpool, he is a dedicated coach and if he is as good as everyone says then we got a good catch.

How funny will it be if we beat Liverpool in the fa cup final with SL jumping round in celebration hahaha.

Agree1 Disagree0

30 Nov 2017 17:36:59
Marvellous insight ed. Thanks. I am firmly sitting on the fence regards Sam. I'll support him and hope he does well because the club will be doing well. I worry that a lot of the fans will not have a lot of patience if we continue to struggle.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - man, I hope it works out. But through the holidays it would be neat to see the fans stant true behind him.}

30 Nov 2017 14:56:02
Shouldn't Mingolet be banned for admiting he deliberately fouled the Stoke forward so he wouldn't score. Oh sorry I forgot he plays for one of the so called big teams it's only us small clubs the Fa take action against.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I agree, ban him! Life ban would be perfect. Personally I think the FA are punishing Liverpool by making him available to play.....}

30 Nov 2017 15:09:23
What do you think of Karius, Ed?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - much better than Mignolet but still has a lot to prove. Difficult to do so when you are only playing a few games a season though and they can be weeks apart! Mind my mother would be better than Mignolet to be honest and she suffers badly with sciatica and can barely move some days. She would still be a better shot stopper!}

30 Nov 2017 16:17:34

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - He will look for a way out in order to kickstart his career unless there ais a commitment from the club - you really need to ask on the Liverpool page.}

30 Nov 2017 16:21:29
Mignolet should spend some time with Niasse to learn how to dive properly.

I know its probably going over old stuff again, but how we could do with Ross Barkley playing with Rooney now. with Gueye behind them tidying up. then we would have a forward threat a bit more than we have now.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

30 Nov 2017 13:22:25
I reckon a midfield of Rooney, Barkley (he will sign) , Siguurdson. Gueye + A. N. other DM (Jan? ) , striker that can play hold up (Jan? ) and a rebuilt defence and that combined with the young ones (coached by Unsy) coming through should see us okay. So come on Mr super duper Director of Football Walsh, let's see you earn your corn. We are still waiting by the way. On the DoF front I wonder how Big Sam will work with that set up, I bet that is something else the board forgot to take into account.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Nov 2017 07:08:44
Maybe the penalty save last night could turn out to be another turning point similar to the Adrian Heath goal down at Oxford in the 80s
Because last night in the 2nd half prior to the penalty save West Ham looked like the only team that we're going to score and based on games this season I reckon we would have caved in again
Let's hope we can kick on.

30 Nov 2017 08:00:10
Going to sound really old and miserable now but here goes. We were not very good against a very poor side and yet won 4-0. Sam has an awful lot of work to do starting where he is best at the back. With two young lads in defence I can see the wisdom of putting a senior head in there but maybe Jags instead of Williams and of all things in this Universe surely there is a better alternative than that utter useless Martina. Rooney quite rightly not just for the goals was Man of the Match last night with Kenny a close second. Rooney though will find it impossible to play like that against the majority of sides in the Prem, big Sam needs to find his niche and tell him to stay there or there abouts. Siguurdson showed (just about) glimpses of what we know he can do and Calvert Llewelyn did okay for me although the lad is not a hold up striker that will almost certainly be addressed in January. Huddersfield next, now they will be a test.

Very true and I do respect your opinion Guernsey but I believe the likes of the board and yourself were/ are hitting the panick button far to early. There’s still 24 games left of the season, 72 points! Take last night for example. My opinion is this appointment is a hell of a step backwards. I’m still trying to get my head around Sam Alladyce being in charge of our beloved club. It’s shocking and I for one am gutted.

Agree2 Disagree1

30 Nov 2017 11:37:16
I really must be missing something here. Without Moshiri we finished 7th. We were far from down the swannie. Post Moshiri we’ve well over spent on players worth half there valuation, failed to replace a striker which we were all crying out for in the summer. It was blatantly the first thing we should of done and now we have Sam Alladyce in charge! Well we are most certainly on different pages Guernsey but as you say game of opinions.

Good to see a respectful difference of opinion there boys!

I will support the club like I always have and will back them all the way, but - I do not agree with the recruitment of Allardyce and think he will take us backwards.

I know thing were starting to get a bit nervy and an appointment had to be made, but Big Sam? Really? Ask yourself this, what sort of player do yoou honestly think he will attract in January? I hope i am wrong, i really do.

Agree1 Disagree0

30 Nov 2017 15:05:02
Who would you rate then Pierre mate that Koeman brought in, nobody really springs to mind does it, i still believe there will good players who will want to join Everton, if not for Sam but for Mr Moshiri and the way he has turned things around at Everton, remember where we were with Matinez so called top coach I don't think so.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Nov 2017 15:38:05
Big Sam has been appointed to get this club up to where it belongs and that is top 7/ 8 at least. That should be Sams targets with the players we have to come back and some money in January. If he can't get us from 13th to 7/ 8th then we have to let him go in the summer and bring someone else in.

Agree1 Disagree0

30 Nov 2017 06:24:41
Really noticed all these stay away fans last night, the ground was like a morgue due to the absentees.
Obviously I'm joking, was a more vocal atmosphere as the players seemed up for it, well apart from the start of the second half.
Pickford's penalty save sparked the crowd right back up and in turn the players.
Lets get a win Saturday now and get some consistency, wasn't a great showing last night, but a win is a win and this time.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

30 Nov 2017 04:52:41
Pickford-7-Penalty save was crucial, real star this lad I love him and people who don't support Everton say he is garbage, he's class, miles better than Joe Hart.

Kenny-8-One of his better games today, when he gets around the penalty area his crossing is lethal and defensively solid as usual.

Holgate-7.5-Thought he did well, looked a tad bit slow at first in terms of getting up to speed at centre back but when he did he was quality, won headers, only a young lad but his pace and natural ability on the ball will keep getting him through games.

Williams-6.5-The header stops him from getting a 5.5 because it was a good goal, he looked better which isn't saying much but his lack of pace is a real concern and giving away that stupid penalty.

Martina-7-He did a job, not anything special, he's slow, weak and defensively inept but he did a job and worked hard and that's all we ask, thought he did well.

Davies-7-Not at his best but he never gave in and did some good things when he was on the ball.

Gueye-8-Quality today, plays so much better without Schneiderlin next to him because he only has to worry about his job and not going forward.

Lennon-7.5-I absolutely adore this man, I was annoyed when we signed him because he just reminded me of Walcott with less injuries and a bit more intelligence but he's been boss hasn't he, worked his socks off as per usual, his pressing pushes the whole team on, his attacking play isn't always the best but his off the ball stuff works wonders for the whole team.

Rooney-9-Fantastic hat trick, excellent on the ball and always made himself available, feel like when we play teams that are slow in midfield and defence he can thrive because he will have so much time on the ball.

Sigurdsson-8-Played out of position (AGAIN ) but as usual gave everything, he's become a favourite of mine because he's got his head down and worked for the team no matter what, I hope he gets a go under Sam which I expect him to because of his set plays, love this man.

Calvert-Lewin-6-Won some headers and ran a bit but there's no quality on the ball with him, I never expect him to finish a chance and despite his pace he just gets knocked off the ball too easily, he needs to bulk up quite a bit, won the penalty so yay but still, just don't rate the lad.

Happy with the win, let's just push on now, hope West Ham go down and made up for Rhino.

During my lifetime, I reckon there have been four key periods that have crucially determined our club's prospects.
Firstly, in the early sixties, when John Moores joined the board and gave the finances and leadership needed to kick-start almost a decade of success after years in the doldrums.
Secondly, in the eighties, when the board stuck by Howard Kendall and were rewarded by the success of his mid-1980s team. But for the European ban, we'd have become even more successful.
Thirdly, in the nineties, when the failure to capitalise on being prime instigators of the Premier League PLUS the nightmare of Agent Johnson's tenure nearly cost us our top-flight status.
Fourthly, when Bill Kenwright finally found in Farhad Moshiri the billionaire he'd been looking for to finance our attempt to compete at the highest level.
I just hope there isn't a "fifthly" where the clear differences between Kenwright and Moshiri about key decisions and choices ends in tears - especially for the fans.

I have been extremely lucky in my life with regard to some of the greatest players in the world who I have actually been fortunate enough to see play "the beautiful game". I have seen the brilliant silky skills, dribbles and touches of the Great Pele of Brazil, Eusebio of Portugal, Yashin of Russia and Florian Albert, one of the worlds' top strikers. all performing at Goodison in the 1966 World Cup. Over many years of following my beloved Everton I have drooled over some of the greatest players to have ever worn The Royal Blue Jersey. Roy Vernon. Derek Temple. the brilliant Alex Young, Ray Wilson (the best left back I've ever seen) . Then there was Mr Pepetual Motion Alan Ball in that poetic midfield with Howard Kendall and Colin Harvey, the silky skills and elegance of Martin Dobson and Trevor Steven, the wand of a left foot which was Kevin Sheedy, one of the worlds' best ever keepers. Neville Southall. I could wax lyrical all night over some of the gifted players who have been on Everton's books over the years and love Him or loathe Him One stands out for Me purely because of the skill and technique He showed as a raw kid making His debut aged 16. Walter Smith said many years ago that when he took over at Everton He was absolutely amazed everyday in training at Bellefield by this young lad who was scoring goals for fun for all of the junior sides and attempting shots etc which he had no right to be even thinking about doing at that age! Then he made his debut against Arsenal at Goodison and scored that memorable goal past Seaman. that audacious young lad was of course Wayne Rooney, the local lad who went to become one of the greatest players this country has ever produced. at times throughout his career Rooney has been nothing short of genius, maybe not quite in the Messi or Ronaldo mode, but He has been something very special. Unfortunately for Everton we didn't have the finances to be able to keep hold of him and Rooney went on to Captain Man Utd and also His Country. In the twilight of his career Wayne has "come home" and tonight at Goodison Park against West Ham United Wayne Rooney scored an absolutey mindblowing goal from just inside his own half. Rooney over the years has scored some crackers, for Everton (first time round) , for Man Utd and indeed for England. but that goal tonight was technically PERFECT. there aren't many players in the world who would have even attempted that. from that distance, with the control and body shape he showed was incredible and 38000 people should consider themselves very lucky and priveleged to have witnessed such skill from a man using his wealth of experience to get over the top of the ball and keep it down sufficiently enough to get it under the bar. technique, power and precision. oh and just a touch of brilliance. I can honestly say that goal will rank with me as probably the best goal I have ever seen. George Best, Bobby Charlton, Kenny Dalgleish, Thierry henry, Bergkamp, Greaves would all have been delighted to have scored a goal of that nature. What a strike. welcome Home Wayne.

Fantastic post. not quite old enough to remember some of the players mentioned (my dad would add Bobby Collins to the list! ) But totally agree. when we needed a performance, Wayne, as captain, delivered.3 goals and a captains performance. AND THAT GOAL!

Although still lots of improvement well done lads you gave it everything to get a result and we got one, I said 4 yeas ago rooney should be playing that position he ran the game, still people being negative saying score line flattered us well maybe it did but all I'm interested in is results at the moment and everyone one putting a shift in the rest will come with confidence but let's enjoy it as we have not enjoyed first few months of the season.
