Should tell Rom to have a word with youri tielemans.
He's only 17 and plays for Anderlecht, any idea how much he would cost Ed?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - too much..for a 17 yr old lew, we will be getting the next big belgian superstar in henen mate..

31 Jul 2014 01:14:36
Youri Tielemans is seriously good. Don't see where he'd fit either now or in the future, but would still be an exciting prospect to have

I think Mr. Kenwright has emphatically provided the answer to the "where's the Arteta money, Bill?" question, don't you?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hear, hear Bebbington.

But worry not, the whingers and doomsayers will be back shortly this time focussing on the ground situation.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - some people do like a good moan mate..

30 Jul 2014 22:59:18
Absolutely buzzing off the lukaku signing now we have the best young CB, AM and ST in the league if not the world the future is bright the future is blue. COYB!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - what a spine that is quinny!..

And DM in McCarthy. Can't forget him now.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

30 Jul 2014 22:25:54
I am now really hopeful. I will say to Swan, "Our bet is off, now mate." I really am EXPECTING us to really have a go for a trophy. As long as we hang on to our younger players, we now have the ability to add one or two more (not necessarily this transfer window) and push on for a trophy. Slowly slowly catchy monkey. Our great club is in the right hands and even the missus said, "why don't you go and put a bet on us winning something this season!" Who am I to deny her, her wishes? Love it Blues!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

30 Jul 2014 22:18:45
A little present for you boy's.

Since 2012/13 season, Lukaku is 3rd highest Prem League goalscorer, behind Bite-boy and Robin Van Persie.

Last season, Lukaku 16 goals in 33 games.
With him in side you have a 61% win rate.
Without him, 29%.

With him you score 1.8 goals per game.
Without him, 0.7 goals per game.

Does anyone think 28mill for lakaku abit steep, I do if being honesty, do think we could of got herdinandez of utd, just my openion. what anyone else think

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - not that steep when you consider we got him as a swap for the wig dan....and hes miles better than hernandez mate..

I would b very disappointed if Hernandez was our main buy lukaku is worth three of him with potential of big profits if moved on Hernandez will have none in three years much better young players out there imo

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jul 2014 22:13:22
Has the other Belgian youngster signed as well? I can't remember his name

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I have not bothered to read all the posts about Lukaku. All I will say is I was mocked for suggesting that Drogba had been taken back at Chelsea so that they could sell Lukaku. All to do with financial fair play rules. I keep getting these things right and people still get annoyed at my info. I will not say where I get it from, but suffice it to say yet again. "smug mode!"

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - you did degsy...but no one likes a smart arse mate.. :)

I know Ed. But when you instinctively know something is true and no-one listens, it gets pretty frustrating!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i know mate..but thats the price us and nostradamus have to pay im afraid.. :)

Yeah, well tell us some more then, whose next? Your source must have told you as you get them all right, can't wait to find out. So who degsy who?

Agree0 Disagree0

Your a joker degs lol

You quoted the obvious Degsy , that's all mate. let's not get into this again eh. Most people with half a brain already knew because it was obvious.

Hey. I have been looking at this site for ages but finally decided to post after today's amazing news! WelcomehomeRom!

I have seen a few people post that we are weaker than we were at the end of last season and we need to bolster the squad in order to challange. I would still like us to sign a few more players, 1 more striker and another AM for me, but if the transfer window shut tomorrow I wouldn't be disappointed!

We have Kone, Gibson and Oviedo returning from injury, who are all experienced players.

Garbutt has looked decent in pre season and is a back up left back, we could also push Baines or Bryan forward in this position.

Pienaar was out towards the end of the season, and I think he will play an important part.

McGeady will have had a full pre season under his belt, and is already looking sharper.

I also think Shane Duffy, Conor McAleny, John Lundstram, Ryan Ledson and Matthew Kennedy will be part of Robertos plans this season.

Add to that the signing of Besic I think we have one of the healthiest squads I can remember us having!

COYB!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - good post that mate...and welcome aboard..

30 Jul 2014 21:41:48
Rom and RM say all the right things at the press conference. Bring on the season.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

30 Jul 2014 21:36:17
Hi Ed. Given my previous post about getting our big fish. I pose this question (not being negative)
Do you think we have overpaid for Rom or do you think sound investment?
Perhaps this maybe one better answered at end of season but I just hope we haven't put all our eggs in one basket.
Last thing we need is him to get injured.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - we have overpaid a bit imo AW, but he is a quality player who bobby was desperate for and bill made it happen, he was seen as a major piece of the jigsaw, and so you cant argue with the dynamic duo of bob and bill mate..

It depends on how you look at it we only questioning the price cause it smashes our record, but let's face it costa has only had one good season and we sold fellaini for 27m so no I think it's money well spent its first season where we have spent quite a bit as normally we recoup money spent by selling

Agree0 Disagree0

Like I said in a post weeks ago. high prices would be paid because of the extra TV money. In 2 seasons time, average players will be going for 50 million. 28 for him will seem a snip then!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - when you consider it was basically a straight swap for fellaini degs...we should be well happy mate..

Come on ed you have players like andy carrol going for 35 an borini going for 14 mccormic 13 then this kid has to be worth every penny we spent on him luke shaw silly money david luiz 50 mill. Whe will show everyone just how good he really is rm is building our team around him

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - im not knocking it shakey...im made up mate..

I am very excited by this buy if you look at the backbone of our team of youngsters stones McCarthy besic Oviedo Barkley lukaku Coleman mirallas the potential to build a great team around these players is massive and I think Martinez sees this not to mention some of our older players Baines jags Naismith Barry and others still plenty of years in them too promising youngsters also we will wins trophies soon under Martinez I'm sure of it and when we do I'll be sure to remind you all you heard it here first :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Just to add to the conversation who would you rather have lallana 25 million or lukaku 28 million nothing has been said about Liverpoo over paying for a player who has had one good season.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jul 2014 21:32:41
Lets just hope this season goes well for us and rom isn't a disaster signing or gets injured. Knowing our luck something always stuffs up.

My first post. Everton fan from Australia

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - cheer up mate!...toss another shrimp on the barbie, and down some amber nectar..we are going places mate..

Yes it is hard being an Evertion at times, Bruce. But as Ed025 says, "We are going in the right direction. In effect we have swapped Felliani for Lukaku. equal fees! I know who I would rather have!!

Just doing a reality check but.have we just signed Lukaka or is this about to be the cruellest of nightmares were I wake up and it all didn't happen?

While I'm here. we did get Barkley on a new contract as well didn't we?

I would say the wife is going to get it tonight but that would just be over the top!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - its all true john...but no need to spoil it by servicing the missus mate.. :)

30 Jul 2014 21:06:04
Hi Ed
Now that we have our big fish do you think others will now follow? If so do you think the Everton board are backing Bobby and if so who do you think we will go after to bolster squad further before season starts.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - obviously we have made a big dent in our wallet AW, but im still confident we will bring in a couple more, maybe not big time signings but players who will enhance the squad mate..

30 Jul 2014 21:01:22
Dont know about you Ed but I could sit and listen to Bobby all day, and well done Mr Kenwright for all the work you have put in to get this one over the line . Bill comes in for a lot of stick from certain sections of our support but you can't doubt his love for the club . We are in a stable position unlike a lot of other clubs and he deserves a lot of credit for that . COYB

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i love to hear bobby speaking as well mac, and i also think its about time bill got a bit of credit for the way the club is being run mate..

Nice one Rom on choosing the toffees.

Like many of us I hope there is still a surprise or two left up the sleeve of Roberto and Bill.
Its about time our line up sent shivers down sides spines as its announced.
Come on Everton let's do this. let's get us back where we belong.
Stuff Brenda, stuff Loui, stuff Poncho, stuff em all. we are Everton. Time to step it up!
No excuses.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

This can only happen at Everton, every other club get the job done.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i cant believe your moaning on a day like today dollo..

The point your missing Dollo is, juventus, and others that wanted him could of blown us out the water in fee and wages. Its a testament to our club and all the hard work bill and bobby have done to bring him here. got to make em feel loved and part of our football family.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry lads, it was the press conference at 7pm, then delayed because of paperwork. The club should have had that all sorted out when they announced a press conference at 5pm, that's all I was getting at. Over the moon with our new signing, I don't want new investors, Mr Kenwright is the right man for me.

I know we've signed Barry and probably Lukaku on a permanent basis but apart from Besic we don't seem to have significantly added to last season's team. I'm made up with what we have so far but really hope there's a few more coming in as well. COYB.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Give over Paddy mate. We have made a real statement of intent here. Since The Yak we have not had a bustling center forward in the style of Everton Football Club. Now we have!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

30 Jul 2014 18:22:19
I know most of us have been well and truly p****d off with all the speculation of the will he won't he sign and the chelsea mind games, but if we conclude this deal tonight at 7 as expected for a club record transfer you got to give bill and bobby great credit for pulling the deal off.To be honest we shouldn't of doubted it really with bobby saying "of course we will get him" when asked the question. Also ossie saying it would be great to have rom available for my testimonial on sunday, and Ian Atkins telling talk****e that rom has decided in his own mind he wants to go back to Everton. These things wouldn't of been said unless we were really confident of getting our man.So well done to the chairman for backing bobby all the way.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

30 Jul 2014 18:18:50

Believable0 Unbelievable0

30 Jul 2014 18:17:32
Think Bill's new nickname could be "the milkman"

There seems to be a whole different ethos around the club since Roberto has arrived!

Assuming we don't flog anyone and we get Lukaku, one or two more signing and we could be onto something here!

These are exciting times for us.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - the guy works his socks off for the club GB, and does not get the recognition his efforts deserve for me mate..

I agree with you, Ed025.
To read some of the posts, you'd think that negotiating transfers was a piece of cake and the club don't know what they're doing.
It's also easy for fans to tell BK how to spend money without having the responsibility for it.
I wonder how we'd all cope with the job (that's everything every day - not just the glamorous stuff we see on the surface) of running Everton football club.
I'm thankful that we have BK, RM and all the others working so hard for the good of Everton.

'I want a Champions League Team, I want a Champions League Team, I want a Champions League Team'
'I want that one.'
(Agent) 'But Luki you always stated that was below your expectations and indeed have always expressed your desire to play in the Champions League this year exulting the higher standards of the competition.'

COYB!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

30 Jul 2014 12:47:11
I know its only a number but Besic in Timmy's old number mmmm not happy. TC is a legend should have retired it along with No 8, No9, No1, No 6, No 5, No 3, errr ohhh yes we've a lot of legends afterall haven't we.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I don't agree with retiring numbers . After a while you have none left. If anything let's hope he can keep up the tradition of the number 17 shirt after Cahill

Agree0 Disagree0

Retiring numbers is something you do if a member of the playing staff at the time dies

Agree0 Disagree0

I also don't agree with retiring numbers.
The player who gets to wear a particular number after it has been worn by a great, long-serving player should imho do so with respect and look to emulate the performances of the former wearer.
So, anyone who, for instance, wears the number 9 shirt for Everton is following on from Dean and other great centre forwards (before and since) and should treat his custodianship of the number as an honour and a privilege.
A player's contribution is in people's memories and in the record books and retiring a shirt is just a gimmick that other sports (especially American) have introduced for marketing and PR reasons. (If I sound too cynical, so be it!)
Naming grounds, or stands, or gates, or awards after people is, I suggest, appropriate, as are statues or plaques or suchlike.
The best way to respect a former player would be to always warmly welcome them whenever they visit Everton and for the current team to show the same appetite and attitude and aptitude as the former player did in an Everton shirt.

Just a thought. but would anyone here take Christian Rodriguez from Atletico? Looks on his way out, could be gone on the cheap.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

30 Jul 2014 01:32:58
Seems to be a lot of noise tonight that Chelsea have priced us out of a deal for Lukaku. They want £30M and to be fair in the current climate - £30M for a left back - £26 Mil for Lallana, £16M for a 19 year old RB whos not played 20 first team games for a mid table club.

Who'd blame them we played the same game with Felli . just hope Rom is holding out to join us. COYB.

P.S in the long term Ross's contract could turn out to be the best piece of business of any summer window. He's just class. Can't wait to watch him tear it up this season.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Chelsea won't get £30m for Lukaku and they know it. They didn't pay much more than that for Diego Costa, who helped Atletico win La Liga and got them to the CL final.

I believe £30m is what they call a negotiating position. They demand £30m. We offer £24m. They say ok. Lukaku signs for Everton.

Agree0 Disagree0

Is it not a coincidence that Ross signs a new four year contract and Chelsea decide they want 30 million for Lukaku. Seeing as they've been sniffing around him.

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jul 2014 00:17:04
So this Summer, we've had Gaz Baz in on a Bossman, Besic's come in for 4 to 6 mil. Ross has signed an extension. We're looking at getting this Henen fella by end of the week (apparently), and Sam Byrne has also joined. That's 4 transfers and a very moral boosing bit of news with regards to Barkley. We all know RM intends to use some more youths this season, also he's stated he wants 3 attacking players, now my question is lads and ladies, who would you have as the 3 strikers to sign?

For me it'd be:

Lukaku (obvious choice) -24 mil
Vargas (from Napoli) - 10 mil
Jovetic (bad first season, but I reckon with a run of games he'd be decent) - loan.

What do you reckon blues? Whos coming in.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

30 Jul 2014 01:57:43
Well not jovetic, that's for sure

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jul 2014 02:17:34
I would love these three to happen bit I doubt we could get Vargas(who I really rate) and jovetic

Agree0 Disagree0

Id like to see Lacazette from Lyon up front for us. I think he would be a great signing, Thierry Henry type player. Supposedly Lyon insist he is not for sale. 10 mill was the figure being banded about. don't believe Lyon tho, everyone has a price. Oh and Lukaku too with Lacina Traore on loan.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd be happy just to get Lukaku in . I don't think some people realise just how big a signing/coup this would be. At 24 million it's daylight robbery compared to some prices being paid.
