Barry is not allowed to play under League rules. We will need a strong midfield on Saturday so think it will be Gibson, Osman and McCarthy. If Gibson not fit, then I fear Heitinga might play there. Help!

Agree0 Disagree0

I suspect Naismith will play instead of Deulofeu. I, personally, think he is the worst player to ever wear the Everton shirt, but both Martinez and Moyes seemed to like playing him against the bigger teams because he puts a shift in in defence.

Agree0 Disagree0

Come on AB. I, at 16 years of age, don't know how old you are but I can safely say there have been many players who are worse than Naisy but have still worn the shirt, seriously.

Moyes made some stellar signings but when he signed a flop, he signed a flop of the highest order.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with AB about naismith playing instead of deulofeu. And i'm not sure about gibson's form, if he's fit then ok, but I think Osman will start, and gibson will come in during the game.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'm 18, and have been going the games for about 10 years now, during which time I've seen some shockers, but Naismith takes first place for me.

Agree0 Disagree0

I defy anyone to suggest a worse performance than Glenn Keeley's in that 1982 0-5 home debacle against the darkside. Thankfully, his 30-or-so minutes in an Everton shirt before being sent off for hauling down Dalglish were all that we had to suffer.
(In his defence and to his credit, Glenn has worked with disadvantaged and disabled people in recent years, so obviously is a decent and caring human being.)

They reckon micheal owens dad was the worst everton player. my worst was rod bellamy who we got from Ipswich and gave them david Johnson plus a 100,000. tom efc

Agree0 Disagree0

Tom: I think his name was Rod Belfitt - and I agree we got the bad end of that deal.
BaronHardup

Agree0 Disagree0

Cheers your right I must have tried to wipe him from my memory tom efc

Agree0 Disagree0

What is your problem with Naismith? He isn't a world beater but he wins almost every header he goes up for, bombs up and down the wing all day and knows where the net is. World class? Obviously not. But worst player ever to wear the shirt? Your having an absolute laugh
Hank {Ed025's Note - im with you hank, not a world beater, but a good squad player who gives 100% every time he pulls on the shirt..

Agree0 Disagree0

Ian wilson, claus thomson, and per kroldrup were bad but the worst I've seen was probably brett angel.

I reckon that after watching naisy play for years(I am a rangers fan) he is best played behind a striker rather than as a winger. when he played for us he started out on the right but cause of the way we dominated most games he would end up as a 3rd striker a lot of the time. why not try him in the hole behind lukaku, he created plenty for jelly with us and lukaku is a far better player to finish them off. Just a thought

Naismith is coming back from2 injuries the same as arteta had in other words twice as bad. give him a break everyone in the game knows he was a good player as martinez as pointed out he will come good, perhaps were using him to early tom efc

Agree0 Disagree0

Using him too early? What does that mean? He's had 2 pre-season's with us, one full premiership campaign and a handful of games, but we're using him too early? Can't say I agree with that, it may be that we're using him in the wrong position but too early?, he's had plenty of time to get up to speed and adapt, though, by his own admission, he's a slow starter.
He works his nuts off for the team, fair play, he just doesn't seem to possess the necessary traits (touch, technique, vision etc) to succeed here in the premier league where it's a much faster pace than up north.
I hope he proves me wrong as Seamus did but I can't see him cutting it in this league, unfortunately. Shame, really as he seems a great bloke.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bakayoko?

Agree0 Disagree0

How as he had 2 pre seasons we only got him the end of last year.

Agree0 Disagree0

We signed Naismith on or around July 4th 2012, so he had most, if not all, pre season 2012.

Never won much in bookies so no expert but how do these odds today make sense?
To win Prem, Man City, Utd, Spurs all around 4/1
Liverpool 9/1
Us 100/1
Wont bet a fiver but bloody hell are we that far behind the likes of Pool and Spurs?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I hate to say it Mushy but the bookies are right more often than us punters. Top four for us maybe, but not champions. this year

Agree0 Disagree0

I know what mushy means though. Such a big difference especially when you think we have ended above the reds two seasons running.

Agree0 Disagree0

Each way at 100-1 is a decent bet.

Agree0 Disagree0

Considering you could get 500/1 for us at the start of the season means they have now thought otherwise

Agree0 Disagree0

We were 150 to 1 last weekshows there taking notice its nothing personal its abook and depends on money laid out which creats the odds I agree we are a good bet if we stay injuriesfree but that looks unlikly

Not posted for a while, 1st half was best I have seen in a long time but 2nd half has also shown us that teams can get at us if we start being to casual and when teams put us under pressure and chase us down. I hold my hands up to saying pre-season about Seamus I asked the question if there was certain players in the squad that are not so technical and may struggle under our new style of pass pass pass but he has improved his overall game I always liked him and backed him when he was playing right midfield but he needed to improve his defending before being a right back he did this last season when at times he would cover for the centre backs now he seems the full package as a right back and if he can add to his play in the final 3rd of the pitch by scoring more and crossing we maybe talking about a world class RB.
Distan was the best Frenchman on the pitch Monday.

A lot of people saying they want Del boy to start I don't think he is ready to start yet and yes he looks a threat every time he gets the ball but he needs a bit more discipline to defend ie capital one cup fulham free-kick. There is no doubt he is a fantastic player but just my opinion and think he will be more influential as a sub.

Ed I noticed you saying about Baines & Jags not looking comfortable in our system. I agree with you that neither had a great game on Monday but these are England internationals surely they are good enough adapt or is this a sign that English players are not good enough technically which explains the years of no success in international football.( In general before everyone says about Ross)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

IMO I think jags may just have had an off day. Baines on the other hand may have tempered his forward movement as I don't think he is totally comfortable with super kev's defensive qualities and therefore plays with a more cautious approach which we are not used to seeing. Seamus on the other hand bombs forward more and relies on his pace to get himself back into defensive postitions hence the two contrasting styles dependent on which flank Kev is on. I do nt really see this as an issue with the style of play just getting comfortable with players in the system used. I think if peanuts is back in teh team we may see more of Baines going forward with the style we have become used to over the last couple of seasons.
My starting line up for if all fit would be:
Howard
Coleman Jags Distin Baines
Mccarthy Barry
Kev Barclay Peanuts
Lukaku

Bench:
Ossie
Gibson
Stones
Robles
Del Boy
Kone
Jellyman

I am just wondering on Saturday if Roberto with his tactical skills will change to 5 at the back against City I don't think we will play all season with our current system and every now and then he will change it to suprise the opposition and being away to them may just be the time. Roberto has won over city in the cup and we have a v good record against them but we all know football is not straight forward like this. I would take a 0-0 draw Saturday.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think that wouldn't be a bad call, playing a 3-4-3/ 5-2-3. Worked very well against Juve, so why not agains City? Then again, who would be the 3rd centre back? He doesn't seem to trust Heitinga (thank. God.) and I doubt he'd throw Stones into such a big game (the Juve one was a friendly, so that's different). I suspect we'll just see the same set up as previous games, but with Naismith and Gibbo coming in for Ossie and Barry.

So Suarez is back with a brace? If only he'd have got one 20 years ago, he wouldn't resemble Shergar now!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Hehheyy, nice one!

Agree0 Disagree0

If he grew a tash he would resemble Freddie Mercury

Agree0 Disagree0

But Freddie Mercury got to sing "We are the champions". {Ed025's Note - love it mate..
