Use our rumours form to send us everton transfer rumours.

Depending on how much money we have to spend in the summer, which will presumably be around the £30-40m range given the players that we've sold in recent windows, I'd personally hope for us to go for these players:

Ki Sung-Yeung (Swansea) - £7m
Gareth Barry - Free Transfer
Christian Benteke (Aston Villa) - £15m
Gerard Deulofeu (Barcelona) - Loan
Jack Colback - Free Transfer
Bruno Martins Indi - £5m

I think these transfers would give us sufficient cover and depth in the squad if we're going to be competing in the Europa League, which at the moment is looking very likely. This would also involve the offloading of the squad's deadwood such as; Vellios, Gueye, Duffy and Francisco.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I would be shocked if Villa sell Benteke for anything less than £25M

Agree0 Disagree0

These are all on my list as well except for benteke who I think would be big money.
I would take Bony and I think we would get him as well.

it was like a morgue yesterday at goodison.we really need to get behind the team and not just sit there waiting for it to happen. our support will be in full voice next week and I hope it helps to pull off a big result but we need to be doing it home as well
why has it gone so quiet at goodison?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - It's not just at Goodison Willo, it's at all grounds now I think. Stadiums are filled with customers who sit there with their half & half scarves tweeting or taking pictures rather than actual supporters who are there to back the team.}

02 Mar 2014 22:26:57
The same 5-10 thousand supporters who go to away matches go to the home games, just they sit in various places around the ground so its hard to get a few songs going. I would propose if we either move to a new ground or upgrade goodison that we have 1 or 2 singing stands or enclosures which would be subsidised in cost compared to the rest of the stadium (largely would be season ticket holders). We could even 'employ' a supporter with a megaphone to start chants off. Have seen this employed at both monaco and bordeaux and it works so well, to the extent where each stand at either ends of the ground sing the chants to eachother. A truely memorable experience.

Agree0 Disagree0

I don't think we have as many of the half and half fans as the "top 4" clubs, but there has certainly been an increase. Part of the problem is that the crowd need something to get them going. and a goal usually helps. Tense nil nil scorelines always create silence. When the goal finally came on Saturday, the crowd livened up.

Agree0 Disagree0

I would agree with Degsy. It was a stressful game in my opinion, not only waiting and willing blues to score but the last few minutes with free kicks, Etc. I was just dreading Carrol scoring.

Hi everyone looking forward to the QF next weekend as was just wondering what thoughts you had on our result yesterday.

Does the fact we were so poor encourage you even more to believe you will beat us or do you think it will makes us more determined and make your job a bit more difficult?
Let's face it in the league game at our place you more than matched us so you must have high hopes anyway, but just wanted your thoughts on us?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Who knows m8.depends who turns up on the day.when we play well we can match anyone but also if you lot are up for it its going to be a very hard game for us.should be a good game whatever happens.

I expect youse to win, but we aee guaranteed chancea against you, I happen to think mertesacker to be dreadful, countless times this season I've seen him out of position just walking back while you defend a counter attack, koscielny does all the work, I think monreal is a liability as is sagna, arteta has fkuffed against barkley the last 2 times they have met and yaya sanogo is like bambi on ice, one of the worst first touches I've ever seen, schzezny has a mistake in him, I do like flamini, the ox and rosicky, think they are underrated while the rest of yoyr midfield especially wilshere is extremely overrated, your manager and team make excuses if a team gets physical against you to deny your style of play, jack wilshere is a sh*thouse who infuriates me when I watch him, goes around barging into pienaar and mirallas, sh@t one when he saw barkley and distin tackle him, despite all this, our players will bottle it and we will lose 3-0, just hope city go on to win it then, your fans are about as loud as the spuds, your large following of these rich teens on youtube who play fifa and know as much about real football than the makers of the game itself, your midfield consists of a lazy german playmaker, a spanish playmaker who cuts in on his left foot, hits it straight at the keeper and the crowd goes wild, both very lazy and overrated, another spaniard who is a diver (like cazorla) who attempted to get gibbo sent off last season through his horrible ways, a 33 year old who I like, flamini and jack lambert and butler wilshere, who I have already pointed out as immature and someone I strongly dislike, you have a right winger named theo walcott who is about as talented as my index and middle finger are when I have company, bambi on ice up front and a frenchman who cheats on his missus, so have we, but it was funny for us because she believed he was a milkman, giroud has no comeback, a manager who youd think was blind the amount of times he says 'i didn't see it', his coats too big and he moans if his team get toughed up, a big experienced centre back with no pace who has taken credit for his partners work for a while now (like rio ferdinand) oh and yeppp there is my thoughts on arsenal and their uninterested fans, but again I think you will beat us so when it happens you can think 'he told me so', goodnight!

Agree0 Disagree0

Thank you Dentielad its got the makings of a good game and if you beat us I genuinely hope you win it mate,
And thank you Swan for that in depth brutally honest view on us :-), a bit more than I expected to be honest :-):-)

Agree0 Disagree0

I believe it has got the capability to be one of the best games this season as both teams like to attack and also play nice free flowing football whilst mainting a physical presence. If I was to make a prediction, I would say Arsenal, because of the home advantage but it will be a closely competed match in my opinion. I feel people are being a bit harsh on Arsenal of late, especially Mertesaker(spelling) who has been outstanding for the majority of the season. I also would like Arsenal to win it if your lot knock us out. Good luck mate.

Obviously, Everton has 3 areas, where change is desperately needed. The Stadium, The Squad depth/Quality of depth and the globalization of the Club brand (ie popularity).

With regards to the popularity of the club, we cannot do too much about that as we don't compete at the highest levels. With investment we could. With regards to the Stadium, this also comes down to the fact that we have a lack of investment. But the quality/depth of out squad is something that we can have a look at.

As we all know, Everton fc's youth programme is one of the best in the world. our scout network and talent spotting is astute and because of this, we has signed youngsters even when competing against the likes of the big 4. But for me there is one underlining problem with our youth set up. Its our Loaning out policy.

I was on the Wpedia page for Efc and saw that we had 3 players put out on loan (lundstrum, Francisco, and Duffy). I then went to the Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal pages. I was surprised to see such big names in the reserves section for Liverpool and Chelsea (Arsenal not so much). Liverpool have about 7 players on loan in their squad playing football in the top flight of which ever country they have been sent to. And they are playing regularly, with the likes of Assiaidi and Borini (whos playing in a cup final today) really become key players within the team. Chelsea as well, have a few players in the premier division of the countries they are playing in, and are getting first team football (look at Lukaku). Fair enough, some of these players were not developed by their parent clubs, and were bought and then loaned out, but a fair few are getting regular team football, at high quality clubs, just coming out of the acadamy.

Lundstrum and Duffy are playing for Yeovil in the Championship, and Francisco is playing in Norway and initially Holland (and hasn't has a game)! Fair enough these are respectable teams, but all our loaned players are doing is learning to play competitive football, and in my opinion, not getting challenged enough. I cannot remember the last time we had a Player loaned out to a club in a high league, and be so instrumental in the success of the club during that season. Lundstrum is supposedly (never seen him play) a very good prospect, and if so, why is he in a relegation battle? I seriously think, that in order to develop a player (WHO IS OF THE AGE, IE 20+) away from his parent club, you need to send him to a club with similar tactics, and a decent enough opposition. This being said, if he doesn't have the quality to go out on loan to such a team, then he shouldn't go out on loan yet, and in some cases, we shouldn't have him in the squad.

Vellios, Gueye and Garbutt are all the same sorts of age as Lundstrum, Duffy and Cisco, and they've not seen a ball all season. I know Vellios is being an person by declining a loan, but the other two should be out there in the Championship (for a top 10 club) or Ligue 1 (Gueye speaks French?) for a decent team, and plying their trade. Barkley, is the last player I remember who's gone ahead and played for a half decent side (leeds? Sort of I guess). And if our players are going on loan, we should keep them there. why was Shane Long, Matthew Kennedy and Hallam Hope re-called?

The younger loans should be allowed to go to lower clubs, because its experience (Hope[19] to Northhampton), But these players that are in and around our first team, but are still not getting a sniff, need to be given to a feeder club.

Thats me done for the day. :)

.well there we go folks. man sitteh have won the cup which means that 6th place will now become a Europa cup place if the current winners have already qualified for the champions league which I'm sure man sitteh will. happy days then. ours to lose then now, we should be playing European football of some sort then even if we finish sixth!! C.o.y.b. :-D

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Would not want to be in the Europa cup with the present squad, we would never cope our squad is far too small, we would need significant investment, your views please Ed, GuernseyBlue

Well after Man City winning the final today, That puts us in Europe as the league stands. Not a disaster IMO. Maybe the Europa is not everyone's cup of tea, but is really enjoyed it when we were in it. Might stand a better chance of progressing further with our more European style of play. Just need To make sure we Look above us and not over our shoulder.

From the comments on motd when martinez was questioned about european football by lineker it sounded to me like he was going to blood our youth set up if we get into the europa league. Maybe a even match of core 1st team with the youth team would be a good combination to allow our squad depth to cope on both fronts of europe, league and english cups.

Does city win mean 5th and 6th places now go for Europa? (if city get top 4)

Plus if arsenal or city win FA cup then it would go down to 7th? Or do losing fa cup finalists take it?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The loseing fa cup finalists take it the rule come in the year after we lost to chelsea typical

Agree0 Disagree0

Yes 5th and 6th now go through. if the fa cup winners are also from top 6 then runners up will go through also if runners up are already from top six then 7th will qualify

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Mar 2014 17:26:03
it goes to losing finalist unless the losing finalist is also qualified for champs league, it then goes to league.

Agree0 Disagree0

So if we get knocked out we need to hope that man city and arsenal don't draw each other in the semis

Agree0 Disagree0

Do we really want the Thursday/Sunday schedule that comes with the UEFA Europa League? I imagine that if we do qualify, then RM will use the European matches to give our young players experience in the first team - because they're not ready to step up to the Premier League - and keep the first choice players as fresh as possibly for domestic league matches. We don't have enough experienced players in depth in the squad to have too much other rotation. Take into account injuries, suspensions, loss of form, etc., and our small squad has proved to be stretched to the limit.

Agree0 Disagree0

Personally i'd love it my job makes it impossible for me to get to games on Saturdays so Sunday games would mean a season ticket for me :)

Agree0 Disagree0

Does the winner of next season's Europa league not get a champios league spot for the following season? I heard that was on the agenda to make it more attractive.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Yes.}

For the Capita One Cup, it won't go to the runners-up, if the winners already have european football, but instead to 6th place. It is the FA, in which that happens.

The stats are there whatever you all say. An average of a goal a game without Lukaku. We replaced Felli with McCarthy and Barry. Before you all have a go at me, I prefer both as getting it on the ground footballers.but no-one can deny that Felli did contribute goals and these two do not. When or if Lukaku goes back or elsewhere, we will be missing his goals as well.at the moment that looks at being about 15 to 20 per season. He is only 20 years old, so should improve. Either way, we need to either get him signed or get other players in who can score goals. All this possession is great, but we are not killing teams off.and without those Lukaku goals (like yesterdays and other times this season) we will struggle even more. The only other proven goalscorer in the squad is Mirallas. This has happened for 2 seasons now where we have played great football but not killed teams off. We will be about 25 goals down if you consider Felli's and Lukaku's goals together. (and yes I know they never played in the same team). Go on, have a go at me for pointing out what is blatantly obvious to me.
Degsypulford

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Yes it is obvious but if lukaku goes we won't be down 20 goals per season because we will buy another (or I think 2) strikers in the summer, who will be getting the goals instead of lukaku, when moyes left and roberto took over we all thought it would be a mid table struggle, this has been a season to build on so whatever happens we can be happy, we will buy again in the summer and improve again next season, onwards and upwards. coyb

Agree0 Disagree0

Degs I'm sure there is plans to either buy lukaku or another st and hopefully one or two more this summer Gibson and Oviedo back hopefully hold on to deulofeu again and I think we b lookin pretty strong for next season we also have some promising youngsters coming through

Agree0 Disagree0

Oh and I am not trying to be gloom and doom.just still trying to explain what I mean and believe. Statistics cannot be ignored. Unless we sign a 20 plus goals a season player (Lukaku or another, we are going to be down on goals next season.

Agree0 Disagree0

The lack of a proven 20+ striker has been our problem fpr years, not just now or next season

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah, I am sure we are tring to sign Lukaku as well as having contingency plans. Please believe me when I say I love the way we are playing and especially across the back. It has been an England problem for years that we teach our kids to hoof it out of defence when every other successful country teaches their defenders to play the ball rather than hoof it. I put a post on a couple of times which may have come across totally negative. I was just trying to say that losing 2 players who between them contributed 25 goals average per season, there has to be a real other plan. This added to players retiring and loanees going back really scares me. Anyway, I am repeating myself now and I think most of you are seeing where I am coming from. One last point is I think it will be at least 2 seasons before Deulofeou is a 20 goal or even a 10 goal a season player. He is too naive as yet. Runs into defenders all the time and loses possession. I live in Devon now so hardly get up at all for games. I hope those of you who are watching kids coming through are right. It sounds like we have one or two gems about to shine.

Not blue related, but I seriously hope the FA throw the book at Pardew the self centered smug botox faced pr*ck.Even better the FA should turn there back on him and hope someone reports the incident to the police resulting in pardew being charged and jailed, just like the scottish FA did to big Duncan when he was charged and ended up in clink.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agreed. The man comes over as a relatively intelligent human being.yet behaves like a thug on the side of a football pitch. Has previous when it comes to the likes of this, but he has risen to another level here.

Agree0 Disagree0

I hope he goes, Pardew occupies the position of Newcastle manager that the great Sir Bobby was once in, and it was absolutely disgraceful what he did yesterday.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sir Bobby was a one off. I liked you guys singing at his testimonial a few years back. I only saw on TV but was singing with you. "There's only one Bobby Robson". etc
