I hope Mr Brands is already talking to Barcelona about Gomes, once again he was man of the match and that is saying something against the quality that Liverpool have. I would be surprised if talks are not happening because one thing is for sure the big European Clubs will be sniffing around. The other hope (big ask) is that we have identified a Striker/ Target man so that Richarlison can go back out on the wing.

He is a must. Best creative midfielder we had since arteta, maybe better than him tbh.

Thought we played well but same old Everton AGAIN as my nan always used to say Everton always get beat . I do feel for Pickford thought he played well up till then 😫.

I disagree, that team today wasn't the same old Everton mate that was an improving Everton team who gave us a bloody good go.

{Ed025's Note - dead right salah mate..

I've said it numerous times how Richarlison needs to stay on his feet more and not look to go down all the time. It really gets on my nerves. Lookman came on and made more of an impact than Walcott did for me. He needs to be starting. Our best player for me was Andre Gomes (I celebrated that header as well albeit prematurely) . He has been quality and I would like us to sign him permanently if at all possible.

Now to the end of the game. It may have been an error from Pickford (which he was quick to acknowledge in the game) that led to the winning goal but I'm not putting all the blame on him. Yes I was devastated at the way we lost the point but you can also debate about our poor finishing which is what also cost us. If we took our chances then we'd be the ones celebrating. We gave a really good performance and it was a tight game. It shows how far we've come in so little time under Silva.

{Ed025's Note - very much so howie..

03 Dec 2018 09:55:28
IMO Wallcotts defensive side of the game is better that Lookmans so at the moment i'm with Silva keep Lookman on the bench until the opposition have tired then let him loose. Once he has improved defensively then we will no doubt see him start.

personally love how snide richarlison is, we've been crying out for someone like him for years. someone with that personality that everyone hates, a cockiness to wind opposition and fans up, a lot like suarez did.

Thank you Mr Silva for restoring "the derby". cannot remember the last time I watched a derby from start to finish without wanting to go and put my head in the oven.
Forget the result as it was one unbelievable individual error but the performance was immense and shows how far we've come in such a short space of time.
Even enjoyed Klopps "invasion" as it underlines the passion. also a big compliment as I can't recall any other one of their managers so excited to beat us. he said we are the best he's seen and he is right.
Lookman to start and 6 points by next Monday night and things will really start to get exciting!

Said this on live chat and will be unpopular but Richarlison is starting to embarace is. Constatly diving and not backing it up with a performance. I can't say anything he did in 90 mins. Diving is not the Everton way and I was ashamed of him. He should be playing on left wing (must admit Bernard played well) .
Imagine sharpe Ferguson gray liniker Campbell heath Beardsley diving like that (not for me) - great player - someone at club needs to tell him to pack it in ( hopefully big Dunc) .

Great performance today however - bring in Watford and Newcastle at the old lady

I would play Toson up front - Richarlison on left and lookman on right. I think lookman will start in place of Walcott next game

COYB.

We were the better team.
It's only 6 months into his reign and already we have performed better at these games against the top rubbish. It is coming and it will be glorious. Take heart from today's game and think back to what we made them do.
A mistake is a mistake. End of.
We controlled large parts of that game and we haven't done that at hell for a long time.
Same at Chelsea. These were games we lost 4 or 5 0.
Relax and take the positives. We are back. We will conquer. We are Everton.

Still only one point from Arsenal Chelsea Man Utd and Arsenal though. 11 points dropped. Mind you if we had beat West Ham, Bornmouth and Wolves we would have been in top 4. Need to get points from teams above - we have a shocking record and can’t keep blaming bad livk.

02 Dec 2018 20:45:40
Bit of a gutting end today but we’ve already looked so much better against those teams than past years, we’ve actually looked like we’re just as good as them and unlucky not to come away with anything, last few seasons we’d have been routed 4-0. Things are going in the right direction. It’s also worth noting we’ve only played these teams away so far. See what happens when they come to our turf.

It's 5.30 in the morning and I have just called in Sick. Like all Evertonians we are broken hearted. Of all the team's to do that to us, its them. That is the dagger of all daggers. My hate for them is now just beyond hate! Not sure what Pickford was thinking, but I'm sure he is feeling worse than we all are, however its only 1 point we lose and not a Champions League Final. But Everton and Marco Silva, we now know we can match it with these team's. I'm proud the way we played, however I can't get that sight out of my mind of all those red smirks.

Wanted to come on here and say you boys gave us a game and a half, probably the best performance from an Everton side I’ve seen against us (even when you’ve beaten us) . Really unlucky from your point of view but would be lying if I said I wasn’t buzzing.
Marco is building something over there and it will be a really tough game in the reverse fixture. A draw would have been a fair result as you had some huge chances, can see Richarlison becoming an absolute hero for you, and a villain for us in the derbies. But with Utd off the boil I think you have a huge shot at top 6.

It was a good game. I told myself it was the performance that mattered and I think our performance shows how far we have come. It's the nature of the goal that upsets me, I'm so angry at Pickford. What was he thinking? Just undone all the hard work. That's goalkeepers bread and butter. help over the bar if in doubt and leave it if it's safe. Pickford chooses the 3rd option 🤡.

One mistake and they made us pay for it. He won't do that again. What did you think of the game today Eds your all quiet.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Unusually for me I watched most of it. I thought that Everton put up a good show and that is no way to lose a game, but if you are going to lose a derby, that is a great way to go. I think Liverpool were a little off colour and I thought the referee did just fine and could easily have ended up sending folks off if he were over exhuberent at the start. Everton played well but I still feel this left sided imbalance is wrong - my gut says 3-1 at the front with a striker, then Richarlison, Bernard and another on the right behind would get better results. Silva is doing OK but I fear the journeyman issue kicking in again, but for now - Ecverton are not good enough for the top five but should be good wnough to fend off those bihind them. Liverpool are not good enough to win the league but will make the top four. An early Everton goal would have made an intriguing game - an early Liverpool goal would have seen a 4-0 result - that is the real gap to me. No points, but no screaming tomorrow afternoon when analysed. I hope this helps.}

02 Dec 2018 20:32:26
Pickford has been amazing, the best young British Keeper I have seen in my 36 years on this planet. We all make mistakes, it is just his hurt a lot of people. He will learn from it, maybe over confidence had a small part. He has taken risks with us and playing for England and got away with it but it is part of human nature. He has saved 2 penalties this season, he will have been feeling indestructible but this will hurt him more than anyone else. Get behind him he is a legend on the making, this is just a painful bump along the way.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - There is no doubt he is a very good goalkeeper - but to be honest that was a bollock he dropped on the cross bar tonight. It doesn't matter though.}

02 Dec 2018 20:55:11
Thanks Ed but it's still painfull the way that goal went in.

To be fair and honest GB we gave them a good game but did not outplay them. They are a very good side. Had that been last season they would have mullered us. As you say this fella (Silva) is forming them into a very good side.

Not going to blame the lad, still a lot to learn, still one of the best around. As you say hard to take. Son in Law just sent me a video of my Grand Daughter (2 years old) running round the room screaming and shouting gooooaaaallll. At least she was happy. LOL.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Dec 2018 18:35:28
Think the lad Richarlison should go back out wide where he can do a lot of damage. For that though we need someone to lead the line, with Gomez playing the way he is at the moment and Sigurdson to, why not give Tosun a go. That was a good test and we gave one of the best Teams in the Prem a good game and it was a good game if not a good result for us.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Actually this is a great point - the problem arises when you overstock in one position with good players and the only way to give them all a go is to play them out of position.}

02 Dec 2018 19:08:51
Agree. Best wingers Richarlison and lookman. Best forward is Toson - don’t fit them in to places they should not be.

Played really well today didn't deserve that. However took the game to them and another really good performance following on from Arsenal Utd and Chelsea. Before people say it's only 1 point from 12 it's the performance and how we TRIED to win the game that matters. I remember people criticising Marco after 5 games. Have always said judge us AFTER Christmas.

We will reverse these results against the so called big teams when we play them at home. People are sitting up and taking notice of us and so they should be. We're playing great attacking football with a fantastic young manager. My sadness tonight is outweighed by the excitement I feel knowing my team is back even Kopites are admitting (However grudgingly) Pessimism is an Evertonians default setting, but I'm telling you good times ARE coming.

we did, in football u get what u deserve and we didn't deserve to win because we didn't score our numerous chances, yes it was fluke goal but they got in the position to score, where wer r defenders? y was origi completely unmarked? what was pickford doing? sloppy defending and poor finishing cost us that match am sorry but this oh they always get lucky crap doesn't wash anymore they make there own luck by getting in the positions.

The team didn't deserve that. No matter what you say Johny, they didn't deserve that. There should not have been a threat like that at the moment.

02 Dec 2018 20:33:15
they should have defended the goal better end of mate so they got punished, luck has no place in sport.

{Ed002's Note - That is a dangerous thing to say Johny.}

02 Dec 2018 20:59:06
its the truth ed we played well but got nothing because we didn't score and we conceded 1, there is nothing lucky about it, pickford should have dealt with it and the defence shouldn't have switched off.
