So lukaku said he would stay at everton if we qualify for the champions leAgue now that has to be a kick up the arse to the board and the players because we all know how good he could be he's not the finished article yet far from it but fair play 7 goals in 8 games is not bad while your still adapting to style of play new manager and players and on the up side too in June he will have 1 year remaining on his contract so his price will only decrease. What's your thoughts eds

Thanks wasy

Signed a five year contract in summer of 2011, so does not expire until 2016. If Everton qualified for champions league then they would be seen as major threat to Chelsea, so they would never sell a top player to a main challenger.

I say don't give up before trying. It is known as having ambition.
If Baines goes we get cash. We already have a bit of cash left over from last window. I assume we will have more from possible other sales. He will cost a bomb but not only has he said he would consider signing, Mourinho has been slagging him off for missing that penalty for Chelsea. There is obviously a bit of back stabbing going on and Mourinho is clever at winding up players, but this one may just backfire on him.

Well said Degsy.

I reckon we should give Jelavic a start tomorrow I think if he gets a goal he could score maybe 20 this season he's too good for the bench.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

He's not. He's lucky to even make the bench. If be extremely happy to get 1m+ in January

To original poster, there's no way you are playing tomorrow and you are not too good for the bench :P

Realistically we have little money in Jan and instead of holding out for Lukaku I think we should sell Baines - bring through Oviedo (Garbutt being understudy next year) and looking at the possibility of signing a top quality CF I believe in our price range from over seas could be Vagner Live, Cardozo, Lima, Douglas Costa, Liedson I reckon any of them would come to aneurope chasing team for around 12 million

so sell baines and after everyone moaning about kone's age you want us to sign oldies? liedson is 35 and 36 in about 18 days, wow, thank god you're not out manager

Oviedo has shown bits of good football but he's not even close to playing at baines level

To last poster, I'd go to say Oviedo has more ability than Baines and could far exceed his level. We are talking about a seasoned International who played a key role in his nation going to the world cup. Baines has actually had an average season. Coleman has outshone him on the other flank. The fact he hasn't come out and said he wants to stay and sign a new contract irks me. It means he actually wants out, and worse he wants to follow miserable Moyes. I love Baines but I don't like fact he has this image of being a blue through and through. He is not blue through and through and that will be proved when he doesn't sign a new contract and he forces a move in jan or next summer

So RM has come out and said that Baines is not leaving in January so can we all stop talking like he has already been sold.

Solution to selling jonny heitinga. Give him a new contract with a 1mill release clause that runs til the day before jan deadline day. Then on deadline day moyes can come in with a 10mill bid and hey presto, jonny is gone.all said in good fun before people start saying i'm deluded and it'll never happen.i know it won't happen as moyes would only go up to 9 mill ;-)

Two must win games coming up especially the one at Old Trafford next week. I hope that Oviedo is given a chance at LB as its clear that we need to keep Gareth Barry in central midfield. What does anyone else feel?

{Ed025's Note - two hard games them davey, stoke are very hard to break down, and united are always tough, 4 points would be great for me..

Personally I would happily sell Baines if it meant we could sign Lukaku, If not him then someone of a high calibre to make ourselves heard - who else would put a cheeky bid in for Demba Ba? No game time and knows the net

but selling baines does not mean we will sign lukaku and demba ba is woeful, isn't he 29? people moan about kone's age

Just read on tv website Lukaku wouldn't be opposed to signing for us if we made the Champs League not sure where the money would come from though

Most poeple seem to want a striker which I agree is a mist but what about the left back position, can't assume oviedo is going to cut the mustard striaght away it took baines a couple years before he was number 1

Agree0 Disagree0

Lukaku prob knows its a tough task for us so he's keeping it happy while not selling himself short
