Any truth in the stories I've read about Lukaku signed for £24 mil??????

Believable0 Unbelievable0

29 Jul 2014 22:59:10
As we can't divulge our sources, the 'relective' newspaper reports chelsea set Rom's pricetag at £30 million. We were willing to go to £24 million. Make of that what you will guys

Apparently West Ham and QPR are after Valbuena. Would cost £7m and about 70k a week. Can't believe we're not looking at the little fella, he's magic. He could probably run between Mertesackers legs without ducking but Pienaar and Ossie aren't much bigger so won't hold that against him!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Was only thinkin of him before. I was sure he would go to a CL club. but if that doesn happen we should move now. don't be surprised if he ends up at spurs though as people seem to wanna live in london and spurs have collected midfielders for a while now

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jul 2014 00:05:05
Think it tells a lot that only west ham and qpr are after him

30 Jul 2014 02:20:18
I'm guessing you didn't Watch any of France at this years world cup swan? Valbuena was very good

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jul 2014 05:05:10
I did and he was very impressive but he's 29 (30 in a few weeks) and no one else but qpr and west ham are after him? Plus on that much? No tar, he is another classic example of player hype after a world cup, speaks volumes that not one good team have been linked, 7m? 70k a week? 2 year deal i'm guessing? For what? 3 games against inferior opposition? There is clearly better out there for cheaper, pass

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jul 2014 07:53:09
He's 29 not 39. Same age as Baines, and plays a much less energetic role. I reckon he would slot right in. Holds the ball up well, could play across front three and has that final ball we've been missing.

I would personally not be too disappointed if lukaku was our only permanent signing from here on in. I would like to see us utilise the loan system and maybe take 3 attacking players in on loan with one of those being an attacking wide player. And also the promotion of the likes of garbutt and browning. The loan system can really work for us as it gives us the opportunity to kick on like last last year but if we were to fail to qualify for europe next year we are not comitted to those players wages as they can simply return to the parent club and we can reduce our squad numbers accordingly. Looking at the youth players we have I think we can really aim to promote 2 players a year to the full squad especially under robertos plans.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - good post that sean..

Apparently Booby has said he is working on deals for three attacking players. which is good to know as we need them

Lets hope it doesn't go tits up

Which by the day is looking more likely

When big Rom signs on Friday we will still be light on players. Same size squad as last year (Delboy gone and Besic in). Maybe Kone and Gibson will help but there will be other injuries. I am guessing that with Bills Money going to Rom transfer RM will have to look at players on the cheap or on lone to bolster the increased number of fixtures. Any idea on who he may be looking to bring in?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - atsu is being looked at, and also sakho of metz, i expect that the beefing up of the squad will not be sorted until near the deadline date, when teams squads have been finalised and players who are surplus to requirement can be picked up on the cheap fusion..

29 Jul 2014 17:23:12
Ronaldiniho is a free agent who would take him on a pay as you play? He could be a good impact sub and teach the younger more skillful players to just go out and try something special

Believable0 Unbelievable0

29 Jul 2014 18:53:26
Surely we are past this as a club now? Ginola Gascoine, Ok ronnie is ( has?) been world class but the before mentioned was in there day. Young talent all the way for me please Roberto!

29 Jul 2014 19:44:30
haha

Im with u quinny I said this not long ago if his pay is low enough I would be happy for him to come

Id take him in a heart beat. Just to get his name on the shirt. Now that would be cool.

Anybody out there remember the days of Harry Catterick (in the days when we could outbid anyone). We never announced who we were buying until the deal was done. Billy Bingham was the same - the first I knew about Latchford was buying the paper the morning after, Howard Kendal was similar (1st Spell).
Unlike some for whom the oxygen of publicity is needed Everton have always tried to do their business in an ethical way. I'm sure there is more positive news on the way.

29 Jul 2014 18:55:52
I would like to hope we still conducted our transfers this way GSTB but in the day that the media is King I think any club would find it hard to hide/ conceal any business these days! one thing is for sure though mate, we are a class above the rest! IMWT COYB

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i would like to think so big mac..

No real agent factor in Harry's day.

Agree0 Disagree0

Plus the fact that the Littlewoods money via John Moores meant that we could (and often did) outbid other clubs when it came to transfer dealings.

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jul 2014 17:37:25
Good to see another one of our young players sign an extended contract. Now do likewise with McCarthy and Stones. In the meantime, push through those transfers for the extra players we need in the first team squad for next season. And not forgetting to give the U-21 and U-18 players - including those being brought in from outside - every opportunity to impress and progress to the first team.
Don't you just love it when a plan (especially an RM plan) comes together?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

29 Jul 2014 16:43:02
Well, well, Ross signs a new 4 year contract other than a confirmation of Lukaku signing that's the best news I could have got today we must have some serious plans ahead to get him to commit for 4 years (at least I hope we do!) Things are looking up :)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Tv also seem to think were getting closer to to getting lukaku on a permanent mate not sure how reliable the so called sources are but I would be buzzin if it was true. then if we can get atsu on loan weeks before transfer deadline day that would be a great window so far IMWT

Agree0 Disagree0

Should now stop all the Ross to Chelski or Man city rubbish!

Been waiting over 35 minutes for Roberto Martinez press conference. Knobhead on ssn asking the same questions time and time again to Southamptons Chairman. If it'd been Van Garl or Brenda giving a conference, they would have cut the Southampton fella dead.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

29 Jul 2014 16:30:19
4 year deal for Ross. God I love Bobby.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

29 Jul 2014 16:30:02
I'm not really that bothered about Barkley signing a new contract as contracts don't mean that much these days, however all our talented youngsters are happy to stay for now which reflects how happy they are under Martinez.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

It does when bids come in otherwise you won't get top dollar if not much remaining on contract, a players value depends on contract length

Agree0 Disagree0

The key for me is that Barkley wants to stay. Bodes well for the future.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i agree revs..

29 Jul 2014 16:29:12
Just watched the press conference and I'm absolutely made up that Barkley has signed but I can't help feel a little bit disappointed that it was the only thing to be announced? Was hoping for a signing or stadium talk, everton didn't call a press conference for Martinez or Coleman extending contracts so Obvisouly I was expecting something else! But it's good news so onwards and upwards lukaku next please :-)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

29 Jul 2014 16:26:00
We must be the only team to say we have a big announcement get every one excited an to tell us we have sighed a player we already had under contract we all no they meen nothin nowadays its great being. Everton fan Still great to see Barkley wants to stay just expected a new sighing :(

29 Jul 2014 16:25:33
Fell sorry for Ross as he's such a young lad he seems really frightened by the cameras and the press hounding him, he's clearly a very nervous lad, great to see him sign a new 4 year contract but he needs to learn how to deal with the cameras, being such a promising footballer will mean press will want interviews and I think he just needs a bit of guidance from someone like jags or ossie on how to deal with the press

Believable0 Unbelievable0

29 Jul 2014 17:11:00
To be fair mate, he is getting better the more interviews he does. All young players suffer from nerves in front of the camera, remember Rooney when he signed his first contract? It's about experience really, getting used to the pressure of talking in to the camera. 99% of us would be the same in that situation

At 4.00 Press Conference at Finch Farm

Roberto announces that Ross Barkley has just signed a new 4 year contract. Good news and let's keep the good news coming!

Am really excited to see besic play, am I the nly one who thinks he looks utterly evil aswell, serial killer written all over his face haha, he looks class though aswell calm on the ball not afraid to run with it if there isn't a pass on aand if he sees a long pass he can ping it to your foot, marvelous bit of business by the blues

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Im I the only one that thinks he's prob average but because were desperate for a new face we have made more of it, don't get me wrong I hope he does good but you seem to know a lot about a player that you can't find much about on the net

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jul 2014 17:20:34
You are the only one

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jul 2014 18:53:58
there is plenty about him on the net if u have a proper look, his passing accuracy is brilliant, long term replacement for g barry and he can also cover at centre half, some people r never happy r they?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - your right there johnny mate..

Funny thing is swan if he signed for the red side you would be saying he's some unknown Bosnian, there wernt much of competition from other clubs for a 4m 21 year old

Agree0 Disagree0

30 Jul 2014 04:29:15
Mike y r u so negative mate, do some research on the lad and u will see he looks class, am not claiming to b some know all here at all mate just if u look into his record and his average stats then for the price paid he looks a steal, when we signed Tim Cahill did u no a lot about him, or someone like super kev, and I bet u new feck all about Coleman but look how good he has turned out, just saying just because u dnt know a lot about a player doesn't mean it isn't a class signing

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jul 2014 13:57:18
Personally would love Kagawa at Everton! not only is he a great footballer! we should finally get big money from the asian market by having possibly its biggest star! don't think it will happen and if it does then I would think that McCarthy would probably be going the other way and I wouldn't make that swap!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think kagawa is a good footballer myself but don't see why McCarthy would be a factor or why you would want to swop him

Agree0 Disagree0

29 Jul 2014 11:55:24
what has happened to traore ed? are we still after him? I have heard he is still on Merseyside but why would he be, shouldn't he be doing pre-season training at monaco?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - we are still trying to negotiate a loan deal jipster..

29 Jul 2014 10:56:03
Hello eds and evertonians, been away for 2 weeks and obviously happy we've signed besic, I think that was quite an important signing as he is certainly one for the future! Is there anyone else we've signed? Has this hennan guy? Also as frustrated I am with the lack of activity I will wait, till transfer deadline day if necessary for Lukaku, as annoying as this is he is a player that although is inconsistent at the moment give him a few years and him and Barkley will form one of the most lethal attack forces in world football, he will score us at least 15 goals a season (prem) and only improve. There are few other strilers in that bracket as regards age, potential and premier league experience for more than 1 season. But I do really feel we need at least 2 wingers/attacking players, and 1 other striker, maybe someone from abroad who could come in and give us something new like running from the last man etc but I'll leave that to bobby. can someone also tell me when the next pre season game at Goodison is and who it's against? And how many are left? Cheers blues, have a good summer and and

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - 3rd of aug v porto D, and henen should be tied up at the end of the week mate..

29 Jul 2014 09:04:01
All this panic for one striker! Will we get him? Does he want champions league football? Have faith and don't worry. Winnie Parks is on his way!😉

A little off track but has anybody noticed a lot of top managers are narcissists. Mourinho and Rednapp we know and when I listen to Van Gaal it is "I I fxxxing I". Hopefully, people see Roberto and yes, the Liverpool boss as more "we will, we can". A more diplomatic an people orientated approach. Do it your way Roberto but don't be too soft.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - im with you there smeggs..

29 Jul 2014 07:32:18
I like the look of Besic and really think we got a snip there. But each year the goalposts seem to move, more cash and bigger fees Lovren £20 mil for example. I really hope the cash we have 'saved' through lack of earlier activity and sales / TV money is utilised in the market this window, otherwise last seasons promise is going to be wasted.
There is obviously more to the Lukaku story than we know, and I guess we are keeping funds back for that, but with only a couple of weeks left we might end up being shorter than Southampton .

anyone know anythink about Sam Bryne?

he has just signed from Man utd

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - hes only 19 and wont be near the first team for a good while BOTN..

29 Jul 2014 06:12:14
it looks like we have signed sam bryne from man utd.19 and a forward

Believable0 Unbelievable0

That deal went through a couple of weeks ago mate.

29 Jul 2014 07:22:30
Yes its on Wpedia, building a team for the future, but we need some fresh players now for the first team

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i agree jonno..

Getting a bad feeling about Lukaku and the fact the Remy deal evaporated across the Park .
