why does this always happen to everton signing a player [fer] is so hard work or is bill trying to get the price down or get him on loan .gibbo

Haven't been on here since this morning, so haven't seen all the posts about Fer, however I just went on my iPod and saw the story. Apparently the Toffee medical staff have raised concerns regarding Fer, and that we have tried to renegotiate the deal.

It sounds to me as though Fer has problems injury wise (or something spotted during his medical) and we have tried to get a cheaper price.

Read of it what you will. The way I see it is, if Moyesy wants him we'll get him (that us if course assuming his medical is no problem). We can talk about it all we want, but until an official announcement is made, positively or negatively, it's all talk.

Well done Ed on stopping these posts, hopefully not this one, as it's pointless how we get wound up about it. Not to mention those neighbours from across the park revelling in our 'reported' problems.

Been reading as many articals as possible online about Fer, the deal appears to have hit a snag over a knee injury he had a few months ago which has showed up in the medical, and we have tried to re-negotiate the deal with appearance based fee's. We can all moan and bitch, but none of us wants to sign a player who may spend more time on the treatment table, after all 9 million is a lot of money for our club, if we're going to do it, it needs to be done right and be the right deal for the club!! I have faith in Moyes and whatever happens we should know its for the best!

Apparently they have found a problem while doing medial for Fer, he injured his leg and was out for 2 months and are wary this will be a reoccurring injury so lowers there price and Twente are refusing to renogotiate! Not a happy bunny let's not rush into someone else let's hope we have another top priority COYB

Looks like his existing knew full well his injury problem, hence him being for sale. Also looks like we have been used as a stalking horse to capture good old Harry.

You guys can bury your heads in the sand about this Fer deal, but it looks like it could well be off. Remember Moutinho and Manny Fernandes ? Unless the payments are restructured then we will not get the lad. I don't claim to know the origins of the cancelled negotiations but it remains in the balance, it seems. If another club comes in for him and agree an acceptable deal with FC Twente then he will be gone. Let's hope an amicable resolution can be reached.

The deal is nailed on! Financial terms agreed already, the only snag is that Everton will unveil him to the fans rather than the press! Expect this to happen about 7:30pm tomorrow! See you there!

Believable2 Unbelievable3

Great to hear some positiv talk

Agree0 Disagree0

Could be it took ages to get jelavic he signed during the game that what we like to do perhaps get everyone thinking its not going to happen then when we pull it off he comes on at half time and the fans get excited we cheer the team on throughout the second half and we kick start our season from there is a possibility how much of a possibility this is compared to the other possible scenarios oh a possible snag in the deal

Was thinking the exact same thing!

Ed I was just looking at the posts saying Fer has failed a medical and all that bull and laughing. But I have now seen a number of reports that have quoted the President of FC Twente as saying that Everton have made additional requirements that they will not agree to. It is claimed that the possibility of a deal going through is not great. Please tell us its bull Ed?!

Joe EFC {Ed025's Note - there may be a snag or 2 joe...but lets not jump the gun, we will have to wait and see, a lot of keyboard warriors are invading our pages, reading and posting with glee that their may be a hitch, and until something is concrete, im not posting any more on this matter..

Believable0 Unbelievable2

The financial deal was agreed yesterday, the kid has been playin regularly has no major injury problems in his career, .will sign tm .

Agree0 Disagree0

From what I've read, apparently we came across an old injury during the medical that has got the potential to flair-up again and so we want to get him for a bit cheaper, but Twente are saying no because we've already agreed a price.

The on TW is that the Fer deal has broken down. GUTTED!

What pisses me just as much is that if you read their comments on the post, you would think most of them are happy about it. Gives them more ammunition to give DM and BK a kicking. Shameful

So how was everyones day today then? I for one was pretty over the moon with signing this Fer lad, but I just feel that 8.6 million seems abit steep, and perhaps Moyes could have looked to get two players instead of one, maybe I'm just being picky, but we shall wait and see, IMWT hey?

COYB

QB {Ed025's Note - you are just picky mate...quality costs...give me one cracker, over 2 average any day..

Believable0 Unbelievable3

Agree with ed

Agree0 Disagree0

Why have 2 average when you can have 1 quality signing.. you can only play 11 players at 1 time. that's like saying (if you multiply the numbers) you would prefer to have 40 average players rather than 20 quality players. clue: 1 team finishes mid table (stoke esque) the other challenges for european spots (everton esque)

Hiya guys, don't often post on here but I've been an Everton fan a few years now and I just thought I'd join in! Firstly, I thought i'd start by saying how I've been hearing A LOT of whispers recently about us being interested in a young lad called Danny Bland from Morecambe. I'd heard a lot about him and heard that he played for one of the local sides 'Slyne With Hest' so I thought I'd go check him out.. it was FREEZING! So anyway, I asked around and this lad was playing left back and oh my word... he had a STINKER! So, giving him the benefit of the doubt I put it down to the awful conditions and let it pass. ANYWAY, I went the next week and this time he's playing left midfield. He certainly has the figure of a winger and he can pass but when it comes to shooting he's like the Emile Heskey of the Saturday League, so when I heard from his parents that Everton had offered him a trial with a view to a contract I was shocked! Type him on youtube and have a watch.. maybe I'm being harsh but I don't see him as Everton material AT ALL!

Believable2 Unbelievable1

All footballers have bad spells, look at jellyfish

Agree0 Disagree0

Thought that at first with a lot of players everton have signed in the past. we buy potential then bring them along in training. as other posters have said, some players just have a bad spell too, even going back as simplistic as saturday/ sunday league. Ossie's career is a prime example, due to injuries and lack of consistency he hadn't had a real run in the everton team til of late when he's turned into his late 20's even though he's been with the club for over 8 years

Agree0 Disagree0

What do you think, team we could have so far (without injuries)

Howard.
Hibbert. Jagielka. Distin. Baines
Mirallas. Gibson. Fer. Pienaar
Fellaini. Jelavic.

Good team in my eyes, see Hibbert stronger in defence than coleman... When hibbert plays, our defence generally look much stronger and more confident..................

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Moyes said in his presser, which was at 1:30, that he is about halfway through his medical and after that all should be good.

I don't think we would spend 8m on a player relying on Fellini money no bid has been made for him, also everyone seems to think he is felleni replacement felleni does not play cm anyway only occasionally.

Agree0 Disagree0

I doubt it was in relation to Fellaini, yes, the fee was 8.6mil, but what people need to realise only a small amount would of been paid upfront, most likely something around the 3-4mil mark with the rest in instalments, that is what Everton do, imagine we still would have had a bit of change remaining from the Rodwell sale which would've covered the down payment for Fer.

Every transfer fee is paid with a deposit andinstalments

Agree0 Disagree0

Heitinga over Distin? Don't think so...........

TC

Agree0 Disagree0

Sick of Barkley-lovers. He's not impressed me at all when he's played, he's nowhere near as good as Gibson do why would you play an ineffective youngster over a vital central midfielder? {Ed025's Note - i think he will make you eat your words mate..

Agree0 Disagree0

Give barkley a couple of seasons to futher mature and learn the importance of possesion and closing players down as well as general experience dealing withpressure situations and playing in a more established team (leeds) and he will be awesome. he has guile, flair, pace and strength for a fairly ordinary built young lad. he has a rooney type of quality and that is natural... you can not teach that type of quality, you either have it or you dont. he will be a regular starter for us in a couple of seasons time, if we can push for 4th and attempt to keep our current crop of players over the coming seasons, barkley will slot in nicely for us to push futher on and who knows what we may achieve.. the glory days back at goodison i'm sure would be welcomed back with open arms from each and every one of our supporters. before anyone jumps on about 1 players don't make a team consider this: finish in top 4 this season and keep fellaini (lets be honest we are not as good without him on the field and would be difficult to replace) a cup run wouldn't go a miss would love the fa cup back at goodison this season. during summer, have future funds from tv rights/ champ league money to spend soley on players to strengthen our depth of squad to cope with fixture list; next season have aspirations to again finish in top 4, possibly win a cup for moyes (he deserves at least some silverware for his hard graft) and further attract more quality signings.

Take it with the imminent signing of fer, that vadis odidja ofoe is now completely off the table? Would it not have been wiser to have signed him on a lower fee, and gone after a cover for right wing, such as Redmond of Birmingham? Just an idea and wondered if anyone else had a similar view

I am delighted that we have attracted a promising signing in Fer, however the best thing about this is the way in which it has happened. No using the press to unsettle him, no rumours leaked out - a genuine bolt from the BLUE.
Well done BK and DM. Doubtless TW will still be unhappy - clearly we should tell everyone in advance who we are after and how much money we have.
Remember, as we watch Oldham being unable to say whether their manage has a job due to finances, and as we watch Portsmouth, Leeds, Rangers and all of the other clubs on a list too long to mention (and I include our neighbours) ruing taking the shiny buttons, let's at least count our blessings .

Glad to see Mr Moyes listening to our advice about bringing in a physical midfielder.

Now for a right winger and another striker who can frighten sides with pace.

Not Everton related, but I thought it was pretty funny - "Representatives of Stoke City and Newcastle United watched Erik Pieters in action during PSV v PEC Zwolle on January 18th. Pieters returned from an ankle injury but in their surprising 3-1 defeat at home against the Eredivisie strugglers he was sent off. After leaving the pitch and walking to the dressing room he smashed a window with his arm. He was heavily injured and had to undergo surgery. Pieters will be out for at least six weeks and can forget a transfer this month."
