Just back from a trip to Tanzania. No surprise really that I did not meet one person who supported Everton. Some did remember that we visited some months ago but support was for the normal teams, Man. United, Chelsea and Arsenal. Nor did I see any signs for SportPesa or our shirts being sold which begs the question "why did we bother with them for a shirt sponsor"? Can't see much benefit to be honest apart from whatever SportPesa are paying the club on an annual basis. The club is so far behind the "big" clubs in commercial sponsor and sales it is not funny. We need some new thinking in the Commercial Department.

Congratulations to Kieran Dowell on his hat trick!

Listen to Mark Warburton’s (the Nottingham Forest manager’s) post-match comments about Dowell. People know how talented and technically gifted the player is, but now Kieran is realising the “ugly” side of the game - what to do when he loses the ball and during the transition phases of play.
IMHO many young players are very gifted and excel at U18 and U23 level, but the demands of first-team (especially PL) football require as much off the ball as on it. Playing on loan at a lower-tier side (especially one managed by a decent coach like Warburton) will give Dowell the opportunity to develop his game and prove that he’s ready to return to Everton as a first-team player.
The few times he appeared for Everton, he showed glimpses of his on-the-ball ability, but would then “disappear” and not influence (nor impose himself upon) the match.
Very few young players (even the likes of Tom Davies) have yet achieved a level of consistency. Just look at Kenny - he has been great at U23 level, but hasn’t shone consistently in the first-team. He needs time to develop - to be coached - and just keeping him (or any young player) in the first-team just for the sake of it and hoping he gets through risks not only the team’s performance/ result, but also the confidence of the player himself.
I’m content to see the staff responsible for the recruitment and development of the club’s youngsters (Unsworth, Royle, Walsh? ) decide the best route (staying in the U23s, or loan, or training with the first-team) for each individual. Dowell is showing the benefit of his current development path and it certainly looks like he will make it as a good player.

I don't watch forest but I do watch Gillette soccer Saturday and I keep seeing k dowell name on the score sheet and there fans have nothing but nice things to say about him. was it a mistake to let him go. I think so or maybe good of him and better for us.

I watched them earlier. The first one is a bullet and the second is pure skill in the way he finished it. He also seems like a really shy man. His family were ecstatic after the match and he looked embarrassed lol.

I see all the latest news in the rags is that Rhino will not be our next manager, I for one am happy about that decision, and Farhed may give him the no 2 spot, managing the under 23s is one thing but just do not feel he is ready to step up yet, if Farhed was going to give Unsey the job he would have done so after his meeting on Thursday, my opinion only folks.

{Ed025's Note - in my view GB they should give unsy 8 games or so to see how it goes, then if the job is too big for him then go for tuchel mate, the one thing about rhino is that he does get the supporters and the club so i would not be averse to him getting the job full time to be honest..

I take your point Ed mate but I am sure the board have many irons in the fire already re a new manager mate cheers.

{Ed025's Note - im sure they do GB..

I would personally go all out for Benitez with the understanding that Rhino is his no 2. I think he would learn a lot from him and prepare him for the top spot once the new stadium is up and running.

I wouldn't complain if Rhino got it, I just don't want him to fail and get shoved out of the club.
If we could prep him and then hopefully when he gets the job he can have it for a long period and then move upstairs.

Agree GB, I think he needs to be shown the ropes by working under the next manager before flying solo at some point in the future. Stig, that just your opinion or do you know BK and have been privy to a conversation between him and FM?

That's what I am really trying to show mates, we all have different Ideas none of us has a clue who will be our next manager of that I am sure, I really enjoy the posts on here excellent may it long continue, as I said earlier is all about opinions, so let's get behind who ever takes over I know I will.

Well I for one hope that Unsworth is very successful and gets the job full-time. I know that the odds are low for this to happen and the ideal situation is that we get an experienced manager and David becomes his second in command. The worst case scenario (at least for this season) is that we get another manager and Unsworth leaves the club to manage another club. Can't see him wanting to spend the rest of his managerial career managing our U21 side.

Ed025 - Tuchel may well be a good choice as coach, but I’d be concerned about his man-management record. I’ve read/ heard that he can be overly abrasive with the players and he had a strained relationship with his previous club’s board. Our most successful manager was Howard Kendall and he had man-management skills par excellence. That’s especially important if we want to bring young players into the first-team and if we want to keep the first-team squad all motivated.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - tuchel has a good record of bringing youth through bobby which is one of the reasons i like him, he had a problem with the dortmund board due to promises they broke but i think the stories of alienating players has been over the top shall we say, he is strict and does not suffer fools gladly and his brand of football is attacking and exciting which is why he is my personal choice, but if rhino gets the gig i will be happy with that mate..
