He promised the same last summer. I'm not getting to excited I think the summer window will be were we get some more significant signings.

We should give youth a chance for the rest of the season in my opinion.

{Ed002's Note - MoTD fever. He is not moving to Everton.}

28 Jan 2017 12:01:28
Koeman has done an interview for a dutch paper and it explains the change in tact by the club since the summer.

He is hinting that youth is his priority within the club than going out there and buying a million players.

It's the first time we've had a real idea he has about our club and the direction he wants to take it in. It also hints that he is truly getting a real feel for the club and for the people who have concerns he wants only to be here for the money, an insight that he may well be here far past the three years his contract suggests.

For those also that have been listening to some of us talking highly about our own Mr Unsworth there is a great interview with him in the Echo on what is expected of a player to get into the u23's.

We've got an amazingly talented bunch of staff at Everton. Only a matter of time we start to genuinely challenge at the top of football again.

Lets hope so BJU. Some of us have been waiting a very long time. however, remember some of the youngster supporters have never tasted success with us. At least us older ones have memories that help us keep the faith when times are tough. My own son bleeds blue blood andwas the only Evertonian in his Gloucestershire school. Many reds, Chelsea, Man Utd's etc. and a few local Forest Green ones who are my son's second team. but he has kept the faith and we did the Euro away days against Lille and Young Boys. that reignited my passion and the Man City game was such a pleasure to attend. But like I say, the youngsters have only had individual games to enjoy. Imagine how we felt in the mid eightees after all the barren years. but we had also had the 70's and 60's success. hence the negative vibes sometimesfromsome of the youngsters. they have only known failure season after season. let's hope you are right and we have a future involving some silver eh? I am genuinely excited and hopeful again.

I echo Degsy's sentiments in this BJU,

At the stage of growth we are in regards the ground, cash input, new sponsorship etc I believe there are very few managers capable of embracing the concept as Koeman has done. At the moment he is the clubs best asset and I hope he stays for many years after this contract expires.

Unsworth and Koeman seem to be running on the same pitch and credit to Usny he has adapted well to how RK wants the youngsters to be. After just half a season I have noticed that the TV pundits across all channels are no longer treating us as a joke team, no doubt some of our players will also draw inspiration from this.

Excellent posts Blues. I've always tried to be positive on this site and to be fair even the darkest of posters who to be fair had plenty to moan about with the Martinez years still fresh in memory it's very understandable but are looking at a very positive upturn. We are even on MOTD quite early, Lineker is even starting to remember he played for us. They even have Kevin Kilbane as pundit some weeks.

Who knows, we might even start getting a few more live games from Sky. And Jim White seems to be Farhad Moshiris very own media spokesman.

Things are doing great at the moment and it could well spell future success very soon for us.

And to cap it off wolves are 2-0 up at analfield. Life's good.

If Liverpool lose to Wolves, we should stick the boot in and announce our new stadium, that would tip them over the edge.

The worst thing about going out of the cup in the third round is that this weekend everyone seems to be playing except us. BORED!

I'm adopting Sutton Toffee. I usually adopt a team from the lower leagues to support in the FA or of one beats us continue supporting them.

I've done it from the Woking days. We beat them 1 nil but our support on the day was brlliant cheering them on instead of the blues.

Their crowd had a mixture of previous teams they'd beaten including west brom supporters and they were brilliant.

I don't care what people say it's the best competition in world to me. Come on Sutton!

Agree BJU, I'm following Oxford mate young Ledson playing for them now. Always thought he would become another Barkley for us, but for one reason or another it just didn't happen.
Still big game today against Newcaste, so let's see how he does. Team coming off a good win at Rochdale, were Ryan scored. So fingers crossed.

Yeah fair enough BJU. But I'm sorry Woburn, I could never cheer on oxford for two very good reasons. Ray Houghton played for them and that red gets right on my nerves. And they beat us 1-0 in 86 which then led to them over the road to winning the league Arrrrrrhhhhhh!

But I'll try the idea you both have to help cure my boredom this weekend.

Hi Ed I really think R K will still bring in a couple in this window, he has been very shrewd in his business so far, I think a striker and goalkeeper would be enough till the summer, you can tell by the majority of posters on here they are now really warming to R. K and his tactics it's like a breath of fresh air to read that most are behind him now, long may it continue cheers mate, GuernseyBlue

Sorry ed can you stick the two posts together please.

He bided his time and only accepted moshiri into the club because he knows he will not asset strip us or turn us into villa or Sunderland etc. He also has brought in koeman, who the majority feel will bring us success by being open and honest and not too nice.

Thanks Bill. New stadium needs bill kenwright stand

{Ed001's Note - sorry mate I can't as I am covering on my phone.}

28 Jan 2017 08:44:08
I blame big Bill for everything.

This time it's positive.

Just think he should be given a lot of credit for everything he has done for Ours and his beloved club. It's well documented he remortgagehouse house to save us, got rid of agent Johnson. He steadied the shop and brought in moves, who was the perfect manager at the right time.
He has also bided his time

I agree geoff. It's so easy to get an owner like what Hull, Leeds, Portsmouth, Newcastle, Liverpool, Fulham, Aston Villa and many more have had or still have. The promise of big investment only to strip the club of everything they stand for.

Leeds and Villa scare me so much as with the wrong choice of investor this is what we could have been.

So for anyone who wants to have a go at Kenwright just take a look at what to these two massive clubs have gone through. Then let the palpitations ease and thank your lucky stars we had this great man steer us through our most difficult time as a club with pure unadulterated love for it.

Thanks Bill.

Besic is apparently doing gymn work and a mid Feb return is expected. That will be like another new signing. He was one of Martinez's better young signings and was just getting some form when he got injured. That really gives Gana and McCarthy a bit of competition for a place in the side. Barry and Shneiderlin too. The squad is starting to look like a squad that is not weakened too much by the loss of a player. All we need now is a center forward to make Lukaku work his socks off EVERY game. But remember the 2 new young lads can offer that now. This manager knows what he wants!
