So the way it stands if a non top six club wins the FA cup and we finish 6th and Man U 7th we don't get Europa but if we are 7th and Man U 6th we do get Europa?
Is that right? Weird or what.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - No, that is not correct. I am truly astonished that the Everton fans are unable to comprehend the simple rules.}}

28 Feb 2017 21:04:23
Sorry can you explain why this is incorrect.

{Ed002's Note - The Europa places will go to 5th, Manchester United and the non top 6 FA Cup winning side.}

28 Feb 2017 22:39:20
Think it goes like this.

5th gets Europa plus the winners of f. a. cup and league cup.
If the winners of a cup finishes in top 5 then that place goes to next in league (I. e. 6th or 7th)
So this year 6th will get it if man Utd finish 5th or higher.
7th will get it if the f. a. cup winners finish 6th or higher.

I am fed up to keep reading about this issue to be honest. The rules as ed002 has stated are easy to understand.

The top four sides in the Premiership go into the Champions League next season. If the season ended today they would be Chelsea, Spurs, Manchester City and Arsenal.
The fifth team in the league plus the winners of the FA cup and the League cup would enter the Europa league next season. If the winners of both the FA cup or League Cup are ineligible by being in the Champions League or they are already in by being in the fifth spot in the league then the 6th and 7th places in the league would quality.

As it stands today Liverpool are in fifth spot and United have won the League Cup so they would be in. The winner of the upcoming FA cup would join them providing it was not one of the teams in the top five at the end of the season or Manchester United.

If Huddersfield go on to win the FA cup for example then the seventh spot does not get a Europa cup spot.
The only way the seventh team gets into Europe is if the FA cup is won by either the top four clubs who are in the Champions League or by the fifth placed team or by Manchester United providing United stay in the top seven spots.

If United drop to seventh place and either they or one of the top five clubs wins the FA cup then the sixth place team gets the FA cup Europa cup spot.

As ed002 has said if United drop to 8th place or lower and either they or one of the top four clubs wins the FA cup then United and the fifth and sixth placed teams would be in the Europa cup.
Hopefully I have got all this right otherwise ed002 will be after me.

Sounds a lot like what I said Mike.
I agree this issue does not need to be mentioned anymore. When we have played the 38 games then we can look at the table and plan a European excursion or not.

Whatever happens come 5pm on 21st may (which is very late btw) , I feel this season has been a massively positive step up from last season. All credit to Mr moshiri, to and his staff, all the players and the fans
Very excited for the next few years.

Yes I agree Geoff, did not see your reply when I posted my comment. Lot of games left so anything can happen but regardless we are moving in the right direction.

I put a sarcastic comment on yesterday sort of taking the micky out of ourselves and questioning Ed002 but they didn't print it. Yes it is confusing, but come on lads get a grip. Ed002 has explained it a 1000 times now and every day I see another hypothetical question about if Norway starts selling bacon on bank holidays and if Mary Poppins jumps off the cliffs of Dover, does that mean 6th will play 8th for the etc. getting bored now. just like I am with people asking the same questions over and over again. and I don't even have to answer them. just for you Ed002.do you think they should simplify the Europa League qualification system so you don't have to repeatedly answer stupid questions? Over to you.

{Ed002's Note - I didn't see the post yesterday so one of the 'evil-minded' Eds would have deleted it. I would like to see the Fair Play League place re-introduced for Europa - or bring back the Inter Toto Cup.}

Yeah right. if only for your sanity no doubt!

Ed. Go the whole hog and bring back the anglo-Italian cup from early 90's, I think.

Always wanted to see Bristol rivers play juve stabia.
Wow.

What about the Zenith Data Systems Cup for the teams that finish 14th and 15th?

Hi Ed sorry it was a couple of days ago and it was Ed 025 not you who said he would not be coming and was past his best thanks GuernseyBlue.

Hi Ed, we aired our views on the Wayne Rooney to return to Everton saga a few days ago and it seems to me to be gathering pace that there could well be something in it, with R K coming out and saying he is one of the players who could improve the team, Ed 002 reckoned he would never come back, but if as being reported that he wants more England caps etc, i really think there could be some mileage in this, GuernseyBlue.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I said nothing of the sort - what I said in January was: "Manchester United will let Rooney leave once they have a replacement - which might be as early as this summer. Everton will have the option to make a proposal if they wish to do so."

Try not to misquote me.}

OOps sorry Ed my apologies, GuernseyBlue.

Hi Ed don't know if you have read it, but there is an excellent article in the Echo on an interview with Mr Moshiri, really good, this guy he knows exactly what he wants for Everton, what a gem Bill has found for us, GuernseyBlue.

Everything Everton to be honest. Quite revealing. Talking to Elstone about our finances and moving. Koeman about a normal week, stop analysising last result and start preparing for our next match, Ferguson on a coaching sessions and preparing with management about what needs doing, Walsh about how he identifies and gets players, Tom Davies about his Everton rise, Romelu (and Jamie Carragher in full Everton training kit) about his future. Everton in the Community officer about our charity work (didnt relise how much we actually do) . It's been really good to be fair.

To be honest Anglesey I don't care if he is Cruella de Ville. as long as he keeps finding us players like he has already started to. Lookman has some potential. His ratio of shots on target per minutes played must be quite high I feel. Plus he is still maturing and improving. He is a goal machine in the making.
