Use our rumours form to send us everton transfer rumours.

I have supported Martines so far but when the pressure has been on he does not have the answers. His tactics are a shambles. We have become predictable teams stop us playing out of defence and martines seems to think playing down the middle is the answer when we need to play with wingers so the full backs can overlap.Even the incosistant Mcgeady made a difference in the first half. Martines substitutes did not make sense today. He should have brought on Besic for Mcathy, Barclay for Eto and Miralas for Baines. barclay and besic in the middle and two wingers to open it out Kone was doing ok. That game was there for the taking

When martinez became our manager I was open minded and after last season I was won around that he was the right man for the job. However he has to go now imo. I think last season he benefitted from a well drilled moyes team and added a bit of flair. We now have a team that cannot defend and plays so slowly through the thirds of the pitch. The players today looked like they had no clue what to do next which inevitably lead to the ball being passed back into defence and back to the keeper constantly as it has been all season with the inevitable mistakes our defence makes this is suicidle. Whatever he tried to achieve with baines failed today. Mcgeady is woeful. Barry is in terrible form and is keeping besic out the team, figure that one out. The only positive today was kone he showed lukaku how to hold up a ball played to feet. The reason he has to go now is because it is obvious he will not change his tactics and this run will continue, does he not understand that teams know how to play against us we are too predictable and we are gifting teams goals. At this rate we will be involved in a relegation battle with europa league games on a thursday. And looking at some of the players out there they will not be up for a relegation battle more likely to turn up in europe to put themselves in the shop window.

Rumors have it that Valencia are interested in signing etoo. At this point I'd sell him for whatever we can get. I hate seeing him in the team because despite how legendary he is he doesn't fit our scheme and doesn't track back. Sell him and Gibson and buy a proper winger to start opposite mirallas. As a side note if besic doesn't start over Barry next match I might lose my mind.

Desperately need to get rid of dead weight and replace with some class:

Outs:
Mcgeady
Barry
Joel
Lukaku

Ins:
A better Winger
A better Defensive Midfielder
A Much Much Much better GK

FYI, the sale of Lukaku would have to fund those tramsfers, as the rest of the players out ar worth jack.

After that. we should be sound.

Harsh Ed, Tim Howard is an awesome keeper! Can't say I've seen too much of you guys this season though, so maybe not true! Caught the second half of the game today though, Kev is one hell of a player, always said I wish we'd signed him instead. Good luck for the second half of the season, looking forward to the Derby, as always.

{Ed025's Note - i wish i could wish your lot the same super..unfortunately mate the blue blood which runs through my veins will not allow me to.. :)

Bill
The alarm bells must be ringing loud & clear now mate.
After taking the lead against the magpies reality kicked in again as it did @ Spurs when we did the same & shot ourselves in the foot yet again.
Mcgeady @ fault 4 umpteenth time this season for their 2nd giving cheap possession away on edge of the box & paid the price then low & behold Barkley gift wrapped them a 3rd.
Were a joke absolute laughing stock & sinking like a stone.
I can't see where the next point is coming from which is a huge concern.
Not sure how true this is but I've heard that martinez doesn't practice corners/free kicks prefers to score the perfect goal from open play lol & he refuses to change his style of play.
Last corner we scored from was the merseyside derby @ Goodison last season (Lukaku)if my memory serves me right.
I don't care how we score as long as it hits back of the opposition net but if what I hear is correct the man is an absolute clown taking us down like wigan.
Bill you have to act now before its to late.
I'll be surprised if he martinez isn't sacked by morning.
Bring in Koeman from Soton urgently mind u would he want to inherit a team of golden oldies compared to the young exciting Soton team he's building.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The quote he came out with was along the lines of 'we don't practice corners as I prefer to score from open play as it means more'

Someone should tell him pretty sharpish that it means exactly the same as scoring from open play.

We recently had a poll of should Martinez be sacked (21/12). The results were 33% yes 67% no. What do you reckon the results would be now ed?

We are Everton

Martinez Out

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i suspect it would be a lot closer mike..

I think Southampton have richer owners than we do since the other season sometime so Koeman is better off where he is.

We do, in my opinion, have a decent squad though. So there is potential for a good finish to the season for anyone taking over. Even Martinez if he had a change of heart.

I'll tell you though, when Souness begins to say the same things that are coming out of your own mouth it is really scary. Should I go the quacks in the mornin? Am I possessed? There is a reality somewhere where we are 15 times Champions league winners and are so bored of winning we all play cribbage while the game is on :-

Dear oh dear . where do we go from here? In all my years of supporting the blues, I can't remember another time where I've had no confidence whatsoever going into a game. You think its a blip and we will see the Everton of last year at some point but not only is that not happening, we actually look crap. I have to admit I was very pro Martinez but even I'm having second thoughts. I just am lost for words for some of the displays we have had to endure. When Kone scored I thought, right come on here we go. How wrong was i? Why does it always feel like the opposition are going to score everytime they attack? I normally don't slam the individual performances but there were 3 shocking performances today. Barry and Distin need to go but please please Bobby get rid of Mcgeady. just what does he do to warrant a blue shirt? Its getting really really embarrassing and something has to give

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - im with you there baz, im afraid buzz has hit the wall mate and barry looks well off the pace..and dont even get me started on mcgeady!..

What a horrible Christmas. Would have preferred Browning to be given a chance. Oviedo on the bench, if fit would have given 100% as would Besic, who must be getting increasingly bemused by what is going on before his eyes. How I would love the old dogs of war days again.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

28 Dec 2014 19:36:43
First half Newcastle on the attack and lose the ball, Eto has the chance to go for the quick breakaway. Four passes later our keeper is kicking it in to touch. Just about summed it all up for me. Don't want Moyes back, but we have to make a change. Great sides are built on a strong defence, not a team full of wingers. Totally ruined Christmas, and now dreading the new year.

souness and neville were spot on with their comments after the match!! i hope roberto heard what they said. kone scored a good goal from a cross and then the team tried to play down the middle all the time. too much football being played cost us the goals today.i hate to say it but kone looks better than lukaku at the mo.

A top 4 position this season is impossible. A top 6 is expected but unlikely. A bottom half position is not acceptable. A top half finish outside the top 6 along with Europa or FA cup I think would be acceptable by most fans. Mr Kenwright please pass this message to your manager and players with the addition that heads will roll if otherwise.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

28 Dec 2014 18:29:29
I've not posted on here in quite sometime. Have to say that performance today was atrocious. McGeady, Alcaraz, Robles, distin, Barry aren't good enough. Kone has about as much movement as 90 year old. Eto'o in midfield!! Combination of a clueless manager, players that look unfit, can't keep clean sheets, don't create chances. Can't see light at the end of the tunnel. The unfortunate thing is if we lost the next 6 games I still don't think kenwright would have the balls to change the manager. Very very p***ed off

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Alastair, McGeady, Alacaraz, Robles and Barry were all Martinez signings. As was Kone and Eto'o. There within lies the problem. In your list only Distin was a Moyes signing. And he would have gone by now had Moyes still been here.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - you have to get over moyes you know degsy...hes gone now, and i say good riddance, bobby after a great start now appears to be crap, but at least hes crap with a smile on his face..

I have not been one for sacking Martinez, but the more the season goes on the more it is inevitable. Up to December, international call ups and Europa matches could be used as distractions. Since begining December these haven't been the case and the poor performance continues. The buck stops with Martinez.

I would fully support the appointment of Steve McClaren as manager. He has an excellent cv, well experienced at home and Europe. He had a bad experience as England manager but so what. for a start he would sort the defence out. Alternatively get Moyes back.

Fans are paying a lot of money to support the team and they deserve far better return in performance and results to what they are seeing. to Bill Kenwright start looking at empty seats and ask why.
Following today's match at Newcastle, Graeme Souness and Gary Neville summed up exactly what is wrong with Everton which is what the fans have been posting over the weeks.
A new goalkeeper is priority in January and as Bill has a so called good relationship with Chelsea then put a SERIOUS bid in for Petre Bech. Secondly another top centre half needed now to partner Stones when fit.

28 Dec 2014 18:33:21
Sharp exhale of breath. As someone who thinks they know a bit about football, I want to get something off my chest. When Moyes left, I said I feared for our future. Some people got quite personal with posts against me for supporting Moyes for the 10 years in which he had dragged our suffering club into a position where we were regular qualifiers for Europe or at least challengers for the positions. Martinez came in and I was sceptical of his ability to take us further. I was pleasantly surprised at his first season. Then when we signed Alcaraz, Robles, McGeady and Kone, I feared the worse. I was also concerned by a lack of goals in our 2 holding midfield players. Come this season, I noticed the tip tap of possession football was getting us nowhere. The few games (Europa League aside) we did win in the main had Leon Osman in. I am the first to admit that Leon Osman is on his last legs and is easily knocked off the ball these days, but of the 5 games we won, Osman played in 4 of them. He scored 2 goals and had 1 assist at least if my memory serves me right. He is a must to return as soon as fit because in my opinion we need him. 50 goals in 400 games is proof of his contribution. Now on to the tactics. To continually change the team from game to game does not allow players to settle into a position. This can be ok with more mature players, but kids wonder what the hell is going on. We seem to go from 442 to 3511 to 541 and all the time are playing round pins in square holes. Yes we have 60% possession, but it is 40% within our back 4 and the keeper. I was slagged off for pointing out the qualities Moyes had left. I was also slagged off for pointing out Leon Osman as being needed. I was also slagged off for saying Kone and McGeady were not good enough. Well right now I still say all of it was true and it gives me no pleasure what so ever to repeat myself.

Another defeat.
Another match where we go ahead against a team whose supporters were ripe for turning against their own team, but we let them back in.
Some reasonable performances - Mirallas clearly made a difference when he came on - but some stinkers - McGeady was shocking apart from the through-ball to Coleman leading to Kone's goal.
Some promising midfield passing, but no real end-product, although we did at least keep trying - albeit ineffectively.
Can't fault the effort of the players today - just not good enough to hold onto a lead or come back when behind.
Poor refereeing decision to miss the elbow by Cisse, but he did miss it and the match panned out differently as a result.
We're too susceptible to being pressed when we try, as RM insists we do, to play out from the back.
We're also a team whose players clearly have a mistake in them - and some are clearly uncomfortable - trying to play as RM wants.
So, we move on to the fixture against Hull City.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agree with this Sid.
Our football in the first half was much better than previous performances. Second half was back to usual until final 10 minutes when I thought we may scrape a draw.
If anyone reading this thinks that we were poor today then they don't go the game and don't see what I see from the paddock. This really WAS one of our better performances :-/

Today, in comparison to the previous games this season, we were brilliant. The fact that in comparison to last season, and dare I say, the moyes era, we were poor, is an understatement.

The fact Martinez 'seemed' to try and change things is a positive. However, unlike other posters, I can't see why Kone was taken off? I thought he did more than Lukaku ever does. Where was Baines playing? Why did Besic not come on instead of McGeady? McCarthy went off again? - he is either fit or not - make your mind up Martinez.

Lots more I could add but ATM Big Joe and Dunc together looks a safer bet to keep us up.

More JD required so I'm off. Unless I get hold of this ipad again later . hic hic

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - have you tried the honey JD mac?...it makes our performances seem slightly less crap mate..

Shocking, no heart, no urgency. This slow, slow, slow, slow, slow football will take us down. The two times we moved at any speed we scored, but then we revert to type, even near the end we broke and then stopped to tip tap around. Hope that was the last time I see McGeady in a blue shirt, Barry should be pensioned off alongside Distin (who I'm afraid has gone a season too long). If Martinez talks about positives after this latest debacle, Kenwright should give him his P45 in front of the cameras, we can't keep blaming referees. In the 55 years I have supported this club I cannot recall any performance as abject as the last 3 (and that includes Smith and Walkers reigns). let's not fool ourselves we are in the mix. Can we get out? I don't know.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

28 Dec 2014 18:15:05
That was an utter embarrassment, we made a very poor Newcastle side look like Brazil, we were lucky they only got 3. Professional footballers who can't pass the ball 5 yards, they don't look at all interested, Distin looks completely lost, Barry looks unfit, he got skinned so many times I lost count, Mc Geedy simply should not be allowed to call himself a professional footballer.

How long is it going to continue, we will lose our star players either in January or the summer, super kev looks disalusioned (can you blame him) and Rom looks a shadow of himself!!

lets start the campaign now MARTINEZ OUT

For me, today is about steadying the ship and making sure that, at worst, we don't lose. Assuming injuries to Howard and Jagielka, I would go with the following team;

Robles
Coleman Stones Distin Baines
McCarthy Besic Barry
Barkley Mirallas
Lukaku

The extra man in midfield (Besic) should give Barkley and Mirallas more freedom to support Lukaku.

I honestly don't know how today is going to pan out, but I know I have been telling my son for the last few games that they were "must win" games. I was saying that with the false belief looking up the table. I am now telling him today's game is a must win. but looking down the table. Everyone knows I would love Leon Osman to be back in the reckoning (he played in 4 of our 5 wins and has only been in 1 losing game). But I think it is a game too soon for him. 3 or 4 other players were carrying knocks after the Stoke game so we must expect at least one or two to be missing. Whatever happens, this is going to be a real test of our mental strength.

Call yourselves Evertonians?? Check your heads lads!!

I wouldn't dream of going into a game so negative. Be negative after the match if we lose. Flippin hell, and that negativity should only last a few days. Some of yous are off your rocker!.

At the end of thr day, we've been found out from Last year, and it doesn't take a genius to see that, so if you think for one second that the Gaff is going to carry on this way, well you can think again.

RM isn't stupid. And he sure as heck doesn't have a daft bunch in his back room staff (Big Dunc for example). Some one in there has definitely got a gob big enough to tell him what's what.

Geezzzz

We will have a great year this year. Top 10 finish and silverware to boot. I guarantee it. so some of ypus shut your face and get behind the TEAM!!

COYB!!!!!!

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Lol

Martinez has already said he is not going to change.

So if the man himself says this then where are we supposed get the optimism from?

A change in tactics today would be very welcome and it would confuse the hell out of the barcodes. But I am sure pardew knows exactly how to set up today with three points already in his pocket alongside Martinez.

I'm sure it is pleasant living in your world though and I truly wish you a happy day :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

Qb its not about being negative, more about fact he just dosent no what to do i have watched evertn from 5 years of age and i'm 60. we all want us to do well but from last year it is such a let down. he has to go

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Dec 2014 12:49:17
I do think it's a bit premature to be calling for his head but that is how modern day football has gone, whether we like it or not. I've said on here recently that RM has to be given the chance to turn it round but he does have to show that things are improving, maybe even tweak his system. If we lose today then that is 3 games on the spin, I think 4 out of 5 as well, so something has to give. To say he is not under threat is silly in today's climate. I'm not saying sacking the manager is the right answer but we can not be sucked in to a relegation battle either. 3 points today and we will all be smiling again
