To just say thank you, One year with Morishi 1 He wiped the clubs depths, 2 Spent 80 million on new players, 3 Practically laying the foundations for new stadium, 4Brought hope and optimism back to the fans and club. Not bad for his first year we are very lucky to have this guy on board with us I take my hat off to him.

Cannot agree with you more Stef. 1 year ago, this club was going nowhere. Terrible Manager, no money, stars all ready to leave, no stadium. (Basically we were the butt of all jokes) I know I copped an ear bashing from my Gunners mate, Liverpool mate and Tottenham mate. I now say to my gunners mate, Usmanov is coming, to my Liverpool mate, we will have a bigger stadium than them and be the big dogs of Merseyside and to my Tottenham mate nothing really cause they are irrelevant. So tonight Moshiri, I will be having a couple of beers and saluting you, because you have brought back hope to the Greatest Football team in the World.

Imho there is more of a chance we will catch the Red other half than West Brom will catch us. 7th at least. Europe looks more likely after Utd wining yesterday also. Good times are only starting :-)

Not sure I agree with all of that. I think the reds are only a couple of players from having a really good side (hate to admit it) . West Brom also have a slightly better run in than we do. So I think it is touch and go. The one bit I agree 100% with you is that I am now looking forwards. I also said a few weeks ago that the WBA home game is a 6 pointer. even more so now.

Time will tell Degsy.

Agreed NBTB. But we were talking about this season. I think there is a time limit there?!?

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Feb 2017 16:21:14
There is a time limit Degsy surely. We will all be wise in hindsight come May time. So to be more specific for ya. The time between now and May will tell, therefore time will tell. As in future tense Degsy. Doesn't matter if is only next week. The phrase time will tell could still be used. I don't quite get what you mean with the time limit.

I just meant that better things are afoot. but for this season we will see what happens. I guess it looked like I was contradicting you which I was not. just saying that this season will be what it will, but better things can now be hoped for longer term. phew what a load of waffle!

Problem with written communication Degsy. Easy to misinterpret. Of course expect things gets better as time goes on.

Tears in my eyes, I am in my sixties and watched the golden vision play with my dad many years ago, he was my dads favourite player.
To watch him an Roy Vernon playing together was a wonderfull site, and Alex allways a gentleman on and off the pitch.

All my thought to Alex's family at this time, I hope the club will pay a tribute to this great player, a minutes applause at the next game please.

Just to clarify European qualification after yesterday's game.
The top 6 will qualify for Europe already. 4 champions league and 2 Europa league.
7th place will qualify for Europa if a top 6 club wins f.a. cup. Sorted.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - Not if Manchester United drop down to 8th.

You all still seem to be struggling to grasp what is very simple - but I am sure Everton will stand a good chance of qualifying - but it will be due to the efforts of others (e.g. Manchester United) rather than because they have been good enough to qualify by their own rights. Personally, I would think this a little embarrassing.}

27 Feb 2017 10:45:16
Obviously ed. I assumed man Utd would stay in the top 6. It is highly likely they will.
We don't make the rules ed, we just play by them.

Any chance we get to get into Europe is a step forward from last season and a carrot to dangle in front of potential (better quality) signings.

I believe that even without Europe, a top 10 finish and the philosophy and methods brought in by rk and his team show that we are moving forward and may well challenge for top 4/ 6 in the coming seasons.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - The point is that what you said is misleading - as it is very clear that the simple rules surrounding what needs to happen for European qualification are something Everton fans are struggling with - you are not alone as the Liverpool fans struggle with the simplest of things as well. However, I think there is a very good chance Everton will be able to qualify for the Europa League and as you say it can be a carrot to be used to attract players.}

27 Feb 2017 11:09:44
Personally Ed002 I think your wrong. The fact that the six teams above Everton have used up all of the allocated European slots with one to spare is hardly to the embarrassment of Everton. What would be embarrassing is if we entered Europe via the fair play route and finished in the lower half of the table. What you seem to be struggling to grasp is we will be finishing 7th on merit above all off those other teams who would gladly swap position with us and not feel embarrassed at all.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Embarrassing is a club qualifying for Europe through the efforts of others, and not through the effort of Everton - coming 7th in a league where only the top five qualify through their efforts in the league (for example). It means that through ability Everton are not good enough to qualify but through the luck of Southampton not winning the League Cup they now have every chance. Again, I am surprised by the Everton fans not being able to see this very simple thing.}

27 Feb 2017 11:25:10
Tbh ed. I don't think most of us would be concerned if Southampton won the league cup and we didn't qualify for Europe because the signs are positive with rk and his team developing us into a club that can challenge again.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Feb 2017 12:47:32
Guys this is all a little bit premature to say the least. Let hope for europe but see where we are with one or two games to go and then work out what is required. What would be embarrassing is going through all this to then finish 8th to West Brom.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Feb 2017 15:11:17
If we didn't put the effort in to finish 7th and improve on the last two years it would be embarrassing. The fact we have and potentially finish even higher then I think we can hold our heads up. Europe is just a bonus.

I'd be more embarrassed spending £150mil plus another £300mil over the past couple of seasons and finishing just 1 place above a team that spent roughly £120mil less this season.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I am not sure why you want to make it about any one else (another trait of supporters of Merseyside clubs) but most supporters would be embarrassed if their club were not good enough to get in to Europe through their own efforts.}

27 Feb 2017 15:43:32
Tbh ed. I think any club outside the too 4/ 6 wouldn't care how they got into Europe just as long as they did.
Record books never say 'fans/ players embarrased by getting into Europe by a the back door' they just say 'fans/ players happy that they got into Europe.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Keep celebrating failure then Geoff.}

27 Feb 2017 17:36:29
Maybe so ed but I just hope you are fair enough to say the same to other clubs (i think West ham got in by finishing 7th last season) and not just letting it be a personal vendetta against Everton or Merseyside clubs as you put it earlier.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Absolutely, Liverpool are great celebrators of failure. West Ham fans don't know they got in to Europe because they were too busy whining like little girls - I'll break it to them soon.}

28 Feb 2017 00:08:27
Sooner get in 7th spot with the help of others than bend the rules and get a place in the Champions league by default.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Feb 2017 17:59:58
Am I right in assuming you are a Chelsea fan, ed?
You do realise there was a chelsea before abramovich who would have bitten your arm off to finish seventh and gained European entry?
Would you have celebrated that it told them to turn down the chance to play in Europe, regardless of how they got there?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I am a supporter rather than a fan and Chelsea had already qualified for the Champions League when Mr Abramovich purchased the club, so your attempts to yet again try and make it about somebody else are still very embarrassing.}

27 Feb 2017 19:44:17
I used to get wound up by Ed002's replies. But now I see them for exactly what they are. But I would not dare say what that is. just like I still don't understand the qualification criteria for the Europa League. I just can't grasp the rules as you explain them Ed? Dear me, perhaps I am being a bit stupid? So if we end up 6th and Man Utd are 9th, and Man City change their shirt sponsors. to be continued!

Agree0 Disagree2

{Ed002's Note - It is very clear and I don't understand why you are struggling. (a) The first three London based teams qualify for Europe regardless. (b) A northern team (or any other side supported by people who wear clogs and cloth caps) also qualifies to stop people thinking there is some sort of conspiracy. (c) The smaller Northern teams (such as Everton where the cloth-capped, hobnailed-booted, docker would normally be making his way, rattle in hand, to cheer on his team at Goodison on a Saturday afternoon) have the opportunity to qualify if the really, really big sides like Arsenal, Chelsea and Crystal Palace are kind enough to drop them some crumbs by winning the FA Cup and/or Milk Cup.

I hope that makes it much clearer Degsy.}
