Allerdyce was the perfect choice for us at the time, but he will have done his job by May. Then off he goes for me, I will promise yas now I will give up my season ticket which I have had for 20 years. I'm only 27 myself I'm sure a lot of yas has held your longer.

No chance will I sign upto watch this shambles for another season. No creativity. Rely on moments of magic. Look lost going forward. Defensively brilliant can't take that away from Sam like but it's not the Everton way. Certainly not the school of science.

So thanks Sam for the job you have done to steady the ship but for me personally. If he is still in charge next season I won't be going the game. Which will hurt me a lot I have not missed a game home or away for years.

Everton the Gear.

Then to be fair and this is honestly with the utmost respect you may as well go across the park and support the other lot. My Dad and his Dad supported them, I broke with tradition (ha) and have supported Everton for 60 years and my son does to. They are my Team and always will be, no matter whether it is big Sam, Koeman, the numpty before him, it doesn't matter. Managers come and go.

They are my team, but I expect a lot better from them. And I didn't grow up in the 80s when we ruled the league and cups. I was 5 when we won the FA Cup so too young. I got my ticket in 97 an have had it since.

But what I'm watching isn't something I agree with. It's not something I associate with Everton football club. We are better than that and I have appreciated the job he has done.

But I'm not into this Big Sam philosophy.

Just my opinion. I don't get the "might aswel go support the other lot" comment.

{Ed025's Note - im hoping this is temporary jimbo, no one wants to see guff like this served up every week and its certainly not the everton way, we need to give sam a bit of time to forge his own team and see how it goes from there, he has got us in what is a relatively safe position so there is no excuse once he gets some new faces in why we cant start to play some expansive football, lets not throw our toys out the pram just yet mate..

28 Dec 2017 08:38:37
Ed you are right and Jimbo. Sam Allergy has only been here half a dozen matches with a squad full of bad signings, injuries and kids. This has absolutely nothing to do with Sam Alleardyce. I remember Bolton signing Jay Jay Okotcha and Ivan Campo. Dean Holdsworth, Kevin Nolan, Pederson, Kevin Davies and many more. These were decent footballers. The garbage that Goodison Park is serving up now has very little to do with Allardyce. It has to do with a terrible transfer window. It has to do with a manager that signed too many players in one position and no-one in another position. It is about the previous manager before him who relied on one goalscorer and signed half a dozen bang average players. All Allardyce has done is come in. Watched one game. Understood that the squad was shot of confidence and was likely to get relegated if no drastic measures were taken. So took drastic measures and got some results. Believe me mate I wouldn't want to watch this long term. but I will suffer it for now whilst we plug all the holes, get rid of some ballast, get a new paint job and carry on sailing. Sinking does not sound a good alternative to me. COYB.

Spot on lad. Far better than my explanation/ comment. Jimbo as I said no disrespect intended and apologise if taken. What I meant was, you support your Team no matter what! That is my understanding of supporter loyalty. I can imagine how my Dad felt, when I gave him the metaphorical kick in the nads. Two weeks after my GrandSon walked out holding Jags hand (Everton V Young Boys) , I am driving down the road when he announced he was switching his support to that other lot. I still love him but it was a cloe run thing. LOL.

Sam Allergy (love it) , is keenly aware he is at the best club he’s been manager of. He will not want to blow this.

If he gets this right it will go along way to deflecting away the rank embarrassment he suffered with the England job.

If this is his last effort at management, which at his age it could well be, then he knows he can sign off with perhaps his best success in his long and colourful career.

It won’t be boring for much longer. I’d love to see what he can do with a decent budget and a couple of windows to spend it in.

Jimbo, with watching Everton for 27 seasons as a season ticket holder, have a look at Mike Walker, Walter smith, Martinez and Koeman, have a look at an unbalanced team shipping in 28 goals, then have a look at what Sam has had been left to work with, he has got the defence solid, without Baines or Coleman, he has been stuck with Calvert-Lewin as a loan striker, has got kids in Kenny, Holgate, Davies in the team, this is not Sams team, he gone flat out to ensure we get a striker early, the football is not pretty, but until he can balance the team and bring players in, and get injured players back, he has done a bloody good job, just be a little more patient.

To the posts below re defender, i reckon Sam has that base covered with James Thomkins to partner, not long to wait, maybe too long for some posters give Big Sam time,8 games no defeats.

I hope not he is a very average player that took a downward move from West Ham why would we go for him? There are much better players out there!
What’s frightening is that a year or so ago posters on here wanted shot of John Stones?
Perhaps that sums up the new breed of Everton fan?

I find the Tomkins talk laughable, I know people will bring out stats or say he’s done well at Palace.

He’s simply not as good as Mason Holgate don’t care what anyone says.

Agree1 Disagree1

28 Dec 2017 09:52:14
Remember Holgate is only 21. he will mature into a fine player if he avoids serious injury. Most center halves are not ready until 23 or 24. I am not sure I have an opinion on Tomkins, but I agree with you Swan that Holgate has a future. And at this moment he has a present requirement in our team.

If selected, will garbutt be able to play as of the 1st of jan?
He has a natural left foot, and even though his loans have not been a spectacular advert for his inclusion. He must surely be a better bet than the present occupant.

27 Dec 2017 15:09:23
We all don’t know what goes on behind closed doors. He certainly didn’t look out of place when he first came on the scene. Look at Flanagan at Liverpool, Billy Kenny years ago and we don’t know the reason behind the Barkley situation.
I really hope if Garbutt gets the opportunity in January he takes it. Martina is not a left back and in fairness to the lad he has played better since Sam has arrived I compared him to Earl Barrett the other day to my Dad. Defensively with one on ones he’s very good but going forward with the ball he looks lost and more so on the left.

Agree2 Disagree1

27 Dec 2017 16:29:44
My understanding is that Garbutt can be registered during the transfer window from Jan 1st. providing only 25 players are in the squad (under 21 players do not be needed to be included in the 25 limit) . Garbutt could then play providing 24 hours notice is given by the club before the game.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Dec 2017 18:29:33
Martina is clueless mate. The amount of times he gets caught out of position is embarrassing. Sig and Lennon spend all there time covering for him, which nullifies there attacking ability. Garbutt has to be given a chance, he really couldn’t do any worse.

What happened to Galloway.

27 Dec 2017 21:19:01
Galloway is still as poor at Sunderland.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Dec 2017 21:25:25
Galloway was okay until I watched him against Stoke a couple of seasons ago, you know the ridiculous game that they won 4-3 (I think) Galloway was taken apart by the little fella Boom Shakalaka.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Dec 2017 21:36:19
I thought Garbutt showed promise a few seasons ago but 3 managers have not agreed, again Browning and Galloway were promising but are permanently on loan, maybe time to move on and bring through players from the current U23 squad.

Agree0 Disagree0

28 Dec 2017 05:02:53
Galloway is a weird one because I don’t think he’s good enough on the ball to be a left back but don’t think he’s big enough or can jump high enough to be a centre back.

A few posters complaining about our recent performances I understand people’s frustration but we are still playing with an unbalanced squad with only one quality recognised striker DCL. Niasse gives 100% Ramirez either needs time to settle or will leave. DCL is going to be a top player but he needs someone with him to help him. I would like to see us eventually go back to 4-4-2. I go back to Graeme Sharp once Andy Gray signed they gelled and shared the work and goals between them, I was young at the time but I also remember towards the end of Sharpies career we played direct and he was isolated at wasn’t the force on his own.
I don’t have a problem playing direct football if it’s effective, sometimes it’s more exciting than possession based football. We played direct to Sharp, Rideout and Ferguson. There is nothing better than a winger taking a fullback on whipping a cross in for the striker to header in. I would like to see someone like Vardy with DCL but his age is a concern to pay so much money for a player you may only get 2 seasons out of but maybe he could take us to the next level to attract a higher calibre in that time.
We could have a golden generation coming through. Pickford, Kenny, Holgate, Keane, Garbutt?, Lookman, Baningime, Davies, Vlasic, DCL, Barkley.
All those players with Coleman, Gueye, Schneiderlin, Bolasie, Rooney to help them along the way. Exciting times if we can keep them together and add a couple of signings maybe Luke Shaw and Vardy.

8 games unbeaten Robbie. I said at the beginning that Big Sam would stabilise us and he has done that. Also honest about our requirements, no excuses, lies, or waffle and he is also spot on about January being difficult to get the player (s) we want. I am hopeful that as I said before that the Club have already identified and put unofficial wheels in motion ready for Monday Window.

Dembele maybe a player who is a realistic target and looks like Celtic are open to him moving. He couldn’t add to our young squad named above. Not only would it give us the chance of having a young team for years to come it always gives you a resale and getting some money back if it doesn’t work like Ramirez. My fingers are still crossed that one could still come good.

The reality is we're a poor side yet on paper probably the best outside the top 6 hence we finished so far above 8th last season (Take a look at last seasons table) .

What has happened is we're now closer or in the thick of 'the rest' which are a bunch of bang average sides at best of which we we're (possibly still are one of the worst "Teams") .

The shambles of the Koeman and Martinez era's are not a quick fix at which we may flirt with the top six. This is not Big Sam's mess so let's give him chance to see what he can do. He knows it's his biggest club and opportunity.

That is a great summary mate. I am afraid we are still reliant on players from the Moyes' reign. Baines, Coleman, Jags, Barkley (when fit) , Mirallas and even the return of Rooney. Out of this bunch we have a player returned for a swansong, one who wants to leave asap, 3 on literally their last legs and one who has an attitude that let's say does not mean he will be picked often! That is a total of 6 players still involved with the first team. We are many years on from Moyes, but the squad (Lukaku excepted) was reduced in quality during Martinez reign. Koeman seemed to be doing alright and then had the most horrific transfer window that ended up with us signing so many number 10's and not off loading the one desperate to get away. So my summary, is that the problemgoes back 4 seasons and we never got the calibre of kids in to succeed those players and now that we do have some decent kids signed, we are having to throw them in at the deep end. None of this letting them blood slowly and stuff. Just straight into a team that is unbalanced and lacking players with the ability to run at defenders. Bolasie should help on that. As Lennon does. And when Coleman is back. he too should help. I think we are treading water until Big Sam gets a couple in. Then we can start moaning if things are not improving.
