I've been reading the internet everyday all summer long, with only days left in the transfer window who are we realistically going to sign? I've been happy so far with new owner, d. o. f and manager and the signing he's/ they have made. I know it's not a sprint and things take time but with all the talk of a war chest and 200 million that could be spent and in reality we have not spent much more than what we sold stones for, I honestly expected a little more. Optimistic but frustrated!

It's not about how much we spend. It's about the players we sign. The four alone have improved us immensly. If it's just this it is enough for now.

Great start to the season 7pts out of 9 for a team that's getting used to new methods and it's only going to get better as season progresses, very sad to hear about the fan that lost his life today, thoughts with the family.
Well 2 weeks without a game now, I hate international football it's boring and not necessarily needed this early in the season it's just the start of another 2 year cycle of where we have a win percentage of 90+% and then we get put out of our misery forget qualifiers just have the 2 tournaments in the 4 years everyone in groups get the poorest quality of football out the way and move on.

Look at it this way mate, any new players we bring in and I hope there's a few, will have time to train and be bedded for the next game.

Supposedly the players we will bring in and already have brought in are themselves Internationals and will therefore be away with their respective National sides in this qualification period.

This guy in goal is mustard and whilst we talking about Coleman he's not assured with Holgate playing like he is.
We are in the mix here guys, I know it's early days but RK shows what a terrible waste the last three years have been.

Anyone know if Gerry was on the benchmark today? I thought he's had a good start to the season. I'd of put him on instead of Kone.
Go easy fellas it's my first post from a long time reader.

He was on the bench, but I feel the reason Kone came on was to hold the ball up and he is also disciplined with regards to helping out defensively.

For all the talk of Lukaku committing to us, he didn't look committed today. His work rate is still below what is expected by the manager I think. Looks like his Head is still not here. On a more positive note, young Holgate looks a talent and dare I say it can be a lot better than Stones. He didn't let Arnautovic get under his skin and bully him. The signs are their that we are moving in the right direction and Koeman stamp is getting integrated. Baines looks rejuvenated as does Mirallas, like 2 new signings. Williams was a rock today and was vocal throughout, his leadership and experience will be vital this season. Williams, Barry and Jags all have the experience to bring on the youngsters. Gueye again was immense and everywhere, and can see why Jimmy Mac isn't in the side as this fella does all the work Jimmy does but is also talented with the ball. Happy times ahead.

I'm not Lukaku's biggest fan in anyway but i thought today he was starting to look more like his best.

He is still short of fitness and sharpness but he came looking for the ball a lot more and worked the channels. He's still a couple of weeks away from being at his best but the signs are looking better.

We just have to get behind all of the players now that are staying.

As for Holgate he looks an absolute gem of a player. He's like a 20mil signing himself.

28 Aug 2016 01:51:33
Bit harsh on Rom tbf mate. He's not at full fitness yet, only one 90 min run out prior to today. He has lost his confidence a little bit in front of goal, seems to get caught in two minds at times, but he is getting in the positions and not hiding. We know he can score so it is just getting that first one and more will follow.

Thought young Jason Colgate had a great game today, man city must be thinking they bought the wrong ex Barnsley defender from us. His vision and all round ability are awesome, he reads the game so well for one so young. Hope he stays for a lot longer than Stones did.

Another great 3 points and how nice to go into international break with such positive feelings. 2 games in a row we have held onto one goal leads where I'm sure last season we would have conceded. Still clear we miss a clinical finisher but hopefully by Wednesday that will be sorted. How inviting to new recruits to see where we are in the league and to see the ambition we have. Been a long time since I've been such a happy blue. COYB.

{Ed025's Note - i just seen that as well mushy it would be good if the league ended today, hard fought win that today and although we were not great we did at least show spirit which was lacking last season mate..

The nerves from last season still affect me. Could hardly watch the last 10mins. No denying that was a massive 3 points.

To be fair today i can't have a go at Kone. Koeman saw we needed to hold that ball up at the front to take the pressure off and Kone did a fine job of it.

We do need a striker and I'm sure we'll get one. Who? It's anyones guess.

Was talking with lads in work when one of them said he thinks we should go acted chambers as he can give Coleman competition and also push for a centre back position. I laughed a Him at first but it could make sense he is young, English and probably won't cost much maybe even a loan deal. It could be my mates crazy has finally now got in my head now.

Anybody else had a look at Kevs interview on sky sports app? Gives a good honest interview and admits this is his make or break season. Also states that RK has the team doing a lot of running and pressing in training and expects every player to do that on the field. States that the previous manager just focaused on possession and had no faith in him, which comes as no surprise. Good to hear the players coming out and talking about how good the change is and how they look forward to the fight on the field.

I personally hope we get Sissoko from Newcastle. I rate him as a hard worker and tackler and he also has the ability to go forwards. Him and Gueye in the middle would scare the you know what out of most teams.

Hes decent degsy but only when he wants to be. was shocking for nufc all last season until benitez took over and now look at the strop he's having with them. Saying that he is a beast on his day and would add flair to centre midfield.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Aug 2016 10:40:12
To be fair to him, Newcastle were a shambles for three quarters of the seasonand in my opinion he still looked the one bit of quality. Koeman seems to have managed to shut Lukaku up. He seems to be a better man manager when the chips are down. so I would hope he could sort any hissy fits out from Sissoko. Then he is a very goodplayer to have.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Aug 2016 11:35:02
Yeah I agree degsy koeman should be able to manage him and if he is focused would be an asset.

27 Aug 2016 13:05:37
An on fire sissoko would be immense in our midfield. He showed in the euros what he's capable of. If rk trusts him enough to sign him that's good enough for me.
I hear a few saying his attitude sucks and he's inconsistent. Have we already forgotten some of our own players performances last season already.
What i'm trying to say is the difference already in our players fills me with confidence that should sissoko sign we will see the best of the guy.

What is apparent to me is that the new manager is a leader. He has come in and is not afraid to upset people. He will be ruthless if necessary. This is what the supporters wanted. Someone who would make decisions and lead and boss. Take the club forwards. We now have to hope that the football does indeed move forwards and the first 2 games have indicated that progress is being made. There will be dissapointments. let's hope the majority of fans stay behind him when these dissappointments arrive.

Agree0 Disagree1

27 Aug 2016 08:41:44
Dunno what you mean mate. I thought it was a positive post. It was supposed to be. Thing is. when let's say we have a poor performance (which every team has) will the fans still be behind him then? that's all I am saying. in my many years, I have seen supporters turn on managers like Howard Kendall, Colin Harvey and even Harry Catterick. So I know exactly how fickle they can be. But right now, things are looking good and everyone seems a darn site happier than 12 months ago.

27 Aug 2016 08:44:34
This is as happy as Degsy gets. Good post Degsy, although for me, I find it's best to enjoy the ride at the moment and see what happens. There's always disappointment in football, but these disappointments help us to truly savour the good times.

27 Aug 2016 08:50:16

27 Aug 2016 09:05:55
Degsy I know what your'e saying re ''fickle'' etc. However I truly believe RK has a great deal of trust from the fans mate as he is coming across as a 'I tell it as it is' kind of guy, which is a massive improvement on all the BS we got from the last, ahem 'leader' and I also truly believe that we will now get the 'Chemistry' we lacked throughout the squad too 😌.

Agree1 Disagree0

27 Aug 2016 10:46:17
Exactly what I was "trying" to say. The quality of players we are interested in also seems overall better. I have more trust in 1 month of Koeman than I had in 3 years of Martinez. I think Lukaku saved/ postponed the inevitable sacking of Martinez by 2 years. Lukaku was his 1 piece of brilliant management. Imagine where we would have been without all those goals. Whooo scares me. Koemanlooks like he will sort us defensively and midfield wise. Imagine those things sorted and the goals still popping in from Barkley and Lukaku. then a few more chipped in from central midfield. More importantly, other teams not being ableto throw players forwards at us to stop us dilly dallying around at the back. We can sit back then break with pace. Lukaku will have a field day and Barkley too.
