So Ed who would YOU like us to get for the No10 role?Cant say i'm not gutted about the Kiev lads deal fallin thru but now the plot thickens as to who else RM has in mind for that position.

alfter chelseas tapping up of john stone how good would it be if the now couldn't get a decent cb b4 tranfer window closes, poetic justice at its very best, no doubt they will sign someone tho, but if carling got involed you never know! "if carling made".

Now that we have nearly laid the Stones issue to rest. I really hope our Dynamic manager drops Barry from the starting 11.

Other than one lapse in concentration I thought Mo Besic played really well.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Hi Ed Bill Kenwright and Roberto are to be commended over this saga with J S to stick to their guns and put Chelsea firmly in their place is brilliant just hope the press report on this for the way Everton behaves, and hopefully we will get a few big signings in before the end of the window, just a word of thanks to all Eds for the great work you all do, many thanks GuernseyBlue

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i have to say guernsey, i thought they would crumble like so many before them, im so proud of how we have stood up to be counted and sent a message out to all of football that nobody bullies everton!, a couple of good signings and its christmas come early mate..

Am not bill's bigest fan, but fare play to him over Stones, just wish he had done it six weeks ago. Don't expect him to spend silly money, but it should at least match the stokes, w/hams, norwich, etc.

27 Aug 2015 21:10:31
Dude Wolfsburg are owned by VW and they are selling at the right price, after Chelsea man city, Barca, Madrid, psg and Bayern they are probably the richest club in Europe. The greatness of this stance is that it's trying to change the way transfers are perceived by all clubs.
This is a young lad who signed a 5 year deal something in him must have seen a future at everton otherwise why sign a 5 year deal?
Put your boots on and play end of.

I work in marketing and pr and I can not stress the genius of whoever wrote the Kenwright statement because it is brilliant on so many levels.
Regardless and I won't bore you as to why it's brilliant I am so proud to be part of the club that had essentially changed the landscape of football transfers moving forward.
It also makes our neighbours look pathetic over the Sterling sale, I guess they are now a selling club and we aren't.
Sod transfer incomings let's properly get behind them now regardless. We will have the backing of 18 clubs plus us, only Chelsea won't support us.
Can't wait to hear, read and see what the pundits have to say. They have to applaud. We are the 1st club in recent time to say f it, honour your contract lad. Shouldn't have signed it if you didn't believe in it. Here's your pay rise now play your socks off and all will be forgotten.
Cos if ya know ya history.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - good stuff svenny..

27 Aug 2015 21:08:55
love it svenny so much for being a selling club everton should be proud today this is why I love this club :)

Agree1 Disagree0

27 Aug 2015 21:30:29
Love it as well Svenny. Less is more as you know in marketing but so is timing.

I expect Everton to build on this over the next couple days with signings. A crest of a wave coming me thinks.

If you think that if this was released earlier it would have been forgotten by now. Again though they've done when they should have when Stones handed in his request as there is nothing more that can be done by either Stones or Chelsea.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Aug 2015 19:58:11
Running a brilliant idea on twitter at the mo, to sing in the ground. "I don't care too much for money(or Chelsea either works), Money can't buy John Stones, can't buy John Stoooones, No no no nooooo"! Also a banner for the plane "Cant buy John Stones", over GP v Chelsea and flying over Stamford Bridge too.

I don't know if anyone has seen the video concerning young Stones getting verbally abused, I know nobody wants him to leave but to verbally abuse the lad is out of order he has dealt by getting on with the job giving his all not like a spoilt brat like Sterling so come on let's all support the lad.

Believable6 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2015 21:03:51
For those passing insults /abuse to others is a disgrace. There is no room for it on this site, at Goodison or other grounds or in society. By all means criticise but not insult. One thing to remember , treat people as you expect to be treated yourself. I hope those responsible have the manners and decency to apologise publicly to those affected as comments made could have the opposite effect.
To all fans remember the club motto and while we look for this in the players let's all look for it in the fans. There is too much TV exposure today for situations to be covered over.
Hope John Stones comes through it all with no ill effects and gets back to the player we know him to be.

Just to get away from the circus a little more about last night. Barclay and Del look like they have grown up and can reach their full potential. Barclay held the ball well and broke with power and pace. Del is now a team player and much better for it, if he, s not making chances he, s drawing 2 or 3 defenders out of position a major force this year. Lukaku showed how good he is with the right service after Ross and Del came on and he responded and got better as the game went on. thgfest

Bill finally grown a pair an released a statement saying john is not for sale an rejects his transfer request

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2015 18:27:43
Magnificent statement. Wonderfully formal and personal at the same time. Exceptional use of words.
Well done Bobby for forcing the Bill in to that statement and well done bill for giving us what we crave, communication.
We will never turn our backs. If times are tough we get behind you. We just don't like the silence. We are the people's club and we need to act as one unit not two. It's not the club and the clubs fans it's the club. We are part of it.
Weirdly I would find it hypocritical for us to sign people now unless the club selling states they wanted to sell as it does seem ridiculous for us to stand so strong but then we force other people in to selling so I hope we bring people in but hope it is done correctly.
Love this club, you will never see a chairman releasing a statement like that from someone else. He's john he's ours and we will support him.
If anyone knows the **** shouting bile at him yesterday do me a favor will you, slap him in the chops from me.

Tim Vickery was on Talk Sh*t yesterday and had less than glowing reports on 3 of our target: leandro rodriguez was not good enough and would need a step ladder to help make up the gap in ability required for the prem, ramiro funes mori was slow, has poor positioning, poor distribution with his feet and reminded him of a player Wigan purchased and was a reason for their relagation, fazio was basically laughed about as he is that poor and would be a disaster with Mori.

Just one man's views but he knows hus South American players.

YARMOLENKO has just been interviewed and was asked "There are a lot of rumors about your potential transfer. Can you clear things up?" His reply, "I guess I won't leave the team as the transfer window will close soon. My contract will be valid for one more year and I'm going to work hard. We'll see what happens in winter. I can only say that Everton FC were really interested in me. When I put Dynamo shirt on it means a world to me! That's why I can't skip training sessions or boycott matches. I'm not that kind of person."

One very positive sign early on this year is Everton coming from behind to take something from games. Last season Everton lost a lot of points in games when we were ahead during the game. We'd go 1 or 2 up and then end up drawing or even losing them games. This season against Watford we went 2 down which was dreadful I know but the players had the fight to come back and take something from the game. The same last night. Never say die attitude can go along way in the determining how well the season goes. Nice to see last years trend reversing.

Also how good was Del boy last night! Even linking up with Miralles on the other wing. Best team for me is Howard, Coleman Jag Stones Oviedo, McCarthy Besic, Miralles Barkley Del boy, Lukaku. If we add to that over next week then great. Think a striker would be no harm to keep Lukaku on his toes for the whole season. He even knows he's a shoe in on the team sheet for every game

Believable1 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2015 18:10:54
never thought I say this but right now I would pick clev over besic :)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - really?, clevs works hard enough coby but achieves very little for me, besic can be a loose cannon at times but will get up and down and sprayed some really good passes last night..but its all about opinions mate..

27 Aug 2015 18:14:31
I think cleverly's positional play and vision has been excellent. Wouldn't want to drop him, but I also agree on the width.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Aug 2015 19:42:35
I actually agreed with the signing of Clev when Everton signed him. He is a better player that a lot of people give him credit for. All it takes is for a few people to give out about him and then other people think its fashionable or whatever to do the same. That being said I think Besic has the potential to be a better player. Wishful thinking though. I have a feeling Clev is the new Barry and Martinez will play him in every game if he's not injured

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - clevs has done well up to now NBTB, but i think your right about him playing whatever his form..

27 Aug 2015 21:25:53

Just going to clear a few things that I see happening
Stones will stay, we will end up with 3 signings by end of deadline day one of them will be a 15-20m marquee player, to protect board and calm fans down till January now it's starts to get interesting our board have been waitin for another boom in the riches of prem league more investment is on the way to prem league once again they are sat there waiting to sell up and make a tidy fortune the club would of doubled in value since they took over without much investment they bought low sold high and paid of clubs debts with it now leaving pretty much a debt free club they all walk away richer than when they walked in, but Bill is a true blue and he wants good for club
But out to happen within 12-18months hold me too it that's me looking at it from a business point of view,

Believable1 Unbelievable1

27 Aug 2015 14:46:07
I can't see much wrong with that Truebluemetz. All your comments point to one fact that the club has been well run financially with limited investment. That's seems like a compliment to all involved because how many other clubs out there made the same achievement you have outlined there?

27 Aug 2015 12:59:49
I personally think it is now time to let the so called Top Clubs breakaway and form their own Super League with the top (rich) Clubs from Spain, Italy, Germany & France.and then let's see how many supporters from these Clubs will still be able to afford to follow them to weekly away games across Europe? Chelsea with Abramovitch Man City with Sheik Mansour Everton with The Glazer Family are just completely ruining football as we know it! It is no longer a sport, it is a huge business to those who can and are using it as their personal "toy/hobby". purely because they can. They are just buying up any footballer they want at any time & then they can move them on if they don't actually improve their teams. Mourinho still making adamant & confident claims today that he will still have Stones through the door before the deadline. Poaching in life is illegal as far as I know but Chelsea & City are just making football in this country a farce. It comes to something really sad & sick when clubs like Everton, Spurs& even in some cases Liverpool are resigned to making the Capitol One Cup & the FA Cup seasons priorities.along with an aim for a top 6 finish to qualify for the UEFA Cup. is that it?? These money clubs are making multi millionaires out of some mediocre players from all over the world in the name of sport/entertainment. what a sad state of affairs. As in life it is all about the haves and the have Nots. am I jealous? Yes, am little but not to the extent of the game I have played and loved over many years being brought to its knees and preventing the average fella in the street not being able to afford to go watch his team.

Believable2 Unbelievable3

{Ed025's Note - good post that GV..except for the "everton with the glazer family" bit, but im sure you meant utd mate..

27 Aug 2015 15:06:29
Some very valid points made Golden Vision, football is more a commercial venture now. Having travelling away fans that can't afford to go to matches is pretty irrelevant they don't bring in much income and the seats can usually be filled by home supporters. The atmosphere within the grounds will probably suffer form the fans point of view but the home players would more than likely prefer having a less vocal away support.

ed's is there someone mischievously changing Man U to Everton? its a mistake that seems to be happening quite frequently at present.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i cant see why sa, but it has happened too much for my liking mate, i will ask our IT guy about it...of course my liverpool mates will say its not a mistake at all.. :)

If they formed a super Euro league then the EPL would become another backwater for hasbeens 'in the shop window' wannabes and downright second raters

It's all gone a bit quiet with activity on the transfer scene for Everton, if we sign these 2south Americans that's a very poor transfer window, both not tested in European football, I just think RM is getting desperate if that's the best we can get, we started off with cleverly and delouf and all looked great, now it's looking very very poor, if we get yabbadabbdokof then I will be happy but I think it's all another big bluff, oh we tried so hard to bring the player in till the last minute, sorry that's bulll, if it's that hard to get a player then he's not for us, we want players who want to come not see what there options are, we can't just have one option,

Believable1 Unbelievable0

27 Aug 2015 11:31:43
Not been the biggest fan of Roberto but that was down to his tactics. Lots of respect to him how he handled yesterdays interview and how stubborn he is to keep our prized asset. Also well done to him for actually being bold and making the decisions that needed to be made bringing Barkley and good on at half time.

On Stones, I think the treatment from that so called 'fan' was pathetic. it was like he had paid the ticket price and travelled just to hurl abuse at him. Embarrassing, I'm glad its the minority. we don't need fans like that.

Stones has acted impeccably during this saga and it can't be easy at such a young age. I'm confident he will stay and I'm sure 95% of fans will get behind him. he is a professional, and will continue to give his all. much like Suarez when his transfer request was rejected.

What an epic cup tie, that's what its all about. We look so much better when we have GD, Barkley, Lukaku and KM on the pitch at the same time. I hope they start against spurs. but I would be surprised if they all did.

If not then I will join the protesters and anti board groups!

And now several people were saying he was crying when pressured by Evertonians on his future after the game :(. Feel really sorry for the lad, I don't think he has thought the whole thing through, cannot be easy turning the TV on everyday and seeing your name mentioned everywhere with so much speculation. I do get the feeling he really does love the club and has no idea what to do. This is a time when someone like Martinez, McCarthy, Baines or Naismith need to have a word with him and give him a bit of help. He's clearly gutted with how it is all turning out, it may sound like I'm clutching at straws but I'm not, I honestly do not think he thought it through. I think he has rushed into it all. Hope Mourinho, Terry and Cahill are happy, seeing as how he is staying, thanks to their actions Stones is probably terrified of the season ahead with all the abuse he will be getting. They should be ashamed, it's one thing trying to unsettle a player and it is another thing to destroy his standing with his current club when they were not even certain of getting him. Hope the manager, staff and most importantly the players look after him. After my rushed reaction after the transfer request my whole standpoint has honestly changed, feel so sorry for him. Hope he gets a boss reception against Chelsea, he is the best young Centre Back in Europe for me, if we have any hope of him wanting to stay then he needs our love and support, not vile abuse!. It is important we try to match his ambitions, we need to get some players in and have a good season. I fear Stones going will open the door for a mass fire sale. He's a nice lad clearly and it's awful the situation he is in. I don't blame him, I blame Mourinho and his sick tactics to try and get him. The media certainly haven't helped. So please lads, if you go the game, don't go spurting all sorts of hatred towards him. Support him and show we are better then those twisted weirdo's in that video.

Also, well done Roberto Martinez! Great post match press conference, we all needed that.

Agree 100% with Swans post. I seriously believe some fans want us to sell our players as they love to boo and hate. Treat the lads with respect and love they deserve and as RM has stated this could be a golden generation for Everton - which other team has the quality in youth that we have without buying it

Agree0 Disagree1

27 Aug 2015 12:05:27
Martinez's line 'sometimes money can't buy you what you want.' Brilliant dig at Chelsea and the other billionaire teams, let's just hope we stand strong and convince Stones that he should stay at us.

Agree1 Disagree0

27 Aug 2015 12:50:55
I'm still not happy about how he has gone about the request (timing etc) but he is probably just a confused young lad who doesn't know what to do for the best. Probably acting on the advice of agents etc who just want to make their own wedge of money.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - agents are the bane of my life tommy..blood sucking leeches who are draining the game dry mate..

27 Aug 2015 09:27:02
Am I the only one thinking this Stones saga has gone a bit sour? Everton fans want him to stay but the moment he asks for a transfer request they call him a rat.It was only Sunday he got a massive roar when his name got called out and people where cheering him on loving him, then 3 days later they hate him. Talk about fickle! and I already know i'm going to get slated for saying that but its true. Everyone says get behind the team but a good 80% of our fans slag most the team off. I remember people last season saying Lukaku an Barkley were rubbish sell them hahahaha they're the future of this club!! give them time to grow in the game!!

Believable2 Unbelievable1

Just seen a video of Stones walking off the pitch at half time and some fool calling him an effing rat and telling him to eff off. I said he deserved what he gets, that was in the heat of the moment, I actually feel sorry for the lad now. No need, could tell hale heard it all too. A man, a fully grown man actually shouted to him 'John Terry's going to **** your bird'. Remember in my ratings for the City game when I explained why we can't have nice things because of some of the fans. This is it. That was completely uncalled for, the lads head is all over the place and the tossers who went to Barnsley today, let's be honest, some probably only went there to have a go. Shameful and embarrassing, shame he is not on social media to at least give him a bit of support and explain not all of us are like that. he's 21!!, animals, complete disgrace. You know I don't like players being abused personally, I get booing an opposite player, just not our own player, least of all shouting all sorts at our young player who we want to keep. Hope the 2 d*ckh**ds got home to find John Terry in bed with their wives, if they have them, god help anyone who has to put up with that. I am changing my mind on the whole situation a bit because I'm not fully convinced he wants to leave. I think he wants to go to Chelsea but I don't think he wants to leave Everton if that makes any sense. Honestly disgusting behaviour by those tits.

Good one Swanny. I also get the impression he wants to go to top club, at the moment Chelsea, but also feels he wants to be loyal to Everton and probably doesn't want to leave. This is a strong case for an old head to give advice without money coming into it. Someone like Joe Royal Peter Reid Bobby Charlton to give advice or even have word with Moyes.
I maintain the best outcome is he stays one more season with the club promise he can go next summer subject to satisfactory offers.

Agree1 Disagree0

27 Aug 2015 09:32:02
Here are my observations on the Stones saga.
From what RM said last night he will reject Stones transfer request and he will not be sold this gives me the impression that he has not actually handed the request in yet. So it must be sitting on the desk of the reliable ssn desk and he has just forgotten to pass it on. I may be being a bit cynical but surely the best way to get a player who is undecided what to do is to get his supporters to start slagging him off when he plays matches and make him feel like he is hated by the fans. I find it totally baffling why anyone would actually think that the so called media know anything about what is happening and react in such a disgusting manner. From what I have seen and heard from the club they have consistently stated Stones is not for sale and will not be sold, yet everyday the media continually insist Chelsea want Stones and therefore it will be a done deal. Its common knowledge Chelsea have so far put in 3 bids all have been rejected no fourth bid yet. However, we now have so called EFC supporters slagging off one of our best players, which will at best distract Stones and affect his performance at worst convince him that EFC is not the family club full of fantastic supporters and not an attractive place to be. To me it looks like the media holds more sway with the fans than the club but its up to you who to believe! All I would say is please don't help Chelsea's cause by acting on unsubstantiated stories. At least wait till it is an actual fact.

Even if stones stays we need cover at centre back. i'm starting to think the board believe galloway browning and holgate can cover. I've said it from the day we signed him, get rid of mcgeady he wouldn't get a game at barnsley, who were great tonight by the way, hope they get promoted to championship. Martinez really can't coach a defence and I worry about recruitment at the back.

This site is becoming worse every day! Honestly, too many people are acting like spoilt, self-entitled brats! Quite frankly it's becoming ridiculous now. Moaning about everything and everyone concerned with the club. There is a saying something along the lines of "people getting the government they deserve". Well I think that applies to many of the fans on this site. So if our club has become a ridiculous shambles as you suggest, how can you expect any different when our 'fans' are no better. Wake up! Sadly we are not Barcelona Real Chelsea etc. We are what we are. But this ridiculous behaviour is achieving nothing and will only tear this club apart! We are without doubt a far better team and a healthier club financially than we were 10-15 yrs ago the sooner people realize that the better. But without a billionaire sugar daddy we are not going to become Barcelona overnight. However we are moving in the right direction however slowly and frustrating that might be. Stop all this moaning. Can you really blame Stones for wanting to leave this crap behind? Your moaning and booing doesn't help anyone especially the players on the pitch and will result in other players making the same decision! Time to grow up people and stop throwing your toys out of the pram every time we don't win 3-0 or miss out on a player! I know one thing if I was a player being courted by the club and saw banners flying over the stadium and being displayed around the ground I would certainly go elsewhere. Stop this damaging nonsense and get behind the team we have! You're helping no one!!

First up what a game football suppose to be entertaining well we had that tonight but not one for supporters.
Hats of to Barnsley they were superb played great football all across the pitch be very surprised if they don't get promoted if that's how they turn out on a Saturday.
Now back to our lot, where to start

Robles- get rid he needs to play week in week out as last season he had a spell where he had a run of decent games after few mistakes but he is not good enough even to be our no 2, made a wicked save in extra time but at fault for 2nd goal rather try our 3rd keeper to be honest who ever that is, it's a position we need as Howard not that reliable any more.

Pennington- felt sorry for lad did not do much wrong but changes needed to be made, but hope he gets a chance again soon

Stones- credit to him playing, got the feeling he was not concentrating mind slightly somewhere else, don't know why he jumped over ball, head has been turned but get the feeling he won't throw toys out pram if he does not go to Chelsea.

Jags- made some good challenges but he needs to start being a leader and organise this defence cause it's a shambles at times they only had 3 or 4 shots on target and scored 3 but was not comfortable in defence.

Oviedo- back after along lay of but he is not good enough with everyone at club he would be 4th choice, I hope he can have a good career but not at prem level, I think it's best for him and club to part ways, I was not expecting him to be great but he looked lost done every time, basic defending.

Basic- I love him, the type we need, he should play more he can tackle yes he will pick up cards cause of how he plays but at moment I would have him say infront of our back 4 they need protecting he could do a massive job on players like the one that needed doing on silva on Sunday, needs to play more tidy in possession as well.

Cleverly- did not have the best of games but he gives 100% every time where ever asked to play, I thought it was a good signing especially free fits into squad well.

Mcgeady- rubbish get rid another one not good enough has enough talent but not a prem player Scottish football is made for him, bit like Oviedo he would be 3rd 4th choice bet he is on 50k+ as well if not more.

Mirralas- great finish glad he is staying like he can play on both sides done a lot of roaming around coming deep for the ball, since arriving has done well apart from silly pen incident last season which I hope he does not do silly again, important season we need him to get 12-15 goals this year.

Naismith- I like him you know he is not no 1 on team sheet but he is the most important squad player we have will get us goals but not a starter only in certain games but he works hard, gets into great positions,

Lukaku- first touch surely they work on it in training he be so much better if he could get better, first half it runs away from him or his lay offs are awful then 2nd half he takes it and turns his opponent don't get it, but he will get goals if supplied could of had hat trick, big season needs to hit 20-25 prem goals if we're to have a successful season possible if giving supply like tonight.

Del Boy- game changer that's what he is, talent in abundance made 3 goals tonight and should of scored as well but he supplied so many crosses Lukaku will get goals if the supply comes in like that, he gets lots of assists, give him a run of games boy needs to get confidence going start him Saturday.

Barkley- he changed the game no two ways about it he came on and did what I want him to do influence games and doing it from deep and that's what he done for me he has to be a central midfielder so he can drive at defences, he came on and bossed the game, good to see he is working on decision making so improved, did not have shooting boots on though tonight, he can get 12-15 goals in prem this season such a big season for him but I believe this is the season Ross Barkley becomes world class. He has everything you want in a footballer.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed003's Note - Well done for giving Barnsley credit,It was a good match to watch.}

27 Aug 2015 06:44:26
disagree on oviedo, the bloke needs match time. Like Osman, Oviedo is one of the best ball players at the Club. I see his position as in front of Garbutt (why leave him out on loan) or Baines (once fit).

Agree2 Disagree0

27 Aug 2015 09:44:30
All the squad players looked really rusty, they need to get more game time to up their level of performance. If you look at Pennington he played well but he plays matches most weeks Robles and Oviedo stood out for me as under performers we have actually seen how good they have been so their under performance, IMO, was magnified. They only player that I felt has consistently not been of PM standard was McGeedy.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Aug 2015 11:00:45
But they ain't going to get game time are they you happy for them to start Saturday and then Chelsea cause if not then they won't play for a month, so where do you see Oviedo playing in future left back, don't make me laugh best ball player there is at club, he could not even track is man last night ball watching that's basic defending, and I'm not having a go at the lad, his injuries were bad but this is prem you can't carry passengers In the squad, I like Gibson I think when fit he first name on sheet cause what he provides and we don't loose many when he's playing but he is a wage collector that will never play more than 5-10 games a season, need to get those wages off books
Oviedo 40k
Gibson 50k
Mcgeady 40k
Our squad players don't do enough to earn there money so get rid, especially mcgeady he ain't eve injured just rubbish worst buy from Martinez reason I did not put Kone in is because he has not had chance yet
