Are there any posters out there who are regular watchers of our U-21 and/or U-18 teams? If so, do any of the goalkeepers look that they have it in them to develop into Premier League quality and become first-team regulars?
Also, does anyone have any genuine first-hand info from the club coaches & other insiders about which of the U-21 and U-18 players (outfield as well as goalkeepers) are regarded as genuine prospects. Historically, most youngsters don't break through at Everton - just 1 or 2 actually make it every few years at the very most. Hopefully that'll change for the better soon and we'll have more young talent coming through to the first team squad. At least many of our former youngsters make a living at other(usually lower tier) clubs.

{Ed025's Note - i dont know tp...but i will guess at ray clemence..

27 Mar 2015 17:00:44
Ed025: Surely Clemence was born in Skegness and signed from Scunthorpe United by the darkside?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - as i said sid it was a pure guess, i thought he had a scouse accent so that swayed me mate...not the first time iv been wrong mate..

27 Mar 2015 17:16:47
Possibly Andy Rankin for Everton. Ray Clemence is not a scouser - he signed from Scunthorpe!

{Ed025's Note - that just proves how much i know pip.. :)

So WBA are playing their next home game in the 1968 Cup Final kit (complete with red socks) as a tribute to Jeff Astle.
Perhaps against Southampton we should play in amber .
We could call it Jimmy Husband Day.
Now hopefully Jimmy is still alive and kicking however on that sunny afternoon in 68, I could have killed him!
Will leave it to older posters to explain that to the kids!

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - jimmy is alive and kicking in milton keynes mushy...legend..

26 Mar 2015 20:10:28
Mushy: I remember the gut-wrenching disappointment of losing that final - and then losing the semi-final the following season. As for Jimmy Husband's miss, that was bad, but the whole team didn't perform well enough that day. I suspect that we were over-confident having tonked them 6-2 in the league at their place earlier in the season. At least we went on to play some great stuff the following season and then won the league a further year on from that.

Different days then. Was allowed to go myself as a 15 year old. Remember travelling via Crosville Bus from Edge Lane. Buses used to leave from early hours and must have been at Wembley about 7am!
Thought the game would be a formality after we had recently battered them but it never turned out that way. Consoled myself that at least I was there in '66. Winning the cup then is a far better memory than England winning the World Cup the same year.
Btw Mushy remember reading your recent post about customer service where you work and was wondering if our paths may have crossed at some point?

I joined up in 1966, start of my career, Everton won the FA Cup and England won the World Cup, England went downhill from there, rather like yours truly. ;-)

Good to see Green out on loan to get first team football but it's alarming that very few of our graduates making it to first team, to be honest when we signed green at 15 I thought he would be around first team by 19, there maybe other reasons for this than just his ability from what I hear he top drawer but physical side has not progressed along with a couple of bad injuries that set him back, but has all the talent so let's hope he can get that on loan at tranmere and hopefully we see him at Goodson soon after. Although I have been annoyed with our season I think as a club we have learnt a lot or should of done but I have a feeling we will be hungry to put this season behind us when we kick off new season providing we stay up. Need a clear out in summer I think to many players picking up 40 50 60 k not even playing
Out:

Peanuts

1.D.inges will most likely go to liverpool
2.caulker is poo.
3.Keep Hibbo as back up until Browning is ready.
4.Don't sell coleman full stop, best RB in the leauge
5. Mcgeady + peanuts must go = combined 2-5m
6.Distin + Alcaraz both gone on a free
7. both loans go back
8. Kone as not getting younger
9. Changed my mind, keep Barry for helping and guiding the youngster along and cover for last 20mins in games for eith Besic or Mcgod
10.sell either Baines 17m+ or Obaby 6m+, don't need 3 good LB's
11. sell Mirralas not been with us now for last year heads turned, 10m
BIG ONE. Get garbutt a new contract NOW
so say? sell Baines, Mirralas, Peanuts, Mcgeady, Kone. that could give us 30m+ before our budget is touched 30m-35m?

so could be around 60m

so with that we need
2 CB's = 15m - 20m
3 Wingers = Awye Free and 15m-20m for 2 more
2 younger Hungry Strikers for around 10m
and a AK mid 10m?(but maybe think we can't afford a class one to compete with Barkley)

a massive overhaul but would give us a good younger squad to use for a few years

but what do us Fans know

{Ed025's Note - sounds like you have it sorted yorkie...if you replace bobby next season i will back you all the way mate..the same as i have martinez.. :)

the issue with green is he is a free spirit (the words used when I asked about his progress last year), he is very talented and should have been in or around the team now, but takes it as it comes kind of guy, I personally dnt know just what I was told which sort of makes sense as I have seen what he could do at 15-16 and he was v.v.good, made it look easy. a loan move will hopefully make him see what he has and he relises he has a opportunity to live a dream

I agree we need new faces, I think Mirallas, Distin and Pienaar will leave but doubt we will have anywhere near £60m to spend. I'd like to see a new CB come in, Umtiti from Lyon would be a great shout but wether we could attract him after this season remains to be seen. Ayew on a free would be a great signing, i'd bring back Lennon for the right price and do all I could to get Garbutt signed long term even if that means letting Oviedo go. Up top, being realistic Charlie Austin could be worth a try as I think QPR will be relegated and he should be available at a reasonable price. As for a goalkeeper it does need to be addressed as for who to bring in I'm not to sure. I think Barkley will come good again next year and will a few additions we have a decent young spine in Stones, Besic, McCarthy, Barkley and Lukaku. I am gutted about this season, there seems like little left to get excited about, I thought Martinez should of gone a little while back but that's not going to happen, I just hope if he stays he spends whatever money we have wisely and works on a plan B!

He needs to get his head out the clouds because he will prob sign some mcgeady, Alcaraz type players talk about how he's got the wage bill down and continue were he left off from this year, I'd say barkley needs a bereak aswell, his performances have dropped down to confidence and his legs going aswell but he has played a lot for last couple seasons and after injurys been dropped striaght back in which can't help. Bill needs to open his mouth aswell it's ok reaping the headlines but the guy has been hibernating since October

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i suspect bill is waiting until the end of the season mike, it looks likely that we will be safe now but i agree with you that his silence has been deafening. ross for me has been very disappointing this season, i think he needs to re-evaluate his game as he loses the ball too often, i just hope he is not believing all the hype about himself because he has been one of the main under-achievers who have turned this season into a debacle mate..

27 Mar 2015 12:14:37
Out:

Peanuts-not unless we get someone better.
Hibbert-our only other right back as brownings a centre back.
Mcgeady-completely agree
Distin-deffo
Alcaraz-yes

Players who may want out

Mirralas- 15-20m-wont get that much, about 12m
Lukaku- 35m min regardless weather he is worth that-wouldnt sell him at all unless he wants to go.
Coleman 20m-wouldnt get that much and wouldn't sell unless we get someone better.

Players in

Lennon-5-8m-yes
Delph-10m-dont rate him personally, headless chicken.
D.Inges-15m-hes free? don't want him anyway, he's too injury prone and i'd rather we went for austin
Caulker-10m-hes garbage.
Schmiechal-just because of his dad people assume he's good?, concedes stupid stupid stupid goals, like howard and is currently injured, unfortunately not like howard

oh and can we cut the crap with barkley please? not only is he awful but has an anti footballing mind, doesn't see passes and doesn't understand do tactics or have any sort of footballing intelligence, i'd sell him to ANYONE (including liverpool) for anything

Swan: re:Barkley

On this seasons performance, I would have to agree with every word you typed mate .

However there is this sneaky feeling I have, that if Ross had the correct coaching and mentoring he might just might become a star footballer .

Anti footballing minds a bit strong, half the players don't know whether there coming or going this season I think anyone would be anti football coming into our team this year not to mention hearing every boo when u mess up because RM has sedated the crowd

Junior out on loan to Port Vale and George Green to Tranmere. Let's see if Green can kick on and produce the same form that made us sign him. Junior for me is like Lundstram. Looks like they both don't have futures at the club. Lundstram has been dropping down the divisions at a alarming rate, because he couldn't get a game in a poor championship side and then in a league 1 side.

A real example of RM's lack of plan B must be the fact we have only two strikers meaning he had one to replace if the other one got injured, so his intention was never to deviate from the 4-2-3-1 formation as we didn't have enough strikers for a 4-4-2 on a permanent basis, what is worrying is that Lukaku has an injury that will hopefully clear up at the end of the international break in a weeks time, if it doesn't then we have Kone!
Another worry is that I can foresee us staying up and BK giving RM another term in office as this one was a blip as a result of fixture pile up, travelling across Europe, small squad, phenomenal opposition and the crisis in the middle east!

If kenwright persists with this conman, all that is left to us, is to vote with our feet. Won't be ease, everton is a big part of my life, but better than watching this d. head, suck the life out of it in persuit of his "principals".

Robbie, Ed :

There is a lot of faith out there for RM,

however even the guys who don't like the sacking option etc. well from what I can see, those fans still demand a change of style and more adaptability from him.

Coupled with what I would describe in my honest opinion the majority of Everton fans who want RM sacked including myself, this will eventually make his position untenable with BK.

Bottom line is that we again were totally unprepared in terms of tactical ability also squad quality and depth to compete on any level this season!
