Hi guys. why are we fighting over a couple of million pound for Sigi. We now have shown our hand by stating Ross is leaving 100%, this gives Swansea even more power to negotiate what they want. If Sigi is our no 1 target, let's get the deal done, sell Ross and 're coup most of the cash back, otherwise I can see spurs getting him late on the cheap.

I still think we will land Siggerson Thursday and parade him before the Europa league tie, that's my feeling anyway, get the crowd behind them and a feel good factor for the match.

Everton U-18s defeated Burnley U-18s 3-1 in the final of the Generali CeeCup tournament in Prague this afternoon.
The match was broadcast live on YouTube, so no commentary - just the noise from the modestly sized but vociferous Czech crowd and the sideline shouts from the coaches.
Well-taken goals by Tom Warren (with two) and Ellis Sims gave us a well-deserved victory.
We were the better team throughout, playing with control, determination, pace and energy, apart from a short period midway during the second half when we seemed to sit back and Burnley scored to make it 2-1, but within five minutes we scored our third. (Shades of our 1985 ECWC final win in that scoring sequence! )
Time will tell if these players can develop the physical and mental toughness to cope with first team football. Our U23s are strong - and actively recruiting talent - so our U18s will have to do well to progress to U23 level let alone to our first team.
Anthony Gordon caught my eye in this match and I wasn't surprised that he was named Player of the Tournament.
Ellis Sims, with six goals overall, was named Goalscorer of the tournament.
Nico Hansen was assured in goal. (By the way, the Goalkeeper of the Tournament was awarded to the Burnley lad. )
Everyone of our other players also did well and contributed to our victory.
Everton were coached by Paul Tait. It was unusual not to have Kevin Sheedy involved. Does anyone really know why he quit the other week?
Here's hoping that the successes of our U18 and U23 sides can be matched by RK's first team very soon.

So knowing Swansea will not give Sigurdson up for less than 50 mill, we make the equivalent of a 45 mill bid and they reject it. The extra 5 mill it would appear has stretched our coffers to much.

No just testing their resolve. Count the money onto the table slowly and deliberately and see if they start to salivate.

27 Jul 2017 12:17:09
Even if we are stuppid enough to cave and agree their rediculas 50m, what's the betting that they then start demanding the full fee up frount, or want to start adding on agentss fees, or the players leaving fee (which he should recive from his own club) , givern some crative accounting they will soon have their demands past the 60mill mark, time to tell them to f. off, he's good, but for that kind of cash we could have a real world class player, 24/ 25, and in his prime.

Does anyone think we will bring in another striker, Giroud looks like he's staying at arsenal and benteke looks like he's staying at palace, seen we've been linked to silami sorry about spelling, but can't see him coming to us after one season.

Koeman today stated he's looking for a replacement for lukaku and mori. and possibly one other.

26 Jul 2017 15:27:59
with Koeman confirming no bids for Barkely looks as though clubs are going to wait for Him until towards the end of the window, which sadly means we won't get what he is worth.50 mil was just a figure plucked out of the air. but it would be nice to get at least half that sum. let. s hope there is more than one club scavenging around in a few weeks so there is a little bidding war. I can't help feeling that a bit of tapping up has gone on behind the scenes for ross to be confident of getting a champions league club and to stick to his stance. that through another player friend he has been told to sit tight and wait for them to come in as Everton's bargaining position weakens (probably spurs) towards the end of august. If that is not the case he is certainly playing a high risk game because if he doesn't get an option he wants, he won't just slot in anymore here after the blues signings are complete. while he has natural talent, he was talked up way too much by Martinez. Ballack comparisons were embarrassing. and he needed someone to tell him to use his head more in thinking out the game. Koeman tried that and unfortunately looks as though the player wasn't able to accept criticism and work harder. He may thrive elsewhere but like others I wonder if it will be another tale of leaving the blues only later to regret he hadn't listened to common sense.

Interested to hear why you all think he hasn't pushed on, he burst onto the scene but seems to have at best stood still, possibly regressed. I used to really rate him but recently he seems to have dropped off a lot. One of the Eds suggested his lifestyle isn't great and he doesn't take care of himself.

If there are no offers I guess he will sit tight until January, right now I don't see how he gets into a Champions League team.

Is there any chance at all that Barkley could consider a new contract offer with an agreeable release clause? For a local lad who supposedly loves the club, wouldn't he want us to get a fee, even if it was £15m. The price wouldn't put off potential suitors, he would still get his money and we don't completely lose out. Or would he pocket a nice chunk of change for being a free agent?

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Jul 2017 16:49:41
Yes he is now a grown Man and no doubt talented. Expectations in my view were way over the top by some supporters and hence the abuse the lad got at some home games quite uncalled for.

Agree0 Disagree2

26 Jul 2017 18:28:47
It is the boys to men situation. Growing up with other kids it's easy to be "king of the kids".

It happens with all starlets, not unique to Ross and I hope his next move is the making of him.

Rooney is a great example of how to keep progressing, keep pushing the boundaries and striving for improvement. In his short time back home it has been documented how well he leads and sets a good example, especially with the kids.

Some, and I'm not saying it's the case with Ross, think when they make the first team that's it I'm a superstar now (remember Cadamaterri) .

When you go from being the big noise in a select group to mixing with seasoned pros and internationals some fail to progress. Some go on to have good careers as pros.

The problem with Ross is he has the potential and ability to be a top drawer player. Is his head right, does he get bad advice, does he mix in the wrong circles I don't know.

His move, and he will move, will either make or break him, another Rooney or another Rodwell?

I hope he becomes a fantastic player and shows everyone he can do it even for another challenging club. Even with all his Man Utd years I have always admired and been proud of Rooney, Why?, because he's one of ours as is Ross.

Good luck son and let's hope you become one of the best players we have ever produced.

Well said Young Guns.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Jul 2017 20:30:02
Good post Young Guns although I disagree wth your view of Rooney. He may have matured but he often turned up for pre season overweight and the general view was he didn't put in the hours that some of the more committed players did.

We have debated him at length on the United page, he has broken records, will go down as legend but generally most feel he never delivered to hs potential. Harsh possibibly but a widely held view. I hope the move back to Everton gives him a new lease of life.

As for Ross, he's clearly a talented boy, perhaps he needs a fresh challenge (assuming he has the right attitude) .

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Jul 2017 21:10:11
Ross's confidence is fragile. It's a shame Martinez was manager as due to his incompetence we became a spiteful audience. As Ross was one of our own on the pitch he was the focal point of hatred by the fans when things didn't go our way. Martinez had him playing a certain way and we didn't like it and it destroyed his confidence and we have never took to him as fans.

Now with Koeman wanting a stronger mentality in the team and a no nonsense attitude to boot he is not able to take the criticism and use it as a driving force.

He needs to go and start again somewhere else but he will never make it at the top level. Such a shame.

26 Jul 2017 22:00:47

I like Gylfi but I think we need other positions first, we desperately need another centre half and a striker and a couple of wide men to boot!

Just a thought, wouldn't Samir Nasri be a better £45mil cheaper alternative to Gylfi?

26 Jul 2017 15:28:05
Samir Nasri will never fit the profile of our club.

I don't think he will be missed tbh. When Rooney left I was gutted. The same feeling I had when Dunc was sold to Newcastle and Lineker was sold to Barcelona. But Ross leaving doesn't stir up any feelings at all. Jack Rodwell part 2 for me.

Agree1 Disagree0

26 Jul 2017 17:55:53
I will be sorry to see him go as he is one of us unfortunately he seems to think he is good enough for a bigger club than Everton which isn't true I really hope he fulfills his potential but I'm guessing we are all in agreement it won't happen and he will end up like Rodwell.

Agree1 Disagree0

26 Jul 2017 14:36:27
I just get the feeling now that if a club is crazy enough to match our valuation of Barkley it would be similar to when City bought Rodwell. It's a shame it has come to this but the kid only has himself to blame, he'll turn out for Sunderland soon!

As you might recall I had created a fantasy league across all the pages. Thought now would be a good time for a reminder.
The game is located at fantasy.premierleague.com
The code to join this league: 15240-12211.
It's titled Football Rumours League

Entries to the league will close at midnight of 10th August BST so make sure you're signed up by then. We already have close to 350 entries.

Also additionally Ed033 has created a new fantasy football page if you want to ask any questions

Thanks.

Just a bit of fun blues as he won't be sold

How much would Tom Davies cost right now?

Believable5 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - you would be buying potential degs so not as much as what people would expect mate..

26 Jul 2017 10:44:54
That's true Ed, but the selling club will value according to worth. So there will be a large discrepancy between the two valuations. And we all know that Tom is pretty much priceless to us. He's a good player who is a supporter and has a family history of playing for the club.

Agree4 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - very much so ace..but as degs said just a bit of fun mate..

I doubt he'd be interested at this stage. Plenty of rumours linking us to Gabriel Barbosa of Inter. He had a stinker of a season in Italy but was hailed as a 'wonderkid' at one point. Be worth a punt on loan as we're looking light up top.

I might be wrong but Jags is still club captain. But if he's not playing I suppose it'll be decided ad-hoc. So if Rooney starts and Jags is on the bench, then surely it'll go to Rooney.

Whilst this summers game FIFA has been great for all us fans, I feel this is where Koeman is really going to earn all his money keeping a steady balance in the team. Where are they all going to play? Are they going to be happy being benched from time to time. to time to time.
Just check our midfield now.
I'd think Gana and Schneidelin will be the two engines in CM. One in front? Barklay? Klaasen? Davies? Rooney? Gylfi? that's 5 players, potentially 200 million, after 1 position. That’s a lot of egos to manage.
Up front.
Is Calvert Lewin going to be given a crack? Is Sandro going to be in the centre or out of position out wide? Are we going to be playing Miralles? Or is Lookman going to feature much.
And defence.
Centre. You’d guess Keane will be our main guy if all goes well for him. Then Jags, Williams, and Holgate. Left back is just Baines. And right is Coleman, Martina and Kenny.
This isn’t a doom and gloom post. I am genuinely pleased with how we have recruited this summer but just a bit confused as to how we are going to keep a balanced team with all the midfielders and, in my opinion, little else elsewhere.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

26 Jul 2017 07:44:30
I think the players Koeman has recruited can play a variety of roles so they won't be vying for a certain role it will give Koeman the ability to affect games better during play.
I am really looking forward to this season of the Koeman Show! ☺️.

26 Jul 2017 09:07:05
As long as egos don't rock the boat and enjoy the fans long awaited ride. I'm sure they kniw what they're doing. somehow. Haha.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Jul 2017 10:55:10
Good post that Kingo. I think the very presence of Koeman will be enough to keep egos in check. His reputation will be enough to keep control. And if we get through to the group stages of the Europa league then there's plenty of opportunities for squad rotation.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Jul 2017 11:43:51
I think it's about time players had to fight for the shirt, and long may it last.
This is also a big season for some of our younger players. Dowell, Lookman, Davies, Calver Lewin and Kenny. They will be given opportunities in cups, and some league games I think, it's up to them to take it.

If a big name gets pushed out the team by one of these guys then that's fine with me. Shows were still progressing.
