Went to the MK Dons match this evening. Quite a nice ground, shame not a few more home fans there. Footballing wise, fairly decent performance, controlled the game with the exception of the last ten mins before half time. We didn't have any forwards in the squad, which I hope means Niasse and Kone are going. Was impressed with some of the young lads, Davies has plenty of energy, Pennington looked composed, Grant, Holgate and Dowell had some nice touches and looked confident. Deulofeu was probably man of the match, great run for Barkleys goal. Keeper looked solid. Only downside was I had forgotten how bad McGeady is, comically bad in fact. I sincerely hope he is on his way as he simply not premier league standard. Tarashaj got injured just before half time so didn't get to see much of him. Overall looking positive, just need a few signings and rid of the deadwood.

Interesting that Koeman was not too positive about the performance. From my viewpoint we reverted back to Martinez style of sideways and back passing too much. McGeady was comical, I think any of us would have scored when he shot right at the goalkeeper.

Agree1 Disagree0

27 Jul 2016 06:58:15
WTF is McGeady still doing at the Club, if nobody wants him or Kone surely it would make more sense just to release them I. E. just pay off their contracts.

Agree1 Disagree0

27 Jul 2016 08:05:05
McGeady has no confidence and it is clearly showing. He has ability but due to no confidence he also has lost composure and therefore tends to make the wrong decisions.

As for the performance. There was a lot of issues in midfield. Besic has a serious issue and he needs to get help for it. Everytime he makes a mistake he takes it too much to heart. I know he wants to make an impression but he is like this every game.

He has got to be more phylisophical and not show his emotion too much or else he too will suffer poor form.

Is Barry injured? I've got a feeling he doesn't feature in the managers plans. I like Barry but he is too slow for the EPL. With the players being mentioned it is pointing to him being replaced.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jul 2016 10:32:34
I thought McGeady did ok and just needed a bit of luck, Yes he missed a good chance but Mirallas missed 2 or 3 golden chances as did Del boy against Barnsley but I don't hear anyone mentioning those.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Jul 2016 23:16:52
I can't believe I've just heard what the manager said.

Not good enough and need to improve. I love this guy!

If you think we won't improve even without signings just listen to him. Nothing but common sense.

one minute we are connected to some of the worlds greats, now we are getting excited about signing players from villa and sunderland, some things never change.

Believable0 Unbelievable4

27 Jul 2016 00:41:33
Connected by who? Who at the club said wer after X Y or Z? And world greats haha c'mon now really, ad be more than happy for the villa player and Sunderland player to come in if they improve what we have, have faith, trust the manager and allow yourself to get excited, good times are coming open your eyes.

Agree3 Disagree0

27 Jul 2016 07:53:54
You may find that we are linked to the lad at Villa due to our new appointment of a DOF, this may be someone Steve Walsh was looking at with Leicester, let's leave the business side to the professionals eh.

Agree4 Disagree0

27 Jul 2016 07:54:27
So let's go and spend £30m on a centre half from a piss poor Italian league, juse because it's a high fee he must be world class. doesn't work like that at all, I would rather spend the £15m quoted on Kone from Sunderland who has Premier League experience. Look at Mangala at City, high fee but awful in the Premier League. The fee doesn't make a player world class.

Agree3 Disagree0

27 Jul 2016 08:09:49
If a player improves your team it doesn't matter how much he cost or where he comes from.

I've not seen a player mentioned that I thought was a poor player or that we have better already here.

27 Jul 2016 08:16:24
well said BlueGray

As Utd fans may find out with Pogba very soon.

27 Jul 2016 08:55:39
Id have Kone. When he signed for sunderland in january they improved alot. looks a solid defender. the napoli lad is same type player, build, costs more and as already been said, is from a total different league, with a slower type of football.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Jul 2016 22:40:18
Am not bothered about big names let koeman choose his men and whoever they are let's get behind them and stop moaning bout players not coming in.

Believable5 Unbelievable0

26 Jul 2016 23:47:33
It's not all about big names. This guy was second to kante across most stats last season in a poor villa side. He adds steel to an area we desperately need it.

Yes Carvalho would be more exciting, but at 7million in the current market, this guy is a steal.

Does anyone know why Barry has made an appearance yet? Is he deemed surplus to requirements or is he carrying a knock?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

27 Jul 2016 07:04:11
Maybe because Koeman already knows what Barry, Stones, Lukaku etc can do in various systems and is playing others such as Mirralas, Barkley, Del Boy (all the type of player he likes) in order to bring back their confidence after 3 wasted Seasons.

Hi I am new on here, but can I ask the blues who are stressing about no signings to chill out. This is a new era and it is only just beginning so just sit back and enjoy the ride, remember good things come to those who wait.

The new squad numbers come out August 1st, I expect a few signings will be sorted before giving the numbers out, If Kone is given the number nine, I will blow a fuse.

26 Jul 2016 17:16:05
Hey

. why on earth is everyone so uptight on here. think about it. in any walk of life or any jo/ trade of any description, any new manager walking into an environment where he doesn't know his/ her employees, will take a little time to suss them out n see if changes need to be made. no way would they storm in n blow half their budget on staff they don't need without assessing first. simples. the vast majority of other teams active in the market have their managers embedded into the club already and knew their targets months ago. even Pep who knew he was always going to city. so take a deep breath, relax n trust the club. the biggest 3 'signings' have already happened. FM, RK and SW.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Jul 2016 16:18:26
I can't believe all the anguish seen on this forum. Who knows which players the club are looking at? I would suggest that stories like the one about the Stoke player are "leaked" to the press to pressure the players existing club to offer an improved contract which is what it seems is happening. Who knows if Everton did anything else than make an inquiry into his availability, if that. Until it is reported by the "Official" Everton site or Ed002 tells us it is a fact I will not believe anything.

Agree0 Disagree1

26 Jul 2016 16:02:12
The press are so full of crap . There should be a law to say they can't print anything without a reliable information. Like every fan I keep hoping we will sign some good players an slightly hoping that what they are printing is true . As for the transfer system at Everton it is still a joke koeman must have targets in his head all last season why would that all of a sudden stop and have to scout new players a good manager knows good players . I think this supposed 100 mil is a load of old pony to be honest.

Believable2 Unbelievable2

26 Jul 2016 16:26:31
The problem with that, is who determines what is a reliable source? More so, free speech means that papers can print things like this. They aren't actually slandering anyone so can't really stop them.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jul 2016 07:16:16
You mention that Koeman 'must have had targets in his head'. You're probably right. However he had targets in mind for Southampton's squad, not ours. The transfer needs are different for each individual squad, would you rather he waste money on a left back or right winger when we have an abundance of players in that position? I think he is evaluating the whole squad and will buy players as he sees fit.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Jul 2016 15:39:39
Love how so many people are fuming about us not signing Arnautovic. A player 18hrs ago nobody had even suggested they wanted to sign!
RK has to probably access who can adapt to his style of football, it's pointless buying a replacement for someone who doesn't need replacing.

Yes it's frustrating, as we all want the excitement of new players, and a strengthened squad. But we all thought the squad was good enough last year to be CL contenders (baring a few) and RM was at fault!
So let's say RK has fixed the faults, why do we need to rush!?

YES we do need to fill places, but as far as I've seen a lot of deals are falling through or taking time for a lot of clubs. Just look at Stones, (man city) Lukaku, (Chelsea) Pogba (Man U) Vardy (arsenal) the list is endless! even Niasse is waiting!

You only really feel your own though!

Transfers will start this week and coming weeks. Not to panic.

People need to chill out yano. If koeman likes the squad and thinks we can wait then I trust him.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

26 Jul 2016 13:47:48
look please stop panicking, I know its hard being an evertonian, but please trust the new regime and what they are doing behind the scenes, so far we have been linked almost every player that has been on the move, witsel, sissoko, etc etc etc total spend about 300mil lol, no one knows what is going on, least of all the media. they had us sold to john moores who had exclusive rights to us, 2 days later sold to mosheri. just have faith.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

26 Jul 2016 13:36:41
Typical Everton get taken over by a "billionaire" which is then followed by less window activity than Josef Fritzl's basement.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

26 Jul 2016 14:39:22
That analogy made me laugh Pinky. Think I'll stick with johny89 though. Koeman's no mug. If he wants a player I'm sure we'll get him. You can't rush things like this and go out and spend like a sailor on shore leave just because the money's available.

Agree1 Disagree0

26 Jul 2016 13:32:25
Getting a bit concerned now about the lack of transfer activity. The big clubs have all started spending and we ain't even put a bid in.

We have money to spen we are told but it looks like it's going to be a few panic buys if we don't go and get who we want.

Other clubs get there business done we no matter what take ages and this is one thing we have to stop.

August is fast approaching and new players need time to adjust to how we play.

Can we for once go about business like we mean business.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

26 Jul 2016 14:03:51
Hardly anyone has signed players. Most have signed one or two players at most so it's not as if we are miles behind anyone.

The deals we are looking for are not going to be easy or quick. Just be patient.

Agree1 Disagree0

26 Jul 2016 14:56:31
pb78 you say we need to get players in "to adjust to how we play" just think about that for two seconds we have a new manager and a new style of play the whole squad is adjusting to a new style of play I don't think a seasoned professional will have any problems catching up with the two to three weeks they will have missed. Especially if they are player who played in a more RK style not RM style. I'm more concerned about RK adjusting the squad away from tippy tappy keep ball pass backwards style we ended up playing under RM than making a rash signing just to keep the fans happy.

I always feel that when a player is transferred out that your replacement would be as good as at lleast. I feel that if the rumours are true that Arnautovic is not as good as Lukaku. I feel that this is a step back.
Preferably I would like to see an improvement on Lukaku, I know this may not be possible.
I would be interested to know your thoughts eds on this matter.

26 Jul 2016 12:21:26
hahaha, if its true Lukaku is going for £65 MIL plus, then to get a better player would cost a lot more, n that player would not be looking at oming to Euroless Everton. Think about it.

Youd find it a lot easier lads if you didn't get sucked into the media hype. Just wait til they are official rather than spend weeks debating if they good enough or not then blaming the board if they sign elsewhere. When in reality we might never have been interested anyway.

I actually feel sorry for niasse he really hasn't had any time to get that many games in he was not match fit when he joined had a wrist injury i rekon give him till end of transfer window then if he is a huge waste of 1e mill get rid just my thought.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

26 Jul 2016 08:22:11
I agree. If our scouting team and Manager at the time had put the effort in actually seeing what he was like instead of looking at you tube we could spared him coming to us and saved all the money spent on him.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Jul 2016 08:41:44
I would imagine any decision to sell / loan would not have been made without careful consideration, remember he was training last season and now in pre season, I'm sure they have seen things they are not happy with, and do not see him as part of their ongoing plans.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Jul 2016 09:27:59
I have to disagree. When I have seen him play, he can't pass, control a ball, shout or head a ball. A complete waste of space and will not get better. It does not take 6 months to get fit from a winter break. He is useless and should never wear the Everton shirt again.

Agree1 Disagree0

26 Jul 2016 10:29:34
I disagree Roberts75 he was a very poor last chance signing by Roberto I remember Bournemouth at home he picked the ball up on the half way line turned had no Bournemouth players near him and he played a 10 yard pass straight to one of their center backs the lower gladys collectively just let out a small chuckle he isn't up to premiership standard I'm afraid and needs to move for the sake of his career as he will just slip into oblivion if he stays at us.

Agree1 Disagree0

26 Jul 2016 10:42:49
I don't feel sorry, 10% signing fee from his transfer then at minimum got to be on 30k a week.

Agree2 Disagree0

26 Jul 2016 10:52:57
You only had to look at him running around the centre circle when he was unveiled to see he wasnt a footballer. No amount of fitness or football coaching was going to turn what looked like a crossbar challenge winner into a half decent second division player. Reeves and whoever need a kick in the stones for wasting 13.5 million on him. Money which at the time for the club wasnt exactly falling off the trees.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Jul 2016 11:12:19
This one always confused me. A lot of people think he was a panic buy, but the club confirmed at the time that we had been scouting him for some time. If I remember right, we aren't the only ones either so clearly people saw something in him. I don't think he will get a chance here now so if we have the opportunity we should move him on, but it would not surprise me if he went somewhere else and done well.

Agree1 Disagree1

26 Jul 2016 11:56:19
Cropper16, it was definately poor scouting, but the lad will not do well in the future because he is not a footballer and never will be.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Jul 2016 14:52:53
I don't why should we pay thousands of pounds a week for someone who can't even run with a ball! It's embarrassing looks like he has ski's on when playing get rid sharpish.

I see we are linked with Arnautovic would be a good signing but were does he fit in i think Miralles is going to have a great season as RK seems to like him Geri upfront with Rom if he stays does this mean he's a squad player i'm not saying i wouldn't have him let's see where this story goes and can't wait for mk dons tonight.
