the league cup is no more than premier reserve teams versus who's left from the lower leagues
it's about time that prem reserve teams are allowed to enter the league system so that that the league cup can once again become a proper competition

Prem reserve teams in the league? At the expense of teams like Torquay and Newport, etc? As much as I love Everton, I wouldn't want to put other teams out of business, which would happen to some if they dropped out of the league. That's the steamroller attitude of chelski, that I personally hate about the modern game.
Blue Lee {Ed025's Note - im with you lee..

Agree0 Disagree0

Any teams entering the champions league should be excluded from this League cup - they'vealready got a rigged money system as it is with everything in their favour - so excluding them from this cup would see a massive interest in it then - because every team in the top two leagues would then think they had a chance of winning it

i'm not saying replace other teams, far from it.
i'm sure a system could be developed to include prem reserve teams, without effecting long standing and proud clubs.
just my opinion, but as it stands the competition is a farse

Probably tempting fate here but with 90 mins gone it's Meltdown United 1 vs 'We are going to win the Prem with Sturridge' 0 so I feel a bit happier tonight.
Let's welcome Newcastle with determination.

Usual away day blues @ one of our bogey grounds.
My son is 18 now yet 2 c the mighty blues win a trophy.
I know its only the league cup but were not going to win the league so why don't we go 4 it instead of resting players. After all its early in the season 2 b knocked out @ this stage of a competition we never seem 2 do well in.Play the best team score some goals & then rest 1 or 2 not the other way round.
Bent & berbatov always seem 2 do the business against us.

Hey Ed's

Why are some peoples replies not aligned with the original post, it seems to have been happening for a few weeks now

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I think it's just the person clicking reply on the wrong post, but I may be wrong.

Keith EFC.

Agree0 Disagree0

I've noticed it too, degsy. Saw a few replies to the 'greatest moment as an everton supporter' post, posted on completely random rumours with nothing to do with it.

I can't believe the amount of people who don't seem to care that we are out of the 'mickey mouse cup'. This was our best chance of actually winning a trophy after winning bugger all for nearly 20 years now, and we go and throw it away.
It seems that the rot has truely set in now that fans aren't even arsed with our pathetic record of 1 trophy in 26 years. The longer we go without winning anything the more the pressure is being applied.
If we don't want to win anything then what is the point of entering, why not just play in the league, it would be less embarrassing then. {Ed025's Note - you are going over the top mike, fact is, we will lose some games!of course i would have liked us to win, but lets get some perspective here its the end of the league cup..not the world mate!..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I never said it was the end of the world ed. We have won 1 trophy in 26 years which is pathetic. I am just desperate for us to win a trophy, and would have loved to have won the league cup, yet fans and seemingly players and managers couldn't seem to give a monkeys. The pressure is on to win the FA Cup now, which is harder to win the league cup. Otherwise another trophyless year, never mind though, there is always next season. {Ed025's Note - i know the stats mike, and like you would have loved to win the league cup mate, but the fact is we are out, no use crying over spilt milk, lets just get back on the horse as we have potentially a really good season to look forward to, we were unlucky and got beat, im just saying theres no reason to over react..

hi ed
please can you explain why martinez played a weakened team last night .we are out of the cup now which I honestly think we had a good chance of winning and getting european football back at goodison . I believe we should of played a full strength team then made subs when we was safely through to the next round which would of given the players time to rest
considering we ain't playing till monday.

dave {Ed025's Note - i get your point dave, the way i see it, is that bobby does not know his best team yet, so he gave the likes of del boy, johnny, and stones a chance to prove themselves, like him, i still thought the team we put out was good enough to win, and attacking wise we were, but a lack of understanding in defence cost us, it was a gamble that did not pay off, but saying that we are playing some lovely stuff, and IMO are a delight to watch mate..

Believable0 Unbelievable0

That's why you have a squad otherwise some players won't get a game first defeat rather it come in that cup than league or fa cup

Don't harp on about dignity in defeat. It's a cup we ridiculed our red neighbours for celebrating winning. I'd like to win the champions league degsy, don't mean it's gunna happen. I'm realistic enough to see that when we play a complete change of team away in the cup to premier league opposition we aren't guaranteed to get the result. If our manager ain't taking it seriously then neither will I

WE never ridiculed our neighbours Hank for winning this cup, maybe you did but personally I would have loved to win this or any cup.

Obviously this is below you though so thankfully we are out of it, phew close call there, imagine if we would have gone to Wembley to play a final in the MM cup, how embarrassing would that have been, and as for an open top bus around town, I don't think anyone would be out cheering the team for the MM cup.

Makes me laugh supporters who say "I am glad we are not in it because it is the Mickey Mouse Cup", get over yourself will ye

Agree0 Disagree0

A complete change?, sorry mate but that team was more than good enough to win, bossed the game for 90% of it, the only player I was disappointed to see on the pitch was hettinga because in a word he's awful and offers nothing, we could so easily have won 3, 4 nil that game and you be on here asking why they start more

Agree0 Disagree0

Sad that dithering Marty didn't play the best players, get the goals and they bring on others, Naismith? Chance blown again to get a trophy

We'd have won that game last night under Moyes when we defended our 1-0 lead, Martinez out!

Not happy about the Baines situation, feel all the good work done in the last transfer window will be undone if we sell him in jan .just hope work behind the scenes is being done and he will have signed a new deal before jan, would be at a loss if he went to utd in jan surely utd would not offer more, .

Did he play last night.ie cup tied

Not fussed about tonight. It's a Micky mouse cup that the likes of Queen Kenny brag about winning. Our focus is the league and I'm sure we will take the FA cup a bit more seriously. Besides, from footballing perspective we dominated Fulham for most parts. Wasn't like we made huge changes and got smashed. Move on swiftly
Hank

Believable0 Unbelievable0

No, it's something we need to take serious considering we haven't won anything in nearly two decades. Guarantee you wasn't saying that before the game.

I agree with Mike, it's not a mickey mouse cup at all, bit of dignity in defeat please Blues.

I would love to win this competition and so would everyone else

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with toffeemike. We are not going to win the prem so a start would be this tournament to get some silverware

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought the team we put out had a good chance of getting a win. It’s not like we played our second string and youngsters like we would have last season. All the players selected have a good shout to play in the starting line-up for most matches if we have injuries susspensions etc. We all have our opinions about who should be in and out, we just don’t like to see our team loose. there is no point in going on about giving players game time to improve their game but then whinge if we don’t win saying we should have put our strongest team out. Don’t get me wrong I am disappointed we lost but I personally would have played the squad players as we are still trying to blend the team and find our best combinations.
IMO it is about priorities I think the club look at the Prem as the top priority followed by the FA cup with the League cup as the least. Additionally RM may be a bit cautious after last season with Wigan.

SA90 {Ed025's Note - i agree SA, guys were crying out for del boy to play, and this is a long season where all the squad will need to be used, like you i dont enjoy defeat, but bobby needs to see all these players, and that team was good enough to win that game, so lets not over-react over 1 loss, its onwards and upwards for me COYB..

Agree0 Disagree0

It was a game that should of been out of sight at half time, credit to Fulham for keeping it close, plenty of plus points del boy, kev coming on lukaku strong as an ox and as fast as fk, on the free kick that was awarded for there goal I think mr bean should say sorry because it a was perfect tackle. but switched off on it, gary mc goal esq, but we move on, well done fulham

Who gives one, the Mickey Mouse cup is for Mickey Mouse teams, The FA cup and the League are the main competitions, so let's not get upset about this MM cup upset, let's just carry on with what were doing well in the PL on monday night and get another 3 points. KK.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Most PL clubs are just not interested in the MM cup, making 9-10-11 changes giving fringe players a run out, it seems to be only supporters who get upset when teams get knocked out.To the clubs its more a hindrance, let's get down to the more serious business of getting into the top 4.

Agree0 Disagree0

Careful calling it the Micky mouse cup, you'll get the bitter angry posters getting all uptight about it.

Get over yourself Hank for gods sake, its banter, it doesn't help

Agree0 Disagree0

Did u see chelsea, tottenham and man city teams with there changes, they want to win but know they can play there second strings because there squads are so good, I would love us to win a cup sooner rather than later but martinez has his first hiccup and all of a sudden some fans want moyes back. as for european football that's all good wanting it but we gain nothing from being in that awful europa league

Hey blue's bad result tonight. I don't think this is a mickey mouse cup. I want silverware because that's what this game is about. So i'm very dissapointed because its the first route to europe gone to. First half play'd ok second half just not good enough. This is why we have to play our strongest team with one or two changes. Del boy looks great but needs to get his head up which is strange for a kid from barca because that's what they teach em. But the rest weren't good in the second half. Oh well take stock its gone now time to smash the geordies and bounce back as us blue's do. Coyb
