Seen the glory years in the mid 80's. Went the match and it wasn't talking about wether were going to win but about by how many. also answered the Echo appeal in the late 70's to help clear the snow from the pitch for the Wednesday night game against Villa, bunker school and got on the pitch and helped out. Got two complimentary offGordon.

Hi Ed 002 as there seems so much inaccurate and incorrect posts below re the question I asked about Usmanov investing in Everton, can you enlighten us as to what is legally required for this to happen, many thanks.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - I am not going to get involved in the finances too much but critically any investment needs to comply with FFP and it is not simply a matter of folks throwing money at a club. For reasons I never got many Everton supportes were saying £200M investment from Moshiri every transfer window - I tried to explain but got shot down. Since then I have been told by an Everton supporter that I know nothing about FFP and should listen to his chum who says the sale of Lukaku means that Liverpool don't need to worry about Everton and wages any longer - unlike every other club. As you will appreciate it is not worth the grief to explain any of this at all.}

Ok Ed many thanks mate.

Ed002, couple of questions.
Am I right in thinking USM wouldn't be able to sponsor finch farm if Usmanov did buy into the club?

Moshiri has gone as far as he can by underwriting the debt (to lower/ eliminate the interest paid) and cannot simply pump money into the club Willy nilly?

Is it also correct the Man city owners circulate their money via their country of citizenship back into the club through sponsorship?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - (a) No. (b) The supporters have a different view. (c) I don't understand the question.}

25 Jul 2018 22:16:11
Ed02, on a different slant. I seem to remember a few times you've given great details about a break away super league. with the top clubs. juve, Milan's, Barcelona, man u, man city. etc breaking away. and if I remember correctly a yearly meeting between said clubs occurs to plan this break away. would I be correct in saying that this could have enormous financial ramifications for those teams who get 'left behind'. or is there a counter proposal from the various footballing bodies to 'protect'the remaining football leagues? Any more details on such counter proposals/ counter measures?

I think Marco Silva and Marcel are a breath of fresh air for Everton, we have been crying out for these guys for years, Bring It On.

So far GB, so far. Bit long in the tooth (as most of us are now LOL) , to allow myself to get carried away. We do this every pre-season. Don't know to much about Mr Brands so cannot really comment. Mr Silva I only know from his Premiership exploits and the glowing references the experts appear to give him. All in all, while respecting the views of others, I prefer to reserve judgement, at the moment I am neutral.

Thanks for answering my dream Ed., it maybe the 8 pints and the sun on me baldly head this afternoon but it could happen. I'll be searching for this comment at the end of the season, fingers crossed it comes true.

Does anyone fancy finishing 6th 7th or 8th in the prem and winning a cup this season. is that realistic or am I being to optimistic. maybe it's just me but I'm looking forward to Marcos ability to achieve this for us the mighty blues.

Everyone is stronger this year.
Our improvement this season is solely based on out performing our own last 12 months.

That for me is a comfortable 7th. Anything else is a bonus. Lots of big shake ups up and down the league this year. West Ham have gone for it, Arsenal I think could be stronger than people think. Tottenham have the high of a new stadium. Liverpool look stronger.
Utd expect this year. City will be awesome. So yeah if We can keep pace for as long as possible, play football that will make me enjoy my Saturdays again, have some players shove it back down our throats. I'll be made up. Who knows what a Xmas window will bring? Desperation or opportunity? Bring it on.
Of course a cup would be something special.

25 Jul 2018 16:10:09
Why are people concerned that 55000 capacity is not big enough it's about getting every aspect of the stadium right, ticket sales are a small percentage of stadium revenue now the commercial side takes priority, I want the stadium to be a football stadium not a soulless stadium like West Ham's, 55k is right maybe 60k. People say we are not going big enough are wrong.

Been reading a lot of the posts lately, and a lot has been very good to read, I like all the excitement we have got going on, I also like the fact we've not gone in buying anyone as quick as possible.
I see a lot of articles linking us with defenders, which is good, we need to add here, but one real big place that needs addressing is the middle of the park, yes we could do with another striker, but we so need that someone who can make it all happen, the only person I've seen us linked to is the Chelsea lad, but after last season and the world cup, I cannot see Chelsea loaning or selling him. bit who is around that fits the bill .

Simon, If we play Gilfi in the number 10 and not out wide, he will make things happen. With Rooney gone and Richarlison out left, it puts Gilfi right in that #10 role where he can cause some serious damage. We will see the best of him this season that’s for sure.

The club have clearly backed Marco Silva's judgement by bringing in Richarlison.
No doubt, they'll do likewise with further incomings and outgoings.
Of course, all such player movement has to be subject to the club's budget and the financial regulations, but, subject to that, the club should imho trust the judgment of the manager that they've appointed and back him in the transfer market.
On that note, I recall when Howard Kendall (second spell) and Joe Royle were denied the player (s) they wanted to bring in and they resigned. Whether it was a case that the club couldn't afford those transfers - or there were other issues - is perhaps a moot point, but the club (especially the board) didn't handle the situation well imho, but I guess there are two sides to every story.

If true it does seem an awful lot of money for an unproven player especially from November onwards. I know that Ed002 in particular will say it is not about the money and I do respect that point of view but never the less, even in todays market it does seem one heck of a mark up from the reputed 13 mill he cost originally.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jul 2018 13:48:10
If the club is willing and able (subject to budgetary and regulatory constraints) to back the manager's judgement and pay the transfer fee, wages, bonuses, intermediary commissions, etc., to bring a player in, then imho talk about "worth" is irrelevant.
Whether fans think a player who cost more or less than another player is a better or worse than that other player and thereby is or isn't "worth" his cost or or is "value for money" comparatively speaking is great banter, but that's all imho.

Believable1 Unbelievable3

25 Jul 2018 15:58:40
Surely a players worth should be questioned at the end of his contract rather than the beginning?
that is when players should be judged as being good value or a waste of money.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - thats fair smit..

25 Jul 2018 16:26:19
Smit666: n interesting point, but what do you measure at the end of his contract - goals, wins, trophies, etc. and what monetary value is each of those given when offsetting against the transfer fee, wages, etc.? It seems very subjective - just opinions.
There’s no objective worth or value-for-money imho, BUT you can compare different player’s performances (goals, wins, trophies, etc. ) and say if one, by and large, has performed better (and thereby been better value) than the other.

Agree0 Disagree1

25 Jul 2018 18:23:07
Bobby. As with valuing them at the start, it is everyone's opinion. Just a fairer judgement. Then things like sell on fee, years played can be taken into consideration.
Personally I don't care too much about what players cost. Seamus 60k, Richalison 40 mill. So what, all I'm interested in is whether they improve us.
We'd all have another cahill, Seamus, stones but also another lukaku, siggy or pickford.

Good news that Richarlison has signed. It might seem a bit overpriced but we have to trust that Marco and Marcus know what they are doing and have faith in their judgement.

I watched some early You tube clips on him and he looked really good. The clips were from when he was in Brazil and it surprised me that he seemed to be playing mostly as centre forward (shows how much I know)

Now looking forward to CB, I see Mina didn't travel with Barcelona squad to USA (because of WC or transfer) , LB, Digne did travel to USA and box to box midfielder.

Would also be happy if all the gossip on Batshuayi came true.

And assuming we can offload Kev and bolasie I'd love us to go for Adama Traore

He really improved his final ball last season and is arguably the fastest player in the world imo. Having him, richarlison and Walcott bombing up the pitch would be frightening!

Do you think borough would sell him Ed?

I'm guessing you would have rather played a newly promoted team 🤣.

How terrible that they give you a far more famous team. I suppose you were hoping for Bournemouth, Brighton or Huddersfield?

If that's the case why are there always empty seats at your ground?

{Ed025's Note - the thing with these small clubs who get promoted is that they have ideas above their station woburn, wolves have been in the doldrums for years and are even behind birmingham and villa in the midlands pecking order, the sooner they go back down the better (which wont be long) as it will stop these wannabe fools showing a lack of respect mate..

25 Jul 2018 09:03:45
Guess you were hoping to avoid us all season were you.

Agree0 Disagree1

25 Jul 2018 09:29:25
Jet ski- I’m guessing you wanted an away fixture so you can get out of that dump called Wolverhampton they try and call a city.
I promise you that playing a Portugal reserves team on the opening day is far more disappointing for us.
And the 100,000 on the streets after promotion? I walked through wolves a few weeks ago and I’d say you have 100,000 living on the street all the time so what changed?
Anyway enjoy your season and look forward to the opening game and hearing your songs, what is it? Boing boing.

Ed025 I think he is getting at having a far superior team. I mean they have Moutinho and we only have Siggy, Patricio and we only have Pickford, Neves when we only have Gana. i'd go on but don't know any other wolves players names.

25 Jul 2018 12:53:15
😂😂 love it Jet Ski. I love a bit of banter especially when they are deluded (only ribbing) .

I look forward to playing you lot. You were really good last year and you've signed a couple of half decent players. However, this league a massive step up and points on the board early are vital if you're to stay up. Good luck AFTER our match!
