Hey ed, just to say something of my opinion. What would you think of sending our young players abroad. If we want to compete against European teams we need players to know European football. I, for one would welcome George Greene be sent to Barcelona to ply his trade there. Send Duffy off to Italy to be a good defender. I notice that too few home grown talent stays home. Just an observation.

COYB

{Ed025's Note - its a good point EB, but they would need to get playing time mate, and i cant see george getting that at barca, but maybe at lower league clubs it could work...not a bad shout mate..

In Spain, Rayo Vallecano are a club which lives from free transfers and loan players. They play Primera Division and won't be relegated.
Their manager plays offensive football (this season 12W - 4D - 18L) and that's not bad with the players they've got and the situations they have to adapt every transfer market.
So I'd be quite confident that Green would get in their squad every week if he manages to do alright and adapt well in the team.

Just suggestions, but no European football.

Joe Cole has had enough of big Sam, any takers? got to be better than clevs

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i think big sam has had enough of joe baz!, terrible player for me mate, if he cant get in west ham,s side, then he cant get in our reserves..

''got to be better than clevs''

You are having a laugh Baz mate. Nobody is better than Clevs. NOBODY.

Agree0 Disagree0

Somebody posted that no one is better than Clevs. Would that be the same Noone (Peter?) who was the 1960s pop singer? He was a Manc too. Didn't he sing about "something tells me I'm into something good"? That must mean being linked with a transfer to Everton ;-)

I just want to sadly say that ex-Barça manager Tito Vilanova has died after fighting his cancer for two years.
Sad day for football, he was a good manager but above all, a great person.
RIP

{Ed025's Note - im with you there mate..RIP tito..

A sad day in football.also Sandy Jardine has passed away.Thoughts go to both families at this present time.

I am fine with people saying they would take Cleverly next season, I am. Personally I wouldn't have him on a free transfer, but I wish people would stop saying he would be a good partner for McCarthy. Has everyone forgotten about Gibson? Gibson has never put a foot wrong and his return from injury will be a breath of fresh air.

With the likely permanent signing of Barry, the return of Gibson and the scintillating form of McCarthy, I feel that any signing of a midfielder must be a quality player, one that we could depend on from the get go without trying to develop a player who has been getting worse. Gibson and McCarthy would, I feel, be a fantastic pairing and with Barry as well, who needs Cleverly?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - fair point angelo..

As good as Gibson is, what's the chance of him playing a full season? And Barry hasn't signed yet. Is like to think that he'd sign for us purely on football terms, and not just for money, but I'm afraid that money talks, and others will offer him more. I hope I'm wrong (again).

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - the good thing is though lee, if we have the three, the rotation would really work!..

To injury prone. Sadly

Agreed. He's been touted as osmans replacement who would be part of the attacking 3 mids rather than compete with gb, jmc and gibbo for the defensive/ ball playing mid role. I would still like to see out and out wingers signed we have pienaar but he is aging, mirallas has blown hot and cold this season, get stepovers back on loan, mcgeady will come into his own next year, ossie and pienar are the players we need to replace so a wide left sided winger and a central versitile passing/ attacking mid would be my choice. Konoplyanka would be my ideal choice for left sided, and somebody of lallana's/ michu's mould would fit in the central role (obviously both of these choices would be expensive, but if bobby can work his magic finding a similar player unearthed from the spanish league I would be more than happy). Only one player comes to mind I would want to sign to play the defensive role and that would be schneiderlin. Class player who could play along side any of jmc, gb and gibbo. Youth team could be loaned out to gain experience next year, or adopt wengers approach of playing the youth team in the carling cup for a more competitive experience. My choice for signings in summer irrespective of whether we get 4th or 5th in summary would be:-
Striker. Lukaku or bony
acm hidden gem from spain in lallana/ michu/ silva mould
lam konoplyanka
dm schneiderlin & gaz barry (with gibbo and gb's potential injury proneness and potential suspensions dje to yellow or red cards I feel we need 4 players to cover these 2 positions) also would offer squad rotation to cope with many games in league, cup and europe
we should back roberto this year to keep the pressure on top 4 and hope a cup run would benefit the kids.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Apr 2014 15:41:54
I'm hoping next season we take the Carling Cup serious ed no resting players need to get the monkey off our back. Back in Europe next season is a big plus I expect us to go far. Come on Blues.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

25 Apr 2014 19:25:44
Cup wins gets u the same european football as 5th in the league and that is not good enough. If we get in the top 4 and win a cup I feel that should be our aspirations for next season.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Apr 2014 15:36:18
If results go your way this weekend you could find yourselves 3pts behind Chelsea or even 2pts behind City with Arsenal a point ahead of you. Do you think it's possible to make top 4 along with Arsenal or are Chelsea better placed to hang on in there. I know you have to play City yet but they still have a game in hand and with their goal difference I can't see them dropping out if I'm honest. Interested in your opinion too Ed 25( site wouldn't let me log in as my own username simonpw hence the slight adjustment)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - chelsea will be hard to catch simon, their remaining fixtures look fairly easy, i think our best chance is to pip arsenal, but even that is an uphill task mate..

25 Apr 2014 14:33:15
Personally I would welcome Cleverly especially for 6-8 mill, considering McCarthy cost 15 mill + he would be a great buy IMO. About two years ago he was considered a great talent much like Barkley now, sign him up Robbie

Believable0 Unbelievable0

25 Apr 2014 15:11:25
mccarthy cost 13m, cleverley was 22 then, hardly a talent, worst footballer to ever live, if we sign him even I will find it hard to trust bobby and won't support cleverley ever, what a joke if its true, mccarthy is 10000000000000 times the player cleverley could ever dream to be, bad times, arsenal after manzukic, chelsea after costa and the best we get is danny welbeck and a player who has no talent, wuppy doo

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - dont believe all you read mate.. :)

25 Apr 2014 17:26:48
Swan, if we sign Cleverly (even though i'm not his biggest fan) you'll get behind him and the team, because he'll be wearing the famous royal blue shirt. And If RM thinks he is good enough to push us forward, let's trust him and the player. (I respect you opinion 100%)
To be honest, there's been quite a few players that we've sign and thought that wouldn't make it:

McCarthy → I saw him as a decent midfielder, and when we bought him for 13 milion I was worried. Looks like he is worth much more than that.

Gibson → I didn't see him play ever with MU, looked like a cheap and fast option to have more players in midfield: He's done excellent, some of his passes and to be honest i'm looking forward to see him play next season under RM

Kone (you still haven't seen him play much, but I have) → Played for Levante in Spain for one season and, to be honest Levante are a midtable team that have only spent 7 or 8 years in primera division, and he rocked them to Europa League scoring 16 goals, and didn't play more games because his parent club Sevilla had a contract that if he scored 18 or more goals in a season, he had to return to them, and if not, Levante could keep him.
Was bought by Wigan and scored 11 goals with them in the first season, and remember Lukaku has scored 13 this season with us, so just wait till next season (Lukaku is great, but Kone isn't crap).
I have full confidance that he'll prove himself at Everton, he will have to play a big part in Europe and some league and cup games.

Robles → HE IS GOING TO BE GREAT, plays for the U-21 in Spain, he's big, strong, has good reflexes and gives a lot of confidance with his feet.
Just look at David de Gea's first year at MU, he made some horrible mistakes, but in his second season was much more confident and has been a lot of times the best defensive player on the pitch for them.

I mean, we don't know who are we going to sign and if he'll play goo for us or not, I just trying to tell that every player that plays for Everton is for a reason, and he hasn't arrived there without doing nothing. He's worked had, he has put in good displays on the pitch, and even if we think some players aren't good enough to play at Everton, let's just see what our club wants to buy and what type of players they want in and out.

Everton Till I Die, COYB, Support every second Everton and never stop believing what we can achieve at Goodison.
I respect all the opinions, i'm just trying to be as positive as we can, the manager is so we have to be double positive.
Bright future at Everton, as it used to be and has normally been all our great history.

History, Passion, Honour, Desire, Heart, Community → EVERTON

{Ed025's Note - good stuff OFM, i was a gibbo doubter when he came, but he quickly won me over, i could be wrong about robles as well, but to be honest he does not fill me with confidence when he has played mate..

25 Apr 2014 19:27:26
i liked mccarthy at wigan mate, 13m looked over the top and yes he has done well but at least he had footballing ability to see at wigan, I like kone but he has probably lost his pace due to his injury so won't score more than 5 next season, robles is second choice for the under 21s, he's 23, not very convincing and gibbo had a great shot and pass at Manchester United so he had some footballing ability, cleverley and people think i'm messing is the worst player I have ever seen, he has no talent and it is criminal that he is a footballer, if we spend any money on wages or transfer fees which we will then i'm sorry he will not get my support regardless of whether he is wearing the shirt or not, I honestly will be heartbroken if we sign him, we will have the worst footballer on earth, remember ali dia? bakayoko or rory delap? they are gods compared to him, I respect your opinion but I will lose total faith in roberto if he signs him, we will be the laughing stock of england and I wouldn't argue, he is awful mate, as I said and no joke, he has NO footballing ability to speak of and if he signs then the club will have a total lack of ambition and he won't get any cheers from me, i'm praying its a joke because it will kill me if he represents this club and I won't trust roberto with any transfers no matter how positive he is, I would happily sign welbeck for our whole transfer budget than have cleverley on a free, he would do a job as ball boy for blyth spartans but to think of him as an everton player is a fate no one should have to see

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - not a big fan then swan? :)

25 Apr 2014 21:20:09
What if Cleverly signs and proves you wrong? What if he scores the winner at Anfield?
Would you still thnk that about him?

And if he plays like you are saying, I guess you'll kill him won't you? :)

But let's hope another player comes to us anyway, a young and promising midfielder, I think we need more quality in midfield, somebody special.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - that would be good mate..

Just check out some of his videos on YouTube. It's crazy to say he is the worst footballer you have ever seen, we had Neville playing cm for years and I know you can't judge of a video but from what I have seen he could offer a lot more than he ever did in playing terms. I also feel in the environment Roberto creates he would flourish, he gives the players confidence in themselves knowing if they misplace a pass/shot there not going to get dropped. Just my opinion anyway haha

Coyb what's your predictions for today lads?

I want to buy shirts for my 4 year old son and my 6 month old kid. There does not seem to be anything available on the online club shop. Is this possible? How can order football shirts for my kids? Ridiculous

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - im afraid thats the way it is with kit bag svenny, that K needs replacing with SH for me mate..

In a similar boat Svenny, went on the hunt for a low priced kit for my little lad before the Manc game and they're still £30 with one home game left before they're out of date.

Just another 5 years of Kitbag mate, then we get rid hopefully.

Agree0 Disagree0

Not that bothered by the price as I didn't even get that far they do not have any shirts available in their sizes. Remarkable. I guess they won't produce more because of the move to Umbro and therefore avoiding excess stock BUT it is a joke, wanted to get my boy a shirt for his 4th birthday. Hopefully the new kit is released before July but unlikely I guess

Response from Everton customer service. Note the "item" in question is our home kit for a child (surely who they are mainly made for)

I am lucky enough that my parents bought me a kit each year since I was 2 (I'm 30 now) until I started buying them myself aged 15/16, so I have a supply of vintage shirts that I put on my 2 daughters each time everton play, irrespective of whether we are going to goodison or watching in the local gym on tv. (I have a 4yo and 18month old btw) my eldest can't wait every week to put the famous blue shirt on and has it hanging over the end of her bed all week ready to put on. She commonly asks me "dad is it time to put my everton shirt on yet?"

{Ed025's Note - good stuff that craig, you should get father of the year mate..

25 Apr 2014 20:19:56
Haha ed don't know about father of the year, but glad my girls have chosen with their hearts what team to support as I'm married to a red! The eldest has got a crackin left foot too, think I may take her to finch farm to see if robbie could use her skills in seasons to come.

Like the idea of vintage shirts.im 36 in june and seen in the club shop the 1978 replica shirt.its going to be my birthday present and its not gettinv worn.folded nicely and put behind a glass frame.mind you I was a divorce away from buying a 1995 fa cup winning signed big dunc shirt off eBay

What do you Everton fans think of Tom Cleverly at £8 million pounds with only 12 months left on his Manchester United contract, would he improve your team?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - im not impressed at all red wire, i cant see what he would offer our first team, or in fact who he would replace, he seems, after a promising start, to have gone backwards, and £8m for a squad player is too much for a club of our wealth, but maybe bobby sees something i dont, and i trust him implicitly to make the right call on him mate.. maybe the real mike will give more of an insight into his worth.. :)

Clevs is amazing. Don't take my word for it though, take a look at these quotes from the great and good of football.

Zinedine Zidane: “There is no doubt for me that Tom Cleverley is in a class of his own. He’s almost untouchable in what he does. I never tire of watching him play. You rarely come across the complete footballer, but Cleverley is as close to it as you can get. One of my regrets is that the opportunity to play alongside him never presented itself during my career.”

Cesc Fabregas: “Cleverley is the one whose level I aspire to. He is the best player in the Premier League.”

Pele: “Tom Cleverley is undoubtedly the best midfielder of his generation.”

Ryan Giggs: “I have played with some great players during my time at United but I would have to put Tom Cleverley down as the best.”

Wayne Rooney: “Clevs is best I’ve played with, no question. His touch, passing, vision, composure is outstanding. I try to copy him.”

Andres Iniesta: “Every one of us are just trying to become as good as him.”

Xavi: “Without any doubt the best player in the Premiership has to be Tom Cleverley. He knows how to do everything, and he is one who directs the way his team plays. On top of that, he has indestructible mental strength and he is a genuine competitor.”

Now do people understand?

Mike that's my favourite post in 3 years of frequenting this site, superb

Agree0 Disagree0

Cleverley is a good sauad player for a top 6 team and a good player for a mid-table team.

Agree0 Disagree0

Sounds like your getting a % of Cleverley's sale fee lol

I'd sooner take Seb Larsson and Ben Arfa, at least they look like they both enjoy & like playing football

Agree0 Disagree0

Mike you are undoubtedly a genius in posting on here. Also in all my years of watching football, I have never seen anyone execute the 3 yard sideways pass with the composure and guile of cleverly. 8million quid. its a absolute steal.

Sure he can kick a ball all nice and such

but 53 games since 2009, c'mon @ man u that should be 200-253 games

Am I the only one who didn't want Deulofeu to extend his loan? Our performances as a team are substantially worse when he starts. 5 of the last 6 games he's started (Crystal Palace, West Ham, Fulham, Cardfiff, Sunderland) have been appalling displays. The only game we haven't played terrible was against Newcastle, where our performance was hugely overrated (dominated in possession and scored 3 goals on the break). I've been a big fan of him for about 3 years, and was the most excited person on here when we got him, but my opinion has plummeted. He's got huge potential, but right now, he's holding us back.

I'm a huge fan of 'showboating', and love step overs and tricks, but he just gives it away every time and never get his head up. If he would just look for a man, rather than trying to beat a player, he'd be far better, but so far, Every time he's played I have been absolutely desperate for him to go off for McGeady, or even Osman, which is saying something.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The kid knows he has talent AB and like most young talented players, wants to show the world what he can do. I'd like to see him again next season, and think he will offer more in a second stint. Maybe abit like Naismith has done this season. Scapegoat last season but he is now enjoying his football and is like a new signing.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - naisy was not at fault last season dentie, he was playing out of position all the time..

Yeah, but he scored against the Arse. So that's a good enough reason for us to keep him for me.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - he is only a young man QB, and moving to a different country brings its own problems, but he does need to up his game if we keep him, i do think he will improve under bobbys guidance, but he has to learn to become more of a team player..

Sometimes watching Delboy makes the rest of our team looks slow and sluggish

Lukaku could of scored around 10 more goals this season if he would of been on the end of Delboy's crosses

Agree0 Disagree0

I think he will offer more in a second stint, but I'm still reluctant for that to be with us. He is undoubtedly talented; as I said, I have seen him at the youth tournaments and stuff and know how good he can be, but he's just not showing it. When I saw him with Spain, strangely, his best position was left wing, so he could cut in and pass, like a David Silva-esq playmaker, but down the right, he just hits the byline. I think bobby will help him, but has to be more disciplined in showing him where he's going wrong, instead of pampering him.

Agree0 Disagree0

I agree with what your saying ed.i know he was playing out of position and even posted before about him being a striker or old fashioned CF. I've always like the lad and at times last season felt really sorry for him when being brought on as a sub as most of goodison or on away matches, hardly cheered him on the pitch.but he has took to our new way of playing brilliantly and IMO is a very important player for us.his workrate and runs are great to watch.

Agree0 Disagree0

This may be true Ed, but he's got a spark of genius in him at times. But I do agree that he needs to be matured abit more. And I think El Bobby is the perfect man to do it.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - so do i QB..

25 Apr 2014 06:58:21
If you have seen Bobby's press conference from yesterday you should watch it, he is positivity personified. When asked about injuries the list seems quite bad, he totally spins what in years gone by would have been viewed as a negative situation by saying how exciting it is that young players will get a chance. Not even a consideration of it being a bad thing, simply exciting and rewarding for the hard work the young players have put in.
He is simply superb

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i just love him svenny..

25 Apr 2014 13:28:38

The football world all seem to be comeing in and saying how badley moyes has been treated, have they all forgotten just how disgracefuley this man has conducted himself both in the way he left our club, fail to keep his word on transfers, then tried to get our players on the cheap. my only regret is that he will be rewarded for his incompitance.5mill

Cleverly was playing well till the change in manager, then became the fans scapegoat for all the faults of the team. Naismith anyone? If he comes Bobby will sort him out just like he did Steve. So I for one will give the guy my full support. Think him andMacca would actually make a good pair. Barry can't go on forever.

I'd have to say that the negativity about the performances of late would make me question why RM would even bother looking, we need better than that
