Thought things were going too well for us. devastated, most importantly for Seamus as it's horrible for the lad. I hope he makes a speedy and more importantly, a full recovery and can get back to his best. He's my favourite player and I want to see him marauding the opposition down the right again next year.

For the team, it's come at an awful time in the season and has left us looking short for the two most important games of the season. Add to that McCarthy getting injured in the warm up, and I'm done for the night!

It's now decision time for Koeman, who will step up? I don't think, even in a wing back situation we can afford to shove Lennon in. I would say McCarthy but obviously he's injured too. I like Holgate at centre back but he is the obvious option having played there earlier in the season. I feel with the pace of the Liverpool frontline it may be better to have him in the middle and give Pennington or Kenny a go at right back. Koeman has spoken highly of Pennington and Kenny is a natural right back so maybe it's time to stake a claim for the first team.

Kenny is a Coleman type player. Likes to get forward but can also defend. Comfortable as a wing back too. Holgate is a centre half as is Pennington, .3 at the back if Holgate or Pennington play. But either can do the full back job.

Still feel Lennon is the sensible option especially with the next 3 games being in 8 days, we need experience to get through the 2 away games imo.

Think holgate has played rb away at anfield or somewhere before and played really well.
Rk knows what to do for the best but Seamus going to be out for similar time to bolasie. Hope they can push each other to full health. Our wishes to them both for a full recovery.

Through adversity does our blue blood grow stronger.

Just seen the video of Shane Long with Seamus, just goes over and gives him a hug. FairPlay to him as that's a footballer showing real emotion to a team mate who is obviously in a lot of pain and shock.

Just seen a still picture of Seamus's injury, made me feel quite sick I just hope he plays again. The rest of the squad need to pull together and give him a fantastic reason to get back stronger. but he was sat up I would have been out on the floor shows how tough he is.

I do remember Henrik Larsson having a similar injury when playing for Celtic and he came back to play at the very top level with Barcelona and we know the club will look after Seamus. Henrik was out for 8 months with a double break of the tibia and fibula and went on to have his best season for Celtic after his return with 53 Goals in all competitions so there are reasons to be optimistic and medical techniques have moved in the the last 8 years.
Get well Seamus!

Tackle was absolutely disgusting and Taylor should be banned for 6 months just like the player in the Chinese league has been.
The tackle by Bale on O'Shea was also a bad one but this Is a leg breaker without a shadow of a doubt.
So that's McCarthy and Coleman both injured on international duty with Ireland, Colemans is different to McCarthys but Keane and O Neill are a pair of disrespectful tools when it comes to Jimmy Mac! He was clearly not 100% as he hadn't featured for us, you know the team who actually pay his wages, yet he is called up and then was going to start until he pulled out with, wait for it, an injury! Well that was obvious you clowns! They selected him purely out of spite due to the fallout with Koeman earlier in the season. Anyways rant over, get well soon Seamus, hope it's not as bad as it looks.

To add to my post earlier, gutted that Seamus' injury is as bad as I first thought, he has been one of our stand out performers this season and has really flourished under Koemans guidance.
The wing back roll he has been playing has allowed him to really show how good an attacker he is when attacking the byline, add to that he has chipped in with goals, the biggest disappointment is that he would have been up against Milner who is not a left back by any stretch of the imagination and has no pace either, I felt this was a serious weakness that we could have exploited with what Seamus and Tom Davies offered us down that right hand side.
Do we go with Mason Holgate now who earlier in the season was solid up until Stoke away were he struggled positionally against Arnautovic or do we go with Aaron Lennon at RWB? He may not offer the height at set plays but he has the pace and experience to play RWB as he has played this roll before. Personally as it's such a big high profile game I think I go with Lennon. 3-4-3 for me, Jags, Williams, Mori. Baines, Gueye, Davies, Lennon. Calvert-Lewin, Lukaku, Barkley. If Schneiderlen is fit, scrap the 3 at the back and drop Mori and go 4-3-3.

I'd like the traditional 4 sided stadium too Milomj, the closer to the pitch the stands the more intimidating it becomes, you lose that with a bowl, I'd like to see us create a stadium that teams hate to come to.

I think it's time for a dose of realism.

Lukaku is the best striker in the world playing outside of regular CL football. This cannot and will not continue. We have a job on our hands to get into the CL this season and let's be honest having played more games than the rest with the exception of Liverpool and still being 7th it's very unlikely that we will qualify. Even if we did he will still jump at the chance of playing for Chelsea if they came in for him, and that's fair enough.

It'll be a gamble keeping him this summer if he doesn't sign a new contract and he is saying now that his mind is made up.

So the best thing in my opinion is get the very best deal for him as soon as we can so that we can move on without the player.

Lukaku will leave us, that's for sure. We just need to be wise about the timing. It's a shame I know but I feel it's reality.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Mar 2017 19:48:34
I think I disagree to be honest. Keep him for this season and see what he does for us next year. As he says over and over, he us ambitious and will continue to show his talent rather than sulk. Who knows, he may get us into CL next year depending on our clubs ambition and who we get in in the summer. With 1 or 2 years remaining on a contract, he won't go for cheap either way providing he's continuing to show the goods and score the goals.

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Mar 2017 21:51:18
We won't get as much with 1 year left Kingo. He says he's made his mind up and won't be signing. I'd love to keep him but at some stage we will have to stick or twist on this one.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Mar 2017 22:25:58
Or keep him for the next two seasons and let him go for free. Insane? Not really, yes we would potentially be losing a possible 80m+, but if we keep him and his goals, and build around him then in two years we might make Champions league. Which would make 80m small potatoes. It's a gamble but could well be worth it. Some may say what if he downs tools and plays poorly. Can't see that myself as its only two seasons, and if he is adamant he needs to be playing for a "big club" then he can't afford to let his standards drop. Just a thought really.

Hi Ed just wondering if our stadium move happens what do you think will happen to Goodison, I see yesterday someone was saying it could maybe a World Heritage Site, what's your take on this thanks GuernseyBlue.

Believable0 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - It depends on how the financing is worked out - who they sell the ground to, whether the Council will want to redevelop the area, whether there is another use parts of it could be put to - but a World Heritate Site no. I think the absolute earliest Everton could be moving in to the new ground would be 2020/2021 so there is time to work on what happens with Goodison.}

Nice to have you back mate, GuernseyBue.

Agree0 Disagree2

24 Mar 2017 13:46:47
Hello mate and welcome back. I agree with a lot of what you say there, but not the Coleman bit. He has to be one of the best right backs not featured in European football. Not only is he a good full back, he is our joint 3rd highest goalscorer behing Rom and Ross with 4 goals. He has 3 assists too. At 28 he is in his prime. In the statistics tables he is in the category of "strong" for dribbles and passes. He is very rarely injured and besides losing confidence under Martinez, has been Mr Consistent over his career. I don't see any other player within our grasp and budget who would want to come to us and in fact I think Man Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea and even Man City would probably take him off us if they could at the drop of a hat. Add to this. who would you suggest is better and available to us?

Agree2 Disagree1

24 Mar 2017 17:35:22
Totally agree with every word degsypulford2. Some say his final ball into the box is not good. Fair enough it is his weakness. Only one I can see really. Top class player and professional. Always came across devoted and loyal to Everton.

Loved the way in January he came out and squashed rumours of him going to Utd. Never gave it a chance to gain momentum in the media. Very grounded, grateful lad who is a true blue.

24 Mar 2017 22:15:06
I have to agree the boy is one of the best right backs in the prem. Mr consistent. It looks like Rom is off, possibly to Chelsea with Costa going to atletico and griezman to man Utd. So let's have Rooney on a free and Rashford on loan.

It's a shame that consideration couldn't be given to some standing areas, but I would imagine that this would come down to accountability and identification.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

24 Mar 2017 12:08:36
If they would bring standing back their would be no need to leave Goodison since the capacity is a few short of 78,000 (14th February 1953) . I know since I was one of them. So you can decide your capacity by the percentage of those standing verses those seated. Let's assume that if every one was standing the capacity is 80,000 and if all seated 40,000 then if you eliminate a seat two could stand in there place. So if half stand and half are sitting then the capacity is 60,000. Spend some money on getting Goodison up to fire, health, etc. standards, throw out half the seats, bring back the footy buses and voila it's done.
Obviously will not happen for many obvious reasons but as an old timer I would love to see it happen.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Mar 2017 22:16:53
On of the issues with Goodison is the lack of corporate boxes which really bring in the money too.

24 Mar 2017 06:49:08
One thing that just popped into my head.

Is our new stadium going to be ours or is it for the commonwealth games bid and we get have before/ after?

The 50,000 seats could be with a running track with retractable seats to incease capacity for football.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

24 Mar 2017 14:49:41
I've been watching some of the South American world cup qualifying games. The stadiums have running tracks around them and the supporters are miles from the pitch. Can't let that happen otherwise "New Goodison" will have no character. Can't see how retractable seats would work since the permanent seats would still have to be a long way from the pitch. If Everton is going to pay for the ground then it should be a football stadium and not a joint one.
