Why do all the players we get linked with west ham are also linked with shorley and i'm a bit gutted we've not been linked with yarmalenko yet lol.

Why all the love for Robinson lately? All for giving youth a chance but seen some shouts for not signing a new LB and sticking with Baines and him, totally unproven in the Prem. Would be very, very risky I think. Seen him play a handful of times, admittedly not a huge amount, but seemed quite average.

I agree. Too many people demanding unproven kids play. I'm all for it and our club have been great at it in recent seasons.

Massive mistake to not sign a full blooded player to replace Baines. Any kids that are good enough will be bought in for cover and given a chance.

I don't think most people are demanding unproven kids play. For me its, if we are not going to replace Baines with a 1st team player then why buy someone to be backup when we have a youngster that may be able to do that job. If we are going to bring someone in to be 1st choice LB I would not be bothered if Robinson goes back out on loan as Baines would be the backup.

How are you going to get from being unproven to proven without playing then? He went out on loan and did well. He plays international football - does he not deserve to play the 8-10 games that Baines won’t play this season? What message does it send out if you buy a 20million pound left back - then Robinson becomes 3rd choice. At some point the youth which have cost lots of money have to be given a go. Seems petfect time to give Kenny + Robinson a little look whilst Coleman and Baines play majority of the games.

Have to ask what is the point of developing Davies Dowell DCL kenny Robinson hollgate if u would just prefer 20 million Europeans that really non of us have heard of.

So straight in at LB then. good one.

Sobs, Baines has a year left at the most, why not buy a replacement to compete/ bed in for this season. Robinson can then be 1st or 2nd choice next season, then it would be up to him to fight for his place. Eventually Baines will have to be replaced either with someone who is better or worse than Robinson.

Up to Silva do decide if he’s good enough to deputise for Baines. He has said that age is not a consideration so let’s see what happens. We will need to add players if real quality and experience though if we’re going to close the gap on the teams above us.

I think we may see him pre season, and then make the call towards the end of the window.

seen him play a lot for our 23s 2 seasons ago and said then he is brilliant, seen him play last year in a struggling team and he stood out, seen him play for USA and keep griezman and co in his pocket, think he's earned his chance this year.

I just think he deserves a chance Smit. If you remember when Baines first signed he couldn’t get in the team and I don’t think that was great - when we are trying to trim squad why would we want a 3rd left back (4 if you count Garbutt) - I agree if they don’t think he is good enough then loan him out -but don’t have Baines Robinson and another all for same position. Just my opinion though - and I’m usually wrong ;)

New manager; new captain?

What do we reckon? If rumours Baines goes to MLS and Jags getting less game time, who would you pick?

Sigs? Pickford? Rooney (if he stays) ? Or is there no looking past Coleman?

Clearly hypothetical as no one has left yet.

I can't look past Coleman as Captain next season, he will definitely be a presence in the changing room and on the pitch. great professional to have at our club.

Got to be Coleman, has all the right qualities both on and off the pitch
And apart from his injury layoff he’s an ever present in the team.

Yep has to be Coleman there was an article I read the other day that was about how no player since cahill has got what it means to play for Everton it was totally spot on except for the fact that personally the only other player that I have seen that gets what playing for Everton means is Coleman and for that alone he deserves to be captain.

Well when the Mrs said she got a tip from Gareth Southgate, I was under the impression she meant the England manager, Turns out it was the new kid serving at McDonalds with the same name. (I am not affiliated in any way with McDonalds and for fairness I would like to point out there are other dead end jobs to choose from)

Okay so here's what I think we need to bring in before the season and some potential players/ types. I know it's impossible to guess who is coming in etc. but it's interesting to see what everyone else thinks we need as well. We're going to need 3-4 quality players.

- Central defender
Need someone who is quality and experiences enough to marshall Keane. Preferably left sided as well (i. e. Koulibaly type who is very unlikely despite being linked with him in the past) . Between Keane, Holgate and Jagielka I think there's enough potential/ quality there if we can bring in one baller.

- Central mid
Think it's so important we bring in someone that can help Sigurdsson (attacking) and Gueye (defensively) if we're playing 3 midfielders as Silva has suggested. Need someone in between who is solid defensively but more importantly quality on the ball going forward. Thinking Torreira, Delaney, Gundogan type players obviously none of which would be targets but those types. I'd be upset if it was Wilshere and I really don't think Davies is up to holding a starting spot for us an needs to go out on loan.

- Vertatile forward
We have Tosun, Lookman and Walcott who I'm comfortable can play starting role at ST and wing positions respectively but we need another quality option who can play across the front 3. Someone faster and more physical than Tosun, who is a great finisher. Zaha is the first name that comes to thought, would offer great pace and power going forward. Even if Tosun was out imagine the damage a front 3 of Lookman, Zaha and Walcott could do.

- Left back
Unfortunately Bainsey can't go on forever. I'd be pretty comfortable having another season of Bainsey with perhaps Robinson backing him up but for long term it's important we can get someone in who can take his place straight away. Would love the Wendell signing as rumoured.

Thoughts blues? And Ed's do you have any info on if we're definitely persuing anyone hard?

I think you have highlighted the key positions and qualities required Aussie Blue with the possible addition of another goalkeeper as back up for Pickford
As to actual players I'm going to leave that to Silva/ Brands. They are being very quiet but hopefully they are doing their research and I'm going to put my faith into them picking the right people
