Regarding the Tom Cleverley situation whether he is coming to Everton or not it has been well reported that he performed well at Villa once Sherwood arrived there.
Can anyone recall did he perform well at Wigan under Martinez and was he there the season they were relegated. Thanks.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed030's Note - He's performed to his best under Martinez as Wigan, But I don't think his best his worthy of a place in a side with Europa/champions league ambitions, more a bottom half of the table player. }

.just heard that Johanne Cabaye is looking for a move back to England from PSG.for me he could be just what we're looking for in midfield, very cultured left foot too I seem to remember. him & Moutinhio are both now available - this is the type of quality we should be going for!

Worth a reply. I could not agree more. One of the best mids in the league when at a poor Newcastle. Probably the reason Newcastle slipped after his departure. PSG an obvious choice for him at the time but I think he will look for greater heights than Everton. Newcastle possible through familiarity. If I were him I would steer clear of the moneyman though.

Just wanted to get your take on this Ed: ********TEXT DELETED********

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - We don't get involved in how reliable anything on social media is, if people want to believe it then fine but we won't be giving credibility to it and we've got better things to do with our time than pass an opinion on any rubbish churned out by other outlets. Do you go on other sites and ask if stuff you read on here is true? For all we know it could be you that runs the page and is looking for free advertising.}

£15 million for Scott Dann?!? You Aving a giraffe. the guys very mediocre at best, he helped Palaces cause in staying up did he. or is this just the medias way of irradicating a story that was never going to happen anyway?. the guy from juventus - Ogbonna looks a much better bet to me.or maybe we could call Kevin Ratcliffe out of retirement for the cheaper option. nothing would surprise me anymore!!

Hello eds, can medicals be done before the transfer window opens.like with Del Boy and cleverly?.would they of had there medical?. Thanks)

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - they can be done yes, I don't know if either of those 2 have done so yet, I will try and find out now if they have done so. Last I heard the deals were done subject to registration details and work permits etc. Never thought to ask about medicals. Plus since then other teams have tried to gazump Everton on Cleverley (why????) so it has become a bit murky.}

24 Jun 2015 10:47:10
Is Cleverley defo coming then Ed, heard the Hammers where trying

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - not defo mate, West Ham and Palace are both trying to step in. I have no idea what will happen with that, it will be up to him to decide if he wants to honour his agreement with Everton or take a different offer. From the way his signing has been received, it would not be a surprise if he did decide to go elsewhere though! If I was him, I would probably be having second thoughts knowing that the fans are seemingly against me joining. It can make a move very difficult if the fans are on your back. Somewhere like West Ham, where the fans seem keen on him, might suit him and allow him to rebuild his reputation.}

24 Jun 2015 11:09:25
Cheers Ed, let's keep our fingers crossed he likes the Hammers more

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - this is why West Ham think there is a chance. Would there be a single Everton fan who would see him as a good signing?}

24 Jun 2015 11:33:31
''not defo mate,''

''Where there is hope, there is faith and where there is faith miracles happen''

Ed, I've been told the Villa fans were keen on him though?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - the Villa fans were not impressed at all until the last few games, so it was mixed really. Some think Sherwood could get the best from him, others just think he is not worth having. Sherwood would have liked to make the deal permanent though, but they could not compete with Everton and working with Martinez again, so dropped out.}

24 Jun 2015 11:59:22
''working with Martinez again''

Yep , that's the flippin bug bear the most worrying aspect to all this imo,
and why the guy won't go elselwhere :(

I must be the only Everton fan who thinks Cleverly would be a good option. (i don't know his wages and signing on fee). I presume its a cheap option for us and he is a workhorse to take place of Barry. Might give McCarthy a freer role. My worst concerns is he is replacing McCarthy who might want to move.

I agree with you Smeggs. I have never watched him in detail. However, with all the uproar last season, I watched him in Villa's last half dozen games. He scored a couple. One was class. He also knitted the Villa midfield together quite well. He worked hard and rarely gave the ball away. He tackled well too. When you compare him with the form of Gareth Barry last season, Cleverly was ahead in my view. Barry was awesome the season before, but last season was terrible in my view. I can only see Cleverly keeping Barry out of the team. One thing is for sure. Barry cost a place in the Europa League based on his disciplinary record.

The dark side go and sign firmino who is at the copa America in a matter of a couple of days and we still haven't confirmed deulofeu it's getting ridiculous now

Believable3 Unbelievable2

24 Jun 2015 08:24:30
Yes but the scary thing for us is they also signed Continio for 9 mill a couple of years back and that was a steal this Firmino lad looks quality and for 18 mill When is our board going to show ambition we need a quality number 10 another striker and centre half but will look to get bargain basement deals that is why we will fall further behind the top 4 simple as that.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2015 09:15:34
We can't seem to pull off deals because we won't pay the wages. If you want good players instead of average you got to pay the player the money. Everton football club must be raking millions in profit every season, were is it going too? Start acting like were a big club not a Swansea or a Stoke.

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Jun 2015 12:44:13
Swansea and Stoke finished above us last season. Big club status is worth squat if the team aren't performing.

24 Jun 2015 13:10:37
Has anyone ever read or heard from the club we failed to sign a player we were after because of wages?

Someone show me evidence instead of rumour.

You msy want a player but it doesn't mean the club are looking at them. You're having a go at them not signing a player you want. It sounds nuts.

Does anyone know how much we are paying Rom a week? I did hear from someone who said it's in he's contract that he's the top earner at the club.

It's great in it. news coming through tonight that Cech is signing for Arsenal, Sterling could be signing for Chelsea, Firminio looks to be joining the dark side.& we're linked with the likes of S. ameobi & Scott Dann. it leaves a very mediocre mid table at best taste in your mouth that doesn't it. I hope I'm wrong, but I'm not at all optimistic for the future as it stands!

Believable3 Unbelievable0

24 Jun 2015 03:06:20
Listen we have always been close to the top end of our wage budget and even with the influx of money it seems we're still there due the fact that RM has decided we need 25 average players all paid decent wages rather than a solid core of a team, with the money now in the prem the board are prob happy with finishing around 10 th anyway

Agree0 Disagree2

24 Jun 2015 06:03:23
I like Dan. Imposing player who will replace Distan. Ameobi is a enigma.

Well I'm hoping we get an announcement about Del Boys signing tomorrow, but I won't hold my breath - this is getting silly now, the guys been in Liverpool since early Monday morning - how long does it take exactly?
