Just watching Chelsea vs arsenal, if there was any chance of signing Wilshire we should, he's everywhere, also I didn't even realise Barkley was even playing, don't think he's much of a lose from what I've just been watching.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

24 Jan 2018 22:15:25
Agree, Barkley hasn’t changed one bit, still falls over and trying those spins of his. Maybe he’ll learn from some of the quality players they have in the reserves. Can’t see him lasting there. Not our problem anymore.
As for Wiltshire, yes agree he does have quality, just a little fragile.

Agree2 Disagree1

24 Jan 2018 22:31:57
He wasn't that impressive, but I think he showed with us what he is capable of. He needs to show some consistency. he may struggle to get in that team unless he shows more. But we could say that about the players we bought to replace him. I am concerned about our set pieces. Sig was the big assist at Swansea. they scored from lots of set pieces. we just don't seem to get it right at the mo.

Wilshire is the best Midfielder in PL when fit sign him up.

Agree0 Disagree3

24 Jan 2018 23:14:05
Wilshere the best midfielder in the league. How?

Agree1 Disagree1

25 Jan 2018 08:14:48
Wilshere does his usual sprint 5 yards pass sideways continue running until he runs into someone and falls over. Dunno how he’s been fooling people for years with it, nowhere near the best midfielder in the league.

As for Barkley, another who is garbage.

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - Wilshere has such an awful touch as well. He would have scored if he did not do his usual close control of putting the ball so far away he had to stretch to reach it! Drives me mad how overrated he is and how every 2 yard pass is greeted with verbal masturbation from the commentators.}

25 Jan 2018 08:32:03
Wow Ed001 that is almost word for word what I said about him in a previous post. we agree 100% on something at last! lol. Yeah I said he is like a kid who you are trying to teach close control. but is so quick he keeps pushing the ball too far ahead. so then has to stretch. and consequently is over stretched and ends up injured. His style is like Messi but without ball control. Messi keeps the ball close. Wilshire knocks it ahead and stretches!

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - that is what I have been saying about him for years. It drives me mad watching him, why has no one ever taught him to keep the ball tighter in? Immediately that would reduce his injury risk by half at least, just that one little thing.}

25 Jan 2018 09:50:36
Agreed 100%. It is like watching that little kid who is faster than anyone else when they first start playing and you know he has the capability to keep the ball closer to feet and not tempt in the tackle from the opponent. yet you tell him and tell him. then watch him go out on the pitch and immediately get excited and push it 5 yards ahead. so the big defensive midfielder steps in and because the little kid is committed. bang. and up in the air he goes. I wonder how many opposing players have been booked or sent off when making genuine tackles on him. but his momentum actually causes him to go into the defender? It is daft really because that one bit of coaching could improve his game and reduce his injury risk by loads.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I am shocked none of his coaches have noticed to be honest.}

25 Jan 2018 14:44:52
He is just a Ham footballer.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jan 2018 17:49:20
Me too Ed. But would guess he has been coached it but just can't get it into his head? As they say. you can lead a horse to water.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - good point, he is not the brightest bulb in the box even when the rest have blown.}

24 Jan 2018 19:40:22
It says it all when the highlight of our season is "who are we going to buy next
Sad situation.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

24 Jan 2018 18:42:22
Are we in the market for anyone at all or is that it, even the rumours have dried up, won't be impressed if we don't sign at least a LB.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - nothing is certain GH but we are still looking to bring in at least a defender, it has to be the right one though mate as panic buys are why we are in this state at the moment..

24 Jan 2018 19:58:10
A panic buy is better than we have at the mo Ed, we can't continue with what we have, i won't slag individuals off, but, players out of position, ageing players not fit, injurys, if the fans see it, surely management must, is it time to throw daft money around for a player/ s who are available, ey who am i, just one of many thousands fanatic Blue fans mate.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed025's Note - i know what you mean mate but just buying random players wont help either..

24 Jan 2018 23:25:01
Maybe the reason that we are not going for a left back is that the management have been impressed with what they’ve seen from Garbutt in training?

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Jan 2018 18:33:52
Not Everton related but i see the leeds utd fans are in meltdown at their new badge. Was not that long ago a lot of our fans were saying and thinking same about our new badge. I thought our badge was ok but definitely not as bad as the Leeds Utd badge.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - The fans worked with the club to design the badge.}

24 Jan 2018 18:46:45
Do you mean the Leeds fans worked with the club ed002? I’ve seen lots of them say ‘they’re never buying merchandise with that badge. ’ Similar to some Everton fans at the time.
I know our fans were involved in the design and I thought it was ok. I understand the design was much easier for printing etc.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Yes.}

24 Jan 2018 20:29:58
They better not change the motto, I have it tattooed on my arm. I know it doesn't apply at the moment but hopefully it will soon.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jan 2018 20:46:01
I heard Nike basically instructed us to change it as the design was too hard to print.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jan 2018 22:48:27
We should of kept that badge we done well with it that season.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jan 2018 04:13:59
Not many if any of our fans had any input in that horrible badge we had. A lot of fans had an input on the current badge though. Apparently Leeds fans played a big part in their new badge, think it looks terrible though.

24 Jan 2018 17:55:05
Not too many rumours around Everton at the moment. That lad Babacar at Fiorentina being mentioned again - can't see us signing another no.9 in January. Looks like Garbutt might get a look now too. Think we're done for this window Ed?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - i dont bluey, i think if we can get a defender over the line then a deal will be done mate..

24 Jan 2018 19:59:14
Cheers Ed. Fingers crossed!

Everton to beat Leicester by 3 goals or more is 22,1 🤔 might stick 50 quid 💷 on it you never know I have a funny feeling we will win this one comfortably there you go lads paddy power have a look.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

24 Jan 2018 18:55:36
After degsy put me in a good mood below I'm sticking 50p on this! It is Everton after all!

Agree0 Disagree1

24 Jan 2018 19:51:30
I'll give you 40/ 1 lads. We haven't got three shots on target in us at the minute an it's embarrassing to say. Hopefully Sam has got his signings right this window an turns it around.

Not holding my breathe though.

Everton the gear.

Agree1 Disagree2

25 Jan 2018 11:17:44
There would have to be an incredible turn around in our play for us to either beat Leicester or draw on current form. I am not in the habit of throwing my money away on speculation bets.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jan 2018 13:14:08
Just considering Walcott and Seamus on the right. then getting Baines or another top left back with perhaps Lookman on the left. Sig in the middle and Tosun up front. This all looks better going forwards. If we can get Keane playing like he did at Burnley and Holgate . Perhaps Rooney alongside Gueye? The balance is starting to look a bit better. Maybe Holgate is the weak link but time is on his side. But at least it is looking a bit better. Seamus and Baines are still our best at the mo in those positions. by a mile!

Believable3 Unbelievable1

24 Jan 2018 14:43:53
Good shout Degsy. I wouldn't mind DCL on the left rotating with Lookman/ Bolasie, as long as he has a decent LB behind him.
Apparently Garbutt is good going forward but not brilliant defending so how about a 3 5 2 with kenny and Garbutt at wing backs?

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Jan 2018 14:54:24
Be nice to get a new LB and that Mawson to partner Keane in CD, I could go on but don’t think we will get another 10 players in this window haha.

24 Jan 2018 18:11:42
Degsy that's the best bit of sex talk I've heard in years!

Agree0 Disagree1

24 Jan 2018 20:31:39
Thanks guys for the positive resposes. especially BJU. we don't always see eye to eye. but we all know the one thing that would make us so happy. improvement. I do feel Seamus and Baines will improve our defence so much. Both are nearing the end but Kenny has made a load of mistakes that have resulted in goals against and as much as I see him as a great prospect, he is not Seamus. As for Martina. he is not too bad defensively (oh he is really) but he is non existent going forwards. he never knows when to bomb with an overlap. his timing is dreadful. So with the 2 old boys back we will be more solid and stronger going forwards. We now need a player in central defense and a midfielder happy to run with the ball instead of playing sideways everytime. That will also give other sides a problem they don't have against us at the mo. Other sides know we break slowly and pass sideways so they can push further forwards against us without worrying about us on the break. They know they have time to drop back before we get the ball up too our forward line. I see this as the main reason we are not getting shots in on target. The other teams are re-organised by the time we have got the ball forwards.

24 Jan 2018 21:28:52
Seamus for me is so important. He use to scream at Lukaku for 90 minutes to get his arse in gear. We've missed that. Plus 1 tackle from him will have the roof.

Degsy I love the fact we have different views sometimes bud and it is only sometimes. You've changed my mind loads of times. You're one of the best Evertonians that I've argued with.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jan 2018 07:35:21
I love any Degsy post that doesn't start with "4 years ago I said" lol. Some good points made there Degsy. You are now one of the most positive posters on here. I don't believe that the quality of players we have is that bad, just the imbalance of the squad. For me in the summer we need to buy quality over quantity. 3 top players in the right positions and we would be on the way to where we want to be.

Agree1 Disagree0

24 Jan 2018 10:12:50
Just saw that we are looking at hiring Marcel Brands he is currently DoF at PSV, this would see Walsh step aside to just being a scout. This would be a top quality move, he has signed some great players albeit in the Dutch League but Hirving Lozano looks a player and we were linked late last year. Any info eds?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - See previous answer.}

24 Jan 2018 15:13:32
Yeh BlueToffee mate, apparently Marcel Brands is one of two canidates Mr Moshiri is looking at as part of a senior management reshuffle.

Just been looking at our fixtures, lots of games we should get points from but we need big improvements otherwise we will get sucked into relegation fight again.
I really would not like to be going last game of the season to West Ham away needing any points. Especially if they needed them too.

I've been thinking (never good news) . I want to look at this situation not from an Evertonian but an Allardyce perspective.
Fair to say that there was some oppostion to his appointment. The against camp would argue that he came with a reputation as a "money grabber" and a defensive, hoof it and hope coach. Allardyce proponents would argue that he was a victim of circumstance. He had cut his coat according to his cloth and at the clubs he hsd managed he'd had only very low grade cloth available. I think the Allardyce camp woild argue that there was evidence at Bolton, Okocha et al, that given the opportunity he was not a one dimensional coach. They would also argue that this was his.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

24 Jan 2018 07:57:55
Fair assessment. I think he brought in some great players at Bolton. I think he has inherited a quite dreadful squad. I am not sure any manager would have the ability to turn around our fortunes at the moment. I see other posters using the phrase, "steady the ship". I think that's all we can expect from him. I think Moyes did exactly that after Walter Smith and Mike Walker and left a great foundation that Martinez benefitted from. with the wonderful signing of Lukaku. and now we are back in the position we were when Moyes took over. I am not sure Allergy is the right man to do anything other than settle the ship. but time will tell.

I think a lot of fans, myself included are losing faith in big sam.
Not so much because of the drab style of football but, for me he has moved away from his tried and tested ways.

Get the players back to doing what they are good at, correct players in the correct positions, stick with form not accomodate names. he made a comment about playing Rooney deeper for his own good, then do it and stick to it.
He needs to stop all this chopping and changing and keep it simple.
If someone like Lookman comes off the bench and looks good, he doesn't necessarily have to start him the week after bu, t at least put him back on the bench. That will improve the players confidence.

Agree2 Disagree0

24 Jan 2018 11:29:19
He bought in some once great players who were in the twilight of their career and took a fatter pay day than any other club would offer.

I'm not up for a load of 34 year old legends turning up thanks.

24 Jan 2018 14:20:36
Smit666 + tothers. He has a skill and set method that ensures the Club he manages does not get relegated. His mistake in my view (mentioned before) is listening to us fans and thus changing his tried and trusted system. It would be nice wouldn't it for fans to comment on the game and players and not resort to hyperbolic hysteria (myself included) .

Agree0 Disagree2

24 Jan 2018 14:53:59
I agree to a certain extent Ducks’ but maybe he is aware that his tried and tested methods would be tolerated at lower level clubs with limited funds etc. Everton are a different kettle of fish. Although we were in trouble, and still are but not as bad, maybe he knew that there is a greater expectation from the club and fans to show a bit more than just fire fighting.

We are the biggest gig he’s had and if he wants a full 18 months out of us then he’s going to have to show a bit more. Otherwise he’s gone in the summer.

Just reading all the love Everton Fc has given Lennon in his move away. Certainly better than what Barkley got.
